A/N:Sorry for the long wait on this chapter and I thankyou for being patient with me on this. I have had a crazy year with things to do with my Mum and family, my depression and a serious case of writer's block. I am back though and I finally have some much needed inspiration. rest assured I will finish this story. please read and review as it does give me motivation to keep writing more chapters.

Chapter 8: What is in the box?
A couple days after Lauren had left the light fae compound, leaving Nadia behind in the special projects lab. She found herself feeling rather bored. Sure being able to spend as much time as she liked with Bo was certainly something akin to living the dream. But not being able to work on her medical research was really starting to bother not only her but Kenzi as well. There was only so many baked goods the young goth could consume before she combusted.
Bo however had no complaints about having Lauren home away from the Ash's grasp. She felt better knowing that no harm could come to their unborn child. So when Bo was contacted by a Fae looking for help she couldn't resist the opportunity to earn some much needed funds for their growing family. And maybe just maybe she might be able to get Lauren to help her tackle the case with her.
Bo, walked downstairs to their basement where Lauren was in the beginning stages of turning one of the rooms down there into a lab. Since she currently can't work at the light fae lab due to the dumb arrogance of the current snake of an Ash barring her from being able to work there. Was perched on a lounge chair she had Kenzie and Bo steal for her from her old loft she was living in when enslaved to the Ash. Kenzie had been sneaking her home lab equipment back to their renovated crack shack.
"Hey babe, feel like getting your science on? I have this new case about humans going crazy in a hotel within light fae territory. Apparently Lachlan is neglecting his duties. We can stick it to him while doing this what do you think?" questioned Bo as she approached Lauren from behind. Placing her head on her shoulder while wrapping her arms around the blonde doctor in a loving embrace. Lauren leans back into Bo's arms relishing in the comfort and safety it gives her.
"Sounds good, I need a break from doing nothing." Replied Lauren turning around to give Bo a loving kiss that Bo quickly deepened. Followed shortly by a short exchange of chi. Only breaking the flow when they needed air. Bo and Lauren head over to the hotel to help the humans, while Kenzie went to the Dahl to see if Hale and Dyson were taking their lunch break. As Kenzie wanted to see if either of them had any ideas on how to protect Lauren from getting hurt by the fae who are holding a grudge against Bo for seducing Lauren away from them. Since they are light Fae they should know how, at least that is what the young goth human hoped they could.
While at the Dahl Kenzie, managed to get the attention of a brownie named Mumphret who offered to clean their house for basically free. Trick however informed Kenzie that the brownie loves to eat honey and cereal. Not that Kenzie paid much thought to that information. "Hey Trickster, is there a way to keep the various fae that want to hurt Lauren away?" asked Kenzie once she obtained Trick's attention.
"Hmm, well one way would be for Lauren and Bo to choose a side. But since we both know neither will do that, the only thing you can do is ward the clubhouse to prevent unwanted and uninvited fae or humans from entering the property. I will give you the rune spells to invoke. We definitely need to protect Lauren while she is pregnant as she is more vulnerable than what a succubus usually is." Replied Trick, as he wiped one of the glasses from the rack just pulled out of the dishwasher.
"How do I set that up?" questioned Kenzie her attention peaked. Trick walked out from behind the bar to walk over to his cabinet that held his precious items. He picked up a couple of rune glass vials containing the required spell ingredients. He then brought it over to where Kenzie was sitting up at the bar.
"Here, give this to the brownie he will know what to do." Explained Trick as he handed over the two vials. Kenzie gave him a quick nod of the head before heading back to the club house, where Bo and Lauren had already returned. Bo was sitting in an armchair with an unusual headpiece on top of her head, that was reading her brainwaves while she was dreaming.
Kenzie then gave Mumphret the vials and asked him to set up the rune spells around the entrances and windows around the place to keep them all safe at least until Lauren gives birth. Since Lauren had reached the fifth month of her pregnancy, her libido and hunger had increased tenfold and they now knew that she was expecting a girl. Thankfully they were able to get the protection spells set up in time before Lachlan and his band of goon fae tried to enter their house only to be prevented by the magical barrier.
Causing said goons to crash backwards into each other nearly knocking down Lachlan who at the last minute moved out of the way of the sudden impact. With the loud sound both Bo and Lauren were startled out of their intense conversation about what was going on with Bo's dreams and why it was occurring. "What are you doing here Lachlan? You have no authority here." Questioned Bo holding out one of her knives in a defensive pose in front of Lauren. Bo's inner succubus growling in her ear at the audacity of the new Ash to come here to her house without notice or permission.
