A/N: Hello! It's been almost ten years since I've touched this story. Honestly it's been many years since I've even been on this website but something in me told me to come on it again. As I was looking through the stories I have left alive, I came across this one and noticed/remembered everyone that follows it. So I reread it, remembered where I was going with it and decided to test the waters and update it. I don't even know if any of you still go on fanfiction and if you get notified about this story or what. But here it goes. I hope there's still some of you. I still can't believe I had so many people even follow this story with how bad my writing was. I have improved but I wouldn't say I'm the best. Anyways here goes nothing.

Chapter 27: Runaway Love

After breakfast with Bella and a talk with my mother I knew what was needed to be done. I'm the cause of all this fighting so the only thing I can do is leave and hope it goes away. It may not be the best decision but it's the most logical option I could think of. The only downside is telling Jacob that I need to leave, maybe he will go with me, if not, I'm still leaving. Nothing is going to get solved if I stay.

Kelsey was making her famous beef stew when I decided to leave my room after hours of debating how I'd explain my situation. I can't tell her what Jacob and Edward really are but I can make up a lie that will convince her to let me leave.

I walked up to the counter taking a seat on the stool. Kelsey smiled as she hummed one of her favorite songs, stirring the crock pot full of delicious beef. Her brown hair was pulled into a messy bun matching her purple pajamas that she hasn't changed out of.

"Mom," I started keeping my gaze on the tanned countertop. "Can we talk for a minute?"

She put the wooden spoon on the stove, closing the top of the crock pot to let it simmer. "What is it honey?" The concern in her voice made me more nervous.

I took a deep breath. "You know how Edward and Jacob don't get along right?" She nodded. "Well things have gotten worse and I think I'm at fault for it all."

Kelsey grabbed my hands from across the counter. "Don't say that. I doubt it's your fault."

"Well it might be and the only way to make it better is if I go away for a while. Maybe take a month off of school and let things die down." I glanced at her, noticing her face scrunch up as she thought about what I said. "I know it's asking a lot. I've already taken a vacation in California. And you have basically let me do whatever I wanted since moving to Forks, which I appreciate so much. I just can't be around all this fighting anymore. It's draining my soul." Tears started to well up in my blue eyes.

"Baby." She wiped the few tears that fell from my face. "Tell me what's really going on."

"Promise not to freak out?"

"When have I ever freaked out? Remember I'm a cool mom." She joked. I laughed, it felt good to laugh.

"Okay, here it goes."

For the next hour I told my mother everything. She only listened, not interrupting one bit. I left out the werewolf/vampire part and just explained how Edward wants to fight him because Jacob used to love Bella and he still isn't over it. She seemed to understand by the way she nodded throughout the story.

"Well." My mother began, I could tell she was hesitant about the whole thing. "I can see why you want to get away but do you really think that's the best option?"

I nodded. "Yes. I'm only asking to be gone for a month. I feel like I'm losing myself and Jacob. All he cares about is tearing Edward to pieces."

"If I say yes, where are you going to go? I don't want you staying by yourself. Figure that part out and I'll let you know."

I jumped from my seat and pulled her into a hug. Even though it wasn't a yes, it was a start. "Okay! I'm going to Jacobs to talk to him. I'll be back tonight for dinner. There's no way I'm missing out on that stew."

"Okay, be careful!" She kissed the top of my head and continued to her cooking.

I grabbed my pink hoodie hanging from the blue couch and rushed to the challenger. The sooner I explain my plan to Jacob the faster we can get out of here, or the faster I can get out. I'm not going to tell Bella either. The less she knew, the less Edward would know.

There were a few cars in Jacob's parking lot when I pulled up. I recognized Sam's car but not the others. I hope this wasn't a bad time to talk. Maybe I should have called before showing up. Especially since we have important matters to discuss.

I knocked a few times on the door, hoping I'm not interrupting anything important. An elderly man I have never seen before answered the door. His white hair was in a braid that fell to his waist. I've never seen such long hair on an old man before.

"Hi, I'm looking for Jacob." I said looking into the man's grey eyes. He continued to eye me up and down, almost like he was trying to read my soul.

Jacob popped in the doorway hearing my voice. "Avril, I didn't know you were coming by." He looked at the older gentleman. "Grandpa step aside." He grumbled under his breath and moved towards the living room where everyone else sat. "Come on in."

