And we come to the conclusion of my story about the four girls, it's been a hell of a ride and I have loved every moment of it, even when Speirs and Dana did the oposite of what i wanted them to do.

Kaprun, Austria May 1945'

Winters and Emma were sunbathing on the terrace of the hotel they had commandeered and turned into the HQ for second battalion.

After accepting the surrender of the Germans in the area and ordered all weapons to be collected at the local school and church and inspecting the camp for the POW's, Winters and Emma had little to do and the that went for the men as well. The activities of daily living was done either by Displaced persons or locals willing to work for food or cigarettes.

The men spend a great deal of their time either, swimming, playing sports, or doing close order drills.

The last task Winters had done was sorting out the German and American equipment that was no longer needed for combat and it was shipped to storage facilities in France.

"I absolutely love Austria" Emma sighed and closed her eyes.

"Me too" Winters said and turned over so he was resting on his stomach.

"You know what we should do?" Emma asked him

"What?" Winters answered

"We should have a party for the officers" Emma said and sat up

"Just a small one" Winters said

"Yeah, just Dana, Sparky, Lip, Camilla, Foley, Matheson, Nixon and Charlie" Emma told him

"Ok, you sort it out, I am meeting Lew, Welsh, Lipton, Foley and Ron in town and I will sent a runner to regimental HQ" Winters got up and kissed Emma on the cheek

Winters walked down to the lake and waited for his fellow officers, they had decided to meet and discuss the future. Winters had decided to accept Nixon's job offer and he knew Nix and Charlie would stay in Nixon, New Jersey until the baby was old enough to travel.

Speirs had decided to stay in the army and Dana would stay as well, the only one who was undecided was Lip and Camilla.

Camilla had told Lipton no matter what he decided to do, she was going to finish her residency, but not at the Cleveland clinic, she had compromised and would do the residency at a hospital in Virginia.

Soon Winters was joined by the rest of the officers, the small group walked into a bar and sat down.

"So Lip, you decided yet?" Speirs asked him

"Yep, I am leaving the army, Camilla need to finish her residency and if we have to move all the around the country, she can't" Lipton told the rest of the men.

"Yeah, I guess you are right" Winters knew Lipton would leave the army, Lipton would do anything for the company Doctor.

The men talked for a while about the men, what the next day would bring and if they would be deployed to the pacific or not.

Emma and the girls was gathered on the terrace, "So, We are clear we meet here at eight and wear a dress" Emma Told the girls

"Well, I won't be here, it's third turn to rotate up to the ski lodge and I decided to bring my favorite boys with me" Dana picked up her gear and her Thompson, she turned and saluted the girls and walked away.

She was followed by a bunch of "Oh come on" and spoil sport.

"So eight, at the hotel" Winters told the officers

"Nah, I can't, Mrs. Speirs ordered me to join her and third platoon at the ski lodge"

Welsh hadn't thought that sentence thru and he didn't realize it, until he felt Speirs piercing eyes.

"I mean, she ordered the Toccoa men to be there" Welsh stuttered

Nixon decided to poke the bear a little "you are not a Toccoa man Harry"

"I mean…oh come on" Harry realized what Nixon was doing

"Easy Ron, Dana know the war is almost over and she just want to spend time with her friends" Lipton put a hand on the shoulder of the angry Captain "so relax and enjoy the party tonight"

"Third platoon on me and Welsh, Grant, Talbert, Luz you too" Dana called out and started the hike towards the ski lodge located on the mountain behind kaprun. The chair lift was kaput, but the ski lodge could be reached by the hiking trails on the mountain, Dana started to walk up the gravel trail.

Dana turned and looked down on the Zeller See and sighed, she was looking forward to spend 48 hours with her men, but she knew she would miss Ron, she would miss his kiss and sleeping next to him.

Third platoon reached the lodge two hours later, it was like heaven for them, they were waited on hand and foot by the locals working at the lodge.

