Chapter 5: The Wheel of Fate is Turning
"Ok then Aisha that will conclude your sign-out paperwork. I hope you feeling better now." said the receptionist at the front desk.
"Yes I'm feeling much better now, thank you" I responded with a smile.
"Wonderful~" responded the receptionist. "Take care and may your next visit be on better terms than the last."
I smiled and waved as I turned to meet my friends at the door and walk out of the hospital.
"Well now with that over, how about we go get some lunch huh?" suggested Rena as she gave us a wink.
"You know... lunch does sound like a great idea but I'm a little short on funds" I responded.
"Nonsense Aisha." Eve quickly butted in. "Don't worry about it. It's our treat, right Rena?"
"Right~" she responded with a spirited fist pump.
With that, we all took a taxi mid town till we arrived at Fridays.
When we walked in the door, I was slapped in the face by the smell of a Jack Daniels glazed steak, fresh off the grill. "Aww man, that...smells…amazing" i said as i began to daydream about it.
"Hi there ladies, is it just you three today?" Asked the greeter when we reached him.
"Gurgle gurgle!" When my stomach, as if it was answering for us. 'Aaack! I hope no one heard that?'
"Hahaha, I guess that will be a yes then." laughed the waiter as my face was red from embarrassment. "Hehe, I'll take you to your seats then. Right this way ladies." He says as he leads us to a nice booth by the window. "There you are ladies. I'll send the waiter over ASAP for you miss~" he said as he gave us a wink and walked away.
"Hehe, good job with the gurgling stomach Aisha." Joked Rena as she gave me a playful elbow. "We might even get our food quicker now thanks to you~"
"Well in my defense, I haven't eaten anything since I've been kidnapped ok?" I said as I layed back in the booth. Rena and eve both laughed as I sat back up. "Ok enough laughing at me." I cried.
"So Rena, how was your date hmm?"
"Uwah?" went Rena as I watched her face begin to get red. "Hehe and how was your date with Chung Eve? Did everything go well?" I asked her as a devious smile crawled across my face. I laughed as i watched her face get red.
"I-i-it wasn't a d-date Aisha!" She tried to protest. "It was just a…just a..."
"Get together?" I added for her as I grinned at her sheepishly.
"Y-yeah, that's what it was!" Exclaimed Eve as she had her finger pointed upright, while beaming brightly. "Just a get together."
"Right..." I responded cynically. "So how do you explain that hickey on your neck there Eve?"
I watched and laughed out loud as I watched miss "no emotions" turn into all shades of red as she held the left side of her neck.
"I THOUGHT YOU SAID NO ONE WOULD NOTICE RENA!?" Eve shrieked at Rena.
"Well it's not that noticeable to me..." chuckled Rena as she smiled with her eyes closed; a bead of sweat forming on the side of her face. I nearly fell out the chair laughing. I was just playing around but I didn't expect it to be true. 'Way to go Chung~'
"Should I come back ladies? You seem busy" said the waiter. "No no we're ready to order" I answered for the group. We all agreed on ginger ale for our drinks. I ended up getting bruschetta chicken pasta while Rena and eve each got the Jack Daniels burger. With that, the waiter went to go put in our orders.
I looked over my outfit my friends had picked out for me, consisting of white sneakers, purple sweats and a purple hoodie. In contrast my friends were dressed in much more appealing clothing. Rena was wearing a cream sleeveless blouse and a black tank top which cradled the envy of every girl in school, myself included sometimes; all of this she covered in a light green wind breaker. With it, she wore a frilly light green skirt that had a black stripe around the rim. With it she wore some black tights with them along with some black boots. Eve was wearing a burgundy coat which fit her figure quite nicely. With that she wore a brown skirt and coffee colored tights and burgundy shoes. I couldn't help but notice the waiter checking out my friends as he brought us back our drinks. We thanked him kindly as he blushed and walked off to his other tables. "Ok then Rena." I said while turning my attention towards her. "So tell me what happened on your date." I watched as she fidgeted and blushed.
"Well..." she started to say. "After about twenty minutes or so we decided to go inside."
"I see." I replied. "Well if I was in your shoes id do the same thing." I said as I closed my eyes and smiled.
"Pffft! Don't believe that Aisha." Eve interjected. "We waited for all of two minutes before she dragged us all inside.
