Chapter 153: The Grand Operation Part 9
Asmodai continued dodging the many arrows that came at him with a small smile on his face that annoyed Terumi. She just felt the pink demon wasn't taking the battle seriously. Not only that, Tetsuya was also acting the same way. The boy wasn't annoying the girl that much anymore. As the battle went on, it was clear that Tetsuya was serious, in his own and weird way.
Asmodai ducked and avoided an arrow coming at him. It just passed above his hood and kept going on, "That was a close one Medusa."
"It is indeed," she calmly replied.
Tetsuya looked at the girl and asked, "Why are you with them Terumi? I look at you and I know you are not someone bad yo. You did try to hurt me, but it was for your mission."
"I don't have to answer to you," the girl grunted as she took another spell card. As she activated it, Tetsuya just blocked it with another spell, "I choose to be with them."
"Why?" the boy asked.
"I told you that I have no reason to tell you!" the girl yelled.
Asmodai asked, "Is it about his love for dancing? Because you cannot get angry for that without reason."
The girl face lightly paled at that reply.
The pink demon lightly grin, "Looks like I hit the right spot," before he was shot on the foot and painfully danced, "Damn that hurt!" before avoiding the attacks of the gorgon and a spell.
The face of the boy changed a little. He looked a little worrisome, "Did I do anything to you? I'm sure I never did anything to anyone. Only cowards, bad people or people in pain bullies others. I know I didn't yo."
"You didn't," she replied.
The boy was relieved, which didn't annoy the girl who looked a little down. The battle between the monsters continued, but for them, it was starting to become a background noise. As he talked, he ditched his usual little add he made and no more 'yo' came out of his mouth, "Then why did you do all of this? Why did you join them?"
"For hope," she simply replied as she gazed in the eyes of the other boy. She did notice something different in the way the boy talked. He didn't seem happy and jumpy this time.
Tetsuya could see a hint of pain, but also satisfaction in her choice. He stopped dancing, taking what she said more than seriously, "Hope? What did they offered you to join them?"
"Honestly, it was a coincidence. They were searching for more… reliable members of the disasters. Davide was one of the first and… he is a total jerk. So Kyoya changed strategy. He decided to obtain more loyal and calm person. I was one of their first. Maybe he picked me out of pity, or not. I don't know or care. We just crossed path when I lost all hope."
The boy lightly clenched his hands, "So he offered you something you couldn't resist."
"It's not about me… not directly Testuya. Money was just the mean. If he simply offered me money, I would never accept to join him. I will just be angry. He just gave me back what I lost. Kyoya isn't a bad person. He really wants to help our world, but the world saw him as a rich kid who somehow is the boss of his corporation. No one could take it seriously for now," she crossed her arms.
"What did you lose? It's clearly important yo," the boy said.
She grabbed her pants and raised the one covering her right leg. When he knee was revealed, she stopped and Testuya saw it. There was a scar right there, "I had a dream Tetsuya. Before I was wounded there. I was always timid, but…" why do I feel like talking to him about it? That question came with an immediate answer as she kept on, "I had-" she shook her head, "have a dream. I always liked something before and it was shattered in one accident. The only way to claim it back was a costly operation, but my family is not rich. I was never angry at them, they did try to obtain money, but couldn't," I was a little like him before. He is what I was. That's why I hate you Testuya! She finally understood why she hated him. His free-spirited mind. His simply love of dancing. It was passion, the same she had before.
"So Kyoya offered the money so you can…" the boy put two and two together. Why she must had been angry, "Dance again right?"
She nodded, "This is why I'll help him. No matter what. Because I believe him. The passion he has. I will do everything in my power for him. That's why you are going down Tetsuya!" She took out a spellcard, "Fury Of Odin!"
Tetsuya gasped when energy was starting to cumulate in the sky and searched for the best way to counter it. He took out his spellcard and said, "Magical Bye-Bye!"
And moved his buddy just in time from his dangerous spot to a safer one by his side. The boy sighed in release while his buddy said, "You saved my tail right here," he pointed his finger at the girl, "You know Terumi. I cannot be mad at you," he chuckled, "Neither angry. Everyone has a selfish reason, but yours is one I can overlook. I would be deeply hurt if my buddy would suffer the same fate," before he returned to the battle.
"I cannot say what I would do if the same happen Terumi, but I'm going to stop you. You are loyal to Kyoya, but I am also loyal to my friends!"
The two kids looked into each other eyes, trying to find a weakness in their will. None of them found any as the battle continued. None of them would backdown from their belief.
Kiri stroke with his scythe and forced Rouga to defend himself instead of attacking the blue-haired boy. The shift in their battle took the silver hair boy off-guard, but also lightly grinned, "Not bad Kiri."
