Chapter 148: The Grand Operation Part 4
Tetsuya was dancing with his buddy as they were getting psyche up for their battle. Terumi and her buddy Medusa were ready to strike. The girl was getting infuriated by the boy and said, "Will you stop dancing and fight already?" Are they thinking I'm just a joke?
The duo looked at her and Asmodai grinned, "Why didn't you attack us already? You had your chance you know?"
"You didn't drop your guard demon. I can see it," Medusa replied as she readied her bow.
The pink demon chuckled, "Right. The battle had begun. I was just psyching myself up with my buddy."
Yes they are, "I have enough of you two dancing!" Terumi grunted as she grabbed her spellcard, not using it, but ready at any time.
Tetsuya started dancing as he prepared his spellcard, "Let's get ready to fight for justice Yo."
"Right," Asmodai answered as he took his fighting stance.
"This is a real battle!" Terumi grunted when Tetsuya didn't seem to take it seriously.
"I am taking it seriously. Yo," he replied with a smile.
Medusa warned, "Focus on the fight," before adding, "As long as we are together, we will defeat them."
"Yes Medusa," the girl replied as she calmed down, ignoring the boy's dance.
Her buddy fired her arrow and the pink demon dodged it at the last second. He charged, but the gorgon already had another arrow ready and fired again. He jumped in the air and avoided it at the last second and landed on his feet, "Close one. You sure are grabbing-" he yelped as he ducked, "-those arrows pretty fast," before avoiding the next one.
"Keep it up Asmodai," Tetsuya said as he continued his dance move.
Terumi frowned and was ready to use a spellcard at any time. She decided to be aggressive and taking that smiling face away from the boy. That would be her joy.
Asmodai tried to attack the Gorgon, but he could never pass her range. He lightly smiled as he recognised that she was an excellent archer and made sure that the demon didn't enter in close range combat. That would have been dangerous for her and she did everything to avoid it. He dodged more arrows and thought of a plan and gazed at his buddy, "Get ready!"
"Yes," Tetsuya replied as he raised a spellcard.
Medusa quickly prepared herself for the spell, but the demon appeared near her and kicked her face, sending her away. She landed on the ground, but quickly got up and fired an arrow before he could continue his offensive.
"Not bad. Creating a diversion with your buddy and without feeling like it," she replied before firing another arrow.
The pink demon dodged, "We are together for a long time, relatively of course, but we don't need to say everything to guess what the plan is," before landing on his hands and stretching his legs as another arrow passed between his limps. He gazed at her and winked, "And you Miss, are a great archer," before jumping back on his feet and ducking to avoid the next one.
Terumi frowned as she used her spellcard, "Great Spell, Thunder of Zeus."
Lightning felt from the sky and the pink demon avoided the attack. Asmodai kept quickly dodging anything coming at him and an arrow scratched his forehead, causing a small sip of blood coming out of his forehead.
Asmodai chuckled, "Not bad," he lightly panted as he continued avoiding the assault coming at him.
Testuya continued dancing, but carefully watched the fight and was ready to use his spell card at any moment. He knew that when the moment was right, he will have to use it.
Terumi used the same spell as before and when lighting came down, Tetsuya took out his spellcard, "It's All Cool!"
The lightning deviated and went towards Medusa who avoided it at the last second.
The pink demon took his chance and quickly charged. He was about to give a kick when the girl yelled, "Medusa Shield!"
"Abra Cadabra! Yo!" the boy countered, breaking her spell.
The shield disappeared, and the demon kicked the face of the Gorgon. He went for another one, but the tail blocked his attack and the next one. He tried to punch, but she avoided it and countered with her long tail and hit the pink demon on the chest, sending him far away.
He used his hands to jump back in the air and flipped before landing on his feet, "And that's how we do this."
He saw an arrow coming to his face, but his buddy saved him, "Solomon's Shield!"
The shield blocked the arrow and the demon jumped in the air, charging at the Gorgon. He tried to punch her, but she ducked and took some distance from the demon. She fired many arrows, but Asmodai avoided them and blocked one of them with his hands as a large grin appeared on his face, "Look at that. I got one."
Terumi looked at her opponent and saw him still dancing. It was annoying her to no end and ordered, "Stop this already."
"Why? I like dancing and it helps me focus yo. I am taking you serious Terumi," the boy replied as he grabbed another spell card from his Core Gadget.
The girl wasn't sure how to reply as she grabbed her hair. She was aware that the reply was sincere and wasn't trying to play tricks on her, but it was worse that it was the true. She would have taking it much better if the boy was dishonest but no, he wasn't. Terumi sighed and took out another card, "Fine. I won't comment on it anymore since you are taking me seriously," putting aside all annoyance coming at her and completely focusing on the battle. She had a small smile on her face, I guess I was wrong. He is taking me seriously. In his own very weird and annoying way. I rather he stops this stupid dance, but I'll ignore it this time. Everything is resting on our shoulders. Right Medusa?
Her buddy nodded and fired another arrow at the pink demon, who avoided it once again.
