Dragan and April were helping Donnie search for information on Kavaxas and Demodragons when Leo entered the lab.
"How's it going, guys?" Leo looked between the two girls and Donnie before moving over to Casey who had his hockey stick laying over his shoulder.
"Casey Jones is armed and ready!"
"Check it out. I found this at Ray's Occult Book Shop." April said while holding open the book for him to see. "It's got weird stuff on Demodragons."
"Which is great, because my internet sources are spotty at best."
"Agreed, Donnie. Aw o' ma info is only on regular, fire breathin' dragons, not demonic dragons. Psh, lame." Dragan closed her book and set it on the table.
"Well, we need to be ready soon-" Before Leo could finish his sentence they all heard Mikey yelling to Raph about Chompy. Leo walked out to see Mikey playing video games, surrounded by a mess, and Raph working out. Kara was sitting cross-legged on the couch sharpening her blades while listening to music.
"That's it. Meeting in the Dojo." Leo said, walking over to Mikey.
Kara glances up and moved one headphone from her ear, thinking she heard him say something.
"One minute, Leo." Mikey said, his eyes focused on the game in front of him.
"Not one minute. Remember what Splinter said about being diligent?"
"Yeah. A rolling stone with moss on it..needs to play video games?" Mikey questioned, glancing at Leo for a second only to return back to his game.
"Tigerclaw's still out there with a dragon, and all you can think of is "Super Commando 3"?"
"Calm down, Leo. They won't be able to do anything for another hour." Kara said to him, looking down at the time on her phone. By the clock, the sun should be getting ready to set soon.
"Yeah, chillax, Leo. Hot head isn't going anywhere."
"Well, then you have time to clean up all your comics and empty pizza boxes. In fact, clean up now, or no TV for a week." Leo looked around at the mess then to Mikey with a grin on his face.
"A week?!" Mikey spun around staring at Leo like he grew another head. "Raph, back me up, bro!"
"Better listen to him, Mikey. Leo is the Sensei now." Raph turned to his brothers with a smug look on his face.
Before Leo could say anything Donnie and the others ran into the living room.
"Guys, the motion sensors picked up a couple of mutants. They look to be heading toward Shredder's old lair."
"Better check it out. Raph, Mikey, since you two have nothing better to do, go track the signal." Leo ordered to his brothers.
"Why do I have to be on patrol duty?" Raph walked up to Leo clearly angry about this.
"Just do it, Raph!" Now Leo and Raph were in each other's faces.
"Hey, why don't you get off my-"
Leo spun around behind Raph and whacked pressure points on each side of his head, paralyzing him for a moment and dropping to the floor.
Kara chuckled as she stared down at Raph. "Should of listened, Raphie."
"Whoa, Sensei Leo is kind of strict." Casey commented with a snicker.
Dragan looked between the two in worry hoping they wouldn't get into another fight. When Raph got up and walked away with Mikey she looked to the ground while Leo shouted that it was stealth and recon only. "Maybe I should go wi them. Just in case."
"They're capable of handling themselves. They'll be ok." Kara looked over at Dragan with a reassuring smile before gathering her things up. "Come on, let's keep searching. Our dragon friend must have a weakness." She gave Dragan a grin making her smile and nod.
"Everythin' has a weakness." She nodded and followed after Kara, April, Donnie, and Casey following behind her.
Everyone was quiet as they searched through books and websites for anything on Demodragons. Kara was beginning to grow frustrated from the lack of knowledge on the internet and went to close the tab when a link to Myths and Urban Legends caught her attention. Thinking it was a start, she tapped her thumb on her phone screen.
The site lead her to the history of Demodragon's and how they were once feared and sought out for their scales and powers. Reading on, time passed and as humans evolved they began to disappear. No one knows where they had gone but it is to believe they walk among us humans today. The site even showed blurred photographs of human like figures with dragon like wings.
Kara blinked in surprise at the site only to dead-pan when she figured the photos were fake and that she was wasting her time. Plus, the site called them "Dragos" instead of "Demodragons", guess they thought she misspelled it or something. But, there was no harm in saving the page to show them later on so she bookmarked it to her tabs and closed her phone, stopping for the time being.
"Ooch, I'm gettin' nothin' over here. How about you guys?" Dragan leaned back and turned to her friends.
