Chapter 23: Dawn of Dispute:

Joshua sat on the bench alone; fuming.

He had his phone in his hands, and he was glaring at the sun that was hidden behind the darker clouds. The lavender eyed boy snorted a bit as the Reaper's last cries filled his head.

Joshua shook his head to dismiss the daunting sound, his muscles tensed when he thought 'Why Ayumu why!? What made you erase that Reaper? We just met him yet you erased him!' he let out a grunt while he clenched his fists 'And I saved you… just for that? Ayumu, how could you be so cruel…'

Right now, thinking about Ayumu made Joshua ill tempered. He didn't want to see Ayumu.

The fact was that once he woke up, he got away from where Ayumu's body was as quick as possible. He couldn't contain his anger by staring at his half brother's sleeping form.

Joshua noticed the subtle chips on his phone, and this made him fume even more.

So for many minutes, he sat alone.

It was until he almost passed out from sitting in the same spot too long that someone suddenly from behind grabbed his collar and lifted him off the bench "Hey!"

His yelp went ignored by the sour expression Rei was wearing when she turned him around to look at her; he frowned at her when pain had stung his left cheek. Rei had slapped him; hard.

"Oh ho, not again." she had her bright brown eyes narrowed when she growled "What is up with you, all alone again. This time, sulking?" She looked as though all her fox-like nature had drained out from her when she let him go and looked behind her "Hey Izo! Ayumu! He's over here."

In seconds the dark blue haired 15 and a half-year-old boy strode over with Ayumu following a little bit behind him, right away Joshua took a step back as he saw his own kin.

Izo had a aloof expression as he coldly mused "To dance a chance, the lance of adorn rises to rile. To come for the tile who shifts, without a chip or even a flip. One is to be questioned of why this is…" he closed his maroon eyes as he adjusted his small oval glasses "Please explain Aleck, the motive you act hostile to Blindy now…"

'Ayumu, must have told them lies of what happened.' Joshua gave them all a cold glare as he replied, "Does it matter? Why don't you ask my half brother yourself?"

"Josh-" said Ayumu emotionless giving him a glance.

But Joshua didn't want to hear him so he cut him off harshly "Shut up Ayumu!" he turned away from them all as he snapped "Go on. Ask my half brother instead. I'm sure he has many lies to tell you two, listen to him and leave me alone!" His lavender eyes were dark and misty as he demanded "Tell them Ayumu!"

He stormed off in fury, feeling the need to leave these people as quick as he could. But just as he was putting a foot down he froze. A familiar golden yellow aura surrounded his body and he couldn't move a single muscle.

There was shock splitting through him as Izo and Rei surrounded him, he felt deeply angered by this as he screamed "Let. Go. Of. Me. Ayumu!"

"We can't let you leave!" shouted Rei as he noticed a tinge of anger piercing through her voice, she scribbled furiously on her clipboard in which he knew it came from her black satchel "Not. Like. This. Aleck! Keep it up Ayumu! Keep him there as much as you can."

Joshua growled in frustration as he roared, "This isn't even fair! Let go of me now!"

Ayumu replied without emotion "Aye, Rei." his voice was quiet, but Joshua could still hear it.

"Right now we are pending of the cause to why you are morose to us, and to Blindy, Aleck!" growled Izo callously when he gracefully swiped his cobalt bangs to the side only for them to sail back in front of his eye again, Joshua wanted to shiver as the cold air that Izo produced made his bones feel ready to shatter at that moment, "Albeit the element of doing this is strictly prejudiced, we require answers."

Rei nodded upon that and she put a hand on her hip "Yeah… Like Izo said... Speak out!"

Joshua wanted to bite his lip, but he couldn't.

"And," sharply said Rei as she scribbled something else down on her clipboard "Ayumu can't be the one to tell us, you are trying to prove what you said yesterday wrong Aleck. Your entry fee Aleck, Ayumu's communication with people. He tried to tell us already, but bombed it!" as she said the last part she had her arm raised high before letting it fall in a whacking motion.

'She's right, he can't…' the realization didn't make Joshua feel anything but anger, 'I guess I need to tell them that.'

Suddenly the aura around him vanished.

Joshua felt almost ready to fall from being suspended that way for awhile but instead he heard a thud behind him, he turned his head to the noise to see that Ayumu had fallen to his knees panting softly. Maybe he was trying to hold in how much exhaustion he really was feeling.

