Again, it's been way too long since I've updated this story but I'm currently in writing fever with my other story and so I figured I'd update this one as well. I hope there are still people who read Nikita and especially Balex fanfics... Enjoy :)

Since Alex went straight into her room and closed the door behind her, Sean didn't get a chance to respond to her quite angry and annoyed statement. Neither did he get the chance to actually give her the roses he saw on the way home from the small baseball stadion, at this little floral shop that was just about to close for the day. That small bouquet was all they had left on red roses, which was the only kind Sean wanted. Giving Alex the time she needed to get changed, he put them in some water and placed them in the middle of the living room table… for now.

'What a mess I've gotten myself into… It's only been 2 days…. 2 DAYS ! and shit already hit my fan…. Great.

Whose fan but mine anyway? am I right? oh my god. Aaaaaand I'm talking to myself… in my head…. Without really talking to myself.'

"Uuurghh!" she got up from the bed she was lying on and made her way over to her closet… which wasn't fully 'stocked' yet….at all. Picking out some everyday-underwear, a shirt and some sweats she made her way to the living room where she found Sean placing the flowers on the living room table.

Trying to open up the conversation lightly, she said, walking into the room "So… what are you cooking tomorrow then ?"

"Spaghetti and Meatballs…. Figured I couldn't possibly mess that up." Looking up he flashed an innocent yet insecure smile at Alex and thought about how to start the conversation.

"I'm not good at this really… I know my answer should've been that I wasn't going to the game… but somehow I figured it'd be shit for Ryan… and I was selfish because I really wanted to go… I always loved baseball as a kid…" Alex clearly felt that he was uncomfortable talking about this. "My dad took me to one or two games back in the day." Falling silent, he looked to the ground, obviously sad.

Just like he wasn't good about apologizing, Alex wasn't good at dealing with…. This. Trying to get his mind off of the sad memories while also getting this whole situation behind her, Alex stated "Look, Sean… it's okay. Yes, I was mad… but I guess I didn't think why you'd chose to go to a baseball game rather than stay here… and to be honest… I'm glad you went. You looked quite happy when you got back. Like someone took some worries off of you and that's more important."

"No… yes… Ryan was a good buddy… but seriously I'd like to not mess this " moving a hand between them two "up, you know. I guess what I'm asking you here is if we can get a second chance?"

'Ooh man…'

Not knowing what she should respond to that… since… even IF she wanted that too, a second chance with Sean, it wouldn't be fair because of what happened during the time Sean and everyone else was out of the house… (Thinking about that brought a little smile to her face… 'good feeling that' she thought… then she remembered the stuff that happened after that and her smile was gone again) … BUT she didn't want to start something, anything but a friendship with Sean anymore. She couldn't possibly imagine getting… involved with Sean anymore…. She just looked at him with wide eyes for a moment.

"No… please don't look at me like that. You look like I'm mad for suggesting that you'd even give me another chance… Please don't Alex."

His plea made her more nervous and anxious and caused her to blink a few times while trying to collect her thoughts and form them into a sentence that was going to crush his plan.

"I don't know what to say…"

"Say that we'll try."

"No Sean. I mean I don't know what to say… that you even got the idea. And I'm really sorry… I " Trying to search for the right words, Sean cut her off with: "Oh my god, seriously? I messed it up that much already? You're not even willing to give me another chance? Wow, I proper broke something didn't I ?"

"It's not like that Sean." She thought about telling him what happened but immediately pushed the thought away because she herself didn't even know what exactly happened.

"I just think… I know… we're two totally different people and I think you'll come to see if you haven't already that we were fools for trying… (mimicking his movements from before she moved her hand between them) this to begin with."

"What do you mean? And no I haven't come to see this…. And did my actions really confuse you that much ?" Sean asked looking down, sad again.

"No, it's not just about that… it's everything… I don't think I'm up for anything like a relationship at the moment… we got too much going on with Amanda and stuff… I only noticed too late and I'm really sorry Sean… I didn't want to lead you on… I'm sorry if I hurt you."

Alex wanted to leave this room as fast as she possibly could. She hated situations like this. A fight… fine, bring it on… even just a verbal fight… that was fine. Both parties were pissed at each other… but a conversation where both people don't agree… and the topic being a possible relationship…. Please, Ground… suck me up!