I stood on the step. "Um actually I need to talk to you in private. If this is a bad time I'll head back home." The concern in my voice worried him.

"Is everything okay?" He closed the door behind him.

"No, I mean yeah." I stuttered not knowing how to explain the situation. "Is this a bad time?"

"Not at all. My family is just here because they heard about Edward and I's fight and want to make sure everything is okay."

Of course his family has heard about it. It's like all the werewolves and vampires are coming to Forks to prepare for the worst. "If you have a minute I'd love to talk to you in the garage."

"Of course, let me tell them I'll be right back. Meet me over there." He kissed my forehead and headed back inside.

Usually I take a seat inside the rabbit, but today I leaned against the hood of the car. A red toolbox with the drawers opened caught my eye. As I waited for Jacob to come back I rummaged through the drawers, picking up tools I've never seen before. It always amazed me on how much Jacob knew about fixing cars. I toyed with a ratchet, spinning the circle part over and over again. It was mesmerizing and a good way to distract myself.

Jacob stood in the distance watching as I played with the tools, an amusing smile across his face. He leaned against the opening of the garage taking in the scene. I dropped a tool I didn't recognize, the noise of steel against cement so loud I thought I broke it. Jacob's laughter caught me off guard, scaring me half to death. I jumped and bumped into the rabbit, almost falling over.

"You're a little jumpy aren't you?" He asked picking up the tool that fell.

"I didn't hear you. You're lucky I didn't throw this-" I pointed to the tool in his hand before he put it back in its place. "-at you."

He kissed the top of my head. "I would have jumped out the way." He pulled me close to him, resting his hands against my butt. "What do you need to talk about?"

I took in a deep breath. I rehearsed over and over again what I was going to say but that still didn't help now that I am in front of him. "You know I love you with all my heart, right?" I started.

Jacob raised his eyebrow in suspicion. "Yeah, where are you going with this Avril?" His hands dropped from my body and I took a step back.

"You know how much my beliefs mean to me. My heart hurts watching you and Edward fight over something I started. I can't stand it anymore. It's taking its toll on me." Jacob didn't say anything, he kept his curiously saddened eyes on me. It was so hard to look at him. "I need to get away from here. I need to go somewhere far away from Forks, from vampires, and from werewolves. I can't keep doing this anymore Jacob."

"Are you breaking up with me?" He asked, I could see the tears forming in his brown eyes.

"No!" I exclaimed.

"Then what?" He flailed his arms around.

"I'm going to leave for a little bit. I'm not sure how long yet. But long enough for all this to end. I refuse to be around it any longer. I'm done."

Jacob didn't say anything at first. We just stared at each other in silence before he spoke. "Where are you going to go? Who's going with you?"

I grabbed his hands. "I want you to go with me. And it will be so far away it will either take hours or days to come find us. And I don't want anyone to know. You can't tell anyone in your pack and I won't be talking to Bella either."

"It sounds like you want to run away."

"Essentially yeah, running away from our problems. Nothing is going to solve you and Edward's fighting. I mean you have wolves from all over showing up and Edward has vampires from all over coming to his house. This is going farther than it should have. Either you come with me or stay and deal with this yourself." I crossed my arms over my chest.

Jacob didn't seem to be persuaded by my idea. He ran his fingers through his hair, pacing back and forth in the garage. A few minutes went by and he still had nothing to say. He kept whispering to himself, weighing out his options. I tried to listen closely to hear his mumbles but he was so quiet.

I took a seat on the hood of the rabbit waiting impatiently for Jacob to talk to me again. He finally looked at me after ten minutes, his face not reassuring. He walked in front of me, placing his hands on my thighs.

"Okay Avril, I'm in." He let out a breath I didn't know he was holding in. "But we have to at least talk to my dad about it. If I just go missing, he will send the whole pack after me."

I smiled pulling him closer to me. "That's fine. My mother will know as well. Just no one else."

"Where are we staying?"

"That I haven't figured out yet. My mother told me I had to ask you to come with or find an adult to go."

"You haven't planned any of this out?" He asked in disbelief.

I grabbed both his hands giving them a reassuring squeeze. "I have a few places-" Jacob held up his hand to stop me from talking.

