Percy Jackson

Percy stared wide-eyed at the picture in front of him. He wasn't sure how Annabeth did it, but she had somehow gotten the footage from a house's security camera. There wasn't a video but the image itself was incriminating enough. The picture showed Hektor dumping gasoline on the side of a house as a small trail of fire followed behind him.

Annabeth had told him that Hektor told her that his parents were dead. Percy figured it was probably a car accident or maybe even a monster attack, he never would've expected it to be by Hektor himself.

Percy closed the photo and started looking through the rest of the folder. To his horror, there were newspaper clippings, evening news reports, and even full-on videos of Hektor committing crimes. He did everything from arson to full on mugging people in the alleyways of New York. Percy watched with horror as Hektor pushed over an old lady, searched through her purse, then kicked her before leaving.

"He's a monster." Percy muttered to himself. He thought he could trust Hektor, that he was just a normal kid in a bad place, now that was anything but the truth. He had no idea he was dealing with someone so deranged yet so deceitful.

Percy closed the laptop before he saw anything worse. His chest felt cold, and his head hurt. What was he supposed to do? Confront Hektor? That seemed like a horrible idea with all of camp hating him at the moment. Tell Chiron? That was really the only option he could take that could possibly have a good outcome.

He got up and shuffled over to the fountain, throwing a drachma in and saying, "Please show me Chiron on Mount Olympus."

The fountain gurgled for a few minutes before Percy gave up, Chiron clearly wasn't going to answer. He wasn't even sure if Iris-messages were working. For all he knew, she was under Zeus's orders to not carry messages.

Percy was in a tough spot. He really wanted to do something about Hektor, but he wasn't sure if anyone would even help him. People he considered friends, people like Nico and Piper, were all angry at him. He wasn't sure who he could trust. He was certain about who he couldn't trust though, if Hektor truly cared about being honest, he would've told him about all his crimes. Instead, he chose to keep his crimes a secret from Percy.

Percy wondered if Hektor had something to do with why camp was hating him. It made no sense that they all of a sudden hated him when they were friendly with him just the night before. The only thing Percy couldn't wrap his head around was the how. How would Hektor manage to convince everyone that Percy was a bad guy? How did he manage to turn all his friends against him?

That was when Percy got the bright idea of watching Hektor. Hektor was good but he wasn't all-knowing. Maybe if he acted like nothing was wrong, Hektor would assume that he could trust Percy. As of so far, there was no reason for him to not trust Percy.

Ten minutes later, Percy strolled out of his cabin with a big fake smile on his face. He made his way to the arena, casting a side glance to anyone who walked by, hoping that maybe he could find out what was going on. All he got were glares or dirty looks in response. Someone even gave him the finger.

Regardless, Percy didn't let any of that bother him, he couldn't afford to let his emotions spiral out of control. He walked into the arena and found Jason already in there, hacking and stabbing at the training dummies.

"Hey." Percy said as he walked over and started practicing.

Jason ignored him, instead stabbing at the dummies even harder.

Great. Percy thought, Jason wasn't talking to him either. Now he really had no one on his side.

There were others who came to mind that he could call upon. Camp Jupiter liked him somewhat, but he wasn't sure if he should call them. For one, he didn't want to risk them trying to help him, only to cause a war between Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood. Considering the current attitude of everyone at camp, that was a very real possibility.

Then there was Grover and Tyson. Percy could always come to rely on Grover and Tyson, but he wasn't sure how much help they would be to him. Grover wasn't really a fighter and Tyson wasn't invincible. It would be the three of them against all of Camp Half-Blood, they'd be slaughtered.

A girl with black hair and electric blue eyes popped into his mind. Thalia Grace. The Hunters. Percy pondered the thought of enlisting their help, they were some of the best warriors he'd ever seen and combined with his strength, they could easily subdue most of the campers. The only issue was that he hadn't heard from Thalia since the party on Olympus and he wasn't sure if she didn't hate his guts either. For all he knew, Jason might've called her and told her that Percy was going off the rails.

