Eve stared in silence as both amazement and shock filled her mind. For a guy who was rather muscular and active. The guy could put away food like a human being who hadn't eaten a decent meal in his damn life. He was stuffing a pile of breakfast burrito's into his mouth like a cartoon character. Did this guy even have a gag reflex? She was waiting for him to cough, splutter, start choking etc. But he was showing no signs of stopping, even a few other customers were starting to stare at him.
She knew this guy was eccentric, but spending more time with him she really was blown away by how he was in person. Until now they had brief encounters which she tried to not make longer than necessary. More often than not this guy brought trouble with him everywhere, plus given she had her own issues to worry about. She would rather not get involved with his business too, as it would only give her more to worry about. So how did she end up in this situation? Oh yeah, he was very persuasive.
She was so hungry and felt so awkward, she just to hell with it and ordered at a random. Grabbing a coffee, a doughnut, a breakfast bun and paid for it. The coffee was heaven, being able to sit down and relax, to really enjoy her coffee instead of leaving it to go cold like she would at work. However, watching Deadpool eat like this was both impressive and off-putting. Slowly chewing her own food and holding her coffee in mid-air, unable to move. Like a small child in front of a TV at the weekend, watching cartoons. He was unlike any person she had ever met before, he was incredibly immature, lacked responsibility, was spontaneous, manic and also very resourceful. Though she had to admit, he was rather unhinged which made her worry about his mental health.
However, though they had met in her civilian form and her superhero form. He hadn't clicked that they were the same person yet, which came as a relief to her given he was known as the Merc with the mouth. If word got out as to who she really was, it would come as a danger to her and those she loved. She had a lot of enemies who wanted nothing more than to humiliate her and destroy her life as revenge for preventing their crimes. If word got out as to her human identity behind the mask, she would be in severe danger. Hell, her last relationship had ended because she couldn't tell Marcus-James about her identity as the web-slinger.
She hated lying to anyone, but in her case it was a necessity to keep her personal life and work life a secret. The risks that came with protecting civilians was too high, she couldn't let anyone else get hurt because of her, it was better that she lived a dual life and kept her secrets to herself. Imagining something awful happening to the ones she loved gave her nightmares. So even at the risk of being hated or coming across as distant, they would still be ok no matter what.
He had been her second crush and first serious relationship in college and high school. Wild, honest, playful, kind and trusting. Their time together had been one of the best relationships of her life, having fallen for him hard. However, her dual identity as Spiderwoman and secrets because it caused a strain on their relationship. However, though breaking up had broken her heart and caused her to distance herself from relationships for a while. She held no sense of bitterness towards him because of it, knowing her faults had caused their relationship to fall apart. As much as it hurt, she had grown up as a woman because of it.
It had been a while since she had entered a relationship. Deciding her career and focusing on her well-being was what was best for her at the minute, uncomfortable with the idea of a relationship during this time. It was bad enough that society tried to pressure her into getting a lover because of marriage, childbirth and all of that crap, like it was the only important thing you had to worry about as an adult. Thus she was flustered by the fact this guy was so dedicated to pursuing her.
Wade looked up, his mouth dripping with the juices of his breakfast burrito. Having forgotten that she was even there, due to the fact she was so quiet. Her eyes wide as she watched him consume his food, frozen stiff like a statue. She was so cute it hurt, her heart-shaped baby face, her big baby blue eyes, her pale skin, her soft brown waves, and that slender body of hers. How one woman could be so perfect he had no idea, grateful nobody had snatched her up while he had been separated from her. She was holding her coffee like an accessory and the food sat before her untouched. She was so scrawny he wondered when she last ate a decent meal. He may not have been the sanest person, but even he could see she needed to eat something. He sat up and wiped his mouth "Y'know sweet-cheeks, that food is gonna go cold if you just sit there" he replied casually.
Her posture was stiff as if she was defending herself from whatever interest anyone took in her. Pretty much a defensive pose, trying to hide her personal secrets from him, but that only intrigued him further. Wanting to crack open that pretty little head of hers and learn all about her secrets. He wanted to know what made her tick, what her dreams were made of, what her hobbies were etc. He was a curious guy and she had an affect on him, driving him crazy. Well making him crazier that is.