"Twenty minutes huh?" I said as I stared daggers in Rena's direction.
"Well it felt like twenty minutes. Hahaha..." laughed Rena as a huge bead of sweat formed on the side of her face while she tried to chuckle off her shortcomings.
"Right...so anyways, what movie did you guys end up watching?"
"Oh we went to watch that new horror flick." said Eve. "Though, in my opinion it was hardly even scary."
"Oh really now?" Replied Rena slyly as she squinted at Eve. "Because from where I was sitting, it looked like you were screaming your little head off and hiding your face in Chung's arm."
"Really now?" I chimed in. "So you were getting busy huh?"
"P-preposterous!" stammered Eve as she tried to protest. "And besides, weren't you the one hanging all over Raven's arm first?"
Rena's cheeks instantly flushed at the statement. "S-so? At least I'm not ashamed of it like you are." Eve, as flushed as ever, just glared daggers at her.
"Well anyways you don't have any proof of it so hmmph!" Pouted Eve as she turned her head to the side, her cheeks flushed still of red.
"I beg to differ..." replied Rena as she pulled her phone out. "I just so managed to snag this little gem in the thick of it all. Here Aisha have a look."
"E-excuse me?" questioned Eve as she turned her attention to us.
"Oh my!" I exclaimed as I saw the sight. It was little miss "no emotions" face first in Chung's arm; terror written all over her face as she had a slight tear in the corners of her eye. It was a rather nice picture, capturing the moment perfectly. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. "Wow Eve, that's so bold of you~" I teased. I was shocked to see the girl's face so red.
"H-h-how'd you get that!?" She shrieked. Me and Rena both started laughing at miss poker face's stoic demeanor crumble to pieces at the sight of a little picture.
"O-oh yes, laugh it up!" scolded Eve, still as red as ever. "I got something for you miss paparazzi!" She said as she pulled out her own phone.
"Oh my!" I said as I stopped in between my laughter to witness the picture.
"Aaack!" shrieked Rena as she saw the picture. It was a picture of her, even more terrified than Eve. She had tears in her eyes as she was pulling on a disheveled raven's arm. Honestly she looked really adorable in this picture, but Rena didn't seem to think so, as her face was just as red as Eve's now.
"H-how'd you get that!?" She asked.
"I asked you first!" replied Eve.
"Well I don't care! Delete it!" yelled Rena as she puffed her cheeks, her face still as red as ever.
"Then you delete yours!" Eve shouted back, her cheeks just as puffed as Rena's.
"No way! This is extremely rare footage!" cried Rena.
"My sentiments exactly!" responded Eve. "I wonder how much your fan boys would pay for this picture?" smiled Eve menially as she waved her phone in front of Rena.
"Aaaaack don't do that!" she cried as she tried to make a pass at the phone. Eve saw this coming and quickly pulled it out of reach. "Now now Rena, I thought you said you weren't ashamed to admit clinging to raven?" She said snidely.
"B-but not telling the whole school damn it!" cried Rena.
"So, delete the picture!" shouted Eve!
"No!" cried Rena
"Yes!" Eve shouted back
"Noooo!" Rena wailed.
"Yes!" Eve continued to shout.
This went on for a bit as the two growled at each other, fists planted on the table and their cheeks puffed up as they pouted themselves into a stalemate. They looked like to blushing blowfishes. I was laughing so hard that I nearly fell out my seat.
"And just what do you think is so funny Aisha?" they both turned and asked me in unison.
I was laughing so hard I nearly fell out of my seat. I felt the daggers as I felt their stares stab into me as i looked up at them.
"And just what do you think is so funny hmm Aisha?" They both asked in unison. Their faces were still puffed up so I laughed some more. "Aisha... do you want to go back to the hospital again~? "Rena asked as her ominous aura began to envelope the table.
"Now now ladies lets have none of that." said our waiter as he came with our food. 'I'm saved!' I thought to myself as Rena's doom aura dissolved as he placed her food down. The food was really good as we all dug in. I nearly ate the plate as I finished the dish and sat back in my seat.
"Now Aisha, it's our turn for some revenge~" said Rena as she gave me her ominous smile. I gulped and shivered at the sight. "So Aisha, I noticed something when Miss Elesis was interrogating you."
Noticed something?" I replied. 'What on earth is she talking about'?
