Chapter 154: The Grand Operation Part 10
The red dragon looked at the darkness coming at him, ready to swallow him all into his own demise. His entire body trembled at the full power of Azi Dahaka. The ruler of Darkness Dragon World was on an entire other level of power than himself, I cannot let fear beat me! I am here with Gao! He forced himself to think that and pushed his fear as far away as he could. After that massive effort, he managed to act. He couldn't dodge it, so only one thing he could do.
He put his Drill in front of him, ready to endure the attack. He made sure that his feet were in the ground. He waited for the impact, but it didn't come. He raised his head and saw a green dragon shield blocking the attack. The moment he saw that, he knew his buddy couldn't hold it forever. He used the thrusters of his drill to escape.
The moment Gao saw his buddy outside of harms way, stopped using his spell and there was a large explosion where the red dragon was a few seconds ago.
Drum landed on the ground and checked on his friend. Gao was on his kneel and panted in exhaustion, "Gao!" The dragon quickly joined the side of his buddy. He was relief that his buddy was fine and pained that he was that tired, "I really tired you," if I had dodge it, you wouldn't be that tired. I… I put your life at risk there.
"I have no intention of killing any of you Drum. So, I had to make sure that your buddy cannot help you anymore," the darkness dragon said as he pointed at the boy.
"It was already difficult to fight my buddy with Gao by your side Drum. Do you think you can still fight and defeat us on your own?"
That hit the moral of the dragon hard. He was alone against both. He felt something pulling his tail and turned around.
Gao let out a small and reassuring smile, "I'm still here Drum. It's not-" he grunted as he stood up, "-over! The Mighty Sun Fighter won't go down like this," he panted after saying those words.
Drum nodded negatively, "You're at your limit Gao," he looked at his buddy with determination, "If you can still stand up, I still have a chance," he turned towards the giant dark dragon, "The battle isn't over yet Azi Dahaka!"
The darkness dragon couldn't help, but lightly chuckled. The red dragon grunted and Azi said with respect, "Pardon me. I am not mocking you. Only a few dragons ever kept fighting when they realised, they had no chance. You are right thought. It isn't over as long as your fighting spirits are there," his muscles tensed and the red dragon was ready for the next attack, "So I shall crush it!"
A giant fist came towards the red dragon who avoided it by flying in the air thanks to his drill. He avoided the other attacks of the darkness dragon. He deactivated his drill when he was close to the giant dragon and landed on the snout of the left head, before drilling in the nostril of that head.
Azi Dahaka furiously grunted and tried to grab the red dragon who flew away, avoiding the grasp of the other dragon.
Drum turned around and breath fire in the left eye of the right head but missed. The head closed its eyes at the last second and avoided the pain. He avoided the attacks of the darkness dragon and countered at any opportunity he could find. The red dragon managed to stall it so his buddy could recover a little.
He suddenly stopped his drill and let himself fall on the ground. He landed on his feet and avoided the blast of the darkness dragon. Drum searched for an opportunity to counter attack but didn't find any yet. He could attack, but never did more than minor damage to the other dragon, if- No! I just need to find a way to win!
Gao watched his buddy struggled against the other dragon. He could see the annoyance in the eyes of the Darkness Dragon each time he took minor wounds. The boy gazed at Kyoya, who still have all his energy. Gao didn't like the small grin and confidence from his enemy, but the situation was more than favorable to his enemies, I can barely do a spell now, the boy was that aware of his situation.
Kyoya gazed at the boy, after blocking an attack from Gao's buddy with a spell, "How long do you think it will keep going Gao?"
"Until we win this fight," the boy replied.
The silver-haired boy nodded his head negatively, "I don't think it will become a reality. You're buddy isn't at your level. Honestly, only Tasuku, I and maybe Kazane could handle the true power of my buddy like that. For others, the defensive spell would already break. He is one of the last of the first generation of dragons originally coming from Dragon World. They power are beyond normal."
"It doesn't matter," the boy replied.
He thought about it and replied to Gao, "A little. I was talking about brute force, but Azi doesn't just count on that. Only the Omni Lords and your father could challenge him, but they aren't here," he crossed his arms. He lightly frowned and asked, "And why are you standing against me? Don't you know that this is the only way to create some real peace on our world?"
"This isn't the right way. Putting them under control of Azi Dahaka will not really change anything. Who knows what will come after this?" Gao thought for a few seconds and added, "You also controlled Kiri like a puppet. You tried to do the same with Tasuku and I! This is some kind of slavery that Azi Dahaka tries! You agreed to that! But more than that. It won't be on our own. This is something we always to fight for ourselves Kyoya."
Kyoya furiously yelled, "You haven't-" before quickly calming down, No. I don't have to talk about it, "Anyway. This is the end. The future Azi and I want will soon come."
Gao saw his buddy violently hit and crashed on the ground. Drum slid on the ground and stopped near his buddy. He panted as he tried to stand up. He used everything he had and was up. He used his weapon to maintain his balance as he coughed a few times, "S-sorry Gao. This is… just too much," he panted for a few seconds before using everything left to stand up without support.