He tilted his head to the side, just like a dog does when they hear a funny sound. I opened my mouth to say something but again he stopped me from making any noise. There's nothing out here that could harm us, especially with all the wolves in his house right now.

A few twigs snapped and Sam joined us in the little garage. Jacob was surprised to see him. They hugged each other before Sam addressed us.

"I don't mean to be rude but I overheard your conversation." Sam said putting his hands in his jean pockets. I could tell he was a little uncomfortable.

Jacob spoke first. "It's okay, I'm sure my father would tell you of my absence anyways."

I looked between the two boys, wondering if they even knew I was still sitting here. They were so tranced in on each other.

"What do you think though?" Jacob asked his pack leader.

"Well." He ran his hands through his black hair. "I don't think it's smart. But it's not a bad idea. Maybe Edward will drop this fight if you just went away. It seems to only get worse when the two of you are around each other."

"You're not concerned about the other vampires that have started gathering at the Cullen house?"

Sam laughed. "No. They just want to see Edward fight a wolf."

I jumped off the car, stomping my feet as I did so. The boys looked over as I crossed my arms over my chest. Did they forget I was here or what. "Are you going to let Jacob come with me then?"

"Yes." Sam placed his hands on my shoulder and Jacobs. "I know he will be in good hands with you. Just remember to keep me updated on everything."

"Great, now we just need to find a place to hide out for a while." Jacob and I grinned at each other. I can't believe we are going to be living together for a couple weeks while all this mess blows over. I am the luckiest girl in the world.

Jacob and I sat in my living room as Billy and my mother talked about the rules and what they expect while we are gone. We informed both of our schools of our absence and were instructed to do online schooling while we are gone. Our teachers will email us every day and we have to turn in homework every day as well. Once a week we will have a video conference with our teachers to make sure we understand the lessons. It seemed like more work than actually attending school.

Billy and Kelsey made us promise to call the both of them every day to make sure we are safe and have stayed out of trouble. Jacob has to stay in contact with Sam incase anything happens between vampires and werewolves while we are gone. I cannot talk to Bella or Edward while we are away. I am not to let them know where we are staying or for how long.

These are the terms we have to agree with otherwise we are not allowed to go. It was all manageable but our parents are acting like we can't handle it. I mean I'm eighteen, I'm technically an adult. And Jacob may be sixteen but he is a werewolf. There really isn't anything he can't handle.

"Here are the directions, if you think you might be lost, call me. After all it is my cabin." Billy said handing Jacob the paper with the directions. Jacob tucked it in his jeans pocket.

"Please let Jacob drive Avril. I don't want you speeding or racing. I know how you are in that car." Kelsey said sternly, her arms crossed.

I let out a groan. "Ugh, mom. I'm not that stupid. That's in the past." Jacob nudged me with his elbow knowing full well I was lying.

Billy held out his arms to get a hug from the two of us. We stood up and took turns as he embraced us both. "I'm going to miss you two."

"I'll miss you too dad." Jacob kissed the top of his head.

Kelsey hugged us next, squeezing us a little too tightly. Tears started to fall from her eyes. "Oh my little love bug. Text me during your drive and call me as soon as you get to the cabin."

I pulled myself away from her, adjusting the pink hoodie I adorned. "Mom, it's going to be okay. I will call you as soon as we get there. It's a long drive, I'll probably nap."

"Okay, I love you so much."

Jacob grabbed our bags as I pocketed the cell phone Billy and Kelsey bought us. Besides the two of them Sam was the only other person to have the number. We had to keep our cellphones with them incase Edward tried to find us.

"Bye dad, love you." Jacob called over his shoulder as we made our way out the door.

"Bye son." Was the last we heard as we loaded the trunk with our suitcases and slammed the doors of the challenger shut.

I let out a sigh, feeling a bit more relaxed now that we are on our way. Jacob squeezed my knee and started up the car.

"Are you ready for this?" Jacob asked kissing me on the lips before backing out the driveway.

"More than you know." I replied sinking back into my seat.

And just like that we were off to White Salmon, Washington to the cabin Billy has had for as long as Jacob could remember. I couldn't wait to have Jacob all to myself for the next coming weeks. Nothing could go wrong, right?
