Sunlight reflected off of paper white skin and chrome metal. Black markings danced across the exposed flesh as if to the beat of war drums. A humanoid figure spread his arms out as he walked on the flat concrete, basking in the Sun of the planet he had taken so long to reach.
A wretched smile drew a line across his face. Not even bothering to look, he pointed a long finger towards a building. With a flash of light, a violent beam of flaming orange energy crashed through the structural supports, collapsing the building, killing all inside.
He had never figured out why, but the screams of those he had conquered had always brought him great pleasure. Almost even more pleasure than his own power brought him. But no, his power brought him conquest, made him feared.
"Stop, you murderer!" A commanding voice that held much desperation came from the sky above. A woman of incredible power dropped onto the street in front of him, stopping his advancement.
His eyebrow raised in curiosity under his helmet, "Oh, and just who might you be?" He asked, his silky voice not surprising the warrior he stood across from.
"I am Diana of Themyscira, Warrior, and protector of these people," She dropped into a classic fighting stance, "Now who are you, and why do you come here?" Her tone was not questioning. It demanded answers.
The armored being was smiling under that helmet, Diana could tell. "Me? Have you not heard of me? My, my, humans truly are a ridiculously idiotic species." He moved his hands to the side of his tight fitting helmet, "It seems I must introduce myself, as my reputation does not precede me." He removed his helmet, and for the first time, Diana noticed the black markings that seemed to move on his skin.
A confident smirk was on his angular, elfish face. His eyes shone with pride at his own power. Anyone could see that. However, the means in which he acquired his power, that was one thing Diana did not want to hear. His smooth voice boomed across the entire city with his introduction.
"I am Falbium, Warrior, Destroyer, Pupil to Lord Champa, and heir to the mantle of God of Destruction!"
The World of Void
3 Minutes before Tournament of Power
"Father." Gohan's voice shook. It had never contained so much emotion in it. He hugged the man back, holding on as tight as he could.
Goku pushed him away after a long embrace, keeping his hands on his shoulders as he studied his son for the first time in 16 years. The young man had a drastically different build than when he was a boy. However, even though he was all grown up, he still seemed younger than his late 20's. Goku curiously did another once over of his face. Yes, he was definitely younger than that. His brow furrowed in confusion. "Gohan, how…" He paused, "How old are you?"
Gohan did a small recoil, "Ummmm, 17. Why?" Goku's eyes widened considerably. Gohan noticed, and grew slightly panicked, "Dad, why is that a big deal?" When he didn't receive an answer, he turned to the ever silent, but emotionally charged Piccolo standing a bit aways. "Piccolo, how long has it been?" He asked, breaking away from Goku's grip, and walking towards his mentor.
The Namekian grimaced. It had been 16 years, but he didn't know if he could bring himself to tell Gohan it had been that long. "Gohan…" His voice froze up, which never happened to him. He just simply couldn't get it out.
However, he didn't have to.
"16 years," Vegeta's gruff voice cut through Gohan's pleading silence, "It's been 16 years since the Cell Games."
Gohan's knees almost gave out from under him. Yes, he had expected this much, but having it laid out in front of you was something completely different. "16 years…" He stared blankly at the child fusion next to Vegeta, who had caught on that something big was going on. "Dad, how old is my brother?" He said, not taking his gaze off of the fusion.
Goku was taken aback. He didn't expect Gohan to figure it out so quickly. "He's 15, Gohan." Goku once again closed the distance between him and his son, "Your mother was pregnant with him before Cell."
Tears welled in Gohan's eyes. He couldn't believe it. He had missed so much. His brother, he was supposed to be a staple in his life. A rock that never wavered. But instead, he was gone to another Universe. All because of a stupid decision that he made when he was 11.
Gohan advanced towards the fusion. He walked past his master, who grabbed his shoulder, only this time, Gohan didn't lash out violently to being stopped. "You know he doesn't know who you are, right? He is a fusion, he has the memories of stories we all told the boys of you, but he has no emotional connection to you."
Gohan lightly moved the hardened hand off of him, "I know." He kept on his walk. Piccolo didn't try to warn him again, nor did Vegeta, who he nodded to, nor did Tien, or Krillin, or Tien, even old man Roshi said nothing as he walked by them.
