Clary's POV:

The thought of the rejection brought tears to my eyes. I hate him. I thought we had been getting close but then this summer changed everything.

As I entered the class it felt as if someone was staring at me. Looking up to see who, I saw a flash of gold move. Shrugging it off, I went to sit in my seat. The third-row left side near the window. As I put in my earphone, I felt someone settle in beside me. Turning to look, I saw him, Sebastian.

He wasn't bad but it was just that he constantly flirted with me. I admit, he was handsome, dark lock, dark eyes that stood out against his pale skin. The only problem with him was that he flirts like crazy, not just with me, but with anything that moves. Isabelle had suggested that I should go out with him and give in to his persistent desire to take me on a date before the last school year ended but I couldn't see a proper relationship with him. I could never have enough trust to believe that he wasn't doing anything when I wasn't there.

"Hey Clare," said Sebastian

"How was your summer, I assume horrendous without me,"

"It was actually fabulous thank you very much, Sebastian." He leaned forward and shot me a small smile.

"So what about that date we were talking about last."

Just as I was about to roll my eyes and say no, memories of Jace rejecting me hit me. You know, I am not going to be upset about some dumb boy.

Taking a deep breath, "Where are we going?"

The dark-haired beauty shot up and started to do some kind of victory dance I assume.

"Mr. Verlac, can you tell us all what is so amusing?" said a stingy voice ahead of us.

Looking in front of me I saw Mrs. Lyons with an angry look on her face.

she wasn't the nicest women, scratch that she was horrible, breath and she would give you a detention.

"Well, the lovely redhead here is going to take my offer on a date," replied Sebastian with a smile on his face.

Whispers sprung out in the classroom. I turned to look at Jace and saw him frowning. Why did it matter to him?

"Detention. Both of you. Now!"

"You know this is all your fault," I groaned to Sebastian as I gave my pink slip to Mr. Williams the detention teacher.

I took a seat in an uncomfortable plastic chair in the detention room. At least now I had time to draw.

"Well, it's not my fault, when a pretty lady says yes to you, you just have to burst out in a dance."

Red spread through my cheeks at the compliment.

"Cute," while winking at me.

"Shut up," looking down, trying to hide my blush not giving him any satisfaction.

As I took out my art book and a pencil, someone shoved me towards the right.

"Hey there, you guys missed me," said a cocky voice. I turned to my left to see Jace, trying to squeeze between me and Sebastian.

"Why are you here?" I asked with a slight bitterness in my voice.

"Lesson was boring."

That wasn't my Jace, he adored English, he believed words were the most amazing thing, that they can show anyone thoughts and emotions. He constantly read so he was always was ahead of everyone.

"So I've heard that you guys are dating now," Jace asked, with curiosity laced through his voice.

"No"

"Yes"

Both me and Sebastian looked at each other. "What are you doing?" I mouthed to Sebastian.

"Trust me" he mouthed back.

"Yeh we're gonna go to the cinema on Saturday. Hey, Jace me and red make a cute couple yeh?"

Frustration was evident on the Jace's face.

"Whatever," he muttered as he stood up and walked out of the classroom.

"Mr. Herondale get back here or you're getting another detention!" shouted Mr. Williams, standing up frustrated.
