(Hey Guys! Turns out i'm not actually dead! Life's just been kinda chewing me up lately so I haven't had much time to write. But i'm going to do my best to keep it up and post some new stuff for you guys. "Steel Thy Shovel! And Ready For Combat!")
Link dragged his feet against the cold stone flooring as he made his way through the dark stone tunnel. The group emerged in a large, cylindrical room that had a bottom filled with ice. A large metal walkway encircled the chamber seemingly leading no where. He glanced around the large empty room as his eyes were finally drawn to the ceiling. The ceiling was dotted with numerous portholes, Each of which seemed to be shut with no way to open them. Midna bent over the railings to look at the bottom.
"So what now? Seems like a dead-end to me." Link shrugged and headed back towards the massive slab of stone that served as the door. As he drew large barbed bars dropped in front of the door barring escape.
"Well Link... This must be the boss room then." Midna says leaning down a little more as she noticed a small greenish sparkle at the bottom of chamber inside the ice.
"Midna? May I ask what it is you are looking at?" Ralis asked as a massive rumble shook the chamber. Midna looked on in horror as the green spark slowly filled the ice with florescent green lines. The green lines soon turned a deep red as the ice seemed to slowly move and lurch. She watched as a few red eyes popped up dotting the surface of the ice as it slowly started to creep up the walls.
"L-Link... I think you need to see this!" She says rushing over and grabbing him.
"What now?" He asks and Midna points down at the now slowly moving sentient block of ice. Several eye switches around the room spring open. Link quickly fumbles for his bow as the mass of ice slowly starts to climb the walls faster.
"Link! The switches!" Ralis shouts as he points at a large pull bar suspended on the ceiling locked behind a cage. Midna continues to watch as it slowly creeps up faster as the many red glowing eyes blink menacingly at the group far above it. Link finally pulls back an arrow and lets it fly. It whizzes through the air before striking the eye switch causing the cage for the pull bar to swing open. Link tossed his bow to the ground as he cold fingers fumbled the claw-shot from his belt. He slipped it on and aimed at the pull bar and launched the claw-shot. The claws gripped the bar firmly and hauled him up to it. As his weight pulled the bar down one of the portholes slowly opened as a large still molten boulder fell. It crashed onto the metal walk as Link dropped and ran over to it.
"Link hurry it's getting closer!" Midna says frantically watching as the slab of ice slowly inched closer and closer to where they stood. Link growled as he placed his hands against the molten hunk of rock. He could still feel the intense heat as he hauled it up and slung it over the railing. It plummeted down the pit before colliding into the massive block of ice. The block hissed and screeched as the molten rock bored a massive hole through it's body. It fell down the pit and slammed into the ground as a several large cracks formed in it's surface stemming from the freshly melted hole in it's body./ The creature roared and redoubled it's effort to try and eliminate the source of the pain. Link fanned his hands in an attempt to cool the gauntlets off.
"Link,,, Again! It isn't stopping!" He says pointing to the eye switches as the began to slowly rotate around the chamber. Link growled at grabbed at the bow and fumbled an arrow from his quiver. He narrowed his eyes and squinted to try and line up a perfect shot. He focused as he heard the sounds of ice and metal grating against each other as the monster steadily scaled the wall towards the group. Ralis took a sharp breath as he watched Link hold the bow steady and focus. Ralis could have swore the Hero had become a statue until he released the arrow. It flew straight and nailed the switch perfectly. The switch cage once again fell open and Link fumbled with the claw-shot. Midna was curled up against the railing watching as Link seemingly maintained a completely cool head despite the impending doom that was creeping up the walls. The scraping and grinding of ice on metal was slowly growing louder as Midna covered her face. Link snagged the bar and another molten boulder crashed into the metal walkway. Link heaved it up and over the railing and again. It sizzled and hissed as it fell through the frozen air. It crashed into the massive sheet of ice and it screeched as it slowly melted it's way through it. It quickly careened back to the bottom of the pit. It smashed against the floor as the cracks grew larger and several of the eyes blinked out. It roared as small chunks of ice flew from the pit. The group gritted their teeth as sharp pieces of ice bounced off their faces. It began to once again creep up the walls faster then before. Several masses of ice fell from the ceiling as a small herd of mini-freezards began to make their way towards Link.
