TWEWY: A Fall Into Honor:

This story is about how Joshua became the Composer. The story is from Joshua's point of view, and others if the story needs to. This is a prequel of the game The World Ends With You. TWEWY is made by Square Enix. This is a FAN FICTION and not the real prequel. Enjoy.

Week 1, day 5:

Chapter 19: Friable From The Darkness:

"Thou must not fade… Thy destiny weighs too greatly on thou to be erased… Yoshiya Kiryu, thou must live on… Accept the light to go back to the Underground Shibuya…"

Joshua barely heard what the person said, he felt very sleepy and wanted to stay where he was.

He felt as though he had no problems and that he had nothing to be worried about. Ahead a cobalt shimmer materialized and Joshua felt his eyes hurt from just looking at it.

"I don't want to…" groaned Joshua as he tried to block the light by covering his eyes with his faded hands.

"This is no time to decline… Thou hast only a few moments to go back or thou will fade into the darkness of erasure…"

That voice was starting to anger Joshua. He felt so desolate and wanted to stay here forever. He didn't care about the game anymore.

"Joshua! Don't go towards the light!"

Joshua felt the darkness tug at his body, he wondered why Rei wanted him not to go into the light.

Wouldn't the light bring him back to the UG?

Only after a few moments he heard her again "Don't fall into the darkness!"

"Mate, you inspire me. Despite being so foolish at times, you are sly and strong. Stay with us!"

"Josh…"

Once again he felt doleful from just hearing his half brother's familiar accented voice. He couldn't stand being back in the UG to face the challenge that had grasped Ayumu, how could he help him? Joshua had no idea…

"A entry fee allows a player to play the game, it takes what the player values the most, it can only be won back if you win the Reaper's Game."

'Win the Reaper's Game?' pondered Joshua as his eyes dimly sparkled.

A bright flash crossed Joshua's vision and the cobalt light slowly began to wane.

"No! Don't go away!" with the last strength he had to muster he trudged through the thick darkness around him, he felt his fading legs catching the thick darkness and it was making him barely move.

He wasn't even halfway there, dread started to grow in him.

After what seemed like the light was nearly gone he extended his hand out towards it urgently, then suddenly his almost entirely erased body went from faded to visible. And a pure white light enveloped around his body before cobalt light poured into the rest of his vision.

In half a trice he heard voices around him "Al...k! Yo…ya! Jo…a!"

Then suddenly Joshua jerked up with widened eyes and winced at how bright his environs were.

"Aleck!" Joshua wasn't ready when his air got cut off and he knocked forcefully down, he half closed his eyes and dully set his sights up where he lay at the three people towering over him.

"Mate, what in right mind were you doing?" growled Izo as is maroon eyes blazed from behind his small oval glasses, Joshua suddenly realized that Izo was clasping his neck ready to strangle him from how close he was to his body.

Again Joshua felt desolate wave over his body as he spoke "Erasing… myself…"

Pain shot his face as Rei slapped him "What!? You were doing suicide!"

"I don't think it's suicide if you are already dead." by now the dark blue haired teen had let go of his throat, and he was hovering over him like everyone else while folding his arms, "And Rei was going to attempt to do CPR."

"It saves people!" protested the ashen haired lady as she stuck out her tongue.

Joshua dully gazed at them as he tried to get up, but then he hit the pavement again as Rei pinned him down with her hands by his shoulders "Hold it! I want a answer, Aleck. Why were you trying to erase yourself?"

'I have no need to answer…' thought Joshua dully.

Just by looking at Rei's scowling face he closed his eyes feeling weak.

Once again, he was slapped by Rei "Wake up! You're here now, and you're not going to sleep! Confess!"

"I needed… to…" said Joshua dolefully as he looked away from her, "I had no reason for staying in the UG."

"How could you be so selfish!?" screamed Rei as she used one of her hands to make him look at her, "Do you think you can leave anytime you want? What do you take us for? Do you want Blindy erased? Hmm? How do you think Ayumu feels?"

The lavender-eyed teen half closed his eyes and he bluntly whimpered, "He can't… Ayumu can't show how he feels because he doesn't have emotions at all!"

Silence followed after that as Izo and Rei gave him appalled gawks.

"H-H-He can't even c-c-communicate to people," shrieked Joshua as tears began to run down his face rapidly and he started to hyperventilate, "How can I help him when it is nearly too intolerable to strive? I can't even relate to his problems!"

As he almost began to shriek the rest he felt a something gently poke his exposed arm, his breath stalled as he heard Ayumu's accented voice "Relax…"

He half closed his eyes and bit his lip hard continuing to sob.

