Hey it's another chapter! I really got into writing this again so that is good!

Ch.5

Day 114

Maria laid awake in the cell as she stared up at the ceiling. She had been left alone for almost the entire day again. Hours and hours had passed with nothing happening. Nothing happened and Maria no longer cared. She only could sit there and hope for something to happen. For Roxas to come by and talk with her… or even Saix with an answer.

But for now she only could sit there and wonder now what would happen next. She had tried to pace around the cell to relax herself, but it only seemed to make things worse. Laying around and spacing out didn't help either, but after so long she just didn't feel like doing much else.

As she laid there in silence, she could continue to feel her mind grow weak. More and more as time passed she could feel herself slowly slipping away. She swore she could hear the mindless… almost animistic… thoughts of the Heartless trying to take over.

Closing her eyes she stretched out her arms and sighed heavily. It felt like such an effort to even move her body now. "Will I lose control of my body first?... Will I be just watching myself move as the Heartless mind controls my body?"

Minutes passed as Maria couldn't find a good enough reassuring answer for herself. Ever since waking up like that… everything had felt hopeless. She knew she shouldn't give up just yet… she still wanted answers… and she knew Roxas wouldn't want her to give up. But it had been days now… she no longer knew how many. Everything blurred together and nothing made much sense anymore.

"I have come to the final conclusion," a voice stated.

Maria slowly opened her eyes to see Saix standing in front of the cell once again. With a huff of air Maria slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position. She blinked a few times as she tried to clear her vision.

"What is it?" she asked quietly. "What did you find?"

"It was a suspescion I had from the start, but I needed to observe more and do more examination first," Saix replied.

Maria's eyes narrowed as she instinctively placed her arms over her chest. Saix almost seemed to chuckle slightly. "Relax. It is not those types of examinations. There are special sensors within the cell. Those are what were used to check what I wanted to see."

"And? Please tell me the answer…" Maria asked, pleading slightly, but also not even sure if she wanted to hear the answer.

"I still do not understand how it was ever possible… but it what it is." Saix then paused for a moment before he went on. "It is not that you a girl who is half Heartless. But actually… a combination of a Nobody and Heartless."

Maria wrinkled up her nose. "A nobody? I thought by now you would be past insults."

"No you do not understand what I mean. I mean the term Nobody, with a capital N. It is a term to describe the empty shell of a person that is left when they lose their heart to the darkness."

Maria tilted her head to the side, still not quiet understanding what he mean. "I still… don't get it…"

"When someone losing their heart to the darkness, two things happen. Their heart is swarmed by darkness and a Heartless is formed from that. A Nobody, is the empty shell that is left once the heart is gone. But it seems with your case… your heart never fully or properly separated. And from that somehow… someway you became a mix of the two."

Maria blinked as she tried to process what she had just heard. "A Nobody?... Losing my heart?" She didn't have time to answer though as Saix continued on.

"We Nobodies are just empty shells of what we once were. We are not meant to even exist. So because of that eventually we are to fade away into nothingness. Which is why I believe your Heartless side of you is easily consuming you. Your Nobody half of you is fading away faster than normal because of the darkness that is your Heartless half."

Saix paused for a moment as he looked at Maria's confused expression. "Do you understand what I mean?"

"I… I think? I'm still not quite sure… You mean I was suppose to lost my heart at some point?" Maria asked. At that moment something was nagging at the back of her head. As if she was trying to remember something, but everything felt hazy when she tried to think about whatever it was.

"Yes. How that may have happened could be many reasons, but you were to lose your heart just like the rest of all have. But something strange happened with you. That one part is something I could not figure out, but I know now the reasoning for everything else."

"Is there anything you can do then? Is there a way to save me or stop the Heartless half from taking over?" Maria asked as she stood up and walked right up to the gate.

Saix closed his eyes and lowered his head slightly. "That… I am afraid… cannot be done."

Maria looked at Saix with a perplexed expression. Did he almost seem… regret over that? She knew Saix was hard to read… and that he was rather rude… but this was not something she expected. This whole time… did he want to help her? Maria couldn't figure it out at all.

"What… why not?" Maria asked quietly as she kneeled down right in front of Saix.

"Even if I had known the answers from the start, it would have been too late," Saix stated. "Your Heartless half already had taken over half of you by that point."

"There's… n-nothing you can do now?"

"Sadly yes. Even if I were to give you a cloak to protect yourself from the darkness, it would still eat away at you."

Maria clenched her fist, not in anger or frustration, but to try to stop her hands from shaking. If there was nothing that could be done… then was she just suppose to let herself be consumed by the Heartless? Just to wait and let it happen to her? She couldn't stand that fact. She wished there was something that could be done. She didn't want to be lost to the Heartless half.

Maria let out a exasperated yell as she gripped her head. Her hands trembled as she stood up and staggered backwards. Everything started to blur in his vision and her legs felt weak. She collapsed to the floor of the cell in the next second, her body twitching ever so slightly.

Saix only watched with what could be pity. He stared for a moment, watching as Maria struggled. He thought of something that he could do… stun her and perhaps knock her out of it just like before. He raised his hand, ready to use a dark energy attack, but just as he was about to do it, Maria looked up at him.

She stared at him with wide eyes… both glowing yellow. The darkness had not fully covered her face, but it was rather closer to. Maria slinked back to the corner of the cell, her head and entire body shifting and twitching.

The floor around her started to fill with darkness, as Maria sank down into it. The darkness covered her and when it faded away she was no longer there. Saix lowered his hand and let out a sigh. He knew there was nothing more that could be done… not by him at least. There was now a dangerous and perhaps powerful Heartless on the loose now… and there was only one way to properly dispose of a Heartless.

Saix waited until Roxas returned from his mission in the Grey Room. Roxas came in minutes later in a fast pace. "Where's Maria? I went to check on her, but she wasn't there."

"I know that," Saix replied. "Which is why you are needed for a last minute emergency mission."

"What?" Roxas asked. He originally thought Saix had something to do with Maria's disappearance, but now he just felt confused.

"Maria's Heartless half took control of her again and she escaped. I believe she is somewhere back outside of the castle. You must go out there, find her, and dispose of her."

So we got now one more chapter. That's right, one final chapter. Heh hope you guys enjoy :P