He never saw a man on her arm, nor any other guys showing an interest in her. She also seemed very timid and eager to avoid the attention from the male gaze. Leading him to suspect one of two options, the first being that she was a homosexual with no interest in the male gender. The second being that she lacked attention from the male gender, in general, causing self-consciousness and awkwardness around said gender. It could be either but he really hoped it was the second one, because he was so desperate for her to be interested in him.
Eve gripped her coffee, blushing as she found herself being caught out by this guy. She had never been one to enjoy unwanted attention from people in general, trying to keep her head down and avoid trouble. She sipped her coffee in silence, not averting her gaze from him. "It's hard to keep your appetite when you're watching a guy inhale his own food" she muttered bashfully. She knew it sounded rather bitchy, but she couldn't help but be honest in this situation. She was a good liar, but her filter was slowly but surely running out of patience.
Deadpool hummed, this girl obviously worked in an office of some kind. Her attire and minor amount of food gave that away, given it looked like a quickie meal someone ate on break. She was probably not used to positive human attention and small talk instead of conversations. "Well baby girl, you look like you need a good meal. That and a good nap" he argued. Hell, he had a very active lifestyle given his choice of career. But he at least knew when to take it easy and make sure to have carefree days. She looked like she hadn't known a stress-free life for a long time. She looked overworked, exhausted and timid. Her boss obviously loaded most of the work onto her which was taking a toll on her. He would love to help her relax if she was having trouble in her life. He was always willing to help a cute girl in need.
"Yeah, we'd help her relax real good. In our bed that is"
"She's so small and fragile, we'd probably break her".
"I doubt sexual intercourse is what this young lady needs at this moment".
Deadpool sighed, yes part of him wanted to sleep with this girl. He wanted to see what her cute face would look like flushed and excited, crying out his name over and over again. However, his moral compass said that wasn't a good idea at this very moment. So he was putting that on hold for the time being as to not push her away. All good things came to those who waited right? So as much as it killed him to not be able to touch her yet. When he eventually did get his hands on her, it would be a night to remember.
Eve shifted, this guy lacked a filter in every sense of the word. But he was indeed correct about her wellbeing. Because of her dual life as an office worker at the daily bugle and a superhero, her life was anything but easy. When she wasn't running after leads or new stories for her boss. She was trying to protect the wellbeing of the people in New York. The constant worry of being caught and revealed as who she really was. The hatred of society towards her caused her to worry about what people would do if her identity was ever discovered. She had no friends where she lived, to which she spent her days alone causing her to crave affection and attention from other people.
"Is this how you try to get a date with all the women in your life?" she scoffed. No wonder he was perpetually single if this was the way he spoke to women. There was such as being modest and thinking before you opened your mouth. This guy had the energy of a small kid on a sugar rush. His hypersexuality that of a teenage boy on steroids. It wasn't actually something she was used to in her daily life, he was worse than her boss. However, when confronting this guy she didn't have to worry about losing her employment while doing so.
Wade was impressed, she certainly had more sass than he expected her to. He wondered if she showed this kind of attitude to her boss, it was rather sexy. Wondering how long she could keep up this attitude before she got too embarrassed. "Just you" he teased. He was weak for the cute ones, he just couldn't help but tease the crap out of them. They were his weakness, making him melt like hot butter in a pan. He liked a woman with attitude, it showed she didn't take crap from anyone and he respected the hell out of that.
Eve didn't know how to respond to that, he was such a cocky bastard but it was rather seductive. Something about his unbreakable confidence and optimism was rather admirable, wishing she could be as a brave as him in that sense. She simply sat in silence enjoying her meal. She would rather be caught red handed doing anything else before she admitted that he was getting to her, even just slightly. Because of two reasons; the first being that she would never live it down, the second being he would never let her forget it.