"So you noticed (he looked down at his watch) like a good 4 hours ago that this wasn't happening and I'm basically making a fool out of myself, trying to get you to give us another chance,… begging the woman at the flower shop not to close up and just pleaaase sell me the last bouquet of red roses…. All for nothing?"

'now I got a fight…. Gee thanks.'

"Listen… it was really kind of you and I appreciate it… but yes I've come to think we should just leave it at a failed try. I'm sorry. And I'm going now before this turns into a fight."

"Wow. So you're just leaving ?"

"I'm getting some rest… you should too. Sorry again"

And with that, she made her way to her room thinking 'women do apologize quite a lot… while not even doing something wrong… man, we're way to nice huh ?!'

Shutting out all of her thoughts she went to sleep in about 10 minutes that night.

Alex woke up in the middle of the night it seemed, she turned around to look at her alarm clock next to her and her suspicions were confirmed. 2:30. Her mouth was feeling dry so she got up for a drink. She opened her door, looked down the hallway and had a weird feeling in her gut that told her she should be going down that exact hallway, all the way to the end and knock on his door. Nope. You wanted a drink. She turned on her heel and went to the kitchen.

She opened up the fridge and immediately saw a can of red bull that reminded her of a certain someone. She couldn't wish the thought away of wanting the talk that he asked for. And she herself wanted to clear up a few things of her own. She took the cold water out of the fridge, poured herself a glass and relished in the feeling of the cold liquid running down her throat.

She had another glass before making her way back to her room. Reaching it she questioned it again, whether she should go to him or not and decided she was going to see if he was still awake and then decide.

Alex went down the hallway, stopping in front of the last door and listened if Birkhoff was still awake. She was just about to head back to her room because she didn't hear anything but was startled by some curse words and a "sorry man. Today is not my day. I'm going to bed." Before she could think of a decision, she lost her balance ever so slightly and bumped into the door softly. Maybe he wouldn't have heard but she wasn't about to shy out of this so she hovered her fist over the door, about to knock when Birkhoff opened it.

Surprised to see her, his eyes widened and before he could ask her what she wanted she talked "Ehm... I didn't know if you were still awake...I was.. you wanted to talk to me?"

Confused and a little bit angry that she only wanted to talk now, before it didn't seem like she wanted to at all-...wait maybe she's drunk or something "Did you find the vodka again?" he asked still confused and his voice was laced with hurt because he didn't expect her to come on her own account, while sober.

"No? Why? I mean... you wanted to talk... and besides, I have a question as well!" she stated getting angry at him for thinking that she had to be drunk.

"But why are you here? I mean...now?" he looked down at his watch, confirming that it was in the middle of the night.

Suddenly aware that there are other people trying to sleep and talking in the hallway would possibly wake some of them up he opened the door further for her to come in.

She took the invitation and went into his room when he closed the door behind them.

"Does it matter? If you want to go to bed then that's fine, I'll leave..." she made a step toward to door again but Birkhoff cut her off "No, it's fine. You know I go to bed late, what's another hour or two?!" trying to lighten the mood.

"What did you wanna talk about then ?" Is she being serious? "Well..." He didn't know how to start this conversation and quite frankly he was mad at her for basically flipping him off and now for making it seem like nothing happened which they should talk about.

"...guess it doesn't matter now." No, he would not put himself in the line of fire.

Alex looked up at him, not believing that he was just going to drop it after she already made her way over here. "Seriously? Now you don't have anything to say anymore? Before you were totally set on having to talk to me."

Birkhoff was stepping away from her, walking further into his room and making his way towards the bed so he could sit on the end of it. "Yeah but you totally gave me the cold shoulder and talked to Sean. So...yeah I got the message." He sat down and diverted his gaze.

Alex couldn't believe her ears and crossed her arms "So you're jealous now? What the fuck?"

Now it was Birkhoff's time to not believe what the other was saying "What? Don't talk to me like I'm a child. I'm not jealous, Alex. I'm just perfectly aware of what's happening. And it's fine. It really is."

Something in his voice made it seem like it totally wasn't and she picked up on that, but nope! She was pissed that he didn't pick up on her tone towards Sean and well, everything else. "Oh yeah? And what is happening, Birkhoff?"

He looked up at her, seeing that she was still standing there with her arms crossed and she could probably kill someone with her angry eyes. "Oh, c'mon. I'm not gonna spell it out for you. I get that this..." he moved a finger between them two and continued "is never gonna happen."

