(Alright... Not gonna lie... I might actually be dead... Lotta things going on with me. But I guess i'll do what I can. "Steel they Shovel and ready for combat!")
Link walked behind Midna as they entered the next chamber. The room had a large number of eye switches lining the walls.
"Well this would be simple if I had any arrows." Link sighed.
"What about those?" Midna pointed to a large boulder sitting along the wall. Link approached it and hefted it over his head and threw it. It broke as it struck the hard temple floor. There was a small gap in the wall that housed a small chest. He kicked it open and reached inside. The chest house a large bundle of arrows. He let out a small cry of triumph as he placed the arrows into his quiver.
"Alright looks like this is going to be easy now." He said while nocking an arrow. He let if fly at one of the many eye switches. The eye shut and a loud buzz sounded as a large group of mini-freezards dropped from the ceiling. Link quickly dispatched them and aimed at another eye. Another buzz and another group of enemies. This trend continued until Link finally set his sights on the only remaining eye switch. The arrow struck and another buzz sounded and the door remained firmly shut.
"Maybe not as simple as you think Hero." Midna said with a smirk.
"Maybe there is a fake wall or something?" Ralis asked him.
"Yeah that's a possibility, but my bomb counts running a little low." Link mentioned.
"Is there is a way to tell the fake wall apart?" Ralis asked.
"Yeah I know an old trick." Link said while unsheathing his sword. He swung the sword at the wall. It clanked as it richoted off the wall. Link moved a few feet down the wall and swung again. He continued down the wall swinging his sword every few feet. He hit a a section that emitted a higher pitched clang. He removed a bomb from his satchel and placed it on the ground. Everyone took a step back as they waited for it to detonate. It finally exploded and the wall crumbled. Behind the wall was another eye switch. Link nocked a final arrow and shot the switch. The door finally slide open and Link let out a tired sigh.
"Something bothering you Link?" Ralis asked the young Hero.
"Nothings wrong, I just want to get out of here." Link avoided any other questions by pushing the door open. The next room was built like a massive maze. The walls of the maze stretched all the way to the ceiling. The group slowly walked down corridor after corridor. They just kept walking hoping one of the paths would lead them out. They turned a corner and finally caught sight of the exit. As the neared it a gout of flame shot up barring the door. A large Dynalfos dropped from the ceiling behind the trio. Link turned and pushed Ralis behind him. Midna instinctively drew her sword and stood beside Link. The creature shrieked as it brought its blade down on Link. He held his blade up to deflect the blow. Link recoiled harshly from the attack. Link could begin to feel his body shut down. He dropped his blade and pulled his bow up and fired. The arrow firmly embedded itself in the lizards thick hide. It hissed in rage and lunged at Link. Link fumbled to grab his sword but couldn't get a hold of it. Midna lunged in-front of Link and parried the beasts blade away. The beast hissed and attempted to swing again. She parried the blade again knocked the blade away from the beast. It angrily roared and retreated to retrieve it's blade.
"Link get up and get out of here, you are in no shape to fight." She motioned for Ralis to help Link up. Ralis came up and helped Link onto his feet. Link draped his arm over Ralis's shoulder. Ralis helped him to retreat a bit deeper into the room. Midna still stood firm in-front of the two preventing the creatures advances. The Dynalfos finally retrieved it's blade and again began to assault Midna again. Link watched as Midna continued to deflect attack after attack. Midna knocked the blade away again and swung low. Her blade cut into the creatures legs and it dropped onto it's knees. It weakly hissed and Midna quickly dispatched the creature. Midna quickly returned to Link's side.
"Wow... Midna that was really impressive." Link said while looking at her.
"Link... why didn't you tell that you were feeling exhausted." She placed her hand on his forehead.
"Midna, I'm telling you I'm fine." Link said while brushing her hand away.
"Well you don't have a fever, so you must just be tired." She told him.
"Ralis why don't you get something for me to lay my head down on." Link asked Ralis. Ralis nodded and left the two.
"Link why didn't you tell me something sooner?" Midna asked him clearly worried.
"Well the last thing I wanted was the damsel in distress to worry about the hero." Link said with a quiet chuckle and smile. Midna couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the Hero's carelessness.
"You really need to take better care of yourself Link." Midna told him.
"Or maybe you need to stop worrying about everyone so much." Link said with another chuckle. Midna scowled at the Hero's callous disregard of himself.