Eve stretched wearily. Her body ached, she was physically and mentally exhausted, needing a week-long nap. She couldn't wait for this blessed time off work, away from her shitty boss and then stresses of employment. This week better go slow otherwise she would be really upset, she wanted to enjoy this break for all it was worth. She didn't even want to think about what she would return to when this was all over and done with. If her boss would berate her for having her head in the clouds for the past week or so.
As she did so, Wade watched her in silence taking her all in. Those long creamy legs, her soft and bouncy ass, those sweet slender curves, those perky and well-formed breasts, her small soft hands and that long brown wavy hair. She looked to be in her early to mid-twenties, but then with her baby face looks could be deceiving. He wanted to know more about her, kill time and get to know what kind of woman she was. Her secretive nature only made him more curious, eager to unveil every piece of her life for his eyes only.
"Well, thanks for lunch I guess. I've got to get going now" Eve replied politely. Honestly, she would breathe so much easier when she was away from this guy. He was so erratic she felt she had to stay on her toes with this one. She assumed in his own way he meant well, his career choice obviously having some negative effects on him. But long term exposure to him was not something she wanted to experience. It would only end with her acting out violence on him or a long term shouting match which would make them look like a couple having a domestic.
Wade pouted, she had to leave so soon? But he had only just met her again, he didn't even know her name yet. How long would it be before he met this blue-eyed brunette again? She was so elusive, but at least he could watch her from her apartment. He doubted coffee would come up in the future, she didn't even know that he stalked her. Trying to avoid him at all costs, given how uncomfortable she seemed around him. But he couldn't let this chance slip away. He then opened his utility belt, pulling out a red card with his symbol on it. "If you need help, or if anyone gives you shit. You know who to call" he replied with a smile and a creepy look.
Eve was taken aback, having not expected this. She hesitated, not wanting to seem rude before reaching out to take his card. She gripped it in her fingers tightly, staring at him awkwardly not knowing what to do with herself. Part of her was relieved, part of her was conflicted by this. It would certainly make crime fighting much easier for her, however, she had a strong aversion to violence. She already had a reputation amongst civilians, getting involved with him may make it worse. "I'll keep in touch" she replied awkwardly. She doubted she would, but if she needed a serious backup there was no doubt he would come running. He certainly didn't waste any time trying to get close to her.
Deadpool smiled, his demeanour immediately perking up. Though she hadn't bluntly said she would call him, she had implied that she would keep in contact with him. That was enough for him because she at least sounded interested in him too. He leaned forward towards her, making her blush and back off slightly. "I'll hold you to it baby girl" he teased. He then turned on his feet and walked/skipped away giggling to himself. Obviously very pleased to have made a move on her.
She sighed a breath of relief, glad that she was finally on her own again. This guy really didn't quit, it was an admirable but annoying trait to have. Hoping she never ran into this guy at random when she was out on patrol. She then turned on her heels and headed in the direction of her home. Walking as fast she could down the street, hoping the long walk home helped her forget about everything that had happened today.
Eve collapsed onto her bed with a heavy oof and gazed at her ceiling in silence. Today had been more intense than she had expected it to be, first her boss let her off and then she got a spontaneous brunch date with Deadpool. It had been an unusual yet somewhat pleasant experience. Nobody had ever bought her breakfast before, let alone been so adamant to spend time with her. If not for his personality, she would have been more flattered. Thank god she wouldn't have to set her alarm for a while, being able to lie in bed all morning and take things easy. She was so used to a hectic schedule that being able to have the time off was like a blessing to her.
She breathed in slowly, enjoying the comfort of the mattress beneath her and the silence of her house. The faint noise of the city behind her, so used to being on her feet and working long hours that she forgot about taking care of herself. She had a bottle of wine in her fridge that would be heavily enjoyed, a long soak in the tub was definitely in order. Just a lazy evening of being able to relax and do nothing, given her evenings usually consisted of feeling exhausted and preparing for another day at work. Not having to worry about the next headliner of the daily bugle, having to research for a new story to impress her boss. She could take care of herself for a while, eat better and get some much-needed rest. Sounded like heaven to her.
