Chapter 29 : the college.
On the road Calinwen explained everything. How after training with the greybeards she went to the college to get better with magic, From time to time she would help Mirvanye with red legion tasks. But the college found a artifact of magnus, the Eye, And we where now going to a place where it is said there is a powerful staff to counter the eye. We will see what happens. I looked behind me, Mrivanye tried to convince me to take more and after a while i accepted to have some warriors near the college in disquise. I must've look with disgust because calinwen laughed. "what is wrong?" she asked.
"The armor my warriors need to wear. Why steel plate? Nordic even." I shook my head with a grunt. Myself wore a glass armor but not how these nord made them, Rather i took the Altmeri style.
"Because full face and nord, The nords there support Ulfric so they would terrorise your people just based on skin alone." She said while we descended down a stair, Well if you could call it like that. Mostly snow patches between each stair. She led us through some big door, Carved with runes and other things i couldn't care less about. As we pushed the door open we saw a scene of six ghost. She listened to them speak but i went ahead a small bit. "That was the arch mage. But younger." She hummed something. We passed another door after looking through the rubble.
"So why do you have a housecarl? aren't they the nordic equilevant of a personal aide?" I asked while we explored more. I heard her trying to say something before skeletons began to charge at us. i drew my sword and shield as i began stabbing one. i surveyed the surrounding as i saw several coming for me as Calinwen used her magic to blast them apart with lightning. i chuckled as i bashed one hard enough so it's head fell off. "guess they really are dumb." I picked it up to throw it at another skeleton, It was a mistake as i had to lay my sword on the ground and two skeletons closed it. I swtiched over to lightning and began zapping away as i blocked the other skeleton's axe. But before long every skeleton lay down again.
I looked at her as she wiped some hair away, She smiled. "The more i explore of skyrim the more i am glad to be a altmer." She began moving again and i followed suit, "But to answer your question, I.. found someone. And i wanted them to have a good home. So i went and helped solitude out to get approval from the jarl to own one. And while doing that i had proved myself so the jarl named me a Thane." She pushed a door open and peeked in. I heard mumblings again, Now there were three instead of six. i dulled the mumblings out seeing nothing to be learned from this. she hummed again softly as we quickly went forward. We fought some more skeletons and Draugr nothing of note until we reached a room with a Draugr and a hound but it was summoned. the hound was zapped to a puddle of ectoplasma as we continued on she hummed again, The next room had more draugr and again a spectral hound, the hound came for me as the draugr for calinwen. After that she went up to a wall and held her hand against it. She whispered klo she turned around. "sand." I looked confused at her. "it is a shout. to slow time. i found one before. not sure where the third will be." I nodded and we went for a gigantic door. Again she hummed as we neared it.
"Everytime we pass a door you humm why?" she chuckled as she held her hand on a amulet. It was unlike any amulet for the divines i ever saw. she shook her head and past me. "We will talk after wards." i said as i followed her into a room. It looked like it has crumbled a bit. On the left on three daises where ghost holding something on the right in stasis with magic. "You think our weapon will be here?" i wondered as i went up a staircase on the right. Finding the dragonpriest with a staff in like i thought stasis by magic. With a sigh i looked towards Calinwen who disrupted the ghostly mages. When she was as the last one she yelled to me to be ready. It Dawned on me to late what she meant as a gauntlet of decaying flesh came towards my face. Ducking under it grabbing my sword i tried to stab the arm but it was blocked by the staff it held. The thing growled something in ancient nordic as it forced me to get back, He had summoned a storm atronach. I slowly went down the stairs before it tried to stomp his arm on me. Seeing a opening i quickly went past it and up the stairs. Holding my shield up high i charged. pushing the dragonpriest into the wall i put my sword under it's hideous mask i slashed. With a grin i looked at Calinwen. "see no magic needed. She pointed at the wall where it stood before showing alot of scorch marks. With a grunt we left after taking his mask and staff.
"hope this will be worth it." she grunted. "whole time that bastard fed of my magicka. Reason i hummed." i looked semi confused but i knew better then to prod. So i simply nodded. We passed a door and there was a voice calling us to stop. We looked at eachother before a thalmor appeared from a corridor.
"Ancano want that staff to keep for safety. And you dead." His voice dripping with venom and before we could reply he used lightning to us. I raised my shield to block it since it was enchanted. I moved slowly forward as Calinwen shoot fire and lightning at him. I saw a atronach wich i bashed a few times even stabbing it. Only a fool would get close to a mage with a magic cloak around him. Opting to hold the chokepoint as Calinwen rained destruction over a few spells slinging over and over the thalmor collapsed, We walked closer and checked what he had on him before we quickly went to the college.
AN note. : so since i had long time to think, i rather like the way ESO have done there armor styles. so i will draw away from a style in light (robes) medium (leather and the likes. and heavy (steal) if you want to See wich glass i mean search for ESO glass motif. the heavy variant Thorein wears.