"I will protect my world from anyone who wants to conquer it. Azi Dahaka will not rule over the Earth," the boy said as he struck again.
Rouga blocked it with his spear and dodged the rest of his enemy assault. He avoided with everything he could the scythe that aimed for his arms and legs. Despite the aggressivity of Kiri's assault, he knew that the boy was holding back, afraid of hurting him or dismembering him. He could call it out and mock the boy, but he was also holding back. He was obeying Kyoya, loyal to his friend. However, he wasn't someone who enjoyed killing or deeply hurting someone who clearly didn't deserve it. He held back any reply and countered.
His weapon almost hit the shoulder of his younger adversary. The silver-haired boy didn't slow down and continued his attack. He forced Kiri, to stay on the defensive and prevented the boy from continuing his attack. He slowly pushed him backward. He frowned as he noticed the focused face, he is different. He isn't afraid at all or showed any hesitation. This isn't like last time.
"Are you worried for your buddy?" Kiri asked.
"Of course not. He is capable, and I trust him," Rouga replied as he blocked the blade of the scythe and the two gazed in the eyes of the others.
"Me neither. Joker is someone who likes to make many jokes. He has a nice sense of humor. He also doesn't break easily. I believe he shall be victorious. Because I fully trust him, just like you."
"Maybe," he lightly grinned.
Joker tail was bitten once again as he painfully whined, "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! That hurt! Let my tail alone! One bite hurt, but a 3x combo is really painful!"
The frozen monster glared at the other monster and slashed with his ice blade, aiming at the face. He hit the snout of the giant wolf, and his twin tail was free. He quickly flew away and avoided the drill coming at him at the last second. He quickly took his distance and faced Cerberus.
"Are you out of joke Joker?" the three-headed wolf asked with a small grin. He pointed his weapons at the ice monster, "Because I believe you wasted all of them with this combo comment."
"I still have many jokes relating to ice Cerberus. So many that it will takes decades to waste them in this fight. That's freezingly good right?" the ice monster asked as he chuckled.
The next thing the monster was aware was that he crashed on the ground and rolled in the grass, covered with dirt, he hated that one. He avoided the next attack and blocked the drill with his blades.
"I hope you are ready to lose again Joker. Because you couldn't defeat me last time," Cerberus grunted, clearly having enough of the other monster.
Joker red eyes shined brighter as he replied, "I will not lose again!" he tried to push back the drill. The drill was activated and tried to break his arm, but the blades resisted the pressure, "I hurt Kiri. He was so worried for me. When he became the Reaper, I couldn't protect him from that. I hurt my buddy once again when I just did what I was told, not what he would really want me to do! This time! I won't hold anything back."
He was tackled on his chest violently and was sent in the air. He saw his enemy coming at him and avoided the fangs, claws and weapons. He quickly took his distance and opened his wings completely, "There is water in the air Cerberus," he created spikes of ice with his wings, "And when it gets chilly, it turned into ice. The more chill it is, the harder they are!" he threw them at Cerberus. Some of them passed the defense of the giant wolf and pierced the body.
Spikes of ice stick out of the fur and were lightly covered with the blood on the monster coming from Danger World.
"I will not kill you Cerberus. I know you are not bad or ill intended, just like your buddy. If it wasn't the case-" he blocked the assault of Cerberus with ease and countered with a powerful kick in the snout of the middle head, "You would already be down."
Cerberus painfully grunted, before looking in the red eyes of the other monster, "So you were holding back last time!"
"My power reflects those of my buddy. Right now, Kiri is actually stronger than before. So, I can awake more of my power," Joker replied.
"Why did you really do it before?"
"I couldn't," it could awake too much of my buddy. I can't let it happen. For what my buddy truly wants, he thought as he prepared his next attack.
That annoyed Cerberus and went to the offensive. The two monsters fought with everything they had, just like their buddies. They wounded each other's and never let down for even a single instant. None of them were ready to lose this fight.
Joker wouldn't let his buddy in pain once again. That was a mistake he would never repeat again. He gave a quick glance at his buddy and saw that the boy was doing well. More than that, he was on equal strength with Rouga who clearly more fighting experience had than his buddy, I hope this doesn't drag too long. Or… he cut his thought short when he avoided the bites of the other monsters. He dropped his usual humor, with the full intention to dominate this fight.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. The next chapter will return to Gao and Drum until their fight ends. I know Zanya didn't appear in the final battle, but I didn't prepare someone he should fight against precisely. Also, Buddyfight Deadgame first chapter is out. It's rated M.
For the next chapter, it will take a while. It's not because I need extra time, but I'll be much busier than usual during my writing time, so the next chapter will be release in two weeks.