"I have come to collect the doctor, she has to answer for her attacking me." Declared Lachlan with as much authority he could muster without sounding like the snake he is. He leant against the doorframe which is as far as the magical protection would allow him. It was highly amusing to him getting under Bo's skin. He was looking forward to the day he could ask her to be his champion against the garuda. It was an added bonus that he could also get under the doctor's skin. He admired the two succubi, and he hoped that they won't think too badly of him once the truth was known.
"Look buddy, you can't just come to our home and expect to just take the woman I love away from me like that. It doesn't work that way. I don't care who the fuck you are!" exclaimed Bo, who in her agitation her blue eyes of her succubus shinning brightly and threateningly. The other Fae there with the Ash flinched at the sight remembering what the proud succubus before them was capable of doing.
"I am the Ash, I can most certainly take the doctor with me. It is my right as the leader of the light Fae." Explained Lachlan, a bored expression on his face as he lazily challenged Bo. That it was Lauren who got agitated but surprisingly enough she as able to control her inner succubus's reaction, as much as she would love to smack the smug smile of the Ash's face. She still needed to solve the lingering problem that is her ex in a coma.
"Ash, I will come with you on two conditions. First I would like to be able to continue my work on finding a cure for Nadia. Secondly I will need to have access to chi, for my unborn child's health. If you can't agree to my terms right here right now then I will gladly let Bo gut you with her knife and for Kenzie to finish you off with her sword which I know she is itching to do." Offered Lauren in an effort to try and calm down what could be a disastrous situation.
"Fine, your mate can come visit you in the lab to provide chi. You are not being hired on as staff, it is a punishment for you having attacked me. For a set amount of time to be determined by me you will be working without pay. If you accept those stipulations then we can come to an agreement." Retorted Lachlan, controlled amusement clearly written across his face. Which Kenzie noticed straight away flexing her grip on her sword in reaction to it.
"Agreed." Was all that Lauren could say as her urge to drain his chi from him until he was left with nothing but a smile upon his face. Was screaming at her to be acted upon. Bo, however was not inclined to reign herself in. her eyes flashed the bright blue of her succubus. Her hand poised to throw her dagger at the arrogant dick in front of her.
Lauren, took Bo's free hand into her own to get her attention. Bo turned around somewhat reluctantly, her succubus eyes still shining brightly. Only now that it was directed at the blonde doctor it was less in anger and more in desire and love. Lauren leaned in close to Bo before she pressed her lips to Bo's. which in turn calmed her down and enticed her to want to exchange some chi. Only breaking apart in order to breathe in some much needed oxygen. Bo held the blonde in close, willing her not to go with the ash.
Lauren pulled herself out of them embrace, then stepped through the magical barrier. Lachlan and his goons followed behind Lauren as she left. Bo and Kenzie then went to the dahl to try and get something to help Bo with the weird dream situation that had arose from sucking the chi of the guy who originally hired her. Being a sandman made Bo not able to determine the difference from being awake and dreaming. Trick told them that they needed a Baku, Bo went back to the Crawford to confront the sandman and the Mare, while Kenzie had the brownie Mumphret to find them a Baku, which Kenzie then brings with her to the Crawford to eat the nightmares plaguing Bo.
It took some coaxing on Bo's part but eventually she is able to snap out of the dream she was stuck in while still awake. Bo then proceeded to then defeat both the nightmare and the sandman. After thanking the Baku for removing the nightmare for her. Bo then confronted Lachaln. To which he replied, "Freelance for us. You won't have to swear allegiance. Won't be under my rule, I'll even pay you a retainer."
Bo interrupted to ask; "To do what?" from which Lachlan gave a smug, yet sleezy reply.
"Do the wonderful things that you do when the need arises." Bo, then saunters up to Lachlan to respond with; "No disrespect, but if anything arises; I'm sure you'll have it well in hand." She then finished that statement with a wink. Bo then turned and went to find Lauren in the lab, for she was in serious need of some much needed chi from the blonde doctor. Kenzie was back at the clubhouse, trying to convince the brownie to stay on, but he wasn't inclined to do so as the Baku needed him more.