And another thought crossed him since he was angry now he should get it out and hopefully get an answer from her "Besides, I don't even know what the fuck I did wrong for you to even give me the cold shoulder? I didn't even brag about me winning, consider yourself welcome."

Now furious, Alex answered "Welcome? That's the fucking reason why I'm mad at you!" She basically screamed the end of that after realizing that it's still the middle of the night and people weren't supposed to wake up.

"What? I don't get it." He answered her truthfully

"And that's the other reason."

"Oh, so now there's two reasons?" Fucking women. So complicated

"Yes. I have no clue why you would even tell them I won the fight" Because I didn't, which is still...shocking

With a frustrated sigh, Birkhoff let himself fall onto his bed before answering "To be honest, I didn't think much about it, Alex. I just didn't want you to feel awkward."

Her heart fell a little at the sincerity but her anger hasn't quite left her yet "Will you let me make that choice for myself next time?"

Birkhoff made a sudden movement and propped himself up on his elbows, looking at her with a trademarked smirk (even if it was just for winding her up and discarding the heavy air around them) "Next time?" his eyes widened, questioning her.

She felt a smile creep up but she wasn't done yet "About that. There's a reason why I went to speak to Sean first, you know."

She caught him off guard now "I didn't think it'd be fair to let him think there was something between us whereas I was frenching you in the meantime."

He didn't think about that possibility. "I guess that means you did enjoy yourself?"

Of course, he was his sarcastic self but there was also some actual curiosity in his voice, which meant he still wasn't sure if she did or if she was just caught in the moment. Very long moments they were

All her anger towards him left her in that moment because she could see that she had hurt him, she made him feel like she didn't enjoy it when she was quite certain that he should have known, should have felt that she liked making out with him.

She crossed the space between them and sat on his bed next to him when she felt him move away from her a little, unsure of what she was going to do. "Seymour-" she was abruptly cut off by him again "Oh no. Don't!" His voice now filled with pain and anger when he moved off his own bed to stand in front of her "You do not get to do that whenever you decide to want to make me squirm." He said pointedly.

Hot. Very hot. And.. did he just... Alex couldn't help the little giggle that escaped her.

"Seymour, I only called you by your last name because I was mad at you."

Nodding he tried to wrap his head around that statement and sat down next to her. "Do you really have to ask though?" Alex asked leaning into his personal space with a glimmer in her eye, teasing him.

He didn't move and he was adamant not to so she chose to make him believe when she quickly closed the space between them and kissed him on his plush lips. It was just a chaste kiss, he couldn't even move against her lips, that's how quickly she retrieved but only mere inches so she could look into those oceans that were his eyes.

"I guess that's a yes?" still turning that statement into a question because he still couldn't believe that the beauty in front of him chose to kiss him instead of the hot guy around the corner.

"Seriously? You still can't tell? Guess, I'll have to make it more obvious then." She said and pressed him swiftly onto the bed with her hand on his chest.

Birkhoff quickly came back out of what he thought was a dream and came back to himself, his flirty, teasing, smug self.

"I should've doubted your intentions sooner." And there was the flicker she wanted to see in his eyes. Moving on top of him and positioning her legs on either side of him she hovered above him and slowly lowered her head down to bring her lips to his but stopped just before. As if on cue, and finally back to his confident self he moved both hands to her head and smashed their lips together.

Alex moaned and opened her mouth to invite his tongue, which he gladly obliged.

He moved his fingers down her neck, teasing her with tickling touches. Soon he found her shoulder and ran his hand down her back till he found the hem of her shirt. Making her gasp in response to him sliding his hand underneath it, just like a couple of hours before. Only they were interrupted then. He took Alex distracted state to turn her swiftly on her backside.

She made an 'Oh' sound, clearly not expecting the 'turn' of events, which was music to his ears. He pulled away from the kiss, giving both of them some time to catch their breaths when he looked mischievously down at her, hand moving to her front and slowly making it's way from her bellybutton upwards. Alex arched her back unconsciously while moaning for his touch.

Birkhoff was very much enjoying her reaction towards him and he couldn't keep his lips any longer from hers so he closed the distance again, kissing her roughly.

They both groaned with pleasure into the kiss, loving the rough, messy kisses.