"Midna! A little help please! I can't aim with these things pestering me!" He shouted as she slowly uncurled and nodded. The scraping and grinding had now become almost deafening. Midna finally drew her blade and stood up and running over to Link's side. She stood back to back with him as she swept low shattering the small army of frozen assailants. He once again aimed his bow at the eye switch as it quickly revolved around the chamber. He drew in a deep breath and held his breath in a attempt to steady his aim. Ralis looked on in horror as the creature got closer and closer to the small platform. The air slowly grew more frigid as it drew closer. Link felt the chill as he focused and narrowed his eyes and focused in on the rotating switch. He finally let the arrow fly as the air grew deathly cold. It struck true and the cage swung open again. Link quickly snagged the claw-shot and let it fly. The wind stung his face as he flew towards the bar. It slide down and a final molten boulder fell crashing into the walkway. Link dropped and rolled towards it. He quickly placed his hands against it and shoved it into the railing. The railing melted and finally gave way as the boulder fell. It did not fall far before hitting the monster. It hissed and screeched as it slide down the pit. It slammed into the floor as the room shook. The cracks expanded and soon covered it's entire surface. It roared and screeched before shattering. Sharp shard of ice flew through the air causing the room to filled with a fine, icy mist. A large green orb rolled around at the bottom of the pit. A single golden eye switch emerged from a porthole on the wall. Link aimed a shot at it and the large metal walkway began to slowly descend the chamber. The gears clanked loudly as the walkway neared the bottom and slowed to a halt. The railings slid away as the walkway locked into the floor of the room. The large green sphere rolled around on the floor slowly picking up shards of ice. Link chuckled and drew his sword stepping closer to the ball as his sword glowed brightly. He spun his sword triumphantly and brought it down only for the ball to roll out of the way. It clinked off the ground wall and bounced up. It hovered in the air before emitting a brilliant green shock-wave. The group was immediately floored as the wave passed over them. The orb turned a hue of sinister red as all the shattered ice became to rotate around the sphere. The frozen vortex expanded as more and more ice was pulled in. The vortex slowed as Link and the group climbed back to their feet. The crashed together before slowly assuming a more humanoid shape.
"A Chilfos... Remember Link?" She asked glancing over at him.
"Yes... Unfortunately I do..." He grumbled As the mass grew larger and bulkier. He move and shook a little before forming a large glade of ice and roaring.
"Though Link... It's a lot larger then those one in Snowpeak..." She says looking at the head of the creature as it's helmet emitted the same sinister red glow.
"Yeah I can see that much Midna." He says sighing and pulling his shield off.
"Link! I'll protect Ralis and help you when I can!' She says drawing her sword and steeping in front of Ralis.
"Alright Alright..." He grumbled as the creature lumbered closer.
"Link... It seems to be a little off with it's movements... Maybe you can take advantage of that!" Ralis shouted at Link. Link focused in and did indeed notice the monster's movements were indeed stiff and sluggish. He stood still as it lumbered closer and he squeeze the handle of the his shield. It stiffly raised the frozen blade and brought it down at Link. Link watched as the blade got closer and tensed and shoved his shield forward. It shattered the ice blade and the monster reeled back as Link leapt over the monster swinging his blade downward as it fell backwards screeching. The icy helm had shattered revealing the crimson orb underneath. Link smiled and nodded towards Midna. Midna smiled and stepped forward. He held her blade beside her as her and Link paced slowly around the creature. She stepped close and swung low. Link mirrored the motion and swung the Master Sword high. His blade collided with the orb and it was sent flying across the room. It clinked against the wall as Link ran over and it rolled away quickly. It bounced once against sending out a brilliant red wave. Link and his companions were again knocked back. The vortex once again surrounded the orb. The ice formed a thin animal-like suit of armor as the creature dropped onto all fours and growled.
"Link! Be careful! It seems to change form the react to your fighting style!" Rails shouted at Link form his position against the wall. Link growled back at it as it charged at him before leaping. Link sprinted forward and slide under it holding his blade upright. It slashed open the underside of the frozen beast. It fell and rolled over back onto it's feet. It once again charged Link as it curled up into a ball. It rolled towards Link as he flashed a smile. Midna flashed the smile back at him. Link spaced his legs and held his hands in-front of him. The beast rolled toward him as he flexed his fingers and felt the beast impact his hands. He lifted up and held the beast aloft before hurling it into the wall. It smashed into the wall with a pained screech before collapsing in a heap. Link took a few steps and lept into the air plunging his blade into it. It hissed before shattering as the orb rolled away again. Link growled and kicked the wall.
"Stop mocking me Dammit!" He shouted charging after it. It continued to roll before finally bounding up again and blasting the chamber with another scarlet wave. Link dropped and rolled under the wave jumping up and drawing his sword. He lunged forward and swung his blade at the orb. It dropped to the ground dodging his swing and blasting him with another wave. He grunts as the wave pulls him off the ground and he slams into the wall. He growls as he hits the wall and collapses. He shakes a little as Midna rushes over to him. The ball leaps skyward as another vortex surrounds it. Link grumbles a little as Midna helps him up. He groans and sighs.
"Link! Are you okay!?" She quickly asks.
"Y-Yeah..." He coughs loudly and groans.
"No you're not! You're hurt!" She says setting him against the wall.
"Not much you can... D-Do with out my sword..." He says slowly sliding to his feet.
"Link! Please don't... I don't want you hurt..." She says standing in front of him. As she speaks the vortex surrounding the orb stops and it begins to reform again. It slowly expands and grows taller and more massive. Ralis reaches back and taps Midna's shoulder.