"I'm finding facts about Demodragons but nothing that gives away any weaknesses." April pouted while closing the book.
"Yeah, same here." Donnie spun around in his chair to look at the girls and slouched backwards.
"Guess it's time for a little break then, huh?" Kara stood to her feet, pocketing her phone, and walked over to Donnie and gave him a kiss on top of his head. "Dragan and I will get some pizza. Hopefully then we'll have a plan."
Dragan hopped down from the table she was sitting at and followed after Kara to get some food for everyone, knowing she'd need some help, and left.
When they returned they could hear the guys brainstorming ideas.
"I'm telling you, we go in all pucks blazing." Casey shouts with a wide grin on his face.
"And I'm telling you, Hot Head is too powerful for that!" Donnie said, shutting down his plan all together.
"Alright, enough! We wait til Raph and Mikey get back for our next move." Leo turned around to them hoping to calm them down.
Kara rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a welcomed visitor.
"You always did like bossing people around."
Kara and Dragan jumped in surprise to see Karai and Shinigami right next to them.
"Woah, Karai! Give a girl a little warning next time. We're carrying precious cargo." Kara grinned at the two making both of them smile.
"Karai." Leo smiled seeing the two girls here.
"I wish I could say this was a social visit." Karai turned serious, looking at them all.
"Well, we hae enough pizza tae feed a family o' thirty. Who says it can't be a little bit o' a social visit?" Dragan held up the boxes she was carrying and smiled to Karai.
"Hmm. I suppose it can be." Karai and Shinigami looked at each other with a smile and the girls moved aside to let them inside first then followed them and the others into the kitchen where they began to eat and talk.
Leo was making tea when Karai began to tell them about what had happened. "Someone new is trying to take over the Foot Clan. He's after the Kuro Kabuto."
"If the enemy is fighting over it; it can't just be a mere helmet, can it?" Kara held up a slice of pizza before taking a bite.
"In the olden days o' ma ancestors, it is said tae believe that when a knight dies part o' his soul fuses into their armor for the next generation. So when they earn their armor an sword they will not only hold true honor but carry the bravery an strength o' those who had fallen before them into battle."
"Really?" Kara blinked in surprise at Dragan who nodded with a smile.
"Mhmm. That is why ma shield an sword are so precious tae me. This is the exact weapon ma ancestor, Drago Macintosh, used during battle." Dragan pulled out her sword from her scabbard and held it high, smiling with pride.
Everyone stared in awe before Casey Jones turned away, waving it off.
"So what? I say we let the bad guys squabble over Shredder's stupid hat." Casey commented as he stuffed a whole slice of pizza in his mouth.
Dragan dead-panned and raised her hand ready to bonk Casey over the head for lacking respect for her ancestor's property when Raph and Mikey entered the kitchen, holding onto each other.
"We might not have a choice." Raph said to them all. "Guess who else is going after the Kabuto? And you're not gonna believe why."
Once April and Dragan patched the boys up they began to explain Tigerclaw's plan.
Kara spat out her pizza, eyes wide in panic while Karai slammed her fist on the table, almost knocking over the freshly made tea Leo had made. Luckily, he caught it in time before it could spill.
"What?!" Both girls yelled.
"They're going to use the Kabuto to bring Shredder back from the dead? Is that possible?!"
"Totally possible! Didn't you see "Evil Ninja 4: Ninja Resurrection"?" Mikey added in, leaning over the table and snuck a couple slices of pizza.
"Well, we are dealing with a dragon spirit from the underworld."
"If they were able tae not only summon him, but bring Rahzaar back from the dead, then it seems highly possible."
"Man, just when I thought he was gone for good.." Kara lifted her cap off her head and ran her hand through her hair.
"Do you think Tatsu is working with Tigerclaw?" Leo asked Karai.
"He seems to think he's the new Shredder." Karai informed him.
"But if we keep him from getting the Kabuto, the Foot will side with it's deserved leader." Shinigami added in, moving her arm around Karai's shoulder and smiled down at her friend.
"This all just seems like a game. It's hard for me to grasp the fact that the decision on leading a whole clan..is based on whoever holds the Kabuto. That doesn't sound like loyalty at all."
