Chapter 16

"So you're telling me that Masaru, was Miroku and Sango's son?" InuYasha asked, Kagome for the millionth time. He was carrying her on his back, as they made their way out of the strange place Masaru had Kagome tied up.

"Yeah, I found it hard to believe too. Even after he told me the story as to why he turned, I found it unbelievable." Kagome was resting her head on his shoulder then start to tell the story Masaru told her.

"Masaru, it's time for supper."

"Coming mom."

Masaru and his sister's were playing outside the hut when a huge demon attached. Both Sango and Miroku fought hard, but in the end both were seriously wounded. Some fellow villagers brought them to old Keade, but the damages were to great. The children watched as their parents slowly drifted away. Sango died first due to blood loss. However Miroku stayed living, but his wounds became infected and soon was gone. Masaru had heard stories of InuYasha as he was growing up. And as his father was slowly dying he would say. "If only InuYasha was here. We would've won the fight." It was with these words that sparked Masaru's hatred for InuYasha.

The day after both his parents were buried, Masaru visited their graves alone. "Mother, father, I will avenge your death. I will learn all I can about InuYasha and where he is. He will pay for your deaths. He's the one who left this village and I will find him, no matter where he is."

That night Masaru left the village never to be seen again. His sisters woke to find food and other things missing. No one knew the anger he held inside and at such a young age. Masaru was only seven, but held the anger of seventeen year old. Even though the village searched they never found him.

As Masaru traveled he learned much about the hanyou named InuYasha. Not many knew of Kagome, but his parents told him a few stories. Soon he put the pieces together. " So Kagome was a miko, who held great powers. A jewel for that matter. Maybe I can do the same as the ancient miko did and make another jewel?"

Now that Masaru knew of the hanyou's past and Kagome. All he needed to do is learn about demon slaying and how to be a great monk like his father. No, he needed to be better then his father. It would take time but he would do it. And like the demon Naraku he heard about, he too would sell his soul to a demon if it meant getting what he wanted.

It wasn't long till Masaru found a monk to start teaching him. Miroku was well known and the monk was honored to help Miroku's son. They traveled the country side fighting demons and learning much about slaying demons of all kinds. Masaru was a natural and was well on his way to becoming the powerful demon killer. Soon Masaru was good enough to travel on his own. He was now a young teen and earning himself a name as a powerful monk.

Masaru also started studying the past, mostly the Shikon Jewel. It was very interesting how Midoriko managed to pull the jewel from her chest. Masaru wonder if he to could somehow make a jewel that was just as powerful. So he started researching all he could on any kind of dark magic he could find. After a short while he came up with a plan. He would steal the spiritual powers from all the miko's he could find. And if all went well, he'd also take the power from the miko named Kagome.

It was a cold rainy day and Masaru had just finished gathering a few things to make a special glass vase. He would gather the spiritual powers from the miko's in it until it was time. Once he gathered the spiritual powers from every miko in the world, he'd merge the power into a jewel. The miko jewel he called it. He could feel something watching him as he worked. Still he continued working and soon was ready to see if he could gather spiritual powers.

Masaru was about to leave when a voice came to him. "So young and inexperienced. Surely you know you'll never win this on your own young monk."

Masaru turned to find nothing. "Who's there? Show yourself before I kill you!"

Dust began to stir, and soon a figure appeared before him. "I think not, young monk. You need me to get your revenge."

Masaru was growing angry. How did this being know his plans? "Speak, and tell me how you know my plans? I have told no one."

"I am a dust demon, but not just any dust. Dust from the dead bodies of demons killed over many years. I heard you vow to kill the half demon InuYasha. He has killed many demons while in this land. We can team up and become very powerful."

Masaru chuckled. "How is dust powerful?" He asked.

"Like I said you are very inexperienced. Do know how deadly dust can be? It can fill a person's lungs and suffocate them."

Masaru started thinking about what the dust demon was saying. A smile came to him as he thought. "Yes you're right, but I'm still not interested." He turned and finished gathering his things.

"It's ashame really. You'll never live to see InuYasha."

"What did you say demon?"

"You'll never live to see the half breed, he is not in this time period anymore. He went through a well to be with the young miko."

Masaru cursed his stupidity. "Damn, that's why father never told us the whole story. So the half breed didn't go to another village to live. He left this time period." Masaru hated to admit it but the dust demon was right. "And just how is it that you can help me? You're not strong, just dust."

"It's simple, dust will never truly disappear."

"So he sold his soul to the dust demon?" InuYasha replied, as he set her down.

"Yeah, not completely like Naraku, but close. InuYasha, I don't think Masaru is truly gone. After all how do you destroy dust." Kagome asked.
