"Why are running, why am I even here?" April panted as she run beside Meredith and Cristina.

"Because you're my sister."

"That's your answer for everything."

"Yeah well It works."

April shook her head well I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I have to get to work so you two later." With those parting words she was gone.

"your sister is….." Cristina stopped at the look Meredith was giving her. "Lovely." Cristina held back her snark.

Meredith was frozen as she saw her mother coming in the stretcher. She felt numb. She grabbed at her phone. She needed to call her sister she ran for the locker room. She slide against the lockers but she was frozen she couldn't dial that number.

"Meredith, Meredith" she heard the voices outside the room.

"I need my sister." She choked out.

"Her sister she has a sister?" Alex asked as Miranda also listened to the request.

"Where is her sister?" Bailey asked.

"She is an intern at Mercy West. The chief can get ahold of her." Cristina said. "Okay." Bailey nodded handing out assigments putting George on Ellis Gray as she hurried to the chief.

"Chief."

"Oh Bailey what can I do for you?"

"Sir I need you to get ahold of an intern at Mercy West."

"Why?" he leaned back in his chair.

"Because Ellis Gray is here she has Altimaizers and Meredith wants her sister."

Richard felt like he'd been slapped.

He swallowed right okay I'll get ahold of chief Lincoln and have him talk to April. Tell Grey she is off shift for now."

"Yes sir." She left and Richard sat there Ellis grey his Ellis here and sick and Meredith hid the whole thing. He picked up his phone and dialed the number for Mercy West's chief . Hello Chief Lincoln this is chief Webber I need you to get a hold of one of your interns April Kepner. Her mother is in the hospital right now and she is needed her.

"Of course." Richard. "Jason Lincoln said he knew April Kepner Grey's secret or so he thought. He wondered why Ellis Gray was in the hospital. "I will send her right over."

"Thank you Jason." Richard said and with that the call was ended.

Jason Lincoln paged April's resident and told her to have April report to him.

"Sir." He looked up to see Dr. Kepner standing in the doorway.

"Dr Kepner please come in and close the door." April did with some trepidation. "Take a seat." He motioned to the seat across from him. She did so twisting her hands.

"Dr. Kepner I am sorry to let you know your mother has been admitted to Seattle West I just got off the phone with Chief Webber and he has asked that I send you over. You are off for as long as you need.

April swallowed. "Sir. I know this is a lot to ask but can I take Jackson that is Dr Avery with me?"

Dr. Lincoln watched honestly for most people he wouldn't do this but they were a Grey and an Avery so he would allow it. "Okay but tell Dr. Avery he expected for his shift tomorrow.

"Thank you sir." With that April got up and exited the room.

She walked down to the pit where she was supposed to meet the rest of the interns. "What did the chief want?" Jackson asked.

"Me and you need to go to Seattle Grace personal matter. You are to come back for your shift tomorrow."

"Um okay." Jackson said giving her a strange look.

He followed her to the intern locker room where he was quick to change and followed her out to his car. She'd get a ride back here from Meredith later. "Thanks" she breathed as he drove towards Seattle grace

"Of course but would you like to tell me why we're going to Seattle Grace?"

"My mother was admitted to the hospital so I need to get to Meredith and Meredith is going to need me but I.. I'm going to need you."

Jackson heard the break in her voice he reached over and squeezed her hand and soon they were in the Seattle Grace parking lot. They got out and walked towards the doors making it to the desk April asked to be pointed in the direction of Ellis Grey and hurried to the room.

"Hello." She swallowed seeing George in the room as Jackson came up behind her.

"Oh April Meredith is in the locker room if you'd like to go and see her." George said.

"Thank you. This is my friend Jackson Avery." With that April left to find her sister.

George looked up at the other man. "Jackson it's nice to meet you." George nodded. "Um do you know who Thatch is?"

"I believe that's her ex husband Thatcher Grey Meredith and April's father."

"Oh great so I look like their father."

"What?"

"Yeah she seems to think I am Thatch."

Just then Ellis looked up "Oh Richard." She said spotting Jackson standing in the hallway. "Were we supposed to meet in an on call room. Sorry Thatch was preoccupying me." She shot a withering look at George as Jackson and George's mouths both dropped.

"What?" Jackson whispered.

"Did she just….." George trailed off.

"you don't think." The two men looked at each other.

"I don't I'm so confused." Jackson said. Just as Richard walked by.

"Um sir George and Jackson rushed out of the room.

"Oh Doctor Avery did you come with April."

"Yes. But you see Ellis seems to think that I'm… well that I'm you and she said something about an uncall room so yeah…." Jackson didn't know what else to say and George just hung back.

"Well she thinks I'm her ex husband so." He shrugged.

Richard stood their stunned "Well um.. you see… you can't… the girls…."

"So it's true." Jackson narrowed his eyes and you want us." He gestured to him and George. "To keep this a secret."

"Yes." Richard fidgeted nervously.

"I'm not getting involved." George throw his hands up.

"Fine for now." Jackson said grudgingly but if they outright ask me I'm telling them.

"Fair enough." Richard nodded going on his way.

"Well that was.. unexpected. Jackson said

"Yeah George agreed as he went back to trying to examine Ellis.

April found Meredith in the locker room. "Hey." She slide down beside her.

"Hey"

"Hey" Meredith looked over at her.

"I brought Jackson he's down in the room with George."

"That's nice." Meredith gave a wane smile. April pulled her close and hugged her neither sister knowing about the explosion that could very well soon rock their world.

Listen can you help me it seems she will corporate with you and since you're also a doctor then maybe." George sighed looking at Jackson.

"Yeah sure." Jackson said helping get Ellis examined and feeling a bit creeped out at the way she looked at him. He had not expected this when he got of bed that morning.

The world was spinning out of control as Meredith looked up at the chief and clutching her sister's hands. "What do we need to sign." She sighed."

"We need to do a liver biopsy see if it's cancer." Richard said

"Okay." April stood up and pulled Meredith with her following Richard. Soon the paperwork was signed and the two sisters were leaning against each other.

"Hey." April turned to see Jackson standing there."

"Hey." She sniffed back tears.

"Did you hear?"

"Yeah." He gathered her into his arms and pulled Meredith along with him. "I'm sorry you guys."

"Thanks Meredith pulled back dashing tears from her eyes. I just I don't think I can leave this room." She looked around the room the wooden benches and gray lockers.

"Then we stay with you." April said, and Jackson nodded in agreement.

George came into the room. "Cristina Collapsed"

"What?" Meredith gasped standing up.

"She was in surgery and she collapsed she Shepard is with her now. As is Bailey and Izzy.

"I made her jog this morning I made her jog."

"From what I'm getting it was an extra uturian pregnancy you didn't cause this Meredith." George hugged her and April stood in shock. Oh hit after another for her baby sister.

The minuets ticked into hours as they all waited with baited breath for the results. Finally they came. She was cancer free. Cancer free. They could breath or they couldn't both grey sister felt a little like they were drowning.

They clung to each other like life rafts. In the choppy sea that was Ellis Gray.

Jackson and George made sure both girls got home safely that night. Tear stains and all.
