007.

The next day came soon enough, and Kurogane made sure he had his house cleaned up and his bag ready for work tomorrow, before checking the time. Fai had said 1030am and it was just a few minutes after nine right then. Now that he was stocked once more, he got out his crockpot and worked on making his dinner for later that night. Setting the crockpot on low, it would be able to cook all day if need be and he didn't have to worry about it until much later.

Once dinner was prepped and on, Kurogane proceeded to take a hot shower. After the shower, he got dressed into some casual, warm clothes as the December air was cold, and made sure he had everything ready to just head out the door when the time came to head over. He read some manga to pass the remaining time before he was to meet Fai at his place. As it neared time, he put away his manga, and put on his winter jacket and gloves; he grabbed what he thought to take, locked up and made the small walk over to Fai's house. He knocked on the outside door a few times, before calling in, "Fai, you around?" No answer, but the wooden door was open, and taking that as an open invitation, Kurogane opened the glass screen door, and walked in to the other's living room. He lightly looked about, but the main upstairs doors were all closed. Walking into the kitchen, he noticed the fence that Fai used to block the downstairs was set to the side, and turned his gaze down towards the stairs, where he noted that the door to the basement was ajar.

"Fai?"

A small echo of noise, before he clearly heard, "Be right up…!"

From the sound, Fai was definitely downstairs, and Kurogane temporarily borrowed a kitchen chair while he waited for the other. Fai came up with his arms full of cases, a quiver on his back, and a couple pairs of bulky headphones strapped like shoulder pads, and two sets of safety glasses, one over his eyes, and the other slipped onto the collar of his jacket. He was wearing a similar pair of gloves over his hands as he had from the hospital, no doubt to keep them out of sight and guarded from worsening.

Kurogane looked at the sight Fai presented, and couldn't help but ask, "Couldn't make two trips instead of just one?"

"This is the second trip," Fai responded, "And lunch will need a third."

Kurogane lightly rolled his eyes. "Are those why the basement is not open to the children?"

Fai makes his best shrug with his things, which requires him to adjust the quiver on his back, "Amongst other reasons."

Kurogane didn't pry any further for the time. If Fai wanted to share, that was fine, but it was his neighbor's business and not really his. He was just slightly curious, he reminded himself. "Want some help?"

"Well, if you want, you can grab the lunchbox in the fridge, -ah, and the first aid box under the bathroom sink –it'll have a box of standard Band-Aids on top of it, those too. I think the one that I keep in the glove compartment is missing the disinfectant crème."

"Sure," Kurogane said getting up and off the chair. He went to the bathroom first, and opened the door. Kneeling down, he opened the doors to the underbelly of the sink, and searched a little before he found the aforementioned first-aid kit and Band-Aid box, which had been placed near the middle of the space. Surrounding them were bottles of cleansing products, Q-tips, cotton balls and toilet paper, while the other half held mostly cleaning supplies. He took them out before he shut the doors gently, stood back up, and left the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Moving back into the kitchen, he set the first-aid supplies on Fai's table so he had both hands temporarily free. Finding the lunch box was a lot easier than finding the Band-Aids – the drawing note taped on top of it made it even more obvious. Fai had drawn that same black cartoonish cat he apparently liked with one of a dog, with a slice of bread drawn between them. Scrawled barely legibly were the words "Tomorrow's lunch".

He grabbed the lunchbox , and took the things out to Fai, who had just finished what he was doing and climbed out of the bed of his truck, with a small hop and smile. "If you've got those, only thing left is to lock 'er up, and head on out."

"I got these," Kurogane responded, heading to the door of the truck. He tested it with one hand as Fai went to the door to lock up, pleased to find that it was unlocked and opened up for him. He set the boxes in first before he used the hand grip to hoist himself into the vehicle. The truck was just roomy enough that he didn't conk his head on the ceiling and had ample leg room. Fai opened the driver's side door as he was buckling in, and slipped in with practiced ease. After they were both buckled in securely, Fai put the keys to ignition and brought the engine to life. He let it warm up a bit, before he put the truck into drive and began to pull forward, so he could peer past the bush in his yard that partially obstructed the view of the cross lane. Once he confirmed it was clear, he turned left, to the turn lane, and, pausing to check the on-traffic, he pulled out onto the main road once clear, and began the drive to the firing range up in Brighton.