In between slashes, Percy really couldn't think of anyone else to help him. Maybe if Annabeth were still alive, she'd be able to suggest something. If she were alive, she'd be on his side for sure. Percy trusted her enough to the point he genuinely believed she would never betray him. The was the difference between her and the rest of Camp Half-Blood, she knew him in ways no one else did, she knew he had boundaries that he'd never cross. A lot of campers didn't know where Percy drew the line between morally acceptable and downright immoral.

Percy raised his arm for another slash when he noticed Hektor, wearing an orange toga, walking towards the amphitheater. Two Ares campers stood guard on either side of him, their spears and shields shining as if they had just been polished. Hektor wore a smug grin on his face.

Percy craned his neck to see what was happening. Sure enough, the amphitheater was packed, everyone except him and Jason were there. Speaking of Jason, the guy hadn't made any move to join the amphitheater, he was still training like always. Percy watched as a satyr blew a conch horn, signifying the beginning of whatever Percy was watching.

Jason looked over at the amphitheater and lowered his sword. He turned and walked out of the arena, but oddly enough, Percy watched as he went towards cabin one instead of the amphitheater. Maybe he just wasn't feeling speeches today.

Percy capped Riptide, he wasn't seriously training anyways. He ran behind one of the arena's pillars and watched as Hektor climbed onto a soap box and started his speech. Even from where Percy was, he could still hear Hektor's speech clearly.

"My fellow campers!" Hektor started, "I'm sure you all remember what happened last night."

The amphitheater cooed with approval.

"Well, I have new information of why it happened!" Hektor proclaimed, "While I was valiantly leading the charge against the catapults, I was able to overhear a conversation between the monsters and their commander." He cast a look at cabin six, "I'm sure many of you will be shocked to learn this, but I have learned that the commander of that attack was none other than Annabeth Chase herself!"

The amphitheater exploded with emotions. A few shouted rather derogatory words at Annabeth's name while others wept about the thought of her being a traitor. Percy meanwhile was frozen. Hektor said she was dead. How could she possibly lead an attack on Camp Half-Blood?

"I believe I know the answer as to why." Hektor said, calming the crowd down, "She meant to follow in the footsteps of Luke Castellan, believing she could destroy us then Olympus! She launched the brazen attack believing she would win, that we would surrender! Do you know why?"

The crowd stared at him as they waited for him to answer his own question. Percy also watched with furious green eyes, what bullshit was he going to spew? How dare he disgrace Annabeth's name with allegations of treason? Annabeth was the most trustworthy person Percy knew; she would never attack camp.

"It's because she had a inside man!" Hektor shouted.

The crowd yelled and shouted at the thought of a traitor among them. Percy watched on with awe. How could they possibly believe this bullshit? Seriously, how could they bring themselves to believe that Annabeth Chase, the girl who helped rebuild Olympus and saved the world by Percy's side, would attack the camp that she loved so dearly?

"Settle down, now." Hektor soothed, "I believe I know the identity of the traitor. This traitor was someone particularly powerful, one who no one would ever expect to betray us. Yet he is also the one that was the closest to Annabeth, the one who helped her with her dark deeds."

Percy knew what was coming before Hektor even said it.

"The traitor is Percy Jackson!"

It was at that point that Percy stormed out of the arena and shouted, "What the actual fuck is wrong with all of you?!"

Hektor turned and smiled at Percy though there was nothing friendly about the smile. Percy sure as hell wasn't smiling, he wanted to rip this little rat's head off.

"Alas, the traitor reveals himself!" Hektor said dramatically with an overly dramatic point, "Percy Jackson was the only other person to fall into Tartarus with Annabeth Chase. There, they proceeded to plot against Olympus, to have their revenge."

"Me and Annabeth would never do this!" Percy yelled to the crowd, "He's lying!"

The crowd glared at him with quiet rage. They didn't believe him. Percy faltered as he realized this, they were fully convinced that he was a monster, a traitor who wanted nothing more to destroy their lives. All those years fighting alongside them meant nothing apparently.

He turned to Hektor, "Why are you doing this? How?"

