(Hey everyone Welcome to the next chapter now 100% more consistenty... Maybe. Anyone. Hopefully this chapter will come sooner then the rest. Thanks for the all support you've all offered me over the four years this project has been going. So thank you all.)
Link and Midna both approach the end of the path leading out to the waterfall. He looks down into the spray.
"The usual huh?" He looks over at her as she nods and slowly sinks into his shadow as he walks to the edge. He takes a deep breath and leaps from the tip of the path and down into the distant water. He splashes down with a rather small splash as he pops his head above the surface.
"You have way too much fun with that Link." She giggles a little and smiles at him as he nods.
"Can you blame me? Gotta make the most of this while I'm here right? Fresh fish, Diving. The whole Zora's Domain experince." He laughs and swims down the river towards the entrance. A zora pops his head above the water.
"Welcome Sir Link." He pulls a bag from the water.
"Must be the supplies right?" He takes the bag and looks it over.
"Yes. Prince Ralis said it was important you obtain these before leaving." He nods in response to Link.
"Wow. Even waterproofed the bag. Impressive." He chuckles and takes a peak inside. Several bundles of dried fish and some wrapped fresh fish.
"Always efficent as ever isn't he Link?" She chuckles a little.
"Yeah not that i'm complaining. Saves me from having to catch them myself. So we can travel farther without the need of camping so early." He nods and closes the bag.
"Send our well wishes to Ralis." Midna smiles as Link nods in agreement and ties the bag to his hip. Midna sinks into his shadow as Link resumes swimming slowly down the river out of Zora's Domain. Link veers to the left out of the river as the current pulls hims down the river into the cave. He continues following the river until at last light fills his vison as he blinks to adjust his sight. He reaches out and snags the edge of a small set of stairs leading up from the river and slowly pulls himself up and out of the water. He shakes a little as water slowly drips from his tunic as Midna slowly pops back up.
"So if I recall correctly... This should've placed us near Castle Town yes?" She asks glancing around the surrondings.
"Yes. We should be there by sundown more then likely. We can visit Telma's car for a room. Rather then staying at another one of Malo's places. Plus I can meet with the Resistence and see if they can give me any leads."
"You mean that group from the bar? The young woman and the two men?" She asks trying to remember their names.
"Yeah, Ashei. Along with Auru and Shad." He answers her and chuckles.
"Yes! That was their names! How could I forget them. They were such a boon to us on our first adventure."
"I can't blame you really. It has been a long time. I was thinking you'd completely forgotten all of us by now." He shakes his head to dispel the thought.
"Link. You know I could never forget..."
"Don't worry about it. Sorry about that. Let's get a move on before it gets dark and the Lizalfos come out." He gives his tunic a final shake and heading in the directions of the bridge to Castle Town. As the two of them walk in silence as the turrets of the town's walls come into view. The turrets sit stoically casting their stony gaze out over the field acting as a beacon to all who seek solace. The two of them set their feet upon the cold stone bridge leading into Castle Town. They both pass through the great door the leads into the city. They head west into the busy square as people hustle and bustle still despite the hour growing late. Link and Midna quietly fight through the crowd heading south a ways. They pop through the crowd into the alley as Link hooks to the left into a dead end.
"Finally... We can catch a break... I forgot how busy Castle Town always is..." Midna sighs and catches her breath after fighting through the crowds to get here.
"And with Malo's new shops opening up left and right. It's only gonna get busier honestly." He chuckles a little sitting on a box as a familiar snow white cat slides out of the door to the bar.
"Oh? Isn't that the cat that showed you how to get to Zelda?" She asks glancing over at the cat as I slowly glances at Midna and back to Link.
"Oh yeah. Louise. I still owe her for helping me." He smiles a little as she walks over and glances up at him jumping up next to him on the box. He chuckles and gently pets her patting her head.
"Oh really?" She giggles a little. Louise glances over at her staring at her for a moment.
