Atem, as promised, walked Terry back home. He was not happy with her plan of action, but he was unable to complain since she had actually disclosed the details and included him in them. Reaching the house, he stopped at the front gate and stared at the front door. A small frown tugged at the corners of his lips.
I have to talk to her father again and probably tell him about how I feel about her. How will that go? He's a nice guy, but this is his one and only daughter. Who knows how protective he is. Should I tell him now? I should probably make it clear to him before I make it clear to Terry. I want his approval. He glanced at Terry who silently watched him with a frown of her own.
"Do you want to come in?" She asked again, seeing that she now had his attention. She had asked before, but it fell on deaf ears. His lack of response made her look to see something serious was on his mind. "Everything ok?"
"Yeah, just thinking about stuff. I should head home for tonight. I don't wanna impose on your family anymore and Yugi is probably antsy waiting for me." He shook his head lightly, patting Terry on the head. She blinked at the sudden touch, surprised by it.
"You're never imposing, especially when we keep asking you to come in." She shook his hand off, holding it in both of her own. "You're always welcome over...and well, now I guess it's even more allowed." She said with a shy smile that had Atem's heart leaping in his throat in no time. Clearing his throat he muttered some form of agreement and shuffled his feet.
"I'll come over next time, promise. You need to rest up after telling those to knuckleheads about you plan. They'll give you hell every syllable of the way." He chuckled, resting his head against hers.
"Yeah, you're right, good night then. Text me when you get home and let your family know I say hello." She whispered the words, the two of them standing in blissful silence when the front door swing open.
"Atem and Terry sitting in a tree!" The infamous duo began to serenade, earning the attention of the couple and some passing strangers. The discord of sound shattered the blissful silence that had blanketed over the pair, earning a glare from Atem and a sigh from Terry.
"Are you two fucking five?" Atem growled, ready to stomp his way into the yard to throttle the two. Terry quickly grabbed his arm, shaking her head as she stifled the laughter that threatened to come out.
"They aren't worth it, trust me and then you'll have to come in and explain to everyone what's going on." She pointed out to him, the words freezing him in his tracks. She was right and this was not the way he intended to go about introducing himself.
"Out of five? Why yes, yes we are." Jonouchi gave a cheeky grin as Marik nodded his head in agreement.
"I totally forgot, you're right." Atem agree with a smirk, surprising the two.
"You agree, well I mean of course you agree! Why wouldn't you?" Marik scoffed, puffing his chest with pride.
"How couldn't I? You're both the kings of dumbassery." He casually shrugged as the two continued to nod in agreement until coming to an abrupt halt.
"Hey, wait a minute! The fuck you mean by that punk?" Marik scowled, rolling up on of his sleeves as if to come over and fight Atem.
"Yeah punk, think you're so cool saying that from over there?" Jonouchi scoffed, cracking his knuckles. Terry hung her head at the ridiculous argument that was taking place. She tried to get Atem's attention by tugging his arm, but seeing as nothing was working she figured she needed to be a little more extreme. Swallowing her worries, she pecked him on the cheek and all three of them froze.
"You have to head home, remember? Thanks for walking me home and we'll talk more tomorrow. Text me when you get home, ok?" She stepped through the front gate as Atem mutely nodded, holding his kissed cheek. Walking up to the stunned Jonouchi and Marik, she tugged at one of their ears each and pulled them towards the front door. "C'mon you two, we have to get in before the others worry." She sighed, the two yelping at the tug.
"Hey, no fair! Why don't we get the sweet treatment?" Marik pouted as he rubbed his now freed ear.
"Because, you two had to make a scene. You were so loud, who knows if your siblings or my dad saw!" She grumbled a bit under her breath, cheeks a little red at the thought of being seen by the elders.
"Aww, we were just having some fun! You know we'd never intentionally let something like that happen before you're ready to say anything." Jonouchi threw his arm around her as Marik held the door open for them.
"Ready to say what?" Ishizu's voice caught him by surprise, making him jump.
"Sister, what are you doing here?" Marik quickly jumped in front of Terry, earning a cocked brow from Rishid.
"We live here with you."
"Oh, right...yeah, I totally know that!" Marik scoffed. "That's not what I was asking at all!"
"Then what were you asking?" Ishizu crossed her arms, tapping her foot.
"I totally meant here as in in foyer area here, not here as in in house here." He quickly covered his tracks. "You were in the kitchen when we were heading out to go wait for Terry at the usual meetup stop."
"Uh-huh...and again, what's not ready to be said?"
"Hey, isn't dinner ready? Terry, you should go get changed. You've been in your uniform this whole time you gotta be itching to relax, right?" Jonouchi pushed her towards the stairs once their shoes are off. "You better hurry along now, foods gonna get cold and uncle is waiting!"
"Welcome home Terry, we'll see you at the dinner table." Rishid lightly ruffled her hair, aiding the boys in their terrible attempt to switch the subject.
"I'm back," she gave a broad smile. "I'll be down real quick." With those words, she was up the steps in no time and Rishid was ushering the others along to the table where Aslan was reading some of the mail as he awaited the others.
"Sorry for the delay uncle, Terry is home now." Marik announced, jumping ahead to avoid Ishizu who he knew would not easily give up.
"That's fine, we were waiting on her anyway. Did you pick her up?" He smiled at them as he put the mail away.
"No, Yami came and dropped her off the whole way. They were just about heading to the door as we stepped out." Jonouchi added, slipping into his usual seat as they others follow.
"Oh, why didn't you invite him in? We have enough food for one more." He frowned, feeling terrible that he was unable to thank the young man for helping his daughter so much.
"Terry tried, he said he had to head home. His mom and brother were waiting for him." The blonde shook his head as Terry walked into the room, greeting her father with a hug.
"Good evening Baba," she kissed him on the cheek. "Sorry I'm late, I was talking with Atem on the way back."
"Welcome back and no worries, all that matters is you're safe and he was there." He smiled, giving her hands a squeeze before kissing her on the temple. "Now, go sit and we can all start to eat. Nodding her head, she quickly settled in her seat so they could all begin to eat, enjoying the meal.
