So this outtake is an interesting one for me. This is a scene that didn't make it into the original story but after some questions, I decided to just use an outtake to clear it all up.

The chapter is going to be the first time Esme goes grocery shopping with Bella, this happens while the Denalis are in Forks to help Bella.

This chapter is dedicated to my old writing teacher who helped encourage me to write stories.

Esme's POV

Bella has been working so hard trying to project her mental shield. I knew she wasn't thrilled with Kate's strategy, that's why I was breaking up practice early.

"Bella, would you like to go with me to the…"

"Yes," she said before I could even finish.

Anna ran up to me. "Can Cissy and I go too?" Her eyes widened and her lower lip pouted out pitifully.

The very fact she was asking to go instead of demanding melted my heart.

Carmen was very good at distracting Anna, but the little girl still refused to be anywhere without her Auntie Bella and her sister.

I lifted Anna up and settled her on my hip. "Of course you may come with us Anna."

Anna hugged me tightly and I carried her to the door.

"Do you mind if I join you?" Carmen asked. She was gently bouncing Cissy in her arms, trying to get her to sleep.

I smiled at my dear friend. "We'd love the company."

I grabbed Cissy carrier and Carmen got her buckled up. Bella met us at the door. She grabbed her coat and put it one while I helped Anna into hers.

"Thank you," Bella whispered.

I nodded in acknowledgment but didn't reply as to not draw attention to her.

"Is there room for the five of us in your car?" Carmen glanced at the small five seater car before turning to Bella.

Bella and Anna both grinned.

"There will be." Bella went to the driver's side door and fiddled with the door handle.

Carmen and I shared a confused shrug.

Anna hugged me tightly. "Only people from the other world can see the buttons Auntie is pushing."

Bella finished then with whatever she was doing. "Now the backseat will be more than spacious for Anna, Cissy and I."

I watched curiously as Bella climbed over Anna's seat and sat down in the middle seat. Despite it being a small seat she clearly had plenty of room.

I helped Anna into her seat and Bella buckled her in. Carmen already had Cissy in the car and sitting in the passenger seat.

I sat behind the wheel and eagerly started the car. I loved driving Bella's car.

Carmen shifted in her seat so she could look back and talk with Bella. "I'm curious, I can tell on the car that there isn't anything in the spot that Anna says there are buttons, does the magic of your world always cover up the items that we can't see but your people can?"

"It depends on the situation." Bella leaned forward slightly. "With the car, everything in here looks like it should. Any addition that Tob… that was added is covered by the magic so it can't be seen by anyone besides our kind."

My heart broke a little more for Bella. I didn't dare look at Carmen, knowing that she had heard what I had. Bella still struggled with talking about Anna's dad. I fought back a grimace when I heard her take in a shuttering breath and try to continue as upbeat as she could.

"There are cases where the other world magic alters a person's thoughts based on what they are seeing."

What. The very idea of altering someone's thoughts was too bizarre for me to comprehend.

Bella laughed softly. "It's not as bad as your thinking, I'm sure. You'll see what I mean when we get to the store."

I parked in the lot then. After shutting off the car I turned to face her. "Alright, let's see it then."

Bella laughed louder than. "Come on."

Carmen and I helped get Anna and Cissy out and Bella climbed out of the car.

"First thing we need a cart and Cissy's carrier." Bella went around the car and grabbed Cissy carrier, even though Carmen had grabbed Cissy out of her seat.

"I don't mind carrying her," Carmen told her.

Bella smiled then gestured to the cart someone had left in the parking space right next to us.

She placed Cissy's empty seat on the top section of the cart. "You two won't be able to see it, but," she paused, her eyes falling shut. She took a deep breath and when she opened her eyes we saw her determination. "Toby built this carrier for Anna when she was born and then fixed it up so that he could use it for Cissy too."

She fiddled with the carrier trying to secure it to the cart. "Alright, once I flick this switch, Cissy carrier will fuse to the front of the cart, and the two of you won't consciously see any problems with the carrier being up there."

Bella rested her hand on the handle of the carrier. "Toby believed that babies needed to be up where the parents could see them. So he used his powers to build the equipment that his children would need. Cissy's carrier and bouncy seat both have the ability to fuse to any surface, flat or not." She gestured to the child's seat in the cart.

"None of these options work though in the human world, their technology is nowhere near as advanced as it needs to be for it to work yet." She shrugged offhandedly. "So if Toby or Tessa wanted to use this outside of the Other world they needed to make sure they didn't expose our kind."

"So Toby used the other world magic to make sure that their secrets were safe?" I guessed, awed by the ingenuity of Bella's cousin.

Bella grinned easily. "By making it seem that nothing was wrong in everyone's minds. Simple yet genius."

"Can we go in now?" Anna tugged on my arm pleadingly.

I ruffled her curls. "Alright Anna, we're heading in."

Bella put the carrier back in the car and we headed inside.

"I understand your cousins' thoughts but I can't help but think that there are plenty of human creations that work just as well for carrying children hands-free. Then there would be no reason for the carrier. It just seems like a lot of work for what the humans have already made," Carmen voiced cautiously. She didn't want to upset Bella or Anna.

Bella shrugged. "The human alternatives aren't very practical for us."

That surprised both Carmen and me.

Bella smirked as she led Anna to the carts. "Go on Anna find the perfect cart."

I watched Anna as she picked the cart, seeing it in a new light now. "This isn't just Anna looking for a good cart is it?"

Bella shook her head, her smirk widening. "The better the cart, good balance no wheels messed up, and so on and so forth, the faster the carrier fuses to it and the less magic needed to do so."

Bella lifted Anna and had her sit in the seat. We headed for the produce section first.

I couldn't take it anymore, I was too curious. "Why do you consider the items the humans made impractical."

Bella and Anna shared a look before Bella answered. "It's an Other world lifestyle way of thinking. Nowadays normal humans have devices to strap the baby in front of them." She met my gaze. "This places the baby right in front of the heart."

"Which makes them a target," I surmised.

Bella nodded. It's one thing if we're holding them, we can move them quickly, having them strapped in, no way, it would take too long to get them out of the way if something were to threaten us. Then of course there's the fact I couldn't wear one even if I wanted to."

I pulled my shopping list out of my purse. "Why not?"

"My speed and strength would be dangerous to Cissy whenever it comes in." Bella shuddered. "And if it were to come in while I was holding her."

She didn't need to finish that sentence. I shook just thinking about it. I wanted those images out of my mind."

"Can we get Bananas?" Anna clasped her hands together and batted her eyelashes.

I could always rely on her to ease my concerns. "We're getting bananas first, sweetheart."

I hope you all liked that outtake. It was a little longer than I had originally thought these outtakes would be, but that's alright.
