I watched the credits roll on Valley Girl, a kitten curled against my chest sleeping soundly and Bella's head in my lap, her soft, rhythmic, breathing let me know that she too, was asleep. I grabbed the remote and hit the power button, silencing the tv, and laid my head against the back of the couch. The entire situation felt so domestic, cozy, and oddly enough, didn't send me running for the hills like past relationships had.

Very gently, I dislodged the cat from his sleeping spot and laid him on the couch cushion next to me before carefully extracting myself from Bella's massive tangle of hair. Looking down at her, her full, pink lips, parted slightly in sleep, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.

Carrying the kitten in my arm, I made my way to the guest bedroom, pulling down the blankets and settling Fitzwilliam into a pillow, before heading back to the livingroom to get Bella. I figured she'd wake up when I accidentally smacked her foot into the wall, but all she did was snuggle closer to my chest.

I laid her carefully into the bed and laughed when the cat curled into her neck, his head resting under her chin.

"You're a good boy, Fitzwilliam."

I left the two in the quiet darkness, and made my way down the hall to my own room.