She thought about calling her aunt may and let her know, given she had been so worried about her lately. She would be relieved to know that she had finally taken a break from work for a while. She was a very caring old woman. Sometimes she worried that her aunt neglected herself by constantly involving herself in her life, she was getting old and yet she was always rushing to her aid. She wanted better for her Aunt and felt bad that she couldn't do more.
Eve closed her eyes and sighed, releasing the breath she had been holding in. All of her feelings accumulating into one heavy sound, easing her mind of all the thoughts she kept locked away. The softness of her bed was a welcoming feeling, how she had missed this comfort. It was going to be nice, switching off and not having to keep a work mentality on. Being able to just enjoy her own life, the one she had when she wasn't being a hero or an assistant in the daily bugle.
"Do you think this is a good idea?"
"Yeah, won't she be pissed if we get caught?"
"We're spying on a young lady without her consent. I believe anger is expected at this point".
"Shut up, we aren't doing anything wrong. We haven't broken into her house or anything, so technically we are observing her. We haven't committed a crime" Wade grumbled in annoyance. Like he was going to let such a hot woman slip through his fingers. He lay comfortably on his stomach, a pair of binoculars held close to his eyes. Focused on the direction of the apartment, as far as he could tell the lights were on so she was indeed home. However, he could see no movement from her whatsoever.
"Maybe she's asleep, she was awfully tired in the diner"
"Yeah, maybe she's taking a nap"
"If she is asleep, then we should take our leave, give the poor girl some privacy"
Deadpool huffed, there was no way in hell he was giving up now when he was so close. Hell, if not for the fear he would get caught or have his ass kicked, he would sneak in and peak on her sleeping face. I mean, they were business partners now. He wondered if she had any relations with Spiderwoman, given she had taken so many pictures of her in the past. They had a similar physique, however, what the web-slinger looked like in real life was a mystery. Given all she had accomplished and all the criminals, she had caught. She was obviously a very flexible individual, which he had no complaints about. It only meant should they have an encounter, he wouldn't have to go easy on her.
The idea of being able to have this Eve girl and Deadpool as his lovers made a tingle run through his body. Being able to claim them both as his own brought such excitement he could feel the grin and profuse laughter rising in his body. They would make such a great team together, being able to kick ass and hang out all night long. If anyone gave his beloved spidey any shit, he would make them pay for spreading her good name in the mud.
"You know, she may be avoiding us because she has a boyfriend"
"It would make sense why she was so timid around us, y'know aside from the guns"
"She may be too polite and intimidated by our infamous reputation in the criminal world"
Deadpool growled, he didn't even want to consider the fact that she may be involved with someone else. If she was in a relationship with someone she would have said something. Besides, if she did, what boyfriend would leave their girlfriend all alone? "Jesus would you guys shut up. I'm never gonna get laid with you guys hissing in my ear" he yelled. He finally met a girl after being a bachelor for what felt like forever, and now they were bringing up the possibility that she may have a lover already? He had met a cute little brunette with a shy demeanour and a rocking body. Like he was going to let this one slip through his fingers or let someone else steal her away.
"Hey, just being honest bro! We're like your conscience"
"Its just nerves, its been a while"
"Overthinking and obsessing has never done anyone's wellbeing any good when it comes to pursuing a relationship"
Wade severely considered shooting himself in the face so things would become quiet for a while. Though having many opinions or voices in your head made things less boring, it did become quite tiring after a while. Not having a moment of peace and quiet from yourself. All he wanted to do was follow a girl he was severely crushing on and hopefully learn more about her. But instead, he was debating on whether or not she was even interested in her or that she may already be taken. Love really was complicated, but he had plenty of it to give.
Eve hummed quietly, soft sighs escaping her lips as she sank deeper beneath the bubbles in the water. Her body immersed in warmth and comfort, not a care in the world and the echoing silence was a blessing. How she had missed the simple pleasures in life. Her legs stretched out with her toes peeking out the bottom of the tub, peaking out like a creature emerging from the sea for air. Heat filling her body, her eyes dimly lidded as she stared into oblivion. She had her music playing in the background while hooked up to her speakers, giving a peaceful ambience in the background to complete the moment. A glass of wine by the bath-side from which she took small sips every now and again.