"Heh... Midna... Behind you..." Link chuckles.
"W-What are you laughing about!" She turns around and freezes.
"Y-You're going to need my help okay?" Link says grabbing his sword from the ground.
"But Link... Y-You're hurt..." She says deeply concerned.
"And we're all going to be hurt if we don't stop this thing... I'll be fine... Let's just get this over with quickly okay?" He says groaning. The entire floor shakes with each step of the beast. The two of them stand side by side.
"The orb is in it's head Link... But how are you going to get up there?" Midna asks as it draws closer.
"Simple... We'll bring it down here Midna." He smiling as he sheathing his sword and pulling his bow out. He pulls out a arrow and closes his eyes and focuses before letting loose a fire arrow aimed at the creature's chest. It struck the creature's large chest and it hissed slightly and it peered downwards at the two small figures. He roared and stomped it's foot down as the two dived out of the way. He leaned forward and slammed it's fist down near Link. Link grinned and leaped onto it's finger and dug his fingers into it as it lifted it's hand./\ He grips it tightly as it he watches the ground slowly shrink below him. He quickly climbs the fingers and hops onto it's wrist.
"Link... Please be careful..." Midna wishpers to herself standing in-front of Ralis.
"Midna... He'll be fine. He's a pro at this sort of thing." Ralis smiles and pats her shoulder.
"Y-Yeah... You're right Ralis..." She says heaving a deep sigh of fear and relief. He balances across it's wrist as it glances down and starts to shake it's arm. Link plunges his sword into it's wrist and tightens his grip as it flails it's wrist. Link growls as his bow goes flying and lands down on the ground below him.
"Midna you need to help Link!" Ralis shouts pointing to the bow as Midna nods looking up at Link.
"Don't worry Link... I'll save you..." She says grabbing the bow and pointing it towards the monster's chest. She closes her and focuses as the tip of the arrow flickers before busrting into flames. She releases the string as the arrow flies before hissing as it strikes the icy exterior of the beast. It hisses and looks down now shifting it's focus to Midna as Link swings his up. He briefly leaps into the air and pulls his sword out. He clings to frozen plates of armor as he climbs his way up. He slowly hand by hand makes his way up the frozen plates as Midna continues to offer support from the ground. He grunts as one of his hands slip as he briefly loses his grip. He shoves his blade into the beast and swings over towards the shoulder. He grips the large frozen pauldrons and grunts. He finally manages to haul himself onto the shoulder and sighs. He looks up and sees the same sinister red glow emanating from the large helm of the monster. He grits himself against the cold and growls as he throws himself against it's neck. Using his blade as leverage he slowly makes his way up the neck. As he reaches to grab the helm and continue his ascent his hand slips and he falls. He briefly panics before hitting the shoulder again. Link climbs to his feet and growls furiously. He furiously starts swinging his blade at the monster's neck. Each swing sending chunks of ice flying as it monster hisses.
"I'm so sick of this! Sick of all this climbing! Sick of this Dungeon!" He shouts hacking away with reckless abandon. He shoves his hands into the cracks and lifts with all his might. The gem on the gauntlet glows brightly as he grits his teeth. He growls and finally he hears the cracking and busting of ice. He slowly pries the helm of the monster from it's neck. He continues to lift with all his accumulated fury until at last he completely pulls the monster's head from it body. He grits his teeth against the weight and hurls it over the side. It falls hitting the ground with a grand smash. The fragments scatter filling the room with a fine dust as the orb rolls helplessly on the ground as it attempts to bounce and fire another wave only to fizzle. It blinks before rolling away quickly.
"Link! Get it it!" Midna shouts firing an arrow at it only for it to bounce off the surface of the orb.
"I got it Midna!" He shouts from the slowly crumbling suit of icy armor. He sits waiting listening to the cracking and crunching of ice. He freezes before throwing himself off the golem and towards the orb. He falls towards it and pulls his blade plunging it into the orb as it cracks and screeches as the blade glows white as the orb vanishes and a heavy metal key drops on the floor pulsing with Twili power.
"Link!" She runs over and hugs him as he pants and pulls the sword from the ground and coughs.
"Midna... I'm fine... But thank you..." He pants shakily climbing to his feet and sheathing his sword.
"Link... You don't look fine..." She says grabbing his arm.
"Midna... I-I'm fine okay? I just need some rest." He coughs again and slumps his arms still sweating despite the cold temperature. Ralis walks up to the pair and smiles.
"I assume that you have found what you are looking for Link and Midna." He smiles again.
"Yes. We have, And thank you Ralis for Assisting us." She smiles back and bows. She holds up the large metal key as it pulses with light in the dimly lit pit.
"Yeah we're all good now Ralis, Thanks for the help Pal." Link smiles back at Ralis before dropping to the ground.
(Well! How's that for an ending huh? Good huh? Evil Cliffhanger Style! But regardless. I'll see about getting the next chapter out quick as I can! And always remember! Steel Thy Shovel! And prepare for Combat!)
