Chapter 147: The Grand Operation Part 3
Tasuku hoped that Gao was doing alright right now while his buddy and himself prepared to fight Davide and his buddy Deathgaze Dragon. The boy didn't call for his weapon yet, noticing that Davide didn't do it. The boy wondered what the other one planned when he noticed the grin. He frowned as he took a step forward, but the green dragon warned, "Tasuku. Do not approach him. Focus on our mission, arresting them, not revenge."
"I know," the boy replied as he turned his deck into his core gadget, picking a card and ready to use it.
"So. You want to fight me Tasuku. Think you can beat me?" Davide asked as his grin grew larger.
"I don't care about beating you Davide. I am here to put you in jail for everything you've planned. You won't conquer our world," the blue-haired boy replied.
The other one arrogantly replied, "You just turned side like that and they trust you? You sure aren't reliable Tasuku."
Tasuku grunted and wanted to take away that grin out of his face.
"Tasuku," the green dragon lightly grinned, "We won't hold back this time. Davide beat me before with his buddy, but this time… This time. It's completely different. We are going to get out of this fight victorious."
"You are going to regret everything you've committed Davide. The reason I change side was because I realised that my actions were wrong! Azi Dahaka pushed me to hurt my best friend Gao!" the boy almost yelled.
Davide frowned, knowing that if this came to the ears of Azi Dahaka, the darkness dragon will know that he used the name of the ruler to get rid of Tasuku. He decided that the best thing to do was making sure that the blue-haired boy said nothing.
"Looks like you want me to live up to my name," Deathgaze grinned as he opened his wings, "And I like it."
Jackknife opened his wings and took altitude much faster than the other one. He didn't lose a second and charged at the other one, who avoided it and let the green dragon pass near him. He turned around and countered with a black ball coming out of his mouth, but never hit the target that went out of his way.
Tasuku decided to wait before using a spellcard, unsure of what Davide would do. He was ready to call his battle gear at any time, while holding an offensive spell card and a defensive one, depending on what would later come.
Jackknife slashed the forehead of the darkness dragon and made him took some distance. The green dragon didn't intent to let him recover and charged, but his blade tackled on the Darkness Dragon shield and took his distance. He remembered that this was troublesome. When he fought them, he was alone and had to deal with someone using a spellcard. This time, it was different. Tasuku was by his side and with him, the green dragon knew that victory was the only thing that would come.
The two dragons often charged at each other's, trying to inflict a wound to the other dragon's but both were experimented and failed to hurt the other one. Every time one was about to succeed, the attack was blocked by a spell card used by their buddies. The battle between them was stalling and it would soon turn into the duo who had the most endurance that would achieve victory. Davide knew that Tasuku had that advantage and had to break it.
"Is this all what you can do Tasuku?" the boy provoked the other one.
The blue-haired boy ignored the other one and focused on the fight, he knew he couldn't be distracted at all, or it will be costly. He wouldn't let that boy take advantage. He knew enough about Davide to not let him get to him. Both Jackknide and Demios taught him that it was important to never let someone get to you, or it will cost heavily. He mentally thanked Demios as he replied, "Of course not. You are already aware of this Davide. I am saving it for Azi Dahaka," he held back some snarky words that might be troublesome. He didn't want to lower himself into insulting someone else like Davide.
Davide grunted and clenched his hands. He was infuriated by those words that countered his own. He decided to change words and brought up something that will enrage Tasuku, "Maybe. I have a question Tasuku. Did you even know what we did to Jackknife? You never saw him wounded after all," he grinned when the other boy frowned.
Tasuku didn't want to hear how his buddy got wounded before. He never tried to ask it and his buddy didn't want to talk about it, or he would have brought it up before. He just knew that he lived with Gao, believing that it was the first place he went when he was wounded, "Enough Davide."
"You weren't there to help him you know. He followed your stench to find you, but it was us he found instead. My buddy and I enjoyed showing that green dragon what would happen to anyone standing in our way. Deathgaze Dragon bit his body and slashed his gut," the boy grinned as he raised his hands, "No matter what, he tried to fight back and find you. Until he realised, he absolutely had no chance and had to retreat. Running away, tail between his legs. He couldn't beat us since he had no buddies to help you. You know why it all happened?" the boy asked as he tapped his head with his finger, his grin annoying or enraging Tasuku to no end, "It was because you left him. If you stayed with him, none of this would happen. But you chose to follow Demios in the end but ended up abandoning him to return to your buddy. All of this for nothing," the boy concluded.