It had been a long time since she had indulged in such activities, she spent so much time stressing and running about she never took the time to relax. She had no plans, no alarms to wake her up the next day, just endless hours to waste all week. A smile spread across her face, grinning like a small child in a sweet shop. She had no idea what she would do with her time off and that excited her, she had a whole week off to do as she wished. During that time she could visit her aunt may as it had been a while. Stay the night and maybe have dinner, that sounded wonderful. After getting her own place and having a full-time job, being able to see her aunt was not something she could always do.
After the break up she endured because of Marcus-James, her aunt had been very worried. Knowing how much Eve had loved him and how happy she had been in their relationship. She worried about Eve, hoping that she would eventually find happiness again. Given she was getting on in years and Eve was unmarried, she worried about her niece's happiness and any possible grandnieces or grandnephews. But she was taking care of herself, she did hope for romance but she doubted she would ever find it in her current workplace. She was a superhero and a full-time worker, not leaving much time for a romance. So as for the time being, she was living the single life.
However, she was not completely incapable of worries and stresses in her personal life. The anxiety of what would happen if she ever entered a relationship with someone and told them of her secret identity. How would they feel knowing their girlfriend was a crime-fighter? The depressing realization that she would forever have to keep her identity a secret. She would never be able to tell them about her life as a vigilante, in case they were ever endangered when one of her enemies tried to use them against her.
The stresses of having to balance both lives equally, which left her exhausted both emotionally, mentally and emotionally. Having to lie and make her boss happy while trying to keep the streets of her city safe from crime. The loneliness of a lack of relationships or an ability to connect with people fully. Having to live alone and distance herself from people, as to not endanger their lives because of her own actions. No wonder people worried about her so much, given how much she kept hidden from them. It was hard to not feel scared and stressed having to balance all these feelings and issues all at once. Overwhelming her and driving her mental health into a very distressing place. Only making her want to cut off from society so that she could recover from it all.
Being a woman and an adult on her own was no easy task. Sometimes she really wished she had more friends to share her problems with, but in her current life making friendships was less than easy for her. There was a nice older man in her office called Joseph Robertson who looked out for her. He acted like a father figure towards her and kept Jameson off her back. He was probably one of the few people at her work who didn't harass her or patronize her which was a breath of fresh air. Slowly, she began to sink beneath the bubbles in the bath, closing her eyes as she submerged herself. Closing off from reality and falling into silence, wanting to forget everything. Even if it was only for a short period, it would help her relax after what felt like an endless day.
Eve stretched and bounced on her heels, dancing a little as she walked out of the bathroom. The bath had done her good, helping her unwind and soothe her mind and aching muscles. The best way to start her time off after a relentless week. The glass of wine was sat by her bedside table, glistening in the light, condensation gently dripped down the side. The alcohol helped numb her mind, forget her work and shut off her overthinking. The issue with being so smart was that it was often her Achilles heel and got her into trouble.
She had since pulled on something more comfortable than her work clothes. Having yanked on a short-sleeved over-sized white blouse that reached her mid-thigh. Her skin tinted lightly red with the warmth of the bath and the alcohol in her system. Her long creamy legs flashing and her damp hair falling down her back. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt this good, being free of her own problems. Though Jameson could be a pain in the ass and often pressured her with more work than she felt able, she appreciated the time off he had given her.
Slowly, she opened the doors to her balcony and walked out silently into the night air. Breathing out and taking in the cool breeze, it was a mild night the kind she liked. Not too cold and not too warm, but just the right temperature. "Perfect" she mumbled under her breath, she doubted this moment could get any better than this. She had no idea that she was being watched by a very obsessed Wade. To which her appearance had just made his evening and only added fuel to the fire. Only causing him to become more dedicated to winning her over.
