I don't own The Legend of Zelda

He was the fastest opponent Link had ever seen. Dark avoided most of his attacks through either jumping out of the way or simply copying them at the exact same time, truly living up to his shadowy appearance. It was rapidly getting tiring for the hero. Dark didn't seem to feel weary at all. In fact he grinned as if he was enjoying every moment, his teeth seeming as sharp as his blade.

The air was heavy with the smell of blood and sweat. Dark's wounds oozed a sinister black instead of the expected red. This merely added to his hellish nature. Soon the ground around them was splattered with tiny droplets of black and red, like some kind of morbid decoration.

They were too evenly matched, at times predicting the other's next move with well timed precision. Link knew that it would be all over if he got too tired. He frowned and pressed on with determination.

The shadow started taunting him as he dodged attacks. "Why are you here hero? Is it for the demon?"

Link stopped and stared, shocked. Dark's blade pierced Link's arm as he grunted in pain.

"How did you know that?" He spat out through gritted teeth, shield raised to block a second attack. He swung his sword wildly.

Dark jumped back, missing the blade easily. He laughed. "I can see the shadows in your heart, hero. In your mind. He's affected you badly."

Link lashed out again, but Dark parried with little effort. Their swords clashed with a clang.

Link wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up. Blood dripped down his clothes. His tunic was torn and his right arm could barely hold his shield. His breathing was heavy as lead.

Dark slashed at him again and again. Link couldn't do this anymore. It took everything he had to block the attacks.

Dark jumped upon Link's sword and leaned his face close to the hero's. His breath was as cold as ice and stank of death and despair.

"Poor hero. You think he loves you. Look at you, like a fond puppy fawning all over his master. You'd do anything for him, wouldn't you? Would you let him kill you, Skychild?" He whispered.

That last word was too much for the hero's heart to handle. It was too painful that word. Skychild. It was more than just a word, it was Ghirahim's. And Dark knew, he felt certain about how that nickname would threaten to tear Link's heart in two.

Link forced Dark away as the shadow tried ton backflip off the sword. Dark lost his balance for a moment and stumbled as he hit the ground, barely landing on his feet. That moment was enough to seal his fate.

"JUST SHUT UP!" Link howled as he used the last of his strength and pushed his sword deep into Dark's heart, before the other could react. A black liquid poured from his chest, dripping thickly onto the hero's sword. For a moment that horrible smile passed over the shadow's face.

"Y...you can't...can't kill the...d...darkness within...within you Link." And then he was gone in a swirl of black.

Link sank down to the ground, his sword and shield falling to his side with a clatter. He put a hand over his injured arm and winced.

"It's ok, it's over now." He muttered to himself, yet it didn't feel that way. The shadow's words lingered and Link felt that this wasn't the end of Dark's torment.

He was sure that the shadow had been wrong. He must be. Wasn't he? Still he found himself repeating Dark's question over and over in his mind. Did Ghirahim love him or was he using him? Would he let Ghirahim kill him?

If he was honest, in his heart of hearts he knew that he would. And that scared him.

Author's note: I'm sorry that this isn't that great, I'm not very used to writing fight scenes. I tried my best.
