Groaning she banged her head against the desk, nothing was going to work. The way she wanted it to. Grimm placed a mug of coffee before her, petting her on the head before he sat down next to her.
"Still nothing?" He asked, sipping his own coffee. She just groaned, it was this wailing moan really and it just kept going for a good three minutes.
"The only way this will work is if we move into your father's house," she muttered, face still planted against the desk.
"We could do that, dad certainly wouldn't be against it." Tilting her head she fixed one green eye on his face, surprised he would even agree to that. He raised a brow at her skepticism.
"What?" He asked.
"It took a good half hour to convince you to accept the first plan," she said, lifting her head off the desk, sticky note stuck to the side of her face. Grimmjow reached over to pull it off, brushing hair out of her face as he did. Scowling a bit he nodded, her plans were a bit ridiculous but they worked in the end.
"And I don't want to hurt you. This requires me to seduce Aizen and that means fighting with you. I don't want that," she murmured grabbing his hand. Grimm sighed pulling her onto his lap, kissing her cheek.
"It's okay precious I knew ya don't mean any of it, if it means peace of mind fer ya I'm open to just about everything." Ichigo shifted in his lap to look at him.
"Even if it means I have to kiss Aizen?" She asked, watching him pale a little. His blue eyes went hard, a look of anger taking over his features for only a second.
"If that's the way it's gotta be then there's nothing I can do about it. Let's get some sleep Shiro's coming round fer lunch to show off her little one." Ichigo let herself be pulled up from the chair and sort of carried to the bedroom. Her heart felt like a lump of lead in her chest, but that didn't compare to the feeling of what felt like her stomach being ripped out. It hurt physically to think about cheating on Grimmjow, even if was for the sake of things returning to the way they once were. There was never a good reason to cheat on the one you loved.
"Stop dwelling on it, things will work out in the end."
Shiro was absolutely glowing when she stepped through the front door, white hair swept in to a messy bun, wearing jeans and a shirt that was covered in various food and vomit stains, her skin seemed paler than normal and dark circles ringed her eyes but she looked happy. Till she broke down crying.
"Sunako how did you deal with this?" She asked, shrieking throwing her arms around her and sinking to the ground. Gin rolled his eyes and sat down on the couch with the baby in his arms asleep. Ichigo pulled Shiro to her feet, questioning look on her face.
"What's wrong Shiro?" She asked, her baby was sleeping and Gin seemed to be getting the hang of looking after her pretty quickly.
"It's a little monster not a baby, I can't do anything right the second I pick her up she starts to scream and cry or better yet crap herself. It's like she hates me, I mean it Sunako Chiyuki hates me and she isn't more than a week old." It was time to bring out the rum, Shiro looked utterly pathetic right now. Sighing Ichigo threw Shiro over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carried her to the kitchen. She knew where Grimmjow's secret stash of rum was.
"Sit. Be grateful you have Gin with you Shi," she said, slamming down a glass of straight rum in front of her, "I had to raise Ushio alone for the first six months while I was stuck in Iraq. It was the worst six months of my life. Ushio was a very quiet baby, she didn't cry when she was born and I thought it was a still birth at first but then the army man handed her over and said she was fine. I cried instead. She didn't wake up in the night from all the gun fire, didn't even flinch when I had to fire a gun while carrying her. For six months I thought she was deaf or that maybe something was wrong and there was no doctor where I was stationed. There were times where I thought she had died in the middle of the night because she didn't cry out." Shiro looked at her horrified by her story. For the first time since Chiyuki was born she was glad that she cried all the time. She couldn't even imagine going through what Sunako had to go through. Ichigo poured herself a glass of rum before placing the bottle back in the vase of fake flowers. It still scared her a little when she thought back to the first six months of Ushio's life.
"So the rumours about you giving birth in Iraq during gun fire were true then?" Grimm asked, this was the first he had ever heard about Ushio's birth as well. Ichigo nodded grabbing the shoulder that had been shot in the middle of that mess. It was times like these that she wished for a normal life but then she wouldn't have any wild outrages stories to tell her grandchildren. Downing the rum she slid off the stool, walking over to Gin to see the baby.
"Hello Chiyuki," she whispered, offering up a finger to the little girl who had just woken up.
"Want ta 'old her?" Gin asked, Ichigo bit her lip but nodded. This wasn't her baby, she couldn't drop this one and get away with it. Gin carefully handed her over, but the second his hands were gone Chiyuki started screaming. Ichigo frowned for a second, shaking her head at Gin when he went to take her back. That wouldn't help the current situation at all. Slowly she stood, murmuring to the screaming infant the entire time. Ichigo started to pace in hopes it would help a little but when it didn't she started to sing the lullaby she used to sing for Ushio. Everyone stared at her in shock, especially Shiro, which was only because Chiyuki had stopped crying. Still singing she quickly walked up to Shiro, sliding Chiyuki into her arms. The pair just stared at each other, it was probably the first time Shiro had held her daughter without her crying. It was a beautiful moment.
"GET DOWN!" Ichigo reacted instantly, pulling Shiro behind the kitchen bench with her, Grimm already down there. The glass of the window shattered a second later as bullets hit the wall above the sink.
"Yo Gin you holding up?" Ichigo asked, trying to glance around the corner but it was still raining bullets.
"Yeah, 'm good." He sounded fine.
"Grimm take this and stay with Shiro," she ordered handing Grimmjow her glock, its partner in her hand. Ichigo kissed him quickly before she stood to return fire. Whoever it was they were shooting from the apartment across the street, without a second thought she shot back, hitting on of the men in the hand. 'One down two to go,' she thought, pulling the trigger again. Ichigo took the other two out with fatal wounds in the blink of an eye, adrenaline coursing through her vein so fast she didn't even know a bullet had grazed her till Grimmjow pressed a tea-towel to her side.
"Everyone okay?" She asked, tying a towel around her waist to hold the other in place. Gin yelled out a yes, the two behind her nodding. Grimmjow placed a hand on her shoulder, pulling her into a tight hug. Ichigo wrapped her arms around him, sighing.
"I'm so glad Ushio isn't here," she murmured, all the tension leaving her body at once. Another sigh escaped her lips.
"Looks like it's gonna be a day spent in the hospital."