Bo, came up behind Lauren wrapping her arms around her waist resting her hands on the slightly showing baby bump. As well as resting her head on Lauren's shoulder. "Mmm, Bo that feels nice." Stated Lauren as she enjoyed the warmth of having Bo hold her like she was. Bo didn't respond as she was barely staying awake at this point.
"Did you solve the case?" enquired Lauren, as she leaned into the embrace. Then finally turning around so that her and Bo were now mere inches apart from each other.
"Hmm, yeah we solved it. A dark Sandman and Mare were feeding in light fae territory. Kenzie was able to find me a Baku to eat the nightmares I was having. And then I caught the mare and sandman as the mare was in labor at the time. They got given over to the dark to be punished for their crimes. Then I confronted Lachlan about it. He wanted to hire me on as a freelancer to do his dirty work. I sort of rejected the offer, with an inuendo about him having it in his hand. Should I have accepted it though?" replied Bo.
"No, you did the right thing Bo. He hasn't given you reason enough to work for him. We are good financially. I have my savings and once I serve my sentence I can get my own clinic up and running." Replied Lauren, before leaning in and giving Bo a loving kiss on the lips. She then kissed Bo in the crook of her neck before resting her face into Bo's neck. Bo pulled Lauren in as close into her arms, pressed up against her body as the small baby bump would allow.
"So does that mean you have to stay here in the light fae compound? Or can you come home with me?" asked Bo, not wanting to let go of her mate anytime soon. The idea of being without Lauren at home with her and Kenzie was an awful idea. She shuddered at the thought of having to sleep alone. To go without the chance to feel the doctor in her arms as the spooned in bed. Her hand on the growing baby bump.
"I am not certain, but I don't care I will be coming home with you now. He can't prevent me from being with you, no matter what." Replied Lauren. Their loving embrace was interrupted by Lachlan who had followed Bo into the lab.
"You can go home with Bo Lauren, as I did agree to you being able to have access to chi. I am aware of consequences that occurs when you don't get the chi from your mate. Especially with you being pregnant. You will be here every day for your shifts in this lab like before, then go home to your mate to get your daily chi requirements. There will be no deviation from this and you won't be helping Bo in any of her cases unless it involves the light fae. Am I understood?" stated the Ash, impatiently and reluctantly. Bo and Lauren nodded in the Ash's direction. Not even daring to verbally respond to his demands as both women were very tempted to drain the life out of him for his gall to dictate what they can and can't do.
Instead they break their embrace and head on home. Where they once there quickly headed up to their bedroom to make love and feed. Three weeks goes by with Lauren following Lachlan's demands frustrating both women to no end, while Bo and Kenzie help Dyson and his shifter friend with his problem with theft of the death worm and Dyson's former pack mate betraying them. And the discovery of the Fairy Ciara who Dyson was pleased to reunite with.
Then not to long after those events the Morrigan's sinnatia assistant came by the clubhouse to request Bo to come to the Morrigan's offices. She then enlisted Bo's help in finding the runaway artist who had killed a dark fae elder and painted some dark fae secrets unto the walls in the public street art happened to be painted often. Bo and Kenzie find the volatile artist and found out that the Morrigan's assistant was the one behind all the drama. Evony gave Bo a box with a red ribbon on it, with the what she thought would be a shock about 'Lauren's girlfriend' which the Morrigan was unaware that Bo already knew about.
Bo brought the box home to where Lauren and Kenzie where waiting for her to return. Bo brought it over to the lounge room where her two favourite women were watching some show on their tv. Lauren was the first to acknowledge Bo's presence. "What is that box you are holding?" asked Lauren with a rather curious expression on her face.
Bo shrugged her shoulders before sitting in between Lauren and Kenzie on the lounge. "I have no idea, but the Morrigan thought she was revealing some big news about telling me about Nadia. Like she thought you hadn't told me about her. But she did say this is the cure to fixing Nadia and getting you out of the light fae's clutches like she cares about that anyway…" huffed out an annoyed Bo. She wasn't annoyed at Lauren or Kenzie she was annoyed at the fae leader's presumptions that she was completely unaware about Lauren's former flame.
And their insistence in trying to control their lives. She handed Lauren the box and then settled into the lounge to get comfortable beside the two most important people in the succubus's life. "So are you going to open it?" asked Kenzie, who was just as curious as to what was in that box as the two succubi she lived with. Lauren's reply was to undo the bow and open the box to reveal a rusty old nail.