He stopped in front of the short teen fusion, looking down on him from his impressive height, to their average. His stare was soft, nothing like the one he was given back by the fusion. He wanted to say something so badly. But he couldn't. He felt like he failed these two, both his brother, and little Trunks.
"I'm… I'm sorry, for not being there." He finally got out. The fusion's glare hardened.
"You failed. You failed all of us." The fusion's double voice scolded Gohan. "You had so much power, and you still lost to that bug." The fusion powered up as high as he could in his base form, matching what he thought was Gohan's max in his base to intimidate him, "You left us," His voice became progressively more emotional, "You left Mom, Dad, you left Piccolo, Krillin, Bulma," A single tear was wiped away, as one of the voices seemed to break through more than the other, "You left me."
The other Z-Fighters were shocked by the boy's words. "Trunten! You know what Gohan did that day! He was- is, a hero!" Goku shouted.
Trunten turned to his father, "If he was this great, why couldn't he kill Cell? Why was it such a problem then? If he had just done that, he could have saved mom!"
Gohan's world shattered. He whipped around to his father. "What happened to mom!" He demanded, gone was the soft look.
"She…" Goku was hurting, this was a very uncomfortable topic. As soon as Trunten had mentioned Chi-Chi, all of the others, besides Frieza of course, had become very solemn. Even Vegeta bowed his head. "She died during childbirth." Goku's voice cracked. Something Gohan had never heard. "After you were gone, she wouldn't eat. She fell into such a depression, that a growing Saiyan in her belly took everything it had out of her. She was too malnourished to give birth."
That's what finally did it, "I killed my mother." Gohan dropped to his knees. "I killed my mother." He wrapped his head in his hands. He hadn't thought his disappearance would have had so much of an effect on his family. He knew it would hurt them, he had thought about that every night since that day, but for it to go as far as to take on of their lives. No, he never imagined.
Tears streamed down his face like never before. His power fluctuated wildly, blowing every record he had ever made out of the water.
"NO!" He slammed his fist into the ground, breaking it pre tournament. A white aura swirled around his fist. Red lightning crackled through it as his power fluctuated wildly.
Superman quickly rushed over from his place among his team when he saw Gohan lose his grip, "Hey buddy," He said calmly said, walking once he reached the Z-Fighters, as to not set off Gohan with any quick motion. He knew what being in this kind of state was like, and if the smallest thing could set off this absolute powerhouse of a fighter, he wasn't taking any chances. "We all need you to calm down. I understand why you're upset, I've been there myself quite a few times, but the tournament starts in a minute, and we need you, you're our best. Take this, what you're feeling, and use it to fight so you can fix it." His voice was unreasonably understanding to Gohan.
Gohan looked up at him, his eyes full of tears, with a black mist slowly making its way from the outside to the center. "You couldn't possibly understand what I'm feeling right now." He spat at the man, ignoring the concern from the others at his energy and eye change. "You don't even know what it was, so how could you." His neck slowly bent back to looking at the floor, light sobs shaking his body.
"Gohan, I heard everything, I have super hearing, remember?" He stepped closer to the teen, and knelt down in front of him, "I lost a parent too, when I was around your age." This stopped Gohan's crying. His eyes completely lost the creeping black mist, and his power dropped a considerable amount. "My father." Superman put a comforting hand on Gohan's shoulder, "We were going into town to the market, my mother, father, and I. We had the dog with us too. Dad and I got into an argument about my powers right before a tornado hit us. He was killed saving our dog for my mother." Superman looked up at the sky, his normally stoic and strong voice breaking slightly.
"I could have saved him. Easily. But when I tried, he told me to stop. He didn't want me to show myself to the world yet. I should have ignored him." Superman's focus drifted back to the Saiyan, and he lightly squeezed his shoulder for reassurance. "I have to live with that. But right now, you have a chance to fix what happened." The Man of Steel stood to his feet, offering his hand to Gohan, "Now let's go win this, for everyone!"
Gohan smiled, and wiped away the tears from his eyes. He took Superman's hand and stood to his feet. "Let's do this!"
