Alright, everyone, this outtake has a secret hidden within its information. If you can find it, it will unlock one of the biggest secrets I am keeping from you all. I won't be pointing out where it is, and you won't be getting any other hint besides the fact this is telling you it's in here somewhere. Good luck to all who try to find it.

This outtake is for the people who already found other hidden info in previous chapters.

Outtake: Charlie learns about the traitor

Charlie's POV

I shook Carlisle's hand about to thank him for his and his family's care for Bella and the girls, I really appreciated it. Before I could thank him though, I saw Bella take off. What had happened now?

I nodded to Carlisle and hurried to catch Bella. I took hold of her elbow. "You're riding with me, we need to talk."

I needed to talk with her and it couldn't wait until the girls had gone to bed. Whatever had upset her was only going to continue building stress if she didn't talk about it. Stress wasn't good for her transition.

Back in Phoenix Bella had been able to keep her transition low, far lower than any other transitional creature I had ever heard about. I knew as soon as she moved up here, that her percentage was going to climb quickly. Life here in Forks would never be as simple as it was in Phoenix, I couldn't provide all the support she had down there, or all the provisions made to help keep her percentage low.

I could help though, as long as she was willing to talk with me.

Bella glanced towards her car. "But Anna?"

I let my gaze move from Bella to Anna for a moment. Anna was letting Rosalie buckle her into her car seat. She seemed to be alright, she'd be fine for just a car ride without Bella.

"Anna's doing really well with Rosalie, she'll be fine. Besides, she needs to be able to be around other people, for your sake. You need to be able to have time away from the girls."

She didn't want to hear it and I knew it, but what I was saying was true. Anna wasn't the only one scarred by the attack on the family. I hated doing it but she left me no other choice. I tightened my hold on her shoulders and shook her until she met my eyes.

"Anna may have been scared to be away from you, but you're also scared to be away from her. You both need time away from each other."

Bella sighed, her shoulders slumped in defeat. "I can't lose anyone else."

Even through the pain I could see that Bella hadn't meant to say that aloud.

We definitely needed to talk, and it couldn't wait.

I nodded for Bella to get in the car before getting behind the wheel.

Before driving away from the Cullens' house I flicked a switch on my door, setting off the soundproofing for my car. I knew Bella wouldn't want to be overheard, and right now I would respect her wishes.

After driving down their driveway though I realized that I would have to start the conversation.

I had hoped she would realize that we needed to talk about what was bothering her, or at least talk about the Cullens, but she refused. She sat back in her seat, her gaze firmly staring in front of her, and silent.

I sighed. "We can't keep this up Bella. We can't continue to balance on the point of a knife. Eventually we're going to fall off one side or another. They won't stop looking for answers."

"You didn't tell them anything while I was out, did you?" She snapped at me.

Finally, some sort of reaction.

I shook my head. "They asked but I told them it wasn't my place to answer their questions. I told them this was your problem, and you had to do what you thought was right."

It was hard for me to handle this the way Bella wanted to. Since the split I hadn't gotten to spend much time with Bella. I knew she was far more mature than even someone our kind normally was, but at the same time, she was kept from many things kids her age normally did in the other world. Grandfather Higginbotham's idea to help protect her.

Bella now had more responsibilities than she should now, and she wasn't good with asking for help. It's in her nature to be in control.

I didn't know exactly what had happened. I just knew what I had been given by the members of the Rebellion who had gone to help take care of the fire.

I had wanted to give Bella time so I could hear exactly what had happened from her, but she still hasn't. I tried to wait for her but I had to know. So I called someone I never thought I'd call ever again. Grandma Letta sadly hadn't known much. She had told me about the joint fight between the Hunters and the Undermining but that was all.

There had to be more. Whatever had happened that night, the piece I was missing, it was what had changed Bella's mind. Whatever it was, it caused her determination to do everything herself.

