Pick-Me-Up

Hermione wanted to race upstairs to their bedroom, but she didn't. It was the night after the full moon, and she was in the kitchen making some hot chocolate for Remus, and unfortunately, that took time.

She would rather be upstairs cuddling next to him, soothing the lines on his face, but he needed the things that made him feel better, and that was more than just Hermione's presence.

Hermione sat the mug of hot chocolate aside and then made a sandwich for him. He might not want to eat, but she would force him if she had to.

When everything was done, Hermione took the sandwich and drink upstairs. When she walked into the bedroom, Remus was laying flat on his back under the covers. His eyes were closed, but he was fidgeting, so she knew he was awake.

"Hey, I got you something to eat."

Remus blearily opened his eyes and gazed at her. "I'll take the hot chocolate, but I don't want the ich."

"You don't get the choice."

"Hermione, I don't think I can stomach anything," he moaned

Hermione's tone softened. "I know, but you lost a lot of calories last night, and you need the food. Try to eat at least half of it," she compromised, giving him the sandwich.

He looked at it with a dissatisfied expression on his face. He wrinkled his nose as if he smelled something foul. "If I must." He took a forced bite and chewed slowly, his expression making Hermione aware of how unhappy he was.

She sat on the bed and quietly watched him eat.

"Is my eating that fascinating to you?" he asked wryly.

"Everything you do is fascinating to me," she replied.

When Remus put the sandwich aside after three more bites, she didn't say anything. At least he ate something. She gave him the hot chocolate as a reward which he devoured quickly. "It's amazing how you can stomach that," she mused.

"I'm a complicated fellow," he explained.

"Must be," she agreed.

When he was done, they both laid down side-by-side. Hermione's head was nestled on his chest, and his arm was around her body, holding her close. "This is the best pick-me-up," Remus declared.

When Hermione tilted her face up to look at him in confusion, he pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

"You being at my side," he answered her unasked question.

She blushed and continued cuddling against him. If this is what Remus wanted, she'd be happy to do it all day.
