Transitionals

Hey everyone, so, it's too bad about the snow, isn't it?

I've been struggling with snow storms after snow storms for the past few days. It has put a serious damper on my writing. As soon as the snow kicks in I struggle to find any desire to write.

Thankfully I haven't lost power (yet, and hopefully won't.)

Anyway, the snow has trapped me away from home which really limits my writing time. So I apologize for the late chapters but never fear we are still slowly trucking along.

Just a heads up, this outtake is actually going to be a collection of outtakes from Charlie's POV. All of them deal with the same theme, the Hunters. Today's outtake is going to be the first of at least three, maybe more.

This Chapter is dedicated to all my family members who courageously drive in the snow. And anyone else who manages this.

Outtake: Was it an Attack, or a Hunt? (This takes place a day after the Car Crash. The evening right after Chapter 7)

Charlie's POV

If there was one thing that living in the Other world taught you, it was you do what needs to be done.

Ever since I was a young child I had learned to hide my actions. My thoughts were protected by my shield, but I was always careful with the things I did.

I knew that my mom would understand my desire to hide my true feelings of my dad's work. She would do whatever she could to help me hide my actions that went against my dad's teachings.

Even as a young boy I knew I would never be a hunter like my dad and brother. I couldn't comprehend how either one of them could willingly kill transitional creatures.

Now though, I was finding that I was hiding far more than ever before.

I took a steadying breath before tiptoeing into Bella and the girls' room. Quietly, I opened the door and stuck my head into the room to check on them. All three were sleeping silently at the moment.

I flexed my shield slightly to see if our guest was outside again. I had only sensed him here once before, after feeling his powers against my shield.

Bella and the girls had gone to bed earlier today, and it was only nine in the evening.

I crept back out of the room and made sure to close the door slowly to keep it from making a sound and waking any of the girls.

Just to be safe I also walked down the stairs cautious of every step that might squeak.

I went into the kitchen and grabbed the phone off its hook.

As I dialed, I couldn't help thinking about Bella and the girls. I didn't like keeping secrets from them, but it needed to be done. I could shield my mind, and Bella wasn't strong enough yet to be able to protect the girls'.

"Hello?"

I took a shuttering breath. "Do you have the information I asked you about yesterday?"

There was a pause before the voice over the phone changed. "The Hunters are being careful. They aren't fully committing themselves to the actual hunt. Merely sending an attack to increase her transition."

"Whoever these Hunters are, their clever," The first voice spoke up. "They knew Bella could have stopped the van, it was just a ploy to increase the amount of power and energy they could get from her destruction. They're not going to stop, they're going to keep pushing her with small attacks to keep pushing her percentage up."

I scrubbed my face with my hand. "I can't just keep Bella locked up in the house. She needs to go to school she has to keep up the human world facade especially if she is living with me. I can't hide her or the girls from the town."

"Charlie," the second voice whispered comfortingly. "We know this is difficult for you, and I know that you don't like keeping secrets from Bella, but her transition does not need to be affected by this.

"If she knew what the Hunters were planning, if she knew their new threat to her and all of the other transitional creatures, her transition wouldn't last."

"I know, I know," I tried to sound convincing, forcing calm into my voice but I could hear the waiver. "I just can't stand this threat against her. Why her, why my daughter. My dad's old colleagues still contact me from time to time, the ones who are still alive."

The first voice shushed me quickly. "Charlie, we know it's hard. We're sorry, but you need to calm down. We can't risk Bella overhearing any of this."

I scoffed. "You're using an information box to keep an eye on her, don't try to deny it. I looked through the box of all the information boxes from the family, and there are few missing. Both of you helped clear up the destruction of the Higginbotham house."

"Okay, yes Charlie, we both have one of Bella's information boxes, but just because we can see that she's sound asleep right now doesn't change the fact that we can't risk her waking up." The first voice lowered so I had to strain to hear him.

"The Hunters are figuring out ways to counteract the curse that keeps them from being able to stop a hunt. They haven't been able to fix it completely and as of right now there are some serious side effects…"

"Like the fact, if they don't use it correctly an attack immediately turns into a hunt whether they consciously decided to commit fully to it or not," the second voice interrupted.

I closed my eyes and shook my head. I never thought I'd see a day where the hunters would try something so deadly to their kind.