Wade's mouth dropped open, his breath ragged and shock now overwhelming him. he felt like it was his damn birthday, he was never a godly man but this felt like a blessing. The blood immediately rushing to his lower body, glad he brought a camera. He had heard movement, seeing shadows in her apartment, wondering if she was alone. Her balcony doors then opening slowly, to which she eventually appeared in what was the best thing he had seen her in so far.
Her skin was lightly tinted with the heat of a bath, her hair still damp but in a hella sexy way. The curves of her body and the shape of her breasts complimented by her attire. It was short enough to show enough leg but baggy and big enough to tease hints of the goods.
"Is it our birthday? This is the best surprise ever!"
"This has to be an invitation, let's go say hello to her"
"I must say her current attire is very alluring, however, I doubt she is seducing us intentionally. She does not seem to be aware of us observing her".
She was so attractive, younger than him indeed but not by many years. I mean he was in his mid-thirties and she appeared to be in her twenties? Whatever, she was legal and not jail-bait. Even if she was younger, he was willing to wait a while before she was old enough. Indeed she had a baby face, but in that case, it was generally that these said people were older than they looked.
"We should go and say hello, it would be like a second date"
"I mean we've already got breakfast together. Maybe we can ask her out for dinner too"
"I doubt appearing outside her apartment would be a wise choice of gesture. Unless we seek to scare her off and possibly look like a stalker"
"But she's so cute, how can I resist?" he groaned. She was so shy and awkward, girls like that were ideal. Their innocence and passive nature couldn't help but make you want to tease them. Hoping to get more of a reaction from them. He would happily chase after if it meant she would give him a chance. He was never the type of man to quit on something, yes it often got him into trouble but it always made things interesting at least. He relented, he would only go insane if he continued to sit here and watch her like this. He may as well go and crack up some small talk, it's not like they were strangers anymore. He wasn't going to hurt her, he just wanted to talk is all.
Eve leaned against the balcony quietly, her wine glass perched her beside her. She felt so content watching the people below, not one siren being raised since the time she had returned home. Though she was dedicated to her duty, it was a nice relief to have a break from crime. "Hey aunt May, sorry for the lack of contact. I've been pretty busy lately, work and all" she replied apologetically in a fond tone. It felt so good to be able to speak to her again, realizing how long it had been since they had seen each other.
"Evelyn, sweetie. You really should call more often, I worry about you. You've never been the same since you ended your relationship with Marcus James" her aunt babbled in protest. Being her only niece, she couldn't help but worry about her. Evelyn had been smitten with him since the day she laid eyes on him, they were such a happy couple. But after their breakup, she had never been the same. Such a heartbroken girl who avoided relationships altogether.
Eve stiffened, gripping the phone tightly and twisting the neck of her glass. She really wished her aunt would just drop the subject, she knew she worried. But she hated being reminded of the failure of her lack of relationships. "I know auntie, but I'm doing well at work. I'm making great headlines and working as hard as ever. But then its hard to find the romantic type in a place like the daily bugle" she joked. She could barely stand half of her coworkers to even consider dating them. They were either married, pervy, somewhat sexist, boring or way too old for her. There weren't exactly any suitable partners around her age that worked in her choice of career. Plus given her hectic work schedule, she never had time to attend any bars. So any hopes of finding a potential relationship were off the cards, not that she was desperate for one but even a casual hookup would be nice right about now. Waking up in some strangers bed and awkwardly slipping out the door, god how that sounded good right about now.
"You know if you wanted some help. I know a couple of lovely young men who could ask you out for dinner" Aunt may teased. There were plenty of kind and handsome men who could make Aunt may very happy indeed.
Eve felt a shiver run down her back and cringed at the idea of her aunt setting her up with someone. She knew she meant well, but her type of male compared to her aunt was very different indeed. "I..uh… I have to go, Aunt May, I haven't made dinner yet" she babbled and hung up the phone. She bowed her head wearily, more sounds of complaint escaping her lips wearily. She loved her aunt dearly, but her intrusiveness often made things very awkward. She knew that all her aunt wanted was for her to be happy, but a relationship was not ideal for her at this current time.
"Why so down honey? A frown doesn't suit you" a familiar voice called. Seems something was on her mind and he would happily help her fix it. He was always good at making ladies feel better.
