Meredith closed her phone and smiled at Derek, "I'm going to call my sister." She knew her smile was tight but she couldn't do more then that. He nodded and she stood up stretching and then dialed April's number.

"Hey Mer just got to the hospital what's up? April asked.

"the nursing home called." Meredith made sure Derek couldn't hear her. I didn't have time to talk though. Do you know what they wanted.

"Yeah it's a family dinner tonight they want us to go. I can go I have a light day today."

Meredith breathed a sigh of relief "Thanks Aps."

"yeah, anytime. "Yes Jackson I see you. Sorry mer have to go Jackson is waving me down we have a patient.

April whirled around the hospital trying to get everything accomplished efficiently but on time so she could make the family dinner at the home.

"What has you in such a tizzy today?" Jackson asked as she finished chart after chart.

April looked at him and then pulled him into a close on call room.

"Ha I always knew you wanted me."

"Shut up." April sat on the bed and looked over at Jackson tears shimmering in her eyes.

"Hey April I was just kidding." He soothed.

"I have to go visit my mother, but you see me and Meredith lied to everyone our mother isn't traveling or writing a book she has Alztimers she is in the late stages. She's in a home and it's just me and Meredith she won't let anyone else see her and it's hard Jackson it's so hard. She sobbed for what felt like the first time Jackson gathered her into his arms.

"Shh it's okay." He breathed holding her close. "Why didn't you tell me sooner I can help.

"No you can't she sniffed. She stood up and wiped her eyes. "I Have to go so I can make the family dinner Meredith can't make it."

"Here." He took the charts she had laid on the bed. I will finish for you go." He ushered her out. Just as her phone rang.

"Hey Mer I'm on my way out now. She cupped her hand around her phone and whispered I told Jackson."

"I think I need to tell Derek." Meredith sighed. Also there is a freaking syphilis outbreak here at the hospital and I Have to help with a surgery for Richard Webber."

"What." April stopped in her tracks. "Is he okay."

"well hopefully it's all hush hush lets just cross our fingers we don't blind him.

"Mer be careful I'll let you know how mom is later."

With that the call was disconnected.

Where is your sister?" the head of the home asked as April came though the door.

"she had to work late. I'm here though." She gave a look that warned the other woman not to speak another word.

"Hi mom." April smiled sitting next to Ellis.

"Where is Meredith."

"She had a surgery she couldn't make it."

Ellis actually seemed to know who she was for once which all and all surprised her. She even told her she was proud of her and Meredith.

Calling Meredith after the dinner April sat in her car. "It was good she actually knew me. She said she was proud of us."

"I'm sure more you then me. Oh by the way I told Derek, and we didn't blind Richard although now he knows about me and Derek. Also the nursing home lady called and yelled at me."

"She did what?" April snapped. She got out of her car and hurried back up the steps. "Mer I'll talk to you later."

"What are you doing?"

"Going to kick a lady's ass."

"April Kepner Grey you are not." Meredith laughed.

"Yes I am I told her not to bother you."

"It's fine really it was the push I needed to tell Derek anyway."

"Fine." April sighed and turned back around. "I don't like it though."

They said their goodbye's and April headed home.

She was almost asleep when her phone rang. She reached for it groggily.

"Hello."

"He's married, married to a gorgeous red head who showed up at the hospital."

"Wait what?" April sat straight up in bed. "Whose married?"

"Derek of course because that's just my luck right fall in love with the secretly married guy.

"Where are you?"

"About to get drunk at the Emerald bar."

"I'll be there in a moment." With that April threw on her clothes and rushed to her sister secret be dammed.