"As said before, there must be somethin' unique about that helmet for not only us, but two sides o' enemies tae want it." Dragan glanced down at Kara and blinked noticing her eyes were wide and unfocused, staring down at her half-bitten pizza. She gently grasped her shoulder knowing she was still thinking about what Raph just told them.
"After all Shredder put you through, why not just give up on the Foot?" April asked Karai.
"It's not that simple, O'Neil. Tatsu will be coming after all of us. We have no choice but to take him down."
"Everyone suit up. We'll be leaving in fifteen minutes." Leo informed them all. Everyone nodded and left to grab their gear though Mikey stayed behind to finish the pizza. That is, til Raph dragged him along by his mask, though he grabbed a few slices himself on the way out.
Kara put on her gloves and brought out her newly sharpened blades, smiling at how they gleamed in the light. "Nice." She whispered before putting them away and tied her blindfold over her eyes then lowered it to her neck.
"Everyone ready?" Leo asked as they all gathered in the living room. He looked around seeing nods of approval and nodded to them. "Good. Let's go." They all piled in the Party Wagon and Leo drove to the destination Karai gave him with Dragan and Kara in the front.
When they arrived Leo opened the door for them, Karai hopping out first.
"You guys need a less conspicuous ride."
"Hey, don't fix what isn't broken." Kara shrugged at her with a grin.
"You sure this is it?" Leo asked Karai.
"There are only a few Foot safe houses where he can be."
"Yeah, after you three destroyed most of them." Kara crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at the three, still sensitive about how they almost killed Dragan.
Dragan sighed and placed her head on top of Kara's head knowing that that seemed to always calm her down. "So, if Tatsu has the Kabuto then we just sneak in, grab it an go."
"Mikey, Kara, you're with me, Karai, and Shini." Leo said looking between the two.
"Aw-yeah! Team Shini-angelo! This girl gets me, don't you?" Mikey leaned his head towards Shinigami who giggled and shrugged her shoulders. "You do make me laugh." Mikey gave the thumbs up with a smile.
Kara rolled her eyes and grabbed him, pulling him out of the van. "Come on, Romeo."
"Go after the Kabuto. I'll take care of Tatsu." Karai told them all.
"No, stealth only. The rest of you hang here on lookout. Rahzaar and Fishface are still out there." Leo ordered before they all ran into the safe house.
While Shinigami and Mikey handled the lights Karai, Kara, and Leo handled the Foot soldiers on guard, Kara taking down one side and meeting the two in the middle. Kara began to climb down and ran for the Kabuto while Leo and Karai went to take down Tatsu but stopped when she heard metal clash upon metal. Turning around Leo and Karai were face to face with Tatsu, both with their weapons out.
She turned back around and saw Mikey and Shinigami land in front of her, weapons out. "Go for the box, dudette, we'll watch your back." She nodded to Mikey as all four brought out their weapons, surrounding Tatsu.
Dragan and the others were waiting calmly in the van, April using her powers to try and sense Rahzaar and Fishface but let out a gasp when she sensed something else. "Guys, we have company."
Donnie gasped and looked down at his device to see they were surrounded and they all jumped out of the van, weapons out, to see Foot Soldiers around them.
"Oh. Good. Was afraid this would be too easy."
Kara decided to run for the box while the others took care of Tatsu but when her hands touched the box she could hear them all struggling and turned around to see Shinigami and Mikey on the ground. "He must be good.." She turned around and lifted the box up to run til she froze, hearing Leo yell, "Tatsu is blind?!"
She slowly turned around and lo and behold: his eyes were completely white. She lowered the box back down, a grin crossing her face.
"Don't you know I can hear you coming a mile away?" Tatsu shouted as Karai and him began to fight one on one. "You couldn't defeat me yourself, so you employed your freaks to fight me, yes?" Tatsu forced Karai back, she stumbling in front of Leo.
"What's he talking about Karai?"
"Did my old student not tell you the story of poor Hattori Tatsu?" Both of them ran at each other and clashed swords but Karai flew over him and dropped to the ground. She immediately spun herself to her knees and threw some shuriken stars his way. "I was born blind, but with an acute sense of hearing. They say it gave me a sixth sense." He stood at a stance to where the shuriken stars landed around him. He turned his head and blocked Karai's attack as she ran past him.
"Plan Blackout was definitely not the way to go, dudes." Mikey muttered, opening one eye.