Tasuku felt anger awakening in him, but also sorrow. It was his fault after all. All of this was because of him, it's all my fault. If only I didn't leave my buddy behind, he wouldn't be hurt like that. Jack… I'm so sorry! He had the image of his buddy, gravely wounded because of him. It felt like it was himself who did those wounds. He looked in the eyes of his adversary, hands still ready to use a spellcard, but his vision lightly troubled because of his eyes covered with tears, that weren't ready to fall from his eyes yet.
Kazane stood near Sophia and had her spellcard ready for anything she might try to do against her. She wasn't sure what Sophia could do, but she knew enough to be sure that she was dangerous.
"You are a member of the Buddy Police Force it seems," the white-haired girl commented as she grabbed her deck case.
Her buddy who came was Gallows who obviously didn't look at his best mood. He was in his real form and gazed at them without making any snarky comment.
Bot Kazane and her buddy were taken off-guard by the simple presence of the Darkness Dragon. He wasn't suppose to be there.
"How are you out of jail already?" Phoenix asked the monster who faced them.
"I simply said a few things and I was release. I had nothing to do with the crimes linked to Tenchi and without proof, I was free," he waved his hands as his face showed little emotions. He seemed that his mind was preoccupied by something else.
Kazane knew that Gallows wasn't Shido's buddy anymore but wasn't expecting to see that monster in such mood. Nevertheless, she was ready for a fight.
Sophia didn't enter in the battle, but her buddy charged and readied his claws, aiming for Phoenix who flew in the air and avoided the attack.
"I heard from Reaper that you were someone good in a fight, but hesitate to hurt anyone," Sophia commented without showing emotions, "But I wasn't expecting you to come here right now."
"My friends need me Sophia," Kazane replied with a smile as she drew a spellcard and protected her buddy as she casted it, "I will not stand by and do nothing when they need me. Not just them, when the world needs us. We are not going to let Azi Dahaka conquer our world. No matter what the reason is."
"So, you rather let humans ruined it?" she asked as she casted a Darkness Dragon Shield.
The girl frowned, but her smile remained there as she looked at the girl who seemed emotionless, "I don't believe we will ruin it Sophia," she looked at her buddy and said, "We are here to win Phoenix!"
"We are!" her buddy replied as he avoided the claws once against and countered by throwing sharp feathers from his wings, wounding the Darkness Dragon before avoiding a dark ball coming at him.
"Focus Gallows," Sophia told her buddy.
You tell me to focus soon after this, he grumbled quietly, but did focus.
"So, your buddy left you behind," Phoenix stated with any accusation or mockery behind his words.
Gallows didn't respond, but attacked more aggressively, focused on the battle now. His attacks failed to hit the target, wanted to make the other monster regret his statement, "I'll make sure you won't have feathers once I'm finished with you!" He released dark vine out of his body and aimed for the chest of the giant green bird.
"Divine Protection of Shalsana!" Kazane yelled.
The shield made of light protected her buddy from the attack and Phoenix quickly countered by pecking the chest of the dark dragon, right between his thoracic bones and right in the black flesh, making him painfully grunted as he countered with a blow on the face, sending him away.
"Not good enough bird!" Gallows replied. He remembered that during the tournament, he lost his battle against Phoenix and his buddy. He didn't intend to let it repeat. His buddy wasn't Shido, but he knew she was someone more competent than his buddy. Despite that, he greatly missed Shido, it was so fun scaring him all the time.
Phoenix avoided the claws of the dark monster and countered with his talons, but the other monster avoided them and countered with his vines. Phoenix dodged the attack with speed and agility, lightly gasping when one passed way too close to him and lost some feathers in the process. He used his speed to increase his distance from Gallows and crossed his wings and aimed to the face with everything he had. A green line of wind charged at the darkness monster and hit right in the chest, exploding at the impact and making the other monster lost some altitude.
Gallows managed to recover and frowned, "This isn't going to end like in the tournament Phoenix!"
"You aren't fighting as strong as before Gallows," Phoenix commented.
"Shut up," the darkness dragon replied as he prepared his next attack.
"Gallows. You have to focus on the fight," Sophia said.
The monster grumbled, but lightly nodded, knowing that he should anger Azi Dahaka by losing in any ways that with everything he had. He thought back of his next attack and charged once again.
Phoenix took some altitude and countered with his talons, but Gallows stopped just before the attack came and his dark vines slashed the green monster as a sip of block felt on the skully head of the darkness dragon.
"I'll fight you seriously now," Gallows declared as his claws turned into a dark light.
Phoenix frowned and knew that the battle became harder now.
