Percy Jackson
Percy was laying in his bed inside his cabin when that fateful day happened. The Poseidon cabin was empty like always, save for him. Tyson visited every now and then but no new siblings arrived. Not that he was expecting any, if he did have any siblings they had to be very young and definitely not of age to come to camp.
By now, he and Annabeth had been investigating what was going on Olympus, neither of them coming up with any theories. Athena and Poseidon were acting pretty normal but he definitely did see the odd behavior Rachel was talking about in Apollo and Artemis. They always argued but for some reason, they were arguing more than usual, going as far as to get into physical fights.
The weather was acting weird too. Recently, thunderstorms were becoming pretty common in New York. One week, it had stormed for three days straight. It got so bad schools were closed and bridges were shut down. Zeus must've been throwing a temper tantrum or something.
Today was no different. Percy's cabin was dark as storm clouds rumbled overhead. The normally sparkling blue sea was a dull dark gray, the waves crashing violently against the beach head. It hadn't started to rain yet but Percy was waiting for the noise of rain hitting the top of his cabin.
A pounding at the door made Percy nearly jump off his bed. He climbed off his bed, grumbling from being startled. Whoever it was pounded at the door again.
"Coming!" He called. He made it to the door and opened it, revealing Hektor with a panicked look.
"Percy, it's Annabeth!" Hektor said hysterically.
Instantly, a cold feeling filled Percy's chest. He had just seen Annabeth at breakfast and she was fine, if something happened to her…
"What happened?" He asked.
"I-we-she was showing me where Zeus's fist was and this monster came out of nowhere!" Hektor said shakily, "I-I tried to help her. I'm sorry, I was too slow."
"Where is she?" Percy asked with a cold tone, his hand gripping around Riptide.
"At Zeus's fist. I ran here as soon as I could." Hektor said.
"Tell Chiron what happened, I'll be right back." Percy said, stepping out of his cabin. He drew Riptide and uncapped it, his trusty blade extending out to reveal the wickedly sharp blade.
I'm coming for you, Wise Girl. Just hold on. He thought as he charged down the steps of his cabin and sprinted towards the woods.
The weather started to worsen, by now a light drizzle was starting to come down but Percy didn't care. It could be storming for all he cared, Annabeth was the priority. His footsteps pounded against the dirt trail that led towards the collection of boulders called Zeus's fist. Sticks and leaves crunched as he sprinted.
His heartbeat boomed like artillery in his ears. Pure adrenaline was coursing through his veins as he sped towards where Annabeth was last seen.
Finally, the rocks came into view. Percy's heart sped up as his legs became a blur. He looked around desperately for that familiar blonde girl wearing a orange shirt. All he saw were gray rocks and the dark forest with its foreboding trees. A cold chill crept up his spine as he didn't see his girlfriend.
"ANNABETH!" He shouted loud enough for all of Olympus to hear. His shout was scary enough that even a Spartan would kneel.
To his horror, he didn't hear anything except his voice echoing against the rocks. Why wasn't Annabeth responding? Where was she? Was she okay? Was she alright? All these questions ran through Percy's head.
He started walking around the rocks, hoping he'd find Annabeth just knocked out or waiting for his rescue. He was too busy looking around that he flinched when he stepped on a substance slightly thicker than water. He looked down to see a red substance on the leaves underneath him.
Blood. Dark red blood.
"No…" He muttered, kneeling down and picking up a blood-soaked leaf. The leaf seemed to be mocking him for being too late. He had failed Annabeth. Now, she was gone. He'd never hear her laugh again. He'd never hear 'Seaweed Brain' come out of her mouth again. No more kisses. No more late-night talks. No more Annabeth.
"Annabeth!" Percy shouted again but his voice cracked as tears threatened to overtake him. Thunder rumbled softly as he fell to his knees, Annabeth's blood staining his jeans. The ground shook as the Earthshaker's son fell apart at the seams.
It felt like his whole world was falling apart. Annabeth had been such a central part of his demigod life. She'd been there since the very beginning of his life at Camp Half-Blood. She had been with him through almost every quest, every world-ending threat, through Tartarus itself. Now she was gone. Ripped away from him without warning.
Rage took over, pushing the sadness Percy felt aside. How the Hades was he supposed to move on? Who got off to him losing the one person he fell into Tartarus for? How dare they take Annabeth Chase away from him? Who would dare?!
The sound of footsteps came behind him. Percy slowly turned his head to see Jason and a few other friends of his such as Clarisse, Piper, Leo, and even the Stolls. Hektor stood in the background with a look of pure fear on his face.
"Percy, we heard about what happened." Jason said stepping forward, "Did you find her?"
Percy stared at them with dead eyes. His normally bright green eyes were darker than the abyss in the sea.
"Percy?" Jason asked.
"No." He said.
Piper stepped forward but she approached slowly, as if Percy was a injured wolf. "Percy, it's okay, come back to camp. We'll find her." She said.
FIND HER HOW?! Percy raged in his mind.
He stood up and turned, "Leave."
"Percy, don't be—" Clarisse tried to say.
"LEAVE!" Percy roared. The ground shook and thunder boomed overhead. Rain started to cascade down, soaking everyone including Percy himself, who normally didn't get wet. The air around the demigod was cold, ice cold.
"Get out of here!" Jason yelled, understanding that his friend was losing it. Together, all his friends took off towards camp, leaving Percy behind.
Percy turned back to the bloody leaves, "Whoever did this, I will find you."
A cold sea breeze flowed over Camp Half-Blood that day.