"They all are worried about you, and they want to help," I found myself saying. I sighed. "I told them I didn't know why you wouldn't tell them, and to be honest, I don't know why?"

I glanced her way hating what I saw. She turned to look out the side window. Her arms tightened around her middle and she shook ever so slightly. She looked like she'd fall apart at any minute.

I couldn't stand to see her like this. "Isabella Marie, please, tell me what happened that night." I had to know. "What happened to the hopeful girl who believed we could handle this danger together?"

I watched as her walls fell. It hurt but I knew this was what she needed. It would help to talk about it.

"We don't…" she paused before continuing. "I don't know who, but someone Toby trusted gave away our location to the Undermining.

The shock didn't last long before the anger rose in me. I fought to control it, but it was difficult. Toby was very selective with the people he trusted, how could one of them betray him.

"The Undermining attacked us, but they gave the Hunters an opportunity they couldn't ignore."

"Getting rid of a powerful Transitional, while taking out their competition at the same time." I grimaced. That was a classic strategy that most professional Hunters used. It was one that my dad had used many times. He was always fighting against the Undermining. It was probably one of his only redeeming qualities, he didn't agree with the Undermining.

"We were outnumbered, even with all our powers. I couldn't get my shields up fast enough. I could have protected everyone but I couldn't."

A sharp prick stung at my heart. That's why she now wanted to face this on her own. I glanced over and what I saw hurt my heart worse.

Bella was trying so hard to not let the tears burning in her eyes fall.

I pulled the car over onto the side of the road, barely giving a thought to Rosalie as she pulled Bella's car behind mine.

Renee was always better at dealing with emotions, with tears.

"You blame yourself."

Renee definitely would have known how to help Bella through this. If only they had known.

Bella's anger didn't surprise me, she was a Swan after all. She had my dad's temper. "The Hunters want me dead, and the Undermining want my powers. My family gave their lives to protect me, and I couldn't protect them, even though I had the power to do so. It's quite clear who is at fault here."

I couldn't stand to have her believe she was at fault for the attack. She didn't give me a chance though to help her.

"The more people who know makes it harder for me to protect the people I care about. When I said I couldn't lose anyone else, I meant it."

She was falling apart, and it was tearing me apart. "Oh Bella."

She stopped me again. "I gave you my answer Dad. Can we please go home now?"

Give her time. My mom's advice came to me easily. She had been talking about Renee at the time, but I knew it fit right now too.

I sighed and started the car again. I couldn't bring myself to fight with Bella. She wouldn't find any comfort in my words at the moment, so I remained silent the rest of the way home.

When we got back to the house I watched as Bella headed inside. I helped Rosalie get the little girls out of Bella's car. Anna caught hold of my hand and Rosalie handed Cissy to me.

I glanced from Anna to Cissy down in her carrier. It would be just the three of us for the rest of the day. Bella needed to rest, and frankly, I didn't want her taking care of the girls at the moment. In her condition she'd be liable to break down. If she was going to have a break down she'd feel terrible if it happened in front of the girls.

I lifted Anna and settled her on my hip before turning to Rosalie. "Thank you for driving Bella's car over."

She nodded. "Do you need any help with the girls?"

It was kind of her to offer but I would be fine. "Thank you, but I'll be fine. I think we're going to have an easy night. Some pizza and maybe a princess movie.

Anna bounced excitedly at that and Rosalie and I laughed.

She waved to Anna before saying her goodbyes. "Have a good evening Chief Swan."

"Charlie," I corrected.

She nodded and headed for the trees. No one was around to notice her leave.

"Pocahontas?" Anna asked sweetly.

I nodded. "And cheese pizza." And another phone call to Grandma Letta.

Did any of you catch the secret information in here? It is hidden very well.

I'm not going to ask any more questions, just because I don't want to accidentally give away the secret.

Nonquestion though, we will be meeting Grandma Letta in Transitionals: Eclipse. She's a very interesting lady.

Until next time look out for newborn vampires,