Eve froze, a shiver of panic running down her spine like ice. Gripping the phone like a lifeline, really hoping this was part of her imagination. That the wine had gone to her head too quickly. He wasn't here, this was all in her head, she was just hearing things. She slowly looked up through her damp waves, her blue eyes meeting with a familiar red and black mask looking back at her. There sat on a railing beside her apartment was none other than Deadpool. How in the hell had he found her? She never even gave him her address.
What was he her newfound stalker? Was he that obsessed with her he wanted to follow her home? Was this how she was to spend her time off? Being stalked by a mercenary who never knew when to shut up? Wait, if he had been listening, how much had he heard? About her aunt, about her being single, about her workplace and lack of relationship? Oh shit, she was in some hot water now. "I…. um…. Just talking to a family member" she babbled. She needed to get rid of him now if he found out she was being harassed for her lack of a man in her life. This would only get her more trouble from him, which she was desperate to avoid.
Wade smiled playfully, noticing the nerves in her tone. Like she had been caught red handed doing something really naughty "What? Daddy giving you a hard time or something?" he cooed. Father's always tended to be so protective over their daughters, especially when they were as cute as she was. But that only made pursuing them all the more fun. Because then they were getting under daddy's skin, because he had to picture their precious little girl being defiled by a bad boy and they couldn't do anything about it.
Eve's gaze sharpened and her expression became cold. She never liked bringing up her parents, they were long gone. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, to which she only had one left in the world. So she didn't appreciate this stalker bringing up personal matters. "No, my aunt. She worries a lot given I live on my own, she just wants me to be happy is all" she replied bluntly. She was suddenly in no mood to talk but she sure as hell wanted to beat the living shit out of this guy. Just why was he so interested in her life?
Wade noticed her change in tone and defensive attitude, obviously, mummy and daddy were a sensitive topic. So either they had a strained or complicated relationship, or they had already kicked the bucket. Poor girl had a lot on her shoulders, maybe he could make her feel better? "Sorry sweetcheeks, you just seemed so down I tried to humour you a little" he replied playfully. He loved being able to make people smile or laugh, there was always something about any situation, if you thought long enough about it.
Eve groaned under her breath, she really was in no mood for this. Just when she had been starting to enjoy her evening. She felt like this guy was breathing over her shoulder. That from now on when she looked over her shoulder, he would be there watching her; like an animal in a zoo. Like she was here to entertain him or something creepy like that. "What do you want Wade? Don't you have people to kill or something? Isn't that your job, as a Merc?" she grumbled. Why couldn't he just leave her be?
Wade irked, she really was pissed off about something. Was it work? Was something wrong with her family? Had she been sleeping before he got here? He couldn't imagine what could be upsetting her so much that she was pushing him away. He was just trying to be friendly, crack up some conversation so that she could relax around him. was that so bad?
"We did make an inappropriate remark about her family. I doubt she appreciates the insensitive assumption about her personal life"
"She could be on her period, girls get moody when they are on theirs"
"Yeah, maybe she's not feeling well is all"
Wade leaned forward quietly, a playful smile on his face "I came to cheer you up, honey. You've obviously had a long day" he replied. He hated to see her pretty face so down when she would look so much better with a sweet smile on her face. He wasn't perfect, he knew that better than anyone and lived with it his whole life. But he was trying here, you couldn't say he wasn't putting in the effort here to try and impress her. He just wanted to prove that they could be really good, if not strange together.
Eve tilted herself onto one hip, locking her hips and folding her arms. She didn't know if she wanted to believe him or not, whether or not this was a ploy to try and sleep with her. Raising her eyebrow suspiciously, wondering what he was even up to. He was being excessively flirty with her, but then again he did that with a lot of people. The only reason he was here was most likely to jump into her bed, get his kicks and leave. "So you buy me lunch and suddenly we're dating to you?" she scoffed. This guy really assumed a lot, didn't he? She appreciated the fact he worried about her earlier, but that didn't suddenly mean they were an item. She had a lot of other stuff on her mind right now.
