"How's my Broadway star doing this morning?"

Rachel smiled when she felt her boyfriend's arms slide around her waist. He pressed several kisses to the side of her neck, and Rachel leaned back against Finn's chest and closed her eyes.

"I'm not a Broadway star yet," Rachel reminded him. "It's only a small part in Les Mis."

"Still, it's pretty amazing," Finn said. It had only been a month since Rachel had graduated from NYADA, and she had already got a part in the main cast of a Broadway show. Rachel was insanely talented, and the directors would have been crazy if they hadn't casted her for the part. They had gone out to dinner to celebrate, and then Finn had continued to celebrate with Rachel well into the night.

Rachel turned around in Finn's arms and slid her own around his neck. "Hmm, I guess so," she mused teasingly. She stood on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his lips. Finn's hands moved down to her hips and gripped them tightly. They almost got carried away right there in the kitchen, but Finn had a plan that he wanted to go through with.

So Finn let go of Rachel and parted from her with another quick kiss on the lips. He steered her towards the island counter before he turned to set up the coffee machine.

"Go and sit down," Finn said. "I'll make breakfast."

Rachel reached around to playfully pinch Finn's butt, and she giggled when he jumped. "My boyfriend is the sweetest," she declared.

Finn gave her his half smile and turned to retrieve two coffee mugs from the cabinet. He took a deep breath and waited impatiently for the single-cup coffee machine to dispense Rachel's cup. Once hers was finished, Finn set his up and then went about adding all of Rachel's extras to her coffee.

It wasn't long after high school that Finn began to drink coffee. It took him a little bit, but he eventually got used to the taste and came to realize that he preferred black coffee over anything else. Rachel, on the other hand, put exactly two teaspoons of hazelnut or vanilla sugar-free cream in her coffee. It didn't take Finn long to learn the exact way Rachel preferred this particular beverage.

He had been so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn't realized his cup had finished brewing. Finn wrapped his fingers around the handle of Rachel's mug and closed his eyes, taking a moment to collect himself before he brought the cup over to his girlfriend.

Rachel accepted the mug from Finn and smiled sweetly at him. Their fingers brushed as the cup transitioned, and that familiar warmth spread through both of them. They had been dating for a little over three years at this point, and it never got old—and both Finn and Rachel knew it never would.

Finn began to put breakfast together as Rachel started talking about the other performers she was working with. He made the appropriate noises so that it would appear that he was listening, but the truth was that Finn couldn't focus at all. His eyes kept darting to the coffee mug in Rachel's hand, and he kept trying to estimate when she would finish it.

Finn had been waiting a year to do this—truthfully, he knew two years ago that he was going to be asking Rachel this question. The fact that he was only ten minutes from seeing what her answer would be made him wonder if he could actually wait that long.

Rachel was completely oblivious to Finn's internal dialogue as she gabbed about the Broadway show she had received a part on. So many amazing things were happening in her life, and she had Finn Hudson by her side. Great things were happening for Finn, too. He was only a few months from opening his music store, and Rachel couldn't have been more proud of him.

Finn may have wanted to do this from the very moment he met her, but he knew that this was the right time. This was their time.

Rachel was getting to the end of her coffee now, and Finn's heart started to beat faster. He swallowed hard, his eyes on her coffee mug as she took her final sips. She was so caught up in what she was saying that she didn't even notice how oddly Finn was acting. It made a smile come to his lips—she always did tend to have a one-track mind like that.

As Rachel always did when she finished her coffee, she looked into the bottom of the mug and frowned. She loved the drink, and it was always kind of sad when she finished. This time, however, something at the bottom of the cup caused her to pause.

Rachel stared at the mug, blinked, and then continued to stare. Time seemed to stop as her heart thudded in her ears, her grip tightening on the handle of the cup.

There, at the bottom of the coffee mug, were the words "Marry me."

Rachel looked up and found Finn on one knee next to her, his amber eyes earnest and full of love. When her eyes connected with his, Finn reached for her hand, his calloused thumb running over knuckles.

And then, with that adorable half smile, he opened his other hand, revealing a vintage diamond ring in the center of his palm.

Rachel didn't even need to think about it. She immediately launched herself into Finn's arms, her arms wrapping tightly around his neck as they fell backwards onto the floor. She could feel Finn's laughter vibrating through his chest, and she pressed her face to his shirt, gripping the material tightly in her small hands. Tears of joy were in her eyes, soaking into Finn's shirt and Rachel could only hold on to him as he chuckled.

"I take it that's a yes, then?" he asked, not moving from where he was laying on the floor with Rachel on top of him.

She finally lifted her head, nodding her head and extending her left hand. With a grin, Finn slid the ring onto her third finger and then her fingers curled around his. The ring sparkled in the morning sun, and Rachel finally found her voice.

"I love you, Finn Hudson," she declared breathlessly.

Finn tucked his fingers under her chin and tilted her face towards his. His lips descended upon hers and Rachel's fingers curled into the hair at the nape of his neck. His lips against hers were tender and passionate, and Rachel wondered how she could have gotten so lucky.