"Link... Maybe you need to stop trying so hard to think up witty comebacks." Midna said with another chuckle. Link grinned as he realized it was pointless to argue with her. Link laid his head on the ground and sighed.
"Alright you got me with that one." Link chuckled and looked at her. She gave him a warm smile. He reached his hand up and placed it on her cheek. She brought her face down closer to Link's. Link brought his face closer to Midna's.
"Link..." She whispered under her breath as he drew closer. Midna closed her eyes and waited. Her face grew hot as she awaited anything. She felt Link kiss her forehead. Link removed his hand from her cheek and laughed.
"Something bothering you Midna, you look flushed and kinda worried?" Link asked her with a big smirk on his face. Midna blushed and turned away from the Hero. She stood up and run off. Link dropped his hand to the ground and chuckled. Ralis returned with Link's green tunic folded up. Ralis lifted up Link's head and placed the folded up tunic beneath his head. Link thanked Ralis and looked at the temples ceiling. The ceiling was dark and unscathed despite it's apparent age. Link closed his eyes and slowly felt himself drift off to sleep.
~ Meanwhile at the Palace of Twilight ~
A loud thump resounded through the empty throne room. The large man stood with his hand raised. The dark clothed boy laid motionless on the cold stone floor.
"Get up you useless fool!" The man shouted at the motionless boy. The imposing man stepped down from the throne and slowly walked towards the boy. Each footstep echoed through the empty room. As he grew closer the boy began to quiver. The man stopped as the boy slowly pulled himself up and to his feet.
"Forgive me.." They boy said quietly.
"What was that, speak up boy!" The man shouted again.
"I said, I'm sorry for my failure." The boy said slightly louder.
"I quickly grow tired of your constant failures." The man seized the boy by the shoulder.
"Master I swear I will not fail again." The boy told him. The man's eyes blazed with pent up rage as he stared at the boy. The man gritted his teeth in frustration.
"What will it take for you to kill two people, is the power I've given you not enough!" The man was grow more angry by the minute. The man reached for the black bracelet and twisted another gem. It lit up and the man cast his gaze upon the boy.
"Master... I thank you." The boy said while steeping towards the portal.
"And pray you do not fail this time, if you do you better not come back..." The man gave this last warning before returning to his throne. The man sighed as he looked at his bracelet. Two gems shone brightly against the dimly lit room.
~ Back beneath Zora's Domain ~
Link awoke and glanced around the room. There was still was no sign of Midna. Ralis was sitting nearby. Link sat up and called for Ralis. Ralis turned and stood up and went over to Link.
"Something the matter Link?" Ralis asked him.
"Yeah have you seen Midna anywhere?" Link responded with his own question.
"She said something about scouting ahead and left the room, she took her sword as well." Ralis said pointing to the door they came in. Link's eyes widened as he felt for his key ring. She had taken the Big Key and left to fight the boss alone. Link bolted to his feet and quickly grabbed his sword.
"Ralis we need to go, and fast." Link told Ralis as he ran to the door. Ralis quickly packed up Link's spare tunic and slung his pack on his back and followed Link. The duo left room and back tracked to the previous hub room and headed down the path leading to the left. Link lifted the door open and found the puzzle already solved and the enemies all dealt with. He pushed open the next door. In the room He saw Midna locked in combat with another Dynalfos. It hissed and knocked Midna's blade away. She stumbled backwards and jumped away after regaining her balance. She lobbed orbs of dark energy at the beast. As the orbs struck it hissed but kept advancing closer. She pressed her back against and lobbed a few more. Link charged forward and bashed it out of the way with his shoulder. Link drew his sword and stood in front of Midna. Midna looked shocked at Link's sudden appearance. The creature hissed as it picked itself off the ground. Link motioned for it to come at him. It roared and leaped at him. Link rolled forward and behind the creature as it landed. Link taunted the creature and sheathed his sword. Link stood calmly and locked eyes with the beast. It advanced slowly and raised it's ax to finish off the bothersome human. Link saw his opportunity and pulled his sword out and swung across the beast's chest. The cut was deep and the Dynalfos collapsed and perished.
"Pretty bold move Hero." Midna said with a scoff. Link spun his sword before sheathing it and approached her.
"What were you trying to prove here Midna?" He asked. She couldn't hear even a hint of anger in his voice. Rather she heard concern and fear in his voice.
"I wanted to prove I could handle things without your help." She said.
