Chapter 2

Emmett's POV

I was so bored. Bella was out of the state for some business thing. We had just dropped them off at the airport a few hours ago. It wasn't fair that Alice and Jasper were the only ones allowed to go with Bella and Edward. Why couldn't I go with them too?

We all knew that the Undermining had to know by now that we were all still alive, and if that was the case then I so should have been allowed to go with them to help protect Bella.

"Family meeting?"

I sat up at hearing Rose's voice. Why was she calling a meeting? Especially since half of the family was missing.

Carlisle and Esme clearly didn't know what this was about.

I took my seat and waited for Rose to come in.

She had Cissy on her hip, and Anna was skipping beside her, her little hand clutching Rose's.

Rose helped Anna onto a chair before standing behind her own. "I just got an interesting call from Charlie."

"Is everything alright?" Esme was quick to ask. The concern was strong with this mom.

Rose took her seat and from her relaxed shoulders whatever she was wanting to tell us, it couldn't be bad news.

"Uncle Charlie wants us to build," Anna announced before clapping her hands over her mouth nervously.

Rose laughed. "It's okay Anna, we're just supposed to keep it a secret from auntie Bella, and try to keep it from Edward."

I glanced from Carlisle to Esme, they didn't understand any better than I did.

"What is Charlie wanting us to build?" Esme asked Rose.

At least I wouldn't be bored anymore. Building anything would be fun.

"Charlie is wanting to build onto his house so that there's more space for all of them." Rose brushed back Cissy's hair from her face. "He told me that he has a few friends in the area this weekend and they'd be willing to help out."

"We don't need anyone else to help out. We can have the work done this weekend no problem." I crossed my arms in front of my chest.

Rose patted my arm. "Yes, but Charlie has neighbors. He said he has a way to make sure none of the neighbors will be suspicious about the quick job, but the more people around the better."

Her voice dropped lower so only the vampires would hear. "He'd also like to keep Anna away from any tools."

That seemed like a smart idea. Anna liked trying anything and everything but she was too little for real tools.

"We can handle that without too many problems." Esme got up from the table and returned with her drawing stuff. "How would you like to help me draw up the plans Anna?"

Anna's smile was blinding, and her head nodded so fast her curls swung wildly about. I backed up just to be certain she wouldn't accidentally hit me. That wouldn't be good, but it also wouldn't happen, I'd make sure of it.

"Can we go now?" Anna pleaded with Carlisle.

I glanced at Rose to see how she was. Ever since we had found out that Anna and Cissy were our Nieces, Rose had gotten even more protective of the girls. Despite the fact we knew Anna and Cissy were our nieces though, Anna still treated Rose the same as she always has. Bella and Charlie are her Guardians, Carlisle and Esme are the heads of our family, the rest of us are her friends.

I knew the fact that Anna doesn't see Rose as an authority figure, was an upsetting topic for my Rosie. I didn't know if Anna would ever see Rose that way, but I did know it would take some time before she could.

I just wish Rose could be patient for however long Anna needed.

"We can head over there now." Esme picked Anna up and gave her a hug.

We all got up and gathered the things we would need.

I really hoped that whoever these friends of Charlie's were that they were from the other world. It wouldn't be any fun if I had to constantly work at a human speed. I would get really bored if I had to work that slow all weekend long.

Since we were going to be hauling stuff to and from Charlie's house, I decided to bring my jeep. Of course, that meant I wouldn't be able to drive Bella's car, but that was alright, Carlisle was finally getting his turn driving Bella's awesome car.

When we arrived at Charlie's house I was surprised by what I saw. Charlie's few friends turned out to be a huge crew. Just in the front yard, there had to be nearly thirty people and we could hear more people at the back of the house.

Some of Charlie's neighbors were out front talking with Charlie about how nice it was that so many people had come out to help them.

"We're ready to get to work." Carlisle stepped up to Charlie's side.

Charlie nodded to Carlisle and turned to his neighbor. "Well we have a lot of work to do, and I have an army to command."

His neighbors all laughed and headed back to their house.

Charlie waved us towards the front door. "Come on, I'll introduce you to everyone."

I couldn't help glancing around. "I think that might take to long Charlie, maybe we should just get to work."

Charlie chuckled. "Come on, it won't take that long."

We all followed Charlie inside the house and back outside through the back door.

"Kevin, Louis, Arthur, I have some people I'd like to introduce to you," Charlie called to the massive crowd.

Three men all around Charlie physical age stopped what they were doing and joined us beside the house. The first to reach us offered his hand to Carlisle.

"I'm Arthur Colton, pleasure to meet you all."

We all gasped as the man's appearance changed in front of our eyes. Instead of the wide dark eyes, they had narrowed and switched to the brightest of greens. His face was no covered by the largest mustache I had ever seen outside of a cartoon, and he now had the wide brim hat to go with it. His clothes had changed to, now he was wearing steel-toed boots and dressed like a responsible construction worker.

"Arthur here can change his appearance and the appearances of the people around him," Charlie explained. He clapped a hand on the second man to join us.

This man was nearly as tall as I was, but string bean skinny.