"Ok men, there will be a guide coming in the morning and he will take those of you who want hunting, so grab a bunk and lets meet back here in an hour for dinner" Dana picked up her gear and found a room with a big canopy bed, a few minutes later someone knocked on the door, it was Welsh, he was still carrying all his gear "Can I share a room with you?"

"Are you sure you want to risk your life" Dana asked him

"Yup, I can handle it" Welsh dropped his gear on the floor and laid down on the bed

"Ok then" Dana said and pulled out a pair of shorts and put them on, she was going to sun bathe.

Welsh followed her, when they reached the terrace, Welsh pulled of his shirt and sat down next to Dana, he looked at her, she looked tired, and she had looked that way since Haugenau "Dana are you alright? Is everything ok between you and Sparky?"

"We are fine, I just…I am just tired and I need some peace and quiet. I need to be somewhere, I won't reached for my gun every time I hear a loud noise" Dana sighed and closed her eyes, she drifted off to sleep, she slept for an hour and Welsh woke her up it was time to join the men.

The talk in the dining room concentrated on the fact that most of the men was a few points short of the 85 points they needed in order to get home.

Shifty looked at Dana "81 points, I just need four more points in order to get out of here"

"I know Shift, it sucks" Dana patted Shifty on the arm.

Dana looked around the room, the veterans looked years older than when she first met them in Normandy on D. Day and the replacement from Holland and Bastogne looked like men, and not the boys who had showed up during their yearlong campaign thru Europe.

Dana walked out on to the deck and leaned against the railing and looked down on the small resort town of Kaprun, she sighed and turned when she heard foot steps behind her.

"Looks fantastic, don't it?" Luz asked her

"Look freaking amazing" Dana said

Luz walked over and lit a smoke he offered it to Dana who took it and inhaled the smoke "We have been thru a lot, haven't we Luz?"

"We sure have captain, I still can't believe how you and the other three just showed up in Normandy and just joined the company just like that" Luz snapped his fingers and let out a little laugh

"Yeah it's been a hell of a ride Luz" Dana sighed

One by one the men joined them on the deck and the group spend the rest of the night talking, drinking and laughing, Dana got up unnoticed and walked back to the room she shared with Welsh. She looked down on the town, she couldn't wait for the day they would be shipped back home. She knew there was a least one more deployment in her future, Korea. Dana knew from the history books that Speirs commended a company in Korea and Dana wasn't about to let him go there by himself.

Dana spend the rest of the time at the lodge sunbathing and relaxing, when she hiked back down the mountain with her men, she felt a sense of calm and she had a feeling everything would be ok.

It should have been the most perfect summer for the men and women attached to second battalion and the first couple of weeks they loved it. Then the frustration with the army bureaucracy set in, they were bored, they were drinking too much and they wanted to go home.

Charlie were starting to show and a drunken Luz had joked around one afternoon, he had an uncanny ability to piss Charlie off, and lately it's been his first priority of the day to piss of the Captain. He had a feeling something was up. Nixon had been extremely protective of Charlie and Captain Kahne had spent most of her time sleeping, it was almost like when his mother was… Luz knew what was up and his eyes moved to Charlie's slightly petruding stomach.

"Captain Kahne is pregnant, boy Captain Nixon you did one thing right in this war and that is knocking this amazing woman up, Sir" Luz put his arm around Charlie's waist and squeezed her.

His comment earned him a slap on the head from Charlie and Captain Speirs, the female one, had ripped him a new one and Luz, now had latrine duty from now and until he would be rotated home.

Shifty had won the points drawing and he handed in his paper work and gathered his loot, he showed up on the sun deck of the hotel where the officers was gathered and said his goodbyes. Dana hugged him and walked back into the hotel and Emma and Camilla looked at him "Don't take it personal, she sucks at goodbyes" one by one the officers shook Shifty hand and he saluted them and got on board the waiting truck. The truck was hit by a passing G.I truck and an injured Shifty didn't get home until months after the comrades he left behind.

Adding to the problems of frustration and anger caused by the points system, was the combination of too much booze, too many pistols and too many captured vehicles.

