Chapter 16

On with the chapter.

Running was something I was all too familiar with being a companion to the doctor. Therefore, it was not long before I was out the door after Harry and his two friends. The Doctor soon eclipsing me as well. He had more practice than I did after all. At least that was how I justified his continual outrunning of me.

Though the halls we ran. I kept them just in sight otherwise I was sure that I would have gotten lost. I bounded down the great staircase and caught sight of the end of the doctor's coat going out the front door. I also heard more than saw the spell fire. Though the closer I got to the bottom the more that changed as I could see flashes of light through what remained of the windows. The walls were still standing but parts looked like it could easily break off.

Nonetheless the doors were still in tact and I peered around them. I could not defend myself after all. I watched as Bellatrix and the golden trio battled. It looked pretty even to me. The doctor was standing just out of range of her notice, fiddling with his screwdriver. Bringing a sonic screwdriver to a wand fight? That would clearly not work well.

Bellatrix then clearly got tired of playing around and shouted bombarda at the trio. They seemed to know what was coming and jumped out of the way as the ground in front of them blew up. Bellatrix cackled madly and seemed to catch movement out the corner of her eye. I watched in sort of slow motion as Bellatrix whipped around, another bombarda upon her lips, the doctor leaped out of the way. I thought to do the same.

Kaboom! I coughed and winced. That hurt. I patted myself down and found that I was alright, if dusty. I brushed myself up as I stood and realized that a huge chunk of the wall had come down. I peered around the door once again, and saw the trio standing around as if in shock and the doctor came up behind them. They whipped around and the doctor held his hands up so as to satisfy them that he was not a threat. I came up to them slowly so as to show that I was not a threat and looked around. Where was Bellatrix?

I realized that I had asked that aloud as Ron pointed to the piece of Hogwarts that had fallen down. I could see a crushed wand and an arm hanging out from under it. My eyes widened. She must not have realized that her spell could bring part of the castle down on her. It did fly quite a ways but her spell was pretty powerful and the spells holding up Hogwarts weakened in sections. I was shocked as the tri was but realized it was all over now. We could go home.

"Is it really over Doctor?" I turned to him as he walked up to me.

"Yes Clara it is." He said as he brushed himself off.

"We can go home then? Not that I haven't enjoyed seeing Hogwarts and everything but..."

"Yes we can go home." He said standing there. He seemed to shake himself out of his own head and continued. "We should get going." He turned back towards where the Tardis was.

"But Doctor." I said running after him. "What about your other self?"

"What about him?" He said Scottish drawl going full force, Turning to look at me briefly.

"We are just going to leave him there?" I was surprised. After all that was the whole reason we came.

"He's not there." The Doctor said as we reached the Tardis and he began to look for his key.

"What? Where is he then?" I was shocked.

"Missy left didn't she? When she used her device to zap him to her she connected him to it. She used it to send herself back where she belonged so when she hit the return button, it returned him as well. A ha." He had found the key at that point and hurried me inside.

"Okay well aren't we going to say good bye at least then?"

"Why would we do that?"

I just looked at him in astonishment.

He saw my look and continued with a sigh. "I don't do good byes Clara. Besides," He started up the Tardis. "They will likely forget about us anyway. Time and rifts healing themselves and all that."

I deflated and sat as we went back through the rift in which we came through. I knew I would never forget the time we went to Hogwarts even if the other parties did.