"Shredder recognized this as a skill when all others mocked me. I used that prejudice in my favor until I became Shredder's right hand." He turned around and blocked another of Karai's attacks and leaned in with a smirk. "The Blind Swordsman." He punched her, throwing her to the ground and pointed his sword at her. "When this brat recruited Foot Soldiers of her own, they attempted to eliminate me."
"You did what?" Leo asked in surprise.
"Tatsu, I-"
"Wow, Karai, just when I thought you couldn't get lower than Shredder."
Leo and Karai turned around, Tatsu lifting his head up slightly to see Kara walk towards them.
"You don't understand! I was arrogant back then! But my friends have nothing to do with that." Karai turned back to Tatsu but blinked when Kara placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Relax, Karai, that was in the past. You've made up for your mistakes the hard way. That's why we're here; Because friends help one another." She smiled at Karai, who smiled in return and seemed to relax.
"Do not insult me with your platitudes, girl! You friends will share your fate."
"Then share we shall." Kara smirked and she took off her shoes, setting them neatly aside. "You know, I've always wanted to fight someone who was blind. How about we even the playing field." Kara's grin widened as she lifted the blindfold over her eyes.
"What are you talking about gi-" Tatsu immediately lifted his sword, his eyes widening, blocking her attack. "What?!"
Everyone was holding their own with the Foot Soldiers and Dragan stared in confusion as she blocked the Foot's attack with her shield then punched them, not even having to bring out her sword. "Well, this is a disappointment. When we time traveled, ye ninja were so skillful, I could barely keep up. Ye guys hae gone soft." She placed her hand to her hip and looked over as Donnie yelled about waxing his van only to blink in surprise when daggers and shurikens stabbed into the van around him. "Don't get distracted, Donnie!"
"Ah, we don't have time for this!" Raph suddenly yelled as he grabbed a top to a trashcan and bulldozed his way past the Foot Ninja's. Dragan grinned and nodded. "I like your idea, Raph." She said with a laugh and followed his lead.
Kara and Tatsu seemed to be evenly matched as neither of them were landing a blow on the other. "I expected more from the students of the great Splinter, but it seems you are on a different level than they are."
Kara narrowed her eyes under the blindfold and made first contact by kicking him in the stomach. He slid backwards some and glared her way. "You have no right to speak his name. And you're looking at his first student." Kara went back to her fighting stance but gasped seeing Shinigami and Mikey intervene. "No, guys, stop!" She shouted as they threw their chains at him but it was too late. He caught their chains in his sword and hand, pulling them down.
Mikey and Shini's eyes widened as they were pulled along with the chains, Tatsu kicking them in the air and both of them crashing into the water whereas Tatsu landed perfectly safe on his feet.
Kara lowered the blindfold to see them floating in the water for a few seconds before they began to sink. "No!" She shouted and ran to save them while Karai transformed into her half-snake form. Kara dove into the water and first pulled Shinigami out then went for Mikey. When she lifted Mikey out of the water she went to Shinigami and began to perform CPR to force out any water that had entered her lungs. Hearing the gasp and gagging of water, Kara slumped over in relief and glanced over noticing Mikey coming to. She moved over to him to make sure he was ok and lifted her head up to see the others joining the battle.
She narrowed her eyes at Tatsu, wanting so bad to fight him, but knew he wasn't her battle to fight.
Dragan ran over to her to make sure she and the others were ok. "What did we miss?"
"Tatsu is blind. I don't think anyone is going to be able to stop him..unless they think smart." Kara smiled when she saw Leo grab Casey's explosive pucks. She stood to her feet and clenched her fists tightly. Dragan noticed her demeanor and stood as well, watching Karai and Leo teamwork Tatsu. "Ye really wanted tae fight him, didn't ya?"
"I've never fought anyone like him; none that used their senses to fight. It would of been something new and exciting but..I have to step back and leave it to Karai." Kara lowered her eyes crossing her arms over her chest.
Dragan looked at her and gave a small smile with a raised brow. "This is hard for you, isn't it?"
"Oh, you have no idea." Kara tilted her head in her direction with a chuckle. "I know I could of beaten him."
When Karai finally brought Tatsu down everyone grew nervous thinking Karai was going to end him permanently only to relax when she changed back to her human form and turned to face the Foot soldiers. "Tatsu was using you, just like the Shredder, tarnishing the name of the Foot Clan for his own glory. The Foot deserve a noble destiny. One with honor."
