April 2012
"Teal'c!" Sam greeted, almost giddily as she stood at the end of the gate ramp, as Teal'c stepped through the event horizon. "I missed you," she proclaimed taking the hug that was offered to her.
"As have I," Teal'c agreed holding Sam in his arms. "I am very pleased that I could be present for GraceO'Neill and AlexandraJackson's birthday party."
"Can you believe they're a year old?" She asked, almost in disbelief, as she linked arms with Teal'c, and the two began to walk towards the changing rooms.
"How are the rest of the children?" Teal'c asked looking at his friend.
"You should see them," Sam bubbled. "Gracie, is, the light of my life. She's growing and changing everyday, she's basically Jack with my hair. She likes to talk, and plays with her blocks, before destroying her creation. She laughs just like Jack. Lukas is huge, and may look like Daniel, but is Vala. Lexie is looking more like Vala every day, and Cam's three, I've never seen him so tired, but they're adorable. The boys, they look alike, and Libby," Sam continued to talk to Teal'c as he changed, filling him in on the children that now ruled SG-1's lives.
As Teal'c listened, his heart swelled with joy and pride. After eleven years on active duty, he was proud of every moment that personal lives started to take priority. Watching Daniel and Vala grow, and become parents, to Sam and Jack finally coming to terms with their feelings, and the struggles to become parents to their only child. And Cameron, who was driven for adventure, settle down, but still the only one who was still on off world duty. He was privileged to watch his team grow already, but this, this timeline was 1000% better.
By the time the two arrived at the O'Neill house, it was already decorated for the birthday party for both Gracie and Lexie. Sam and Jack had celebrated Grace's birthday privately when she turned one, but decided to throw a larger birthday party for both girls later in the month. The house was already busy, with Jack trying to finish setting up, Daniel chasing Lukas as the little boy toddled around pulling at the decorations, Vala attempting to get both girls dressed, while Cameron and Penny tended to their three babies.
"T, my man," Jack greeted. "Grab a kid," he gestured grabbing Grace from the floor, and handing her to him. Teal'c smiled at the young girl in his arms, who slapped both her hands onto his cheeks.
"Are we expecting any more children?" Teal'c asked as he put Grace down and took the little boy that Cameron offered.
"Just a few more from play group," Jack replied, as he stopped and held up his hands. "Ack."
"What is it O'Neill?"
"I've become that guy," he grumbled. "Playgroups, diapers, gymnastics at the Flipshack, playdates, BabiesRUs..."
"Took you a year to realise huh?" Daniel grinned as held Lukas upside down, shrieking with laughter. The adults all laughed as Lukas' laughter incited laughter in the girls, and the triplets smiling. The house was soon filled with more children than Jack ever imagined it would be. But by 1pm, the house was quiet, Cameron and Penny took their children home due to crying, Grace and Alexandra were sound asleep in Grace's room, and Lukas passed out with Dash in the master bedroom.
"I never imagined this would be our life," Daniel said with a smile as he finally sat on the couch, looking at his friends.
"You and me both," Sam agreed, as she placed the baby monitor on the coffee table beside her chair. "I never imagined not going of world, once I was introduced to the Stargate."
"And now you're base commander, of the base," Daniel grinned. "Have they decided who is going to take over?"
"Not that I'm aware," Sam shrugged. "I prefer being on base, than on the George Hammond."
"Family," Vala spoke softly. "I always thought I'd be on the run, spending my days and nights in space, exploring other planets. But then I came here, and I knew that I never wanted to leave. Family changes us."