"Your relative's words really got to you huh?" Wade replied. Sounded like she was venting her feelings onto him. But that was cool, if it made her feel better he would listen to her for hours. Besides, she looked so cute when she was mad. He could watch her talk for hours, listening to that sweet voice about anything she wanted. Watching her blue eyes fill with an unseen passion, going from soft and gentle to sharp and icy in a split second. Now that was something was was up for.
Eve blushed, so he had been listening in on her. Jesus, could she get no privacy around this guy? What did he keep tabs on her all the time? Did he know where she worked now? God, she hoped not. She would lose her job (as crap as it was) and she needed the income support. "None of your business" she muttered. She suddenly felt very naked, like he could see right through her. This conversation suddenly felt very uncomfortable and she wanted nothing more than to hide.
Wade got to his feet, causing her to step back and relax a little. Was he leaving? Had the message finally got through to him that she wanted to enjoy her own company? However, she was very much mistaken when he dived towards her balcony instead. Before she could protest, he jumped onto her balcony standing beside her. Great, now her escape plan was ruined and she couldn't get rid of this guy. Did the universe just love testing her? Why did she always seem to run into some sort of trouble? But she was no pushover if need be she was more than ready to kick this guys ass.
Wade stood before her, the two staring each other down like two cats in an alley. Like two lions fighting over a scrap of meat, a strong tension rising in the air like smoke. Even when cornered, she was still so beautiful, only know she carried a fierce sense of strength, one he admired. He then sighed, his face looking awkward and apologetic. Rubbing the back of his head, knowing he had pissed her off. "Listen cutie, I obviously pissed you off and I came off real clingy. I'm sorry, just…. I haven't had a date in a long time y'know" he apologized.
"Long time, you mean forever don't ya?"
"When was the last time we saw a girl without clothes on? Aside from a magazine"
"It has been an excessively long time since we were intimate with another person, regardless of gender"
How could he not get excited when an opportunity arose for him to be able to finally get a date after all this time. He jumped at the chance while the iron was still hot, otherwise, it would slip through his fingers. He was more than used to people rejecting him on a daily basis, be it for friendship or a romantic pursuit, he wasn't liked by a lot of people. But then he knew how to hide his feelings of hurt like a pro, he had developed a unique ability to act and hide his pain. I mean nobody had noticed after all this time.
Eve softened, she could hear sincerity in her voice to which she relaxed a little. However, following her to her apartment and suddenly assuming about her had been off putting. She remembered her encounters with him as spiderwoman too. He was like her biggest fanboy, but more obsessive.
The guy was either hated by every other criminal in the underworld, or he was friends or hated by every other superhero she could think of. Either because their opinions or morals clashed, or because he was a royal pain in their ass. She couldn't believe what she was about to do, but her empathy and moral compass wouldn't stop gnawing away at her. God, she was such a softie. "Listen, I'll consider another date. But for the love of god stop following me around like a lost puppy ok?" she snapped. If it got him off her back, she would take whatever chance she could get.
Wade perked up, did she really just accept to go on another date with him? She was giving him another chance? Holy shit, was this his birthday? Christmas? Hannukah? He didn't care, all he knew was that she was definitely saying she wanted to see him again. He grabbed her hand taking her a-back, gripping onto it like a lifeline and not once averting his gaze from her. "You won't be sorry sugar-buns, I'll make it the best date you have ever asked for" he babbled eagerly. God, he felt like a kid on Christmas, that or high on sugar. He then skipped for the edge of the balcony eagerly, giggling and humming to himself under his breath. He then jumped off the balcony eagerly, she didn't hear a crash so she assumed he landed ok. Just as long as he left her alone.
Eve waited until she heard the noises and footsteps lessen, making sure he was really gone and not playing tricks on her. Hoping that he wouldn't jump out on her from nowhere. Once he was gone, Eve trudged back into the house quietly. Her body feeling heavier than before, suddenly more worn out than when she got home from work. Closing the door of her balcony behind her, she groaned wearily. She now had a new desire to drink more wine and forget about her encounter completely.