"I noticed that you began to blush profusely as Miss Elesis questioned you on your escape and that blanket. You noticed it too right eve?" Rena turned to eve who had recovered from her pouting fit to join in their unified assault.
"Yes Aisha. There seems to be more of that story with that blanket than you're letting on..." insinuated eve as she stared into my eyes.
"W-what! No! There's nothing!" I shouted all flustered. I pouted as my so called friends laughed at me.
"Well that sure tells us a lot." stated eve.
"So this crimson mask fella that saved you... was he cute?" asked Rena as her face beamed with curiosity.
"N-n-no..." I stammered while looking down.
"So i take form your expression that he was pretty cute huh~" she teased some more. I couldn't argue with her about it my face was already blushing so... I must really think he was cute then.
"Alright alright, he was cute. So what of it?" I asked as I turned my attention back to her.
"Really?" Beamed Rena, her deviousness now turned curiosity. "So what was he like?"
"Yes Aisha, I would really like to hear more about your hero now as well." Interjected Eve as she smile with her face full of interest. I sighed as I was attacked on both fronts and smiled as i surrendered. I sat back into my booth as I tried to recall the details about crimson.
"Well...he had crimson red hair...kind of like Miss Elesis this afternoon." I stated as I looked up at the ceiling. "He was wearing a half vest and...Well he was quite toned." I stated as I remained him, not noticing the blush sneaking back onto my face again. "He was a little taller than me but I couldn't see his face, due to him wearing a mask and all.
"Tall and toned huh?" started Eve while she began to smirk. "Sounds like he would be handsome."
"I suppose..." I trailed off while looking away. "Although he was kind of scary when he fought off the thugs..."
"Scary?" asked Rena. "What do you mean?"
"Well...his magical power...it was really powerful for lack of a better word. They couldn't touch him as he dodged all their attacks with ease and his magic... it felt as if he was holding back. He even impaled the lead thug when he tried to kill me. I'm surprised he wasn't split in two by the sheer force of his magic."
"Oh my... he's that powerful?" asked Rena. I simply nodded my head in response. "Yeah...I think he could easily surpass the teachers here in magic class easily."
"Stronger than the instructors you say?" questioned Eve. "I guess that would be pretty frightening."
"Yeah I guess... but he didn't stay scary though." I replied. "After he dealt with the thugs he was all gentlemanly, caring, apologetic..."
"And cute~?" interjected Rena. 'They're just going to keep this up aren't they?' I asked myself as I looked down trying to hide my face. Why am I even fighting this? He was cute...especially how bashful he was when he was untying me... I didn't even notice the smile creep across my face and my thoughts were running away with me again.
"So i take it you're thinking of him now huh Aisha?~" teased Eve. I tried to stay silent but that proved futile. My face said it all.
"So when will you see him again Aisha?" Rena asked as she looked at me?
"I don't know..." I responded with a hint of disappointment.
"Awww..." responded Rena. "Well how come?"
"Well..." I began to reply as I recalled that scene. "When I asked if I would be able to see him again he got all serious and told me not to get involved...but I'm not sure why though. I just remember him being really adamant about me not getting involved..."
"Hmm..." sighed Eve as she rested her fist under her chin. "Well whatever it was, it's obvious that he was trying to protect you Aisha. But in all truthfulness Aisha, it would probably be in your best interest not to pursue anything about this Crimson Mask any further."
I let out a small sigh. 'I figured she'd say that...' I thought to myself as I stared at the table.
"Pfft! Don't listen to miss party pooper over there!" said Rena as she patted my shoulder. "This is the first time I've actually seen you show interest in a boy and I want to see you succeed~"
"I never said that I was interested in him!" I pouted at her.
"Your face says otherwise you know~" teased Rena as she giggled at my blushing. "But in all seriousness Aisha, the next time you see him, don't let him go ok? From what you told me I got a good feeling about this guy~"
"Pssh" I scoffed at her comment. "You sound just like a mother giving her daughter dating advice." Rena giggled at the comment and smiled.
"Well that's because you are my daughter~" she laughed again.
"Well that's rich!" I laughed at her. "If that's the case, then who's the father hmm? Raven?" I asked jokingly.
"Oh heavens no." laughed Rena as she rested her hand on her chest. "Eve's your father of course~?"
