2 Hours Later
Chapter 51
"Can you believe I ever dated that guy?" Lux said as she showed Mariana a selfie of her and Eric. Both teens were sitting on the sofa holding mixed drinks which they had prepared themselves.
Mariana smiled drunkenly. "You two looked sooo happy."
"I th-thought I was. Turns out I was just s-stupid," the blonde confessed. "He didn't really love me."
"He's a loser anyway. He shouldn't have dated his student in the first place. That is just wrong. He's a bad guy."
"He's not a bad guy," Lux defended. "He didn't know that I was younger."
"He knew. He had to have known. You don't exactly dress like you're 24 or anything. Like you have a great job or are really educated or anything like that."
Lux made a face. "Are you trying to make me feel better or worse?" the blonde asked.
Mariana shrugged her shoulders.
"No, seriously. I can't tell," Lux answered honestly.
"I'm just saying… It shouldn't have come as a surprise to him. That's all," Mariana told her.
"Well apparently it did," Lux made a saddened face.
"Well, you'll get over him. You'll find someone way better. Someone who won't make you feel like crap just because of your age. I mean, it's not like you had sex with him or anything, right?" Mariana asked.
Lux remained silent.
Mariana's eyes widened. "What?" she asked. "When? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I don't want to talk about that," Lux told her.
"Well, you have to now," the brunette argued. "I can't believe you didn't tell me when it first happened."
"I didn't tell you that it did happen," Lux answered. "I didn't say anything at all," Lux reminded her.
"Staying silent is saying something... Oh my god. Like he can get ar-rrested for that. Mom and your dad will kk-ill him–" Mariana stopped mid-sentence when she saw Lux with the phone glued to her ear.
"Who are you calling?" Mariana asked but she quickly began getting up when she knew that her drinks were going to come back out from her mouth. She immediately covered it and Lux saw her run off.
She stood up and began to follow her to the bathroom but Mariana shut the door too fast.
"Hello?" Eric answered.
"Hi, Eric. Guess who?" Lux said into the phone.
"Lux, I know it's you. I have caller-id."
"Well, then good!" she shouted accidentally. "You know what. I needed to get something off my chest that I didn't say before because you didn't give me the chance."
"Lux–"
"You, Eric Daniels, are the biggest moron I've ever come across. You tell a girl you love her one second and treat her like she meant nothing the next. What kind of person does that, Eric?"
"Have you been drinking?" he asked, immediately noticing that something had gotten into her.
"Well, yes I have, Mr. Smarty Pants. I bet you needed that big college degree to figure that one out, huh? That's why you decided I wasn't worth your time anymore, right? Because I was younger and not smart enough, right?"
"Lux, where are you?" Eric asked in a concerned voice.
"I'm at a party. Having an AMAZING time without you. I just called you to let you know that I don't need you to have a GREAT time Eric."
"Who are you with?" Eric asked.
"Whatever, Eric. Or Mr. Daniels, since that is what you prefer I call you now. Bye," she said as she quickly hung up the phone, feeling a little better about herself than she had the past few days.
She smiled drunkenly, assuming that she was definitely over him.
"POLICE!" NOBODY MOVE!" Lux heard a familiar male voice yell. Her eyes widened when she realized who it was. Everyone else's voices seemed to stop but people began to move around rapidly despite what he said. Other officers began to walk in.
"COPS!" A student warned.
"I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE'S ID!" Mike yelled. "YOU!" he pointed at the kid who spoke out first. "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!"
"ALL OF THE EXITS ARE COVERED!" Another familiar voice yelled.
"Oh shit," Lux whispered to herself as she covered her mouth.
It was both of her parents.
Stef continued, "EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO ARE UNDERAGE ARE COMING WITH US. NO ONE IS GOING ANYWHERE WITHOUT TAKING A BREATHALYZER TEST."
How did they find out about this party? Lux wondered. She knocked softly on the bathroom door. "Mariana," she whispered with absolute fear in her eyes.
"I'M ALMOST DONE!" Mariana screamed a little too loudly.
"Shhh!" Lux said as she banged on the door and tried to twist the doorknob to get in but it was still locked.
Stef's ears widened. With the silence in the room, she could automatically detect the girl's voice, which sounded too similar to Mariana's to not be her. Stef made her way further into the house to the hallway, where she was positive she heard her daughter's voice. Within seconds, she came face to face with her other daughter.
Lux stared back at her mom for a few seconds. Her first drunken thought was wondering if she should still try to make a break for it.
Stef noticed Lux beginning to eye her surroundings. "Don't even think about it," the cop warned in a stern voice.
To be continued…