As he lay there Rei let go of him and edged away with Izo and Ayumu, he went on sobbing feeling miserable as he heard them speak in low voices.

"Mad. Mad I tell you," murmured Rei shaking her head as her bright brown eyes darted to him, "Aleck wanting to erase himself? I never knew I would see the day."

Izo nodded as he growled shifting his glasses "Assure that he is more powerful than us, I can only follow his lead if he does so wisely. I'm not inspired by anybody. We need to watch him…"

His partner flicked his nose as she growled "Oh no! I'm not babysitting Aleck!"

"He needs to be closely observed so he doesn't get himself erased again!" protested Izo as he lashed out at his long bangs, "Though it is not my belief that we should. If he wants to get erased, he can…"

He yelped in agony as Rei smashed her clipboard at his head, "REI!"

"We are trying to keep him not erased Izo!" huffed Rei as she scribbled something down on her still shockingly mint condition clipboard, "Right now Joshua is in a fragile state."

She was interuped by Izo "Wow, you said his name for once for the second time today."

"Does it matter?" asked Rei shrugging before she sneered "Or are you masking how fragile you are in stores and malls?"

Izo gave her a wide-eyed stare as he said with his voice was shaking "Does that matter either? S-shopping j-j-just s-scares m-me."

"Ooh, uh huh! Tough men like you need to be ripped off the doorframe to be in a store." sang his partner in wry with a sly grin and she winked at him.

"Shut up!"

'Why would they want me here? I can't be that powerful. My main strength is my logic and how clever I am.' thought Joshua dolefully as he slowly made himself sit up, then he hung his head staring at his partly faded hands and legs.

Suddenly he heard Rei exclaim, "Let's let Blindy do it! C'mon, they are partners. And Ayumu is kinda the one who can control Joshua, so yea!"

The next second he saw Ayumu's feet shuffled and he looked up at his half brother through dull lavender eyes, Ayumu only stared back absently with his blind pewter eyes.

Joshua opened his mouth to speak but he remembered that something Megumi had said 'Your brother cannot hear you, that's why when you speak to him he replies by reading your mind to see what you're thinking of. It's all part of one entry fee… He has to…'

For a while they gazed at each other before Joshua looked away sadly 'Looking at you makes me sick with grief… Oh Ayumu… I-'

The ashen blond teen felt numb from what happened and what he did, was he really in the option of erase suicide? Right now he wanted to hide in shame. He felt so useless and confused that he couldn't remember for the moment that he was sitting on the cold, dirty, and hard ground.

He hated sitting on the ground when germs and contaminated things latched onto him.

He brought his knees to his chest and whimpered.

Suddenly he heard Ayumu's and his phone jingle, signaling that the mission had come.

Joshua didn't even want to look at the mission; he hid his face in between his legs and chest still whimpering. He caused Ayumu to lose his way to communicate, just because he wanted…

No, was killed and became part of the game he always saw as a kid even when no one saw it but him.

When he felt someone tap part of his knee, he squeezed his knees tighter "Josh. Read mission."

"No…" he whimpered weakly and his heart felt like it was being crushed.

Ayumu's accented voice came again "Read mission. Now."

'Just leave me alone! I don't want to do the mission. Please…' He tried to push Ayumu away but then his young half brother grabbed ahold and pulled him up, Joshua's knees shook and he fell forward. Ayumu who hugged him tightly immediately after catching him spoke, "Need help. Josh needs help now, nix lone."

Closing his eyes he fell silent.

"Read mission. Inside mind your, Josh." said Ayumu emotionless as he reached into Joshua's pocket and took out not Joshua's phone but his dull green and white phone.

Numbly he gazed at it as though it wasn't there and shook his head "N-No…"

Suddenly his whole body went stiff and he couldn't move, "Read mission, Josh. Time loss great."

He couldn't look away from Ayumu's phone and tried to make his mind as blank as possible, he wanted to tear his heart out from the anguish in him. This was truly was torture to Joshua.

'Go… find… the… Owl… that… lurks… the… shade… and… the… Eagle… that… debut…' Joshua couldn't stop himself from reading, staring at his brother's phone was too tempting 'in… the… ray… Have… t-60… minutes… to… complete… or… face… erasure… by… the… Reapers'…' right away after finishing he keened in his mind 'Why did you make me do that, Ayumu…'

"Because, mission drives bold. And truth comes from fold." replied Ayumu in the same emotionless tone and he let go psychically of Joshua who whimpered and rested his head on Ayumu's shoulder torpidly.