"Pfffffffft! Uwweh!?" went Eve as the news just made it to her ears, causing her to spit out the remainder of her drink she was sipping at the time. Rena and I burst out into laughter at the sight before us just as the waiter came back with the check.
"Well I'm glad you ladies had fun today." he smiled as he saw our smiling faces until he came upon eves, in which he couldn't help but chuckle. This earned him a glare from the silverette.
"Hehe sorry, I'll get you some napkins. You can take care of the bill whenever you're ready." With that, Eve gave him her card and Rena took care of the tip. And with that we went outside to catch a cab back to the dorms.
"Thank you sir" said Eve as she paid the driver. "No problem ladies." smiled the driver. "You girls take care now." said the cabbie as he drove off. Rena yawned and stretched her arms out.
"Well girls I think I'm gonna go back to my room for the night."
"Yeah I think I'm gonna do the same as well." said Eve as she pulled out her key. "Well I'm glad your back home Aisha. I'll see you tomorrow for homeroom."
"Ok then Eve. Thanks for everything today." I said as I waved to her goodbye.
"Not a problem Aisha." she replied and with that she opened the door to her dorm and went inside.
"Well see you tomorrow Aisha." said Rena as she smiled and waved good bye as she opened the door to her room.
'Well, at least I'm finally home.' I thought to myself as I turned the key. 'I wonder how Angkor has been? He must've been worried sick.' I turned the door and walked inside, expecting Angkor to fly over and greet me, but I received no such greeting. 'Well that's odd...' I thought to myself. 'You would think that he'd be all over me by now, especially since I was gone for so long.' I sat down on my bed as I rested my bag on the edge of the bed as bent over to untie my sneakers.
"Zzzz...zzz..."
'Huh?...what was that? I asked myself as I sat back up and surveyed the room. My eye caught a glimpse of my dresser drawer open. 'That's strange? Why would I leave that open?' I thought to myself as i kicked off my shoes and walked towards it. The closer I got to the dresser, them I could hear some snoring.
"Ai...zzz...sha...zzz..." I heard some sleep talking coming from the open drawer. "Angkor? Is that you?" I asked as I arrived at the drawer.
"Soo...soft...zzz…" I heard as more snoring was coming from the drawer. I peered inside an instantly a vein throb on my forehead. I peered into my drawer to see the purple and white bat nuzzled quite peacefully inside one of my good bras, not to mention a pair of my favorite panties was on top of his head.
"Ang…kor…." I said loud enough to stir him from his slumber. I wanted him to be awake when I let him have it. The little bat slowly stirred from its slumber as it wearily opened his eyes and looked up at me.
"Aish…sha…chi-EEEEEK!" he squealed as I grabbed him by his face and pulled him from the drawer.
"I nearly died this weekend, and I come home to find you sleeping…in my PANTIES DRAWER!?" I yelled as I shook him furiously.
"Gaaah! I'm sorry-chi!" Angkor wailed as flailed in my grasp. "I'm...aah...soor...aaahh...rreeeeey...oww!" Angkor wailed as I shook him. "I ...really...ow! Was...worried...aah!...About...you...ah ow!"
"Is that you're lounging in my underwear drawer!?" I yelled at him while I shook him some more. "Why didn't you come save me!? Didn't you sense that I was in danger!? I could've died this weekend!" Angkor was almost putty at this point so I stopped shaking and pulled him up to my face as I glared at him; my face insinuating that his explanation for his actions had better be a good one.
"W-well Aisha-chi..." the familiar began. "I did sense your aura in great distress over here, and I was about to go find you..."
"But?..." I inserted impatiently. This all sounded like groveling to me. "What stopped you from coming to find me huh?" I watched as the bat kind of looked around the room, as he was trying to concoct some kind of believable answer.
"Well um... you did Aisha-chi" Angkor responded weakly. My eyebrow twitched as I was met with such a ridiculous answer. "What do you mean I did? I was bound and gagged, and they were about to drown me in the river! What do you mean I told you not to come?" I didn't realize I was slowly strangling him until he started squealing again. "Aaack! Sorry!" I apologized as I eased up on my grip. The little bat gasped as he sucked in air. "As you were." I commanded him to continue. "So you're saying that I told you not to come save me?"