Kiri and his buddy faced their adversary, Rouga and his buddy Cerberus. The boy remembered what happened the last time and wasn't about to forget it. It was also painful memories that came back, when he did the same as the gray-haired boy against Gao not that long ago. It wasn't going to be an easy fight for the boy, but he had to do it.
Rouga already had his spear out and the blue-haired boy called out his scythe.
Kiri gazed at his buddy, "You're going to be okay? I…"
"Don't say it Kiri. Don't worry. I won't lose to Cerberus and won't end up that wounded this time," Joker replied as he played with his bladed arms.
"You think it won't be that bad this time?" the boy repeated.
"Yes. Chill out buddy. I will be fine, but I won't underestimate them," the frozen monster replied.
Rouga lightly frowned as he gazed at them and prepared himself, "This is for Kyoya's future," he whispered.
"And I'll be by your side Rouga," Cerberus replied with a small smile.
The fighters charged, and the battle began. Kiri managed to block the spear with his scythe without too many difficulties and was kinda surprised by it. He guessed it was simply because he did it as Reaper and nothing else. He had to believe in himself. He couldn't lose, or Gao might have more trouble and gave everything he had. He put aside his fear, his doubt and his other friends fighting, so he could win.
Joker avoided getting bitten a few times and flew in the air to take some distance, he quickly gazed at his buddy and thought, it feels old, before blocked the attack coming at him at the last second. He held Cerberus mouth a inch from his face.
"Focus on me Joker!"
"I am now!" before kicking the giant wolf monster away from him and charging again, blade ready. The three-headed wolf dodged the upcoming attacks and avoided damage during the assault.
"Let's show you how a real fighter fight!" Cerberus yelled as he opened his mouth. He missed the body but bit the tail of Joker.
The frozen monster painfully yelped, "Holy Blizzards! Chill out doggy! Bad doggy! Let my tail go doggy!"
"Don't call me that!" the other monster yelled, before realising they let go of the tail.
Joker red eyes shined for a second, before slashing the face of the wolf, but the blade bounced on a drill and deviated the blade. Joker kicked the face of the middle head and took some distance before replying, "But you answer me. So, you are a good little doggy."
The three-headed wolf grunted furiously and recklessly charged, "I am not a doggy!"
He tackled the chest of the ice monster and pushing him towards a tree. He grinned when he would make the monster regret his words when other impaled the shoulders with his frozen blade. It made him open his mouth and release the other monster, just before crashing on a large tree that felt on his back.
Joker checked his body and noticed a small crack on his chest, but nothing as bad as before. He focused his power on it and the crack quickly disappeared, it really was small and not deep. Hang on Kiri.
Meanwhile, Kiri was still withstanding the assault of Rouga without being able to counter. He blocked anything coming at him and did everything he could to resist it. The boy couldn't check if his buddy was doing alright or he will be hit by the other boy. The blue-haired boy avoided an attack that aimed for his shoulder at the last second and countered with a kick, but Rouga blocked it and threw the boy away.
Kiri spun in the air and controlled himself and face the silver haired boy and blocked the attack coming at him and deviated it on the blade of his scythe. He aimed for the jaw of Rouga with the handle of his weapon but missed the target and was hit in the chest and sent away.
Kiri was ready to continue the fight and panted as he readied himself for the next attack.
"Not bad Kiri," Rouga commented with a small smile.
"Rouga. Why are you helping Azi Dahaka to conquer our world?" the blue haired boy asked.
"I am not helping Azi Dahaka Kiri," he replied.
"W- What do you mean? All you did was for what then?" he furiously yelled.
"For Kyoya," his adversary replied honestly as he prepared to strike again, "It is not for any promise of Azi Dahaka, but the promise I made for Kyoya. Therefore, I will fight you," he declared before charging.
Kiri blocked it and tried to resist the strength of his adversary, "Because Kyoya is your friend? Then you could have tried to stop him!"
"It's because I am his friend that I won't Kiri," he replied before giving a blow on the face of the blue-haired boy with his weapon.
Kiri grunted as he felt on the ground and quickly turned around to block the next attack. He rolled on the ground when the spear pierced the ground where he was a second ago and was back on his feet to block the next attack. He grunted and jumped backward. He avoided the next attack and slashed with a vertical arc towards Rouga and hit the boy at the shoulder, inflicting a lightly wound as the blue-haired boy stopped putting strength at the last second and took a few steps back when he saw the blood. He gulped and was ready to keep fighting.
Rouga put his hand on his wound and looked at the boy, "This is a fight Kiri. You shouldn't hesitate, or you might pay the price. Maybe you are too nice."
Kiri felt nervous, I must keep fighting. If I don't Gao will be in trouble… I accept to do this to protect my world. I will not run away. I cannot be a coward anymore!
He felt something inside of him. It was as if something tried to awaken but failed. That little thing that came out calmed the boy down and focused on the fight. He calmly looked at the silver haired boy and said, "I'm ready."
What happened to him? Rouga wondered, knowing that something was different now.
