'And Stacy wants us to be councillors? For real?'

Catarina and Delsin were sat having their dinner shortly after Delsin got back from running errands in town. Cat had been filling him in on the conversation she had with Stacy earlier on and had read him everything that was in the e-mail she had been sent.

'So it'll be three weeks in total, starting the week after the summer holidays start. No definite number on how many kids there are gonna be but there will be plenty of staff.'

'I still can't believe they want us to help.'

'That's what I said.'

Caterina gathered up the plates after she and Delsin finished their dinner and put them straight in to the dishwasher along with all the pots and pans she had used for cooking. She shut the door on the machine and left it, deciding to switch it on later as there would undoubtedly be more things to put in. She then had a dig around in her handbag which was on the kitchen counter for her diary. Once a week, Cat and Delsin would go through all the things they had to do. And they did have a lot to do now as the snow had been gone for a while.

Cat made herself comfortable on the sofa next to Delsin the started to flick through the pages of her diary.

'Ooh remember you have a dental check-up at three o'clock on Thursday next week.' Catarina said to Delsin. She had to grin at the face he made once she reminded him; he wasn't a fan of the dentist.

'Don't we have that gallery opening too?' Delsin enquired, to which Cat made a face in reply.

'Ah shit I forgot about that.' She sighed as she flicked through the pages in her diary. 'It's on Sunday at half seven.'

'Anything else this week?'

'That's it, unless something comes up.'

Cat and Delsin spent most of the evening watching television and eating snacks. They had spent quite a while chatting about what had been on the news earlier; along with the quietness of the Human's First group which was slightly worrying. Human's First had a habit of releasing videos of statements, threats and a weird sort of forewarning of their next attack. But there had been nothing from them for quite a while now. It was way too quiet.

Catarina though wanting to get away from depressing subject decided to get off the couch to go change in to her pj's then have a rummage around in one of the kitchen drawers when she got back downstairs. She returned to the couch and dropped a small bottle in to Delsin's lap before she sat back down. He picked up the bottle and shook it a few times as Cat stretched her bare feet over and placed them on Delsin's leg. She wanted him to paint her toenails for her to which he obliged. Delsin thought it was a bit strange, but he did like painting Cat's toenails for her. At least now he was getting better at it and managed to keep the bright red nail polish on her actual nails instead of everywhere else.

Delsin looked up after finishing Cat's nails to find her slouched back in to the sofa fast asleep. She had been exhausted recently, especially with the weather warming up which she didn't like much. The heat really took it out of her. Delsin had noticed that she had been sat in front of the freezer a few times during the day these past few weeks. He did wonder why she didn't switch to another one of her powers if it made it easier on her but even if she did switch to another; she would still complain about the heat and find somewhere cool. Delsin thought that maybe even using another power never changed the fact that she was always cold and preferred it. Cryokinesis was her thing after all.

He carefully reached over and laid his hand gently on Cat's forehead. She felt quite warm which wasn't like her at all. He figured that she was possibly coming down with something. It had its advantages being a Conduit at times with the likes of the fast healing when they were injured, but even then they could still get colds and fall sick from time to time. Delsin thought that Cat might be suffering from hay fever or maybe she had a cold because her body didn't like the now warmer weather. He couldn't figure it out.

Delsin decided to take her upstairs and put her in bed. He carefully picked her up and swiftly carried her up stairs. He got about halfway up when he noticed Caterina opened her eyes and groggily looked up at him.

'Did I fall, asleep?' Cat questioned Delsin. He nodded in reply.

'A little while ago. Do you feel okay? I think you might have a fever or something your skin's really warm.'

'I feel warm and, kinda sweaty.' Catarina yawned.

Delsin reached their bedroom and slowly perched Cat on the bed. She rubbed her eyes a few times before she yawned again and stretched out on the bed.

'I'll finish tidying up downstairs. Do you want me to bring you up some ice?' Delsin asked Cat. She stared up at him and nodded a few times. She really wasn't well at all. Delsin looked at Cat with concern; she had a funny pinkish-red almost flushed looking colour to her skin which was weird for her as her skin had more of a blue tinge.

Delsin left and made his way back downstairs. He quickly gathered up some dishes and cups they had used earlier and put them in the dishwasher. After turning on the dishwasher, he quickly gave the kitchen worktops and the table a wipe down. Delsin grabbed a clean pint glass out of the cupboard and filled it using the dispenser on the fridge freezer. He remembered there was a cold compress ice bag hiding in the first aid kid in the cupboard under the sink, so he dug it out and filled it with ice. After topping up the glass again, he made his way back upstairs and in to the bedroom.

'Here I brought you this too.' Delsin said to Cat as he handed her the compress bag. She instantly held it on her forehead and took a few cubes of ice from the glass Delsin was holding. Catarina sighed as she crammed the ice cubes in to her mouth. She hadn't been sick in a while, she just knew it was going to be a long, restless night.