"Well not exactly" he started. "Just when your aura was in a state of despair and diminishing, this large...fiery aura overlapped yours and engulfed it a few minutes. The aura was indeed powerful, however there was no malicious intent coming from it so I waited..."
"So...my aura...was engulfed...and I was gone you say?" I said as I tried to paraphrase his explanation to the best of what he told me.
"Yeah…" he responded. "Then, as quickly as you disappeared, you reappeared again, this time you were inside the other aura... as if it was cradling you."
"Cradling you say?" I asked him curiously.
"Yes…" he responded. "It then became very protective as your aura shifted from despair and into peace as it surrounded you. And slowly it began to rise more and more as the night went on."
"As the night went on huh?" I said as I thought out loud. 'So I guess if he was here monitoring me this whole time, I guess he didn't really have to come find me once I was safe.' I thought to myself as I closed my eyes and smiled but then something very basic just hit me when I came to that conclusion. "But as noble as your intentions were, they still don't explain what you were doing sleeping in my underwear drawer!"
"W-well…" stuttered Angkor as he fidgeted in uncertainty again. "I needed a soft spot to meditate on and that place puts me at ease." he said as his face had a tinge of pink to it. I growled as I saw this; a vein throbbed on my forehead.
"Raaaaaaggh! " I yelled as my rage took over again. "Stay out of my undergarments!" I screamed as I chucked the bat as he wailed through the air and landed on my bed.
"Nice throw Aisha-chi, but did you have to throw me so hard?" the asked as he made himself comfortable on the bed. Seeing that my throwing him hadn't produced the effect I was hoping for, I threw up my hands in frustration.
"You know what? I'm done!" I exclaimed. Angkor obviously wasn't as annoyed and angry at the situation as I was so why continue to be bent out of shape about it? I lied down on the bed, nearly squashing the pervert of a bat as I stretched out and closed my eyes. I felt the pervert crawl onto my stomach and made himself comfortable. I was going to send him flying again but the bed was too comfortable as I felt my mind begin to drift.
'Well, I guess my adventure is finally over now…' I thought to myself as my body got more relaxed. As I lied there, I began to recap the events of the whole weekend. 'Well I'm glad Rena and Eve's dates went well… even though I was hoping for something to happen myself… No wait a minute Aisha. Something did happen to you as well. I smiled as that thought came back to me oh how that boy crashed through the ceiling on top of an ethereal blade. Crimson Mask… I wonder what you're doing now…
"Yeah Aisha-chi, me too." I heard Angkor say. "He seemed like a nice fellow to me." I felt myself wake up from his out of the box remark that seemed to go along with the thought I just conceived in my head.
"What do you mean nice fellow?" I asked as I regained consciousness. "How do you know Crimson?" The little bat flapped his wings as he repositioned himself on my lap as I sat up abruptly.
"Don't you remember?" He asked me. I shook my head no as he looked at me with a dumbfounded look. "Well I met him in your dream this morning right before you woke up today. He seems like he would be a perfect match for you too."
"W-whaaat!?" I shouted in response to his comment. "How the heck would you know that?"
"Well, besides the fact that you turn bright red at the sheer mention of his name...like you are now." he teased as wore a playful smirk.
"I-I do not!" I replied as i turned my head trying to hide my face which was most likely red by now.
"But anyways, from what i saw, he was caring attentive, and powerful...a perfect prince for a void princess I'd say." Angkor said as he beamed in approval of Crimson.
I scoffed at his comment. "Don't I have some say in who I choose for my boyfriend, let alone a prince?"
"What's there to say?" He said back. "You already like him."
"But i only met him once..." I replied.
"Sometimes once is all it takes." Angkor said with a smile. I pouted at his comment because, truth be told, there was some truth to it. As ironic as it sounded, I did like crimson, even if I had only met him once.
"So how did you get into my dreams again? Especially, since I wasn't even here." I asked Angkor. 'All of this mind reading stuff is like an invasion of privacy.'
"I wasn't really invading your privacy Aisha-chi." said Angkor as he replied to my thoughts.
"What the hell Angkor, you just did it again!"
"Whups. Sorry Aisha-chi." He apologized. "but what I did was take a look at a dream you were weaving when I was checking up on your aura again."
"Dream...weaving?" I asked him with a puzzled look.
"Yes Aisha-chi, dream weaving." He replied. "It's a skill that only powerful magicians can pull off, so pat yourself on the back Aisha-chi. It's when a mage can literally construct a dream world for their targets."
