Chapter 3
School's out
Shit shit shit. Natsu thought as he run through the corridors. Looking for his classroom.
There. He stopped abruptly in front of 4A. He slammed open the door, startling his fellows classmates and teacher.
"Komuro. Come with me now." Natsu said, but before leaving he added "You too Hisashi"
Normally Komuro wouldn't go along someone who just says come with me without any explanation. However, this time it was Natsu that said it, and the look on his eyes made Komuro not think about the request and immediately got up from his seat, muttered a quick apology to the sensei who was still shocked before running off to follow Natsu. Hisashi followed suit, and followed Komuro.
"Natsu, slow down. Where are you going?" Komuro shouted as he tried to catch up to the speeding team. Hisashi was not far behind Komuro.
"Third year rooms" Natsu answered.
CRASH. Komuro crashed into Natsu. Apparently, Natsu just completely stopped, and Komuro who was running at his peak speed didn't have enough time to stop or evade.
"Komuro, go to the rooftop. Hisashi, accompany Komuro up there. Barricade the observatory, I'll get Rei." Natsu told them, ignoring the fact that poor Komuro who was still on the floor.
"At least explain what's going on" Komuro said as he got up, Hisashi nodded in agreement and looked towards Natsu.
"I shit you not, but zombies" Natsu replied with a serious face.
"Good one. Looks like you still have a sen-" Komuro never finished his statement because the PA system interrupted him.
"Students are to come back to their rooms, immediately. Teachers please make sure that no one leaves the room." The PA system ended the announcement.
"We don't have time. Go." Natsu ordered at the two, and sprinted off again.
"Let's go" Hisashi said to Komuro, and with that the duo ran and started the climb to the rooftop.
Third Year Corridors, 3-C
The PA announcement didn't seem to razzle the students inside the room of 3-C. Everyone was busy answering their mathematics quiz, and the teacher didn't seem to pay any attention to the announcement.
Suddenly, the doors burst open, and in came a pink haired teen.
"Dragneel, what do you think you're doing?" The sensei got up, and shouted at the intruder. Natsu didn't pay attention, and made his way towards Rei.
"Come now. I'll explain on the way" He said to her in a low voice, so that only Rei could hear what he said.
Rei looked a bit reluctant, and Natsu was getting impatient. They didn't have time to dilly dally. Without any warning he grabbed Rei's arms and pulled her out of her seat and towards the corridor.
"Natsu! What's gotten into you?!" Rei asked/shouted as she was being dragged along the corridors. "That was an important test you know. I'll probably hav-"
"Enough Rei. That doesn't matter anymore. What matters is we get to the rooftop, NOW" Natsu answered her without even looking back.
The PA system started again, "This is an emergency announcement. ALL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ARE TO STAY IN THEIR ROOMS. I REPEAT, STUDENTS AND TEA- HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HEY! HEY!" The announcer was now shouting frantically. Natsu stopped, carried Rei bridal style, and started sprinting. "HEY! CRASH CRASH. OUCH OUCH. STOP. STOP. DON'T. IT HURTS. AAAAA-" The PA system cut-off. Chaos. As soon as the announcement cut-off, every person in the school started to panic. Moving out of their seats, some leaving the rooms, teachers trying to get their students to calm down.
By this time, Natsu and Rei was in the stairwell, Natsu never dropping his speed along the way.
Please, let them be there. Natsu thought as he kicked open the rooftop's door. Rei who was still in his arms had gone silent. The two of them made their way towards the observatory.
Good. Natsu thought as he saw that the stairwell that went up towards the observatory was blocked.
"Komuro, Hisashi. It's me and Rei" he called out,
"Natsu, wait a second" Komuro replied, and the barricaded started moving a bit, opening a space that Rei and Natsu could walk through.
As soon as the two were through, Komuro resealed the barricade. Natsu had noticed that Hisashi was not here. Natsu dropped Rei, gently of course, to the ground. Natsu turned towards Komuro.