Alex now moved one hand to his back and the other to the back of his head, turning it to the side so she could devour his neck with open-mouthed kissed and small bites.

His hand made it's way to her breast as he started to caress them ever so slightly, teasing her till she bit down harder, wishing for him to actually massage them and roll her nipple between his fingers.

She felt him smile into the crook of her own neck, slightly biting her as well when at the same time he slid his thumb over her nipple. She moaned against his neck, reveling in the feeling of his clever fingers rolling over her nipple which made him groan in return at the feeling of her underneath him.

Alex was slowly collecting her thoughts again and before she was lost in them again she chose this moment to roll them over again so she was on top.

"Oh, I see how this is gonna go." Birkhoff said sarcastically, not at all minding her on top.

She pushed her upper body upward, forcing his hands to move down to her stomach again, not that the circles he drew there were less tantalizing but she was on a cheeky mission of her own.

Wiggling on her knees backwards, she now hovered over his knees looking point blankly at him when her hand moved to the hem of his shirt drawing it upwards and moving her upper body down when her face was only inches away from the bulge in his pants when she said "Now it's my turn to watch you squirm...Seymour"

His name just about rolled over her tongue which made the man in question groan in delight and buck up his hips unconsciously. Alex smiled wildly and moved her tongue over her top lip ever so slowly and lowered herself, even more, just to begin kissing the spot where his pants started which gained her another moan from the man underneath her. She enjoyed him this comfortable, yet uncomfortable...talking about the tightness in his pants that was growing even more. "You are unbelievable"

"-ly Good?" she questioned while moving up with her kisses. Her eyes were still fixed on him as she slowly dipped her tongue into his belly button and retracting it as slowly. He swallowed before answering "Evil!"

And her mischievous smile grew even larger as she moved up with her upper body stroking his bulge with her breasts. He hissed at the feeling and the show that formed before his eyes.

Suddenly both inhaled sharply, frozen in the moment as they heard the next door room's door open. They were even more caught off guard when they realized the footsteps were coming towards them. The door to his room opened and Alex quickly jumped off Birkhoff and behind his bed, laying frozen on the ground like a dead person.

Birkhoff had a quick idea and grabbed the tablet off his nightstand before the door opened and Sean made himself known.

Birkhoff 'pretended' to be caught red-handed... watching something on his tablet when Sean came in with a "What the fuck, dude? Can't you watch your porn more silently, like a normal person?"

Alex nearly started giggling at the irony of the situation but was still in shock of their nearly revealed make-out, going on sex session.

With a shrug, Birkhoff just answered "Sorry, couldn't find my headphones."

Suddenly Alex felt a rush of hurt through her body. He had to lie for her, for them... but really for her sake. It's not like he'd have a problem with everybody in the house knowing that they hook up...Well, it hasn't come to that yet but still.

She didn't want him to have to deal with those shitty comments, especially if they weren't true, although she could not get herself to reveal to Sean that it was actually her that made most of the noises, not some porn video.

"It's 3 in the morning, man. Get a fucking grip."

Amused, Birkhoff shot back "It appears I should get a lock, too."

Sean was certain Birkhoff got the message so he turned on his heel, too tired to start an argument and closed the door behind him on his way out.

Alex sat up from her hiding place as she saw Birkhoff casually propped on one elbow, leaning on one side, looking down at her. "That was close." And he was still wearing that smile like the situation didn't affect him in the slightest.

"You shouldn't have to deal with that." Birkhoff looked at the door, then back at her "What? That? It's fine."

He moved so that she could lay beside him on the bed.

She crawled onto the bed and did exactly that before stating "No, it's not."

Then she heard him saying something she thought she'd never hear from that man's mouth. "You gotta cut him some slack. The poor guy is just sad that he can't have what I'm currently very much enjoying!" He followed her body with his eyes, a stare that felt like he was undressing her without touching her.

I can play by those rules...

"Mhh...I can see that." She made the same movement as him, only to stop midway, focusing her attention on his groin.

Rolling on top of him again, he let out a moan of protest when he noticed she rolled off him again, exiting his bed. "Why...What are you doing?" he basically whined.

"I should get some sleep. As should you. Good night Seymour"

And she saw him writhe with delight as his name came over her tongue. That tongue...

With one last kiss she made her way to the door, opened it slightly, listening if there was someone there, positive that nobody was, she tiptoed back to her room.

Tell me if you liked it :)