"Guess she doesn't recongnize you. Back then you were still just an imp." He continues to pet her.
"Shouldn't we head inside?" She points to the door.
"Oh yeah, That'd be a good idea actually." He stands up and yawns a little glancing skyward as the stars slowly start to pop into view in the night sky.
"Besides Link. I'm sure you're rather tired from all the swimming." She smiles.
"Yeah. And I could go for something to eat too. " He pats the bag from Ralis still tied to his waist.
"Fish again? Didn't we have fish already?" She shakes her head while smiling.
"Well. I don't feel like fighting that crowd again just to get something to eat. So fish it is then." Link walks up to the counter taking a seat as Midna sits next to him. Louise jumps onto the counter as Telma looks over at Link and Midna from cleaning a glass while talking to a diffrent patron. She walks over to the two of them as she shooting the two of them her trademark smile.
"Welcome back Hero. Came bacl to see little ole me?" She laughs and sets the glass down.
"Well. That's one reason I showed up. But mainly I need to talk to the Resistence."
"You came to chat with them? And who's the fine Lass Link?" She laughs and and glances over at her as she tugs the hood a little over her face.
"Just a colleague. I'm helping her out and to that end I need to chat with them."
"Well. The only one here right now is Shad. And he was on the look out for someone to assist him with research."
"Perfect. I'll head back and chat with him. Come on Midna Let's get a move on." He stands up and heads for the small room in the back of the bar. Midna gets up and follows him away from the bar. They both pass into the back room. Shad sits in the room with his nose firmly buried in a dusty old tome. Link and Midna sit down near to him. Shad stares at the book at Link clears his throat causing Shad to jerk up and shake his head.
"O-Oh Link! What are you doing back in Castle Town? Running some errands I assume?" He smiles and closes the book setting it on the table.
"Unfortunatly not actually. I'm here to find out if you know anything about a buried temple under Hyrule Castle."
"A buried Temple... Under the castle you say?" He scratches his chin deep in thought.
"Yes. I'll take anything you might have on it. Or even a hint."
"Well... I suppose I could rummage through some old tomes I have... But in exhange. I have a request."
"Alright. What is it then..." He sighs and rubs his head.
"Well it's nothing much. While researching more on the sky civilzation. I believe I located some schematics that seem to relate to that ancient device of yours... The Spinner was it?"
"Yeah. But what could you have found about that?" Link raises an eyebrow.
"Well, According to the info in the document i've decoded. It seems to be a perpetual motion modification to it."
"And what does that mean?" Link leans back in his chair.
"Well to put it in layman terms. It should allow the device to move non-stop with zero momentum loss." Shad holds up an old looking paper written in an unknown language.
"Wait. You mean like it won't ever slow down?" Link sits his chair down on the floor and leans on the table now interested.
"Yes unless you so choose to slow it down. Then you'd have to restart it manually."
"Anything else? Or is that it?"
"Well. Aside from that I assume it would offer a sizable mobility bonus." He looks back at the document.
"Alright. So what do I need to do then?" He asks leaning back into his chair.
"Well. I'd need a Ancient Motor... Some Sky Scrap... Sky Cogs... And finally some Lubricant... Yellow Chu Jelly should work for that." He sets down a piece of parchment and scribbles down the list on it.
"Sounds easy enough, But why do I have a feeling that's never the case." He chuckles a little as Midna giggles along with him.
"Well... I suppose scrap of the caliber I require may be silghtly difficult... But I can give you some areas to start your search!"
"Well that's better then nothing." Link grins and stands up sliding the paper over to him and glancing over it.
"I know Sky Scrap was common to ancient automatons. As for the Sky Cogs. I suppose you could search around Lake Hyila. Maybe some have washed down there. As for the motor... I doubt such a relic will be easy to find..."
"Sounds like more work to me." Link sighs and rubs his head.
"B-But maybe someone around Castle Town might know!"