There were a lot of road accidents and there were seventy wreck in the first three weeks in Austria, twenty men were killed and nearly one hundred injured.

Dana and Grant was driving a couple of privates to a road block one night. Dana went with him, she knew what would happen and she like her husband, thought the world of Grant and she wanted to see if she could safe Grant from the run in with the drunk private. They were talking about an incidents which had occurred during D. Day, the young private in the jeep didn't get it, he was a replacement who had joined them in Germany. He never met the infamous Bill Guarnere.

They were about a hundred yards from the road block, when they encountered a drunken G.I.

The G.I was standing with a pistol in his hand and two dead Germans at his feet. He had stopped the Germans and demanded Gas, because he was out, the two German didn't understand him and when they resisted he shot them dead.

A British S2 happened to drive by. He and his sergeant got out of the jeep they were driving, to check out what was going on, The drunk had pointed at them with his gun and told them to back off.

At that moment Grant and Dana came driving past. The drunk took a shot at Dana, but he missed her by three inches.

The British S2 made a move to disarm the drunk. The G.I turned on him and shot him and his sergeant, both of them died on the spot.

Before Dana could stop him Grant was out of the jeep and he ran towards the G.I who turned and shot him in the Brain.

Dana screamed and shot the G.I in the knee and the
shoulder with her side arm, she made sure he would live to be tortured by E. Company.

A jeep with Luz and Perconte drove by they didn't stop, they just continued into town and when they told Speirs what happened, he and Foley got in a jeep and drove to the hospital and Camilla got in the jeep with them and they drove towards the scene.

A jeep came racing past them and Speirs recognized his wife and turned around he sped all the way back and the two jeeps arrived at the same time.

Camilla ran into the hospital and started to bark orders, she then escorted the stretcher with Grant on it to the O.R

Speirs started to follow, but Dana stopped him "Don't, he is in good hands, Camilla know what she is doing she did part of her residency under Dr. Shepherd and he is the best in the field and they have an excellent brain surgeon on staff here"

The Drunk had been brought to Company HQ and was still alive, but he was about to wish he wasn't. The E. Company men was milling around him swearing revenge, it turned out the culprit had tried to rape a girl in Zell am See, just an hour before he shot Grant.

Luz walked thru the door to the hospital and found Speirs "We cant find the weapon" he whispered to him

Speirs got on his feet and Dana followed him, Speirs rushed into HQ and shouted at the prisoner "Where is the weapon?"

"What weapon?" the prisoner spit out.

Speirs pulled his gun, reversed his grip to hold it by the barrel and hit the man right in the temple with the butt "When you talk to an officer you say Sir" Dana let out a little cough and Speirs looked at her and then at the man "Or ma'am"

The man was escorted to the brick, where he was beat until his blood ran.

Sink heard about the incident and came to HQ and asked where he could find Dana and Ron or as he put it; Captain Speirs time two.

The men directed him to the second floor, he knocked on the door and entered. Dana was leaning against the wall banging the back of her head against it, trying to get image of Grant being shot out of her mind.

Ron was standing with his hand on his hips and his back to the door, neither of them heard Sink enter. Sink took a moment to take in the scene before him, here was the two best company commanders in the 506th, but he could feel the fatigue in the room and decided to have them rotated back to Fort Bragg as soon as possible.

"Captain Speirs" Sink said and the two officers turned and looked at him

"You should just have shot the son of bitch" Sink closed the door and walked out of the HQ, he couldn't wait for it all to be over.

….

At the end of July the Company was transferred to France, the only veteran left was the long suffering Webster.

Winters, Speirs, Nixon and the girls was still with the division and was waiting to get rotated home.

In august Charlie and Emma was rotated home. Winter wrote his parents a letter, warning them about how his wife, they never met and her pregnant friend would show up on their door step.

Nixon, Winters, Speirs and Dana was sent to Berlin with 82nd air borne and Dana and Speirs fell in love with the town.

In November 101st was in activated and Nixon and Winters was dismissed from the army and went home and Dana and Speirs was rotated back to fort Bragg.

The war was over and now civilian life awaited.
