The next day, I took a deep breath, and knocked on the door, of Music room number three. I'll let you know right now, it is not easy for a first year male student to walk up to a clubroom full of men. That alone would raise rumors, but I continued on my way. Three knocks did it, and upon opening the door, the scent of rose petals wafted in the air. It was quite invigorating. I walked in, to see the entire club sitting patiently. "Welcome." They all greeted in unison. I saw them all as if waiting for the first client. In any case, I was the first through the door. It wasn't that surprising to see Tamaki's face drop to surprise. His face burned. He seemed overly bashful at the thought of having a male client. Even though every impulse told me to turn and run, I trotted forward, and gave a slight bow.
"Yuki-chan!" I was immediately attacked in a small hug. Honey Senpai wasted no time remembering me. "He's the one Tama-chan! The one I told you about that made all those cool drawings." He took my hand. "I'm so happy that you decided to come back. Something deep inside told me that you would." He dragged a pink bunny plush in his other hand as he pulled me toward the center of the room.
Mori Senpai slowly walked behind Tamaki handing him the sketchbook. "The ones we showed you yesterday."
Another that had thick black hair adjusted his glasses. "Yuki Nakajima. A member of the Nakajima family. They own a chain of arts and craft stores. Very high status here, but not the most social student of the school."
The twins tilted their heads in opposite directions. "A boy?" One of them stated openly. The other rebounded off of that. "I know right?"
Perhaps this was going off the rails. They seemed to get an idea that I was requesting a fawning, instead of a position. Haruhi being the hero he was spoke next. "Being a boy has nothing to do with being a client. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have any trouble attending to him." A strong blush swept over my face. This wasn't truly happening, was it? Did they really have interest in attending to me? The minute Haruhi volunteered to be my host, Tamaki froze up looking very upset at the thought.
I decided to play their little game. "Actually, I was hoping to speak to you." I pointed straight at Tamaki. He looked actually puzzled, but seemed like he could handle it.
"V...very well."
I could hardly believe that this was working. They had all genuinely thought I was a gay student that was looking for some boy fun. In any case, I had gotten first dibs on the Host Club's King. He pointed at the dark haired one with the glasses. "Write me down for session with..." He turned to face me. "What was it again?"
"Yuki." I responded raising a white eyebrow. With that he was writing me down, for one evening with Tamaki. If this proposal went to plan, I could work off his client charge with a few hostings of my own. He walked me over to a couch, and crossed his legs. I decided to speak first. "You're nervous." I said in a hushed tone. I slowly grinned. "There's no reason to be."
He was shaking in his boots. Regardless of the situation, it was almost cute. "W-w-well... I've never been a host for a boy before." He said holding the tea pot. You could hear it clattering in his grasp.
"Neither have I" I shrugged casually. It was time. "I'll be frank with you, Tamaki. I didn't come here to let you make me swoon. I came here to request a spot in your club. Honey Senpai was actually on to something, and I figured "why not?"
He put the tea pot, down. Tamaki looked even more shocked than before. "You didn't have to ask me to host you, just to get a spot, ya know!"
I grinned with a chuckle. "I figured it was a creative way to get your attention. Besides, everybody was jumping to conclusions. You really thought I was just waltzing in as a client? Well if I was... " My face grew a bit serious. "...you shouldn't treat me like I'm such a chore to host." It sort of hurt seeing him having a difficult time to welcome me. When Haruhi was new apparently he took him as a gay student and client, and even attempted to make him feel welcome. Perhaps he had that short pretty boy demeanor Tamaki felt comfortable with.
Haruhi walked over. "You did sort of make him feel like he wasn't welcome as a client." He sat down next to me. "So you wanna be a host?" I respond with two nods. "Well, I'm free. If you need a rundown, I could give you a few tips." When Haruhi offered to tutor me, Tamaki was close to experiencing a meltdown.
"You can't train him! He wants to be trained by me! I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN TRAIN THE NEW MEMBERS, SINCE I'M THE KING!" I was severely taken aback as he was not happy on sharing Haruhi. Perhaps Tamaki was gay for Haruhi, and wanted to keep him all to himself. "Everybody move aside!" He took my forearm dragging me to his area of the room. "Come on we have a lot of work to do." I let him lead me, though something would tell me that entertaining young ladies wasn't all I would be doing in this club. I knew that more than likely I would be going through a ton of work to make Tamaki more happy, than anybody else. One thing was for sure. I sure wouldn't be finishing that painting tonight.