Gao frowned, but refused to lose hope, "We still have a chance."
"I am sorry to break this to you, but you have no chance. The victory you are seeking is far away from you," Azi Dahaka said with a small smile, "However, I can comment on how brave you were to make a stand against me, even if you had no chance at all. Almost no one would have done something like this, but you two and your friends are doing everything to stop me."
"The future you both want won't come true," Kyoya concluded.
Gao gazed at the two, then at his buddy, is everyone just going to end like this? Losing against all odds. That we have no chance to save our world? Are we going to let him control our world, slowly but surely? He wondered what his brother and what he left in his manga would have done. Of course, the answer would have been to keep fighting, but a losing battle wasn't something they could do. Drum was wounded and could barely stand on his feet.
"Gao. Even if… I can barely stand… our friends are still… fighting," the red dragon grunted, "I'm sure of it. So… I won't give up. Don't think about it either."
The boy looked at his buddy, "Yeah."
"This isn't smart to keep fighting like that," Kyoya commented.
"Their fighting spirits lives on," the darkness dragon replied to his buddy, "It is stronger than I anticipated."
The Mighty Sun Fighter closed his eyes, Nothing is over, "Kyoya. What you want to do isn't the right answer. This will solve nothing! You just lose faith in everyone. You don't believe we can become better and create a better world. However, I do! I will do anything to stand against those who will try to prevent this. We stopped Tenchi. Yes, more will arise, but we will also stop them! I believe in this! I believe we can do this! Everyone together!" I believe in this future!
Drum noticed that his buddy felt a little different suddenly. He turned around and saw his buddy, looking older than before. The boy stood high and proudly as if everything he wished came trued. The red dragon turned toward Azi Dahaka.
The ruler of Darkness Dragon World saw the hair of Gao growing longer, but also the power emanating from him, "Impossible!"
"What's going on Azi?" Kyoya asked.
"The boy is awakening his full potential! His real power is coming out!" the dragon explained in amazement and some anger.
The red dragon faced them and grunted, "With everything my buddy said. I believe in him. I will stand by his side until you are down!"
Drum body resonated as Gao awakened his true power. Flame began covering the red dragon and left their adversary speechless.
The red dragon looked like he was slowly burning out alive. The intensity of the flame was great, as even Azi Dahaka took a step back. He could feel the heat and the light emitted from it was greater than he could ever imagine.
The darkness dragon had a flash in his mind. There was one dragon who made him felt that way long ago. It was a dragon he crossed path once. It was so far ago, before he was exiled in the dark world that became Darkness Dragon World. The great flame that came from that dragon reminded him of her. A dragon known as the Empress Of Fire. She controlled the fire like no other dragons. She was one of the first dragon, just like Tenbu.
Once the flame died down, Drum didn't look like what he was before. The red dragon looked intimidating and powerful. This time, the dragon felt like it was coming from the first generation.
"That's…" the ruler of Darkness Dragon world couldn't say more than that.
Drum Bunker Dragon was now wearing a large red armor with large silver spikes on his shoulders, legs, knees and his gauntlet of his left hand ending with golden claws. Small flame came out of his chest and spiralled around his tail. His drill in his right hand was a large red one, sharper than ever before. A pair of wings made of flame shined on his back, while his face was ignited by fire, "That's right Azi Dahaka."
Gao watched his buddy and was amazed. So much that he barely noticed his long hair. It was nothing compared to his buddy.
Kyoya was lightly shivering. It was something he never saw before.
The darkness dragon said, "Your mother is her… H- How?"
"Dad beat her in a duel," the red dragon calmly replied. He raised his right left hand and a large fire ball appeared, "This is the power of my mother! This is her heritage for me! This is all that remained of her! My mother was the Empress Of Fire! Prepare to lose!"
The darkness dragon eyes were trembling at the prospect of his power. Not out of fear, but pure excitement. Once they never expected to feel. His blood was boiling inside of him. That sensation last truly came when he fought against the XIII, we want to fight. We want this fight! A large grin appeared on their face as he said, "Show me what you truly got Drum! Prove me your worth! Prove me that you are the true heir of your mother!" Without realising it, they let one thing slip, "She I once loved! Defeat me and I promise on my honor that I will never harm the Earth again! Give me the fight I never reached with your mother!"
Drum prepared himself. Right now, he could feel a part of his mother in him. Right now, his blood boiled just like the other dragon. Somehow. This battle didn't have the fate of Earth written on it anymore. It was simply a duel between two dragons. One that they are both going to enjoy.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. It was the perfect way to end it.

Yup. You guessed it. The Impact Card will finally be used in the next chapter. Instead of early in the show, it will be for this moment. I've been waiting for a long time for the appearance of the impact cards. 154 chapters of wait for an epic strike. But I think it's more epic that way.