"Charlie?" The second voice asked nervously after a moment of silence. "I was wondering if you ever got a chance to talk with your wife about the measures you put in place for Bella. In fact, the entire group was wondering about that."

I rested my head against the wall and my mind drifted to Renee. She knew about the group I was a part of. She knew what I had been working towards. I fought back the pain and did my best to answer without my voice cracking. "I told Renee a few years ago, she wasn't happy but she understood." Swallowing back the lump in my throat I forced the rest of the words they wanted to hear out. "I haven't told Bella, and I don't plan to, unless there's no other way. Right now she's completely oblivious so her transition is safe. She doesn't know that I'm spying on the Hunters for the Rebellion. She doesn't have access to a sign and even if she did get a hold of one she wouldn't bother to search through all the information it's collected on her."

The two people over the phone sighed deeply before the second spoke. "It's your choice Charlie, but I would really think about at least telling Bella that…"

"If I tell Bella that the Hunters' signs don't recognize me as her dad…"

"She'd understand," The second voice snapped; interrupting my interruption.

"Charlie," the first voice added. "We'll follow your lead, and I'll keep an eye on what they planning for Bella. I'll call whenever I find something, but I really think you should get out while you still can."

I clenched my fist tightly. I knew the both of them were just trying to help Bella.

It was just too hard for me to imagine what Bella would do if I told her. She has enough on her plate, especially since she won't let the Cullens help. Whatever had happened it had changed our plans. Bella was keeping everyone at arm's length. It made it very difficult for me to even think about adding more to her fragile state of mind.

"Charlie, we need to get going, but I'll let you know if I find out anything else about the attack with the van." The first voice changed slightly allowing me to hear their real voice. "I'll protect Bella and you no matter what you chose, but we all need to remember that there's two little ones who are mixed up in this. More so than they were before."

I nodded, my mind going to Anna and Cissy. "Thanks Blaize, I really appreciate all the help."

"No problem, Charlie," Blaize replied.

I hung up then. My head dropped back so I was looking up at the ceiling above me.

Blaize and whoever had been with him hadn't outright said it, but they didn't have to.

As far as Bella knew, she only had the two little girls and me left. The four of us were all the family any of us had left.

How would Bella feel if she knew that I was working for the rebellion to spy on the Hunters? More importantly, how would she feel if she knew that to protect her, I had to make sure that the other hunters don't know she's my daughter? The worst of all, how would she feel if she ever found out that I had her spelled so she wouldn't ask me why the Hunters don't make the connection that we're related?

Author's Note

I know that most people don't write outtakes for their stories, but I personally really struggle only writing in one POV. That was why I chose to add the Cullens' POVs after writing Bella's for each book. I also knew that I would need these outtakes to fill in info that wouldn't come from Bella's POV.

These next few outtakes are hopefully going to help you all understand the hunters better. I also really hope it helps you all see why Charlie is also letting Bella have her way with most of what is going on.

BONUS NOTE

Three that will be posted Today, Tomorrow, and Tuesday, one each, and then the one I promised a while back which will be at the end of the last chapter of Bella's POV for Transitionals: Eclipse.

So without further ado,

Today's Sneak Peek (200 words from the wedding rehearsal.)

It was utter chaos and yet I couldn't help laughing. Phil and Gi's son Cody was pouting in a corner as his mother was fixing his hair. Since arriving a few days ago, Cody had spent most of his time trying out his newfound powers on Emmett.

Emmett, of course, didn't mind and he enjoyed the metamorphosis powers. He hadn't been happy though when he found out it was all in the mind, so he never looked any different to me.

Anna was trying to keep the flower petals from Cissy who was already looking forward to throwing them.

Alice zipped passed me in her hurry to make sure everything would be delivered on time. For the past few days, her phone had practically been attached to her ear.

Music started filling the room and turned to Edward's piano. He was standing beside his prize instrument while Rose played.

"Places," Alice yelled. "Everything has to be perfect, and I won't settle for anything less than that."

Emmett's bellowing voice filled the room. "Kinda hard to do that when Bella can trip and break the stairs."

I knew he was teasing me but I was really dreading coming down the stairs…

I hope you all liked the sneak peek. The second one will be tomorrow at the end of the third chapter I will post.

Until tomorrow,