The only good thing that happened yesterday was that he found out that Ayumu could feel exhaustion.

On the corner of his eye he saw Rei dart over to Ayumu and kneel down to be level with the petite blond boy, "H-Hey! Are you alright?"

Ayumu only nodded slowly as sweat drops fell off his face "Too much… control of me power."

Joshua only watched silently before his shoulder was crasped hard and Izo pulled him down onto the ground "Now, tell us the reason, Aleck…" the ashen blond felt his body ache in pain and had a feeling he might have broken a bone or something.

He lay there for a short time before he snarled, "Ayumu, erased a Reaper."

Rei gasped from where she helped Ayumu up who was still panting "What!? That can't- No…" her face was screwed up in a startled way as she shook her head "Ayumu cannot do something like that, he's blind."

"And psychic." retorted Izo as he suddenly kicked Joshua in the face, as Joshua moaned in pain Izo mumbled in a mindful tone "Did he get his nose broken by the Reaper, Aleck?"

"There was only one person who did that to Ayumu. It was me," said Joshua coldly as he gave Izo a glare, amid only Rei gasped as Joshua added in a lower and bitter voice "But it'll heal like the other injures we've had so far. Nothing that bad to worry about."

Before he could say more after getting up, Rei slapped him hard enough to knock him down again "WHAT! You did that to Ayumu!"

Joshua coughed a bit as he weakly got up while his face throbbed in pain, right now Rei was giving him a glower that seemed like pure hatred. He stared at her numbly in mixed pain and fury as she shrieked, "Broken noses don't mend that well! Ayumu's nose may be like that for the rest of his life, you've scarred him, Aleck."

At the moment Joshua saw Ayumu stroke the sides of his nose slowly, he had his pewter eyes closed as he did so.

When Joshua got up again he was yanked back by Izo, Joshua struggled within Izo's hold as he roared with his rising anger at his younger half brother "I can't bare another moment with you here Ayumu! I want you to be faraway from me now!"

"Granted!" piped Rei as she suddenly jogged over, separated Izo and Joshua, and then shoved Izo over to Ayumu. Joshua gazed at her as she waved her hands at him "I have dibs on Joshua!"

Izo shuffled a bit from Rei forcing him to move before he growled "Dibs for Joshua… What do you mean by that?"

The ashen grey haired lady had hooked onto both of Joshua's shoulders as she sang "Oh… I mean to say is that we do a swap. You, Izo, can have Ayumu… And I can have Aleck…"

"Is that even allowed Rei?" asked the maroon eyed teen as he gave Rei a wary scowl; he tapped his foot as he blinked once quickly "I can concoct the misfortune for this lucidly… we, will, get, erased."

The fact wasn't that hard for Joshua who was still in a bitter mood but was able comprehend it.

The ashen haired lady seemed to stare at Izo until he sighed, once he did she responded with a smirk "No way. I dunno if that is a rule, 'cause there is no rulebook to play this game." She pulled Joshua a bit back before she rested her arms and weight on Joshua's head "Plus! A simple swap today won't be that bad Izo, or do you rather fancy my presence?"

"No!" retorted Izo as his visible eye blazed in fury.

Joshua tried to push her away through his ill temper but she somewhat had him in a headlock, "Good! Like I said, take Ayumu under your wing Izo!" no matter what Joshua tried he was stuck. If he tried to free himself, it would doubtlessly end up having his head ripped off.

The cobalt haired boy turned his head to the petite blond who had now stopped panting and was standing there perfectly fine, "Why do I have to take the blind brat?"

For a second Joshua bit his lip to stop himself from protecting Ayumu, his half brother could deal with this on his own.

"Uno!" Rei had a index finger in the air, "I already have Aleck in my care."

The look Izo gave her told Joshua that he was annoyed "Such a tyke…"

"Dos!" she now had her middle finger wagging now along with the same index finger in the air "Ayumu needs a partner or he'll be erased."

Ayumu tipped his head a bit to look in another direction when she finished "Tres! The Boss Man of this game must be ready to send his hound dogs after him. Aka, the nice Reapers. He needs to be safeguarded or he'll be erased absolute, zip left!"

By now Joshua had absconded Rei.

'All I want is to be alone, in PEACE!' his disdain for people was returning to Joshua, he had no idea why he was opening up to these two after meeting them. It made no sense.

But sadly Rei had snuck up from behind him and grabbed onto his neat shirt collar, he only withered in the hold as Rei dragged him away.