"You truly think you deserve to wield the Kuro Kabuto?" Tatsu groaned, pulling himself with his elbows.
"Deserves got nothing to do with it. Go back to Japan and rot." Karai kicked Tatsu back down and grinned.
"No, but he did deserve that." Kara said with a chuckle as she and Dragan walked over to them, Mikey carrying Shinigami. All of them blinked when they heard a growl and looked over to see Rahzaar.
"Tatsu!"
Tatsu stumbled to his knees and reached a hand out to him. "Bradford! Join me!"
"The Kuro Kabuto is worthy only of-"
"The Shredder." Kavaxas said as glass from the window he entered through exploded around him. Dragan held up her shield, guarding her, Mikey, and Shinigami.
Kavaxas walked up to Tatsu and grabbed his face, lifting him up off the ground. Kara and Dragan's eyes widened as they watched Kavaxas drain the life from Tatsu and dropped his corpse onto the ground.
Kara looked away in disgust but gasped when Kavaxas brought out the Kuro Kabuto from it's box.
"No! The Kabuto!" Raph and Leo had to hold Karai back.
"The power to resurrect Shredder is ours! Destroy the Turtles. Leave no one alive!" Tigerclaw ordered Kavaxas.
"As you command." Kavaxas smirked at them all as his chest began to glow.
"Tigerclaw!" Kara yelled, glaring at him and charged for them both.
"Kara, stop!" Dragan ran after her and grabbed her hand, pulling her close to her as she held her shield out in front of them just as Kavaxas' fire flew at them.
"Kara! Dragan!" April and the others shouted, for both of them were outside April's protective bubble.
The fire spread around the room as Tigerclaw and Kavaxas fled the scene, chuckling darkly. In the center of it all Dragan kept Kara close, squeezing her to make sure she wouldn't get hurt all the while gripping onto her shield for dear life. She blinked when she felt no flames nor heat around them and tilted her head up some. A gasp escaped her lips, eyes wide in shock when she saw the ghost of Drago Macintosh before her with his arms spread out, blocking the flames from reaching them. "Drago.."She whispered, a single tear sliding down her face. He glanced back at her and gave a smile before he disappeared.
Once the fire calmed down, April lowered the bubble and ran to where Kara and Dragan were to see them both completely unscathed.
"What the?" April looked at them in surprise as Dragan lowered her shield.
"But how?" Donnie asked as he embraced Kara, glad to see she was ok.
"As I said before.." Dragan stared down at her shield and held it close, smiling softly. Leo walked over to her and held her close, glad to see she was unharmed.
"I hate to break this up but.." Everyone turned to Raph to see him bent down between an unconscious Shinigami and Casey Jones.
"We gotta get them to a hospital." Donnie said, looking at them all.
Kara closed her eyes to calm herself and nodded. "Come on, let's go."
Dragan and Kara dropped Casey and Shinigami in front of the hospital, Kara shouting for help to get someone's attention before they fled the scene. They climbed to the roof where the others were just in time to see two ambulance drivers run over to them and take them inside.
"Shini and Casey will be alright. They just need to rest." April explained to Karai, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"Guys, I'm so sorry. I was ashamed by what I did, going after Tatsu. I didn't think it would come back to hurt us." Karai lowered her head in shame.
"Splinter once taught me, "Underestimating your enemy is a deadly weakness, but trusting in your allies is a great strength." We're gonna need your help against Hot Head."
"Woah, I can't think of anything more frightening than Shredder coming back to life.." Donnie muttered nervously.
Kara was sitting on the edge, leaning over in thought with her arms in her lap. Her brows lifted in worry at the thought of Shredder coming back to life and going after her friends and family. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to hold back tears. She can't allow the enemy another chance to-
Feeling hands on her shoulders she looked up to see Donnie and Dragan smiling reassuringly down at her. She smiled up at them and closed her eyes, placing both her hands over theirs.
"We can't let that happen! We have to stop Tigerclaw and Kavaxas once and for all!" Raph said as he held his hand out. The others placed their hands over another and Kara nodded as she looked around at her friends.
Her worries were beginning to fade and a grin plastered her face. "We all can do this."
"Together." Dragan nodded with a grin as well.