"Where's Hisashi?" he asked,
"Uhh, we made it up here, and we made the barricade. However when he heard the PA announcement, he said. We'll need to defend ourselves. He went down to find anything that can be used" Komuro replied, his voice cracking.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The three of them snapped their heads towards the courtyard.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Screams filled the entire campus. They looked down, and saw hell. People eating people. Getting torn apart, limb from limb. Eaten alive. It was carnage. Rei couldn't take anymore, and she went back to her spot, and tried to control her puke.
Natsu saw this and went away from the railing, and went near Rei. Komuro stayed and watched.
"Come on now. We'll get through this I promise" Natsu said, patting Rei's back. Rei couldn't hold her emotions in check anymore, and hugged Natsu and started crying. They stayed like this for a couple of minutes when Komuro cleared his throat.
"Natsu, you might want to look at this" Komuro said pointing towards the direction of the city.
Natsu stood up from his spot, leaving a gentle kiss on Rei's forehead to calm her down.
To say that Natsu was shocked was an understatement. How could it turn like this in a matter of minutes, the city, was, what's the word, HELL. Building's burning, explosions popping out here and then. Sirens flooded the air. Natsu could only imagine what was going on inside the city. If it was this bad inside a school campus of 5,000 students, what more in a city of 50,000 thousand residents.
"Check your phones. Call your families" Natsu told the two as he realized that the parents of the Rei and Komuro were in danger.
"Shit. No Service. Calls aren't getting through. Fuck" Komuro sweared, tapping on his phone's keypad rapidly and repeatedly.
"Same here" Rei muttered, Natsu checked his and found the same results.
"Wait! There's this number my father gave me to call in case of emergency" Rei said, and quickly typed away on her phone.
"I got through" she said, she turned her phone on speaker mode.
"Rei" a voice said through her speaker, it was Rei's dad.
"Father, father, what's going on? Are you okay? Are you safe?" Rei rapidly asked,
"Rei, ar-e y-ou s-fe. Who's w-th y-o?" the call started cutting-off, "BANG BANG" gunshots were heard in the background.
"I'm safe. I'm with Natsu and Komuro" Rei replied, the girl was in the verge of tears. Natsu was doing his best to comfort the young Miyamoto.
"Natsu, get o-t o-f th c-ty. K-ep h-e s-a-f-e…" the call got disconnected, but Natsu heard it loud and clear.
"What do we do now?" Komuro asked,
Before anyone could answer, the barricade started making noises. The three instantly got on their guard. Natsu motioned the two to stay back, he slowly crept up towards the barricade. It was rattling, like someone was pushing against it. He peeked at a small hole, it was a person. It was literally WAS a person. A Zombie.
Shit. Natsu thought, he turned back towards Rei and Komuro and motioned the shhh sign.
He looked around, and saw a fire extinguisher by the wall. The zombie was still pushing against the barricade. Sure, one was no threat, but the noise could attract more.
Natsu went up to the roof of the observatory, crept up on the other side of the barricade. He was directly on top the zombie.
Shu Johzenji. He saw the ID of the student now zombie.
He dropped the fire extinguisher on its head.
The problem got taken care of. The extinguisher squished its head, and the body fell to the ground with a thud.
Natsu went back towards the two, went near them and whispered.
"We need to be silent" Natsu said to them, "Do you hear that?" he asked them again. Rei and Komuro only looked at him in confusion.
"Helicopters" he said in realization and turned around.
Fast approaching them was four black hawk choppers of the Japan Self Defense Force.
Rei and Komuro started waving their arms around, flagging down the four aircraft.
"They're not here for us. Save your strength" Natsu simply said to them. True enough, the four Black Hawks just passed them.
Looks like I'll be revealing my secret to get through this. What a life.
"Guys" he said, and motioned Rei and Komuro to approach him.
"Don't freak out okay?" he said, the two just nodded in confusion.

A/N: Few things to clarify. Rei and Komuro have like a sibling bond here. Also, Natsu during this chapter is collected and rational. as he knows the seriousness of the situation
