Prologue
Nixon, New Jersey 1946.
"Nixon Nitration, Mr. winters office" Emma answered the phone in the office of her husband, he had just stepped out and she was waiting for him to get ready, they were on their way to meet Lew and Charlie for lunch, they were planning a trip to North Carolina to visit Dana and Ron.
"Emma?" the person on the other end asked
"Yeah?" Emma reluctantly answered
"Emma, Its Dana, I am standing in front of the building and Nazi Lew hired as security won't let me in" Emma squealed and jumped up and down "Wait, I will be right there"
Emma walked down the hall and found her husband and Lewis cooing at the newest addition to the Nixon clan.
Charlie was looking at them, she rolled her eyes when she noticed her friend standing in the door
"If anybody is interested there is a US Army officers standing in front of the building and the security guard won't let her in"
Nixon looked at Emma and smiled "Wait did you say her?"
"Yes now get on the horn and tell your goon to let her in the building" Emma took the baby and cradled in her arms.
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door and a smiling Dana walked into the office. Nixon couldn't help but salute her and so did the rest of the people in the office, Emma then noticed the oak leaf clusters on Dana's uniform "You got a promotion?"
"No I just borrowed them" Dana retorted
Dana hugged her friends and the girls decided to head to the Nixon estate to have lunch.
The housekeeper had put on quite a meal and Dana taunted Charlie about how spoiled she was.
Dana then got serious "Sorry I couldn't make the wedding, but we had to head back to Germany for the Nuremberg trials"
"It's ok, we know how the army works, when they tell you to jump, you just ask how high" Charlie put on hand on Dana's arm.
The three girls talked about how their life was Charlie loved being a stay at home wife.
Emma worked for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation.
Camilla was at John Hopkins studying Brain stuff as Dana put it.
The girls were happy and for the first time in their life, they felt like they belonged somewhere and like they had some in their life they could trust, beside each other.
