She won't let herself admit it, but the fight that ended up with Rachel going away (and slapping the shit off of her) actually made her feel really sad. She was starting to like Rachel and Santana even considered her as a friend.
On the good side, Rachel going away meant that Santana finally had a bed, which was great right now that she is sick, because being sick and spending all day in the uncomfortable couch is awful.
She's sleeping soundly at bed when Kurt get's to the apartment.
"Santana," he says as he open the curtains "hey!"
Kurt reached out to wake her when his hand brushed Santana's forehead. causing him to notice how hot Santana was.
"Santana, wake up" Kurt said, slowly shaking her "Santana!"
"Mom?" Santana sleepily asked. "Mom, i don't feel good."
Kurt laughs at this "Santana, it's me, Kurt." He said "Hey, look at me."
"Oh my god, i feel so sick." She mumbled.
"Of course you do!" Kurt said "Santana, you're burning! Have you taken your temperature?"
"Ughhhh!" Is Santana's response, as she shakes her head vehemently, which only makes her more dizzy.
"I'll go look for the thermometer, stay here."
"I can't go anywhere." She mumbles.
"You have a very high fever." Kurt said while looking at the thermometer.
"God, i'm dying!" Santana says, while wrapping her arms across her stomach and bringing her knees to her chest.
"You're not dying, but this is not good." Kurt replies.
"My stomach hurts so bad!" She cries out, and some actual tears fall from her eyes.
"Hey, no, don't cry!" Kurt says "Does it really hurts that bad?" He's starting to get worried.
"Yes. No." She softly says "No."
"Yes or no?" He asks. "Who would have thought that Santana Lopez was such a baby when she gets sick?"
Kurt spends the rest of his day next to Santana, who can't stop whining. Not that he blames her, since she spent the last 2 hours with her stomach twisting while puking her guts out every ten minutes and her fever has skyrocketed.
He decides that he's going to take her to the doctor in the morning if she doesn't feel better.
By the morning she is anything but better.
Santana doesn't fight back when he's trying to get her to the doctor because she is almost unconscious and can barely walk by herself.
They barely made it to the doctor without her puking on the taxi.
The doctor decided that it was just a virus that was going on and sent her home with some prescriptions for medicine that Kurt would have to pick up later.
Luckily they find a cab in less than ten minutes. Kurt help's Santana in the back seat and sits next to her. She leans on against his shoulder with her eyes closed.
"I wanna go home." She says suddenly.
"We are going home, we'll be there in ten minutes."
"Not here." She says "To my home, in Ohio."
"I thought you didn't want to go back there."
"I always get homesick when i don't feel good." She mumbles "I miss my mom. She always knew how to make me feel better. And my abuela and Brittany and... ouch!" She grimaced in pain. "Kurt..."
"Hey, it's okay." He says soothingly.
She complains when he tries to help her to bed.
"You can't even walk without tripping or bending over in pain!" He says, as he reaches her.
"I'm fine." She says when she get's to the bed.
"No, you're not." Kurt asnwers "Take your shoes off before getting into the bed."
A couple of hours later Kurt goes out to pick up the medicine and some groceries.
After he comes back, he goes to the kitchen to prepare some tea and a toast to give Santana along with the medicine.
He walks to the bedroom, and when he opens the curtain Santana slowly sits up, holding her stomach.
Kurt let's the tray in the nightstand and sits on the edge of the bed.
"Did you sleep well?" He asks.
"I couldn't sleep." Santana says with a tiny voice. "My stomach was hurting really bad and i was so hot."
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.
"I don't know." She said, in an almost inaudible tone. "I'm not hungry." She said, while looking at the tray with the toast.
"I know, but you haven't eaten anything since yesterday morning." Kurt said "You need to eat something so you can have your medicine. You can sleep after that"
"I feel really queasy." Santana said, after she had eaten half of the toast.
"Are you going to puke?" Kurt asked, while holding a bin in front of her. Santana shooked her head no.
"I miss Ohio too. I love it here in NY, but, you know it's weird not being around my dad all the time." Kurt said, while Santana was taking the medicine. "What do you like to do when you're sick?" He asked.
"Right now i would like to die." Santana answered "But usually my mom would just let me lie in the couch or we'll make a fort while watching a movie or bad reality shows with her and caress my hair and... I don't know, it's stupid." She said. "God, i feel pathetic."
"You're not pathetic, it's cute."
"I think i'm gonna..." She said, before starting gagging.
It took her about half an hour for the medicine to kick in and she feel asleep quickly after that.
Kurt felt kind of bad for waking her up, but he figured out it was for a good cause.
"Santana!" He said while opening the curtain. "Hey, Santana, wake up!" He said while reaching out to her.
"What?" Santana mumbled.
"Get up." Kurt said.
"No, it hurts to move."
"C'mon, i have something to show you!"
Santana groaned but complied. Kurt helped her out of the bed.
"It better be worth it." Santana said.
Kurt took her to the living room, where he had made a big fort with pillows and blankets.
"What is this?" Santana asked while rubbing her eyes.
"You said you used to made this with your mom when you were sick," he said "So, i thought, why not do it here?"
"It's awesome." She mumbled.
"I know! C'mon, get in, we can watch whatever you want on tv."
It wasn't Ohio and it wasn't her mom, but it was almost as good.