"Thanks for the leads Shad. Suppose i'm off now to work on that." Link chuckles and heads out brushing the curtain aside.
"Doesn't sound that bad." Midna smiles and waves to Telma as the duo exit the bar as Link stretches and yawning.
"Yeah, I'd be lying if I wasn't a little interested in that."
"Well it might make getting around a little easier." She giggles a little.
"Yeah... That would be nice."
"Plus, I know you loved sliding around on that thing. The way you smiled always made me giggle." Link rubbed his head flashing her a sly smile.
"Well maybe I did have a lot of fun. But who wouldn't honestly."
"Well I will admit it did look fun." She smiles.
"Maybe you can try it sometime." He chuckles back at her.
"But wouldn't you get dizzy...?" She raises an eyebrow in curiousity.
"Well no actually. I don't really know how it worked. But you never turned with it. So it was never a problem."
"But what about keeping your balance?"
"It took care of that too. Really all your had to do was stand still and tilt side to side to turn it."
"Well... Maybe I might try it sometime..." She smiles a little shyly.
"Well alright, Now where can I find some Armos..."
"Well the only living ones we found was in the Temple Of Time."
"Yeah but going all the back there would be a chore..." He sighs and grumbles.
"Well it all the way back in Ordon... So you would be right."
"Wonder if I could go bust up those owl statues..."
"Oh yeah! That'd make since. They should have some on them right?"
"It would make sense to me anyway." He shrugs.
"You're not often wrong Link." She smiles a little as he returns a slight chuckle.
"Now you know that ain't the truth." He lets out a soft chuckle.
"Wasn't there one near the east exit on that lookout above the lake?"
"Yeah actually. We'll go there and then down into the lake."
"Sounds like a plan?" Midna looks up into the sky above Castle Town as they near the exit.
"Don't worry. We can at least take care of the robot. Then we should camp." She nods in response to him as they pass through the stout metal doors.
"Just to the right?" She points to the right down the field.
"Mhm. It was like an old ruined theater or something."
"Oh yeah! When we collected all that stuff for him to unlock the sky cannon right?"
"You'd be correct." He chuckles and smiles as their feet leave the stone surface of Castle Town.
"Ah... I always missed the feeling of grass while I was in the Twilight Palace." She smiles and giggles a little.
"Well I can imagine why. I remember the Twilight realm always having this sorta chill to it."
"Well of course. It's in the shadow of this world all the time. Of course it'd be colder there."
"Yeah guess that was kinda dumb of me to mention it." He softly smiles at her.
"No worries Link." She smiles at him holding back a giggle. Link looks forwards towards the large wooden statue sitting on the ruined stones of the theater.
"Well there it is." Link points to it.
"Yeah but how are we gonna break it...?" She stares it and tilts her head.
"Well... I'd have used my Ball and Chain... But that things way to heavy to haul around. Well maybe not now." He raises his hands bearing the gauntlets.
"Well we didn't bring it did we..."
"No we did not actually..."
"Well what if you picked it up and tossed it?"
"Well I mean. It still looks pretty heavy even for me now." He shrugs.
"Well then what do you propose?"
"Simple, We blast a pillar and topple it onto it and I finish smashing it."
"That's... Kinda smart actually." She nudges his side as he chuckles.
"Well since we need to prep we'll just do it tomorrow morning."
"Yeah that sounds good." She smiles looking over at the sinking sun.
"You can set up camp. I'll go gather some firewood okay?" She smiles at him and nods turning back to watch the sun slowly sink into the water of Lake Hyilia turning it a beauitful shade of orange and gold as she smiles.
"I forgot why I missed this world so much..." She smiles sitting in one of ruined chairs waiting for Link to return.
(Well here's hoping to a more creative year coming up. I'm pretty sure i'll have a chapter out before 2019. But if not I hope you all have a happy new year and that you'll continue to support my slow as heck updates. Thanks again for all the support. It means more then you all know. {=^.^=} For-Shovelry out.)