I gave Angkor a sarcastic look as I tried to figure out what I would ever use a skill like dream weaving for, not to mention how I used a skill I never knew before.
"I heard that you know." said Angkor. "But don't worry; you'll be a fully fledged void princess when I'm through with you. But for now, I'm just glad you're home." He said as he snuggled onto my chest. I smiled at his comment and hugged the little bat as I, myself was happy to be safe at home. As I layed there, thoughts of this weekend's events began to flutter through my mind as I was drifting off to dreamland.
'Dream weaving huh… I didn't know I was capable of something like that.' I paused in my thought as I let out a yawn. 'But what in the world would a skill like that be useful? All these thoughts and more raced thru my mind as I closed my eyes. My thoughts raced thru my head as they revolved around the events of this weekend. 'I wonder why those thugs were at Echo's store in the first place. It didn't seem like a regular old robbery... I wonder what they really wanted with you. I guess I can ask you that tomorrow or so. And crimson...just who are you anyways?' I let out a little yawn as the sleep was creeping up on me. 'I hope we see each other again...' I thought as a smile crept across my face and with that thought I dozed off to dreamland.
Later that night…
"Ok then Amy, it looks like it's going to be an easy night." said Ariel as slid on her pocketbook as she greeted the receptionist for the night shift. "I guess I'll be heading home now."
"Ok then Ariel, drive safely." said Amy as she waved good night to the doctor.
'What an odd weekend…' thought Ariel as she walked towards her car. Upon reaching her car, a sleek limousine pulls into the parking lot. 'It's rather late for visitors to come to the hospital, especially since visiting hours are over now.' She thought as she watched the limousine pull up in a parking spot close to her car. Intrigued, the doctor waits to see who will come out of the limousine. A tall man in a suit comes out of the driver's seat and goes to the back seat of the car and opens it. An old man in a brown pinstriped suit slowly exits the vehicle and straightens himself up.
'An old man…' she thought to herself as the old man hobbled out of the vehicle. While she was staring and wondering why an old and seemingly rich man was at the hospital so late at night, the old man's eyes met with hers and for a brief second, the old man waved at the doctor.
'Oh crap, he saw me.' She thought as she waved back instinctively. "Sorry about that sir." She began as she called out to them. "It just that it's pretty late and visiting hours is over now so I assume that you need some medical help tonight?" she asked as she walked over to the old man and his driver. As she got closer to them, she got a better look at the old man, revealing that he was none other than the Mayor of the city, Mayor Wally.
"Oh wow, the mayor?" said Dr Ariel in disbelief as to why the mayor of Elder village would be out here so late at night. "It's a pleasant surprise, really. But why are you here so late?" The mayor just simply chuckled and smiled at her question.
"Yes, it is rather late for me isn't it?" said Wally as he closed his eyes and I had a long meeting this evening and I literally just got off. I wanted to visit my dear old friend in the hospital here… but you said that visiting hours are now closed right?"
Ariel nodded in agreement. "Yes mayor, the visiting hours are now over. So with all due respect… what are you doing here so late? Is everything ok? Are you hurt?" The doctor asked with concern.
"Oh no, no, I'm perfectly fine." Replied Wally as he continued to smile. "But a dear friend of mines, he's actually been admitted here recently and I wanted to give him a gift. But according to you I can't see him now right?"
"I-I'm sorry mayor." A flustered Ariel said as she waved her arms defensively. "But unfortunately the policy is iron clad; I couldn't permit you even if I wanted to. But if you like, I can drop it off for you inside if you wish me to?" Wally just chuckled like a jolly old man as he waved his hand no. "I'm sorry miss. As much as I'd like to leave it with you, my friend you see... he's what you'd call an eccentric playwritter."
"Eccentric?" Ariel asked with a puzzled look. Wally smiled as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face. "Yes and paranoid too. He only lets me review his work actually. He's been trying to get this piece published for quite some time now but it was in desperate need of editing you see." Ariel chuckled at the story.
"Desperate need huh?" She said as she smiled. "Yes child, desperate." smiled the mayor. "So as a gift, I got his manuscript all edited for him. I even got him a publisher willing to look at it too. But since I can't see him now I guess I'll just have to come back tomorrow or so..." Ariel's smile turned upside down as she began to feel bad. "Yeah, sorry about that sir but even the mayor isn't except from the rules."