"And why did you need to prove this to me, I know your more then capable of things by yourself." Link told her. Again she heard only concern.
"Maybe he really does care about me..." She thought to herself.
"Link! Midna!" Ralis called over from the doorway. Link looked over and saw the prince waving at them.
"We're both alright Ralis, don't worry the room is clear." Link motioned for him to come closer. He happily approached the two fo them and smiled.
"I'm glad to see your both alright, Link really was in a rush to get here." Ralis said with a sigh. Link rubbed the back of his head as Ralis spoke. Midna grinned at the Hero.
"Were you really that worried about me?" She asked him. Link leaned in close.
"I thought I already explained this to you." Link said quietly.
"Yeah but it never hurts to see just how much you care." Midna said with a giggle while pushing the hero away. She stood up and retrieved her sword from the ground and sheathed it.
"Well now that we are reunited how about we carry on?" Ralis asked while pointing to the other door.
"Yeah that might be a good idea, I just want to hurry up and get out of here." Link said while rubbing his shoulder. He pushed the door open and was greeted by a blast of icy wind. The room was colder then the last. Inside the room there were numerous Freezards littering the room. Link could see Minda shudder.
"Is anyone else cold?" She asked the group.
"Yeah a little." Link responded.
"I swear it's been getting colder and colder." She said while rubbing her hands together. Link shrugged his shoulder. Link fired a few volleys of arrows at the various Freezards littering the room. They hissed as they slowly melted. Linked picked them off until they seemed to be done.
"Well that was easy, guess let's move on." Link said before looking at the door. There was a massive Freezard blocking the door. Link nocked an arrow and fired it. The arrow fizzled out and bounced harmlessly off the Freezard.
"I don't think that's going to work this time Link." Ralis pointed out.
"Well it's worked so far, why is this one immune?" Link asked.
"Maybe the frigid environment along with the Freezard's icy aura." Ralis pointed out. There was a small vortex of ice crystals revolving around the beast.
"Well do you have any other ideas?" Link asked.
"Yes, I do actually." Ralis said while a smirk.
"Well then let's hear it, we're not getting any younger." Link said with a sigh. Ralis pointed over to the corners of the room. A large cannon sat in each corner. Two large steel cannonballs were frozen in a large chunk of ice.
"Perhaps we could use those to dispatch the creature?" Ralis asked.
"Yeah maybe." Link said while taking inventory of his bombs. Luckily he had just enough. He thawed the ice chunk that contained the cannonballs. He picked one up and loaded it into one of the cannons. He repeated the process with the other one. He lit a bomb and dropped it into the slot near the back. Everyone stood back as it detonated. The cannonball flew out of the barrel and collided with the colossal Freezard. It roared in pain as cracks formed along it's body. Link ran to the other cannon and repeated the process. The cannonball collided and caused more cracks to form.
"Well the Freezard seems to be weak but not yet defeated." Ralis said while looking around the room.
"What about that?" Midna pointed to a large icicle above the beast.
"That would do the job Midna." Ralis nodded his head as he pointed it out to Link. Link aimed an arrow and knocked it down. It fell onto the Freezard causing it to shatter. A small legion of Mini-freezards were now charging the Hero's squad. Link dispatched them with a few quick sweeps of his sword. The trio readied up and Link pushed open the door.
The cold stone scraped open granting access to the nest chamber. A large door sat at the far end with a massive lock on it.
"Hey that looks like a boss door to me." Link says waltzing up to the door.
"Yeah I suppose, but we can't be too careful now can we Link." Ralis says following a few steps behind the Hero.
"Yeah but either way I really hope that we are almost done here, Link could really use a break."
"Come on, seriously!" Link groaned as he pulled another arrow from his quiver and aimed it at the lock. It ricocheted off but managed to melt off the ice. He untied the large, cold key from his belt and slid it into the massive lock. The rings that made up the lock twisted and turned and spun loudly. After a few seconds of the commotion the large heavy iron chains fell away from the door.
"Well good... Finally we can be finished with this blasted icy place..." Link grumbled as the cold stone door slowly slid upwards into the ceiling.
"Somehow... I doubt it will be that easy Link." Midna giggled.
"Either way, by the end we should hopefully find that key that you two are been searching for." Ralis spoke somewhat tiredly.
"Yeah hopefully..." Link grumbled.
(Alright! Short I know. But I just want to get something out. Sorry for the wait if any of you are still even around to read this... Let me know if you still are.)