"This is Kevin, he's a spellcaster, and this is Louis."

"I'm a sectional," Louis offered his hand to Carlisle also. "I can separate things into their different aspects by creating duplicates. Charlie's currently utilizing my ability to duplicate people by separating them into their different personalities and emotions."

"That's how there's so many people here." That was so awesome. I pointed to Arthur. "You're changing the appearance of all the duplicates and you're…" I paused turning to Kevin. "What exactly are you doing?"

Charlie and his friends laughed together and Charlie answered my question. "Kevin is using his magic throughout the neighborhood. Making sure no one gets too suspicious about how quick the house is coming together."

Kevin shrugged. "By the time we finish no one will question the build."

Charlie finished the introductions, introducing his friends to us and we all headed for the table that was set up out of the way of all the supplies.

Charlie handed the top sheet on the table to Esme. "I was told that you do most of the plans for your houses. This is what I would like for the girls, feel free to do whatever you like with it, add expand upon."

Esme took it eagerly, she was ready to get started on the designs. "I'll have something ready for you within the next hour."

"No rush," Charlie told her. "We're still waiting on a few more delivers."

Arthur chuckled. "Kevin's twin is sending all the supplies through their twin abilities, but it will take a little bit of time for her to send the rest of the supplies. She's adding her magic in it so Kevin can replicate the magic in Charlie's house that way the whole house will be protected."

Carlisle nodded his agreement. "That's remarkable."

That was something we all agreed on.

Esme and Rose took the girls inside while us men started working on clearing the yard.

Rose's POV

Working on the house wasn't as simple as we had all thought it would be. Esme had created an amazing floor plan with a lot of help from Anna. Once it was drawn up though she wanted to go outside and build it with her Uncle Charlie.

Esme and I were able to distract her long enough by having her pick out all the furnishings in the house but Anna had found everything she wanted before bedtime. We needed a way to distract her all day long Saturday.

By Saturday morning neither of us had come up with an idea that would keep Anna safely away from the build like Charlie wanted.

Anna bounced in her seat eagerly as finished her breakfast. She had just shoveled in the last bite when Carlisle walked in. He stopped beside Anna and knelt down to her eye level.

"Anna, I was wondering if you'd like to stay with me today, and work on the science experiments in your book." He set the book that Mr. Banner had given her, on the table.

Anna glanced from the book to Carlisle. "But we're still working on the house."

"It's too loud for Cissy's little ears right now at your house, so Auntie Rose and I are staying here with her. Esme's going to be staying here too to organizing the buying and shipping of all the new stuff for your house."

"Do you really want to be stuck with Uncle Emmett all day," I threw in just help her make up her mind. Emmett, of course, was grumbling upstairs, but he knew that we were trying to keep her safe.

Anna fingered the cover of the book thoughtfully. "Can we do all of them?"

Carlisle ruffled her hair. "We can sure try."

Anna bounced excitedly in her seat.

It turned out the science experiments were the best way to distract her. She and Carlisle worked happily all day long, except for when Esme had food ready. Anna was always quick though to get back to work.

I flinched as heard another crash.

I darted to Cissy's side before she could start crying. That was enough baby walker today. I couldn't so much as blink while watching Cissy while she was in the contraption. She was constantly connecting her powers to me and as soon as she did she darted in whatever direction she was facing. We never should have bought the walker, it wasn't safe for her to use with her powers.

Carlisle peeked into the living room. "Everything alright in here."

I sighed and passed him Cissy who was crying loudly. He quickly checked her over before bouncing her lightly. "You're doing a great job Rose, we're all learning how to handle Cissy's powers."

That didn't change the fact though that every time Cissy cried I found myself feeling very inadequate.

"Honey, I'm home!" Emmett bellowed as he stepped through the front door.

Cissy cried louder thanks to him.

"Whoops." He stepped closer bashfully. Seeing him bashful was always a fun sight, so I couldn't stay mad at him.

I reached up gave him a quick peck. "How did it go?"

Emmett grinned. "We're almost done with all the work outside. Once Anna's in bed I'll be heading back to finish it up. Kevin's magic is all set and Charlie's neighbors are only going to see what Charlie wants them too."

"I'll head with you, but first…" He nodded towards Cissy before taking her upstairs.

I wrapped my arms around Emmett, using his strength to ease my worries. "Is Charlie going to come watch the girls so Esma and I can help you and Carlisle tonight?"

Emmett nodded. "Just like last night, and Alice is going to call us just in case she sees either of the girls waking up before we get back."

"It's a good thing we don't have to sleep, otherwise we wouldn't have enough time to finish up and furnish the house before Bella gets back.

Emmett laughed. "Anna is a little whirlwind, even if we did need to sleep, I'm sure with her help we'd get it done on time."

I couldn't help laughing at that, Emmett always knew how to make me feel better.

"I better head upstairs, it's almost time for Bella to call."

Emmett kissed my forehead. "I'll be up afterward to read to them."

I offered him my sweetest smile and headed upstairs to find Anna. I'd have to tell Bella about Cissy and her speed, but thanks to Emmett's presence I wasn't dreading it anymore.