Hektor stepped off the soap box and motioned for his guards to not follow him. He slowly walked up to Percy, stopping about six feet away, "Because, you're in my way. You and Annabeth both just can't leave things alone. You both always had to fix everything, well not this time, now is my time to shine. As for how, I'm not ever going to tell you that. A winner never reveals their winning strategy to the loser."

"I never did anything to you." Percy growled.

"Doesn't matter, you were still in my way." Hektor said, "Keep your chin up, Percy, you'll be with Annabeth soon enough, rotting in Tartarus."

"You—" Percy shouted as he charged at Hektor. He really could've done better, perhaps drew Riptide and ended the little bastard where he stood but he wasn't thinking clearly.

Percy was nearly skewered by Hektor's two bodyguards. Luckily, he'd seen them moving and jumped back just in time. Their spears missed by inches. He jumped back and drew Riptide, he looked around. Everyone was getting up from their seats at the amphitheater and slowly drawing their own weapons.

"My friends!" Hektor called, "I say we take Percy Jackson, dead or alive, to Olympus for the gods to judge themselves. I'm sure the gods would love to parade his corpse around on the streets, as would we all."

"Yeah!"

"Get him!"

"Fuck you, Percy!"

Percy turned on his heels and ran, it was very out of character for him, but he didn't care, he had to survive. He had to tell someone about the insanity going on at Camp Half-Blood. There was no way the gods believed that he and Annabeth were responsible for the attack on camp, there was no way.

Speaking of gods, a certain sea god appeared at the forefront of Percy's mind. His dad surely was still on his side. Percy just couldn't see his dad betraying him for anything. If he could get to his dad, maybe he'd have a fighting chance.

There was just one small problem with that idea. The ocean was a mile away from camp and Percy was being chased by the entire camp.

Percy decided to jump the shark. He capped Riptide, shoved it in his pocket, and sprinted as fast as he could towards the beach. Campers shouted behind him; wind roared in his ears. His shoes pounded the dirt below as he ran into the forest and kept moving towards the beach. He dodged trees and nature spirits as he ran through the increasingly thick forest.

"He's getting away!"

Percy grunted as an arrow flew over his head. Arrows sped towards him, impaling themselves on the trees around him. The shouting of the campers behind him were growing quieter as he slowly escaped them. Percy was grateful that Annabeth had chased him so much, it really helped him run fast when he needed to.

Percy's legs grew tired as he ran, he would've been at the beach by now if he'd taken the trail but he knew better, if he'd taken the trail, he'd be dead. Apollo campers had deadly aim, they already nearly nailed him in the forest. If he had been any slower, he probably would've found himself with an arrow in his skull or back.

Finally, a light came through the trees. Through the light, Percy could see the familiar color of the sea and beach. Safety was right there. Just a little further.

"He's about to escape!" A camper shouted desperately as they saw him getting closer to the beach.

Percy put every ounce of energy he had into his sprint. He charged through bushes and trees towards the sea. The crash of waves was music to his ears, like the sound of angels singing. His legs screamed in pain but he didn't stop. He dodged one last desperate spear throw from a Ares camper before crashing into the sea, water flying all around him as he dove into the water like a torpedo.

Under the water, Percy could hear the sound of campers' crying out in despair as they lamented the loss of their targets. Percy grinned, he had gotten away, he was safe. He looked down at the coral reef beneath him. Fish swam by peacefully; a blacktip shark nuzzled his legs before swimming back to the ocean floor. All the fish that swam up to him seemed to be saying 'You're home now.'

Percy swam a little ways out to sea, praying his dad would find him. For once, he desperately needed the gods. As much as he cursed them, he found himself hoping that they would show some mercy, that they would help him like he helped them.

When Percy made it to the drop off, he looked back. He had a feeling he wasn't going to see Camp Half-Blood for a while. He turned back to the drop off, prayed on last plea, and dove into the dark blue abyss.

A/N: And here we are, the betrayal. I'm sure many of you already knew Hektor was going to be the traitor but i still wanted to give him a little more character rather than just another case of 'here's a random son of insert-generic-god here, oh and he's insanely OP and totally steals Annabeth away from him' I tried to give him a little more depth. Thanks to everyone who reviewed, you're awesome.