"Hehe, it's not your fault child, I understand. Rules are rules after all." He responded as he waved his hand no. "But say I can still use the bathroom inside right? I left in such a hurry that I forgot to go on my way out."
"Oh yes certainly. Go right ahead." She exclaimed as gestured him to pass. "Thanks, and take care on your way home doctor." Said Wally as he nodded his head and walked on past her. Ariel stayed until the mayor walked inside the building before turning back and headed to her car. 'What a nice old man…' she thought as she opened the door to her car and turned on the ignition. 'Doing all of that for his friend~."
"Why hello there miss...um Amy." The old man said as he looked at her nametag. Amy smiled as she greeted the old man; unbeknownst to her she was speaking to Mayor Wally.
"So how can I help you tonight sir?" She asked in a pleasant tone.
"Well I'm here to visit a friend and drop down some orders." Responded the old man as he stuffed his hand into his jacket as if he was searching for something.
"Orders and visiting a friend?" She asked in a puzzled tone. "From who? With all due respect sir, it's after 12am."she said as she shot him a bewildered look as she looked at the times for visiting hours which ended at 10pm and it was now it was past 12am.
"I'm terribly sorry sir." said Amy as she began to explain to the old man in front of her that visiting hours are over for today.
"Oh yes, I know that Miss Amy. I just had a chat with Dr Ariel before I came in here tonight about it."
"You did?" asked the confused receptionist.
"Yes I did." responded the cheery old man.
"I see…" Amy responded as she probed the validity of the old man's story. She sighed a as she took a breath and looked back at the old man. "Please forgive me, but even you must think that all of this is rather farfetched don't you think?"
"Hehe yeah I know buts its orders from the head of the police department, commander Edan." Wally said as he pulled out a stack of papers and placed them on the desk. "You guys received some injured criminals today right?"
"Y-yeah that's right." The woman replied nervously. Honestly, she was still very skeptical of the whole situation. I mean who wouldn't right?
'Well…his story seems to check out here… she thought to herself as she skimmed though the papers quickly. She looked up from the papers as she saw the old man waiting patiently; his eyes closed and a smile on his face.
"So, did I pass the test?" he asked, seemingly unfazed by all the hoops he had to jump.
"Hehe, yes you did.~" Amy said in a lighter demeanor, relived that she could let her guard down. "I believe Doctor Ariel briefed me about that earlier and that a miss Elesis was supposed to arrive tomorrow, or rather this morning to pick them up to take them to jail." The old man nodded his head as she told him this information.
"Yup and that's why I'm here so late tonight." The old man began. "I can't go into too much detail but the gist of it is that injured criminals need to be taken to a different hospital now. They now want any injured criminals to be in full health before going to jail which is why I'm here to notify you of the transport team on its way here within the next hour to pick them up."
"But…why move them from one hospital to another one…and so abruptly too?" asked Amy as she digested the news. "And what about miss Elesis? Isn't she coming to pick them up tomorrow? I mean if you take them tonight then won't she get in trouble?"
"Budget cuts maybe? That I couldn't tell you." chuckled the old man. "But as for Captain Elesis don't worry, I will inform her first thing in the morning so that she doesn't get in trouble."
"Well if you say so then I guess I'll be expecting some excitement in a little bit." Responded Amy as she checked the clock. "Well other than that, is there anything else I can help you with Mr. uhh…" she began but stuttered just realizing she didn't know the old man's name.
"It's Schmee miss Amy, Officer Schmee." He chuckled as he waved to her. "Well it's been a pleasure but like you said before, it IS late, so I'm gonna go hit the hay. Have a good night now.~" he said as he turned around and walked out of the automated doors.
"Ok then, you too Officer." Replied Amy as she went back to her monitor.
"So, how did everything go Mr. Wally?" replied the driver as he opened the door for the mayor.
"All according to plan. Wally stated as he closed his eyes and relaxed in his leather interior. "Our men will pick up our boys in an hour or so and no ones the wiser thanks to the Commander…"
"Well that's good boss. I'll get you home right away." Replied the driver as he closed his door and started the limo.
'But I do wonder… what the hell happened to our boys to land them in hospital in the first place? I guess I'll find out tomorrow then…'
