HALLOWEEN SPECIAL TIME! WHOOO! Inspired by my good friend BertiusMaximus, thank him, because without him, this story would not exist! Enjoy!

(Igneel's POV)

"Hey! Natsu, I can smell you! Put that down! We'll eat that later!" Natsu smiled guiltily, and hopped down from his hiding spot.

"Darn! Can't I just have a little bite? Please?" The dragon slayer widened his eyes as far as they could stretch and his lips curved down, quivering. But Igneel just snorted and turned back to whatever he was doing. Natsu tried to catch a peek, but Igneel slapped him away.

"No, because your bites tend to eat everything. None until tonight!"

"But that's so long! I wanna eat now!" Igneel tried to reason with his son's attitude.

"But wont it taste better if you wait longer?" Natsu grumbled and groaned, kicking a rock away and hopping back to his branch.

"I guess… But still…" The dragon sighed.

'If only the boy had some patience… How terrifying he would be…'

"Can I go play?" Igneel was glad the boy had thought of something to do himself.

"Of course, but be sure to be back before dark, and if I catch you eating anything you'll be sorry" Natsu grinned, quickly hugged his father, and ran off into the woods.

'Finally, I thought he'd never leave' He went back to creating the insignia he'd been drawing. It was a vital piece to what he would show to his son later on.

(Natsu's POV)

"YAHOO!" The wind tore at his face as Natsu freefell 50 stories from the air, and splashed with a giant wave knocking over everything in a 10-meter radius.

"Whew! That was fun!" A bird flew down and landed on Natsu head, chirping.

"Haha! Did you like that Bean? Was it fun?" Bean trilled in response. A fox, bunny, and chimp all chattered, hopping from rock to rock down the waterfall, running to the nearest dry patch of land by Natsu.

"Banana! Hop! Felix! Did you see that?" In a chorus of noise, the animals all agreed.

"HAHAHAH! Wanna do that again?" This pattern repeated numerous times, and would have for many more if a round orange thing hadn't thumped to the ground.

"Huh? What's that?" Natsu and the animals all crowded closer, but kept a respectful distance.

"Looks tasty…" Natsu mouth watered, and he was about to catch it and take a bite when he remembered his father's words.

'…If I catch you eating anything you'll be sorry…' Sighing, Natsu got up and turned around—

WHAM

With a powerful thud, he was knocked into the water. Gurgling, he resurfaced, struggling for breath.

"Bwah! HEY! WHO DID THAT!?"

Swoosh

Bonk

Another thud, and Natsu's head was pushed back into the water as his head was used to skip across the river.

"Oh that is it!" Normally, he would've listen to his father, but the stupid orange had gone too far. The water bubbled and he jetted out of the water with his hands encased with flames.

"DIE ORANGE!" Natsu had already named it meaning he acknowledged him, maybe not as a friend, but more it's existence.

"I'm gonna eat ya!" Natsu caught up easily and leaped.

"Gotcha!" A green vine shot out and smacked Natsu back. He fell, hitting the ground like a skipping stone. Shaking off the damage like it was nothing, he charged again. And again. And again. Each and every time, being punched away. The fifth time, Natsu finally got used to it's pattern, and avoided the snaking attack.

"Now I got—" Nope. This time, when Natsu landed on it, it used its spherical shape to roll, not losing it's momentum in the slightest, squishing Natsu over and over again.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" Natsu unleashed his breath before it got worse.

"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Orange was wreathed in flames, but due to the amount of times it kept rolling in the dirty mood, all it did was waste Natsu's energy and make him bit his tongue.

"Ack!" And again he fell from Orange. Felix, Banana, Hop, and Bean all caught up, fussing over Natsu, trying to help him up. He was all right, but his words were all limp.

"Ah, okay, wer e gu?" Banana, being the only one with an opposable thumb, jutted it behind him.

"Tank, I fee u 'ater!" And with that, he sped off again.

'So now what should I do…' For once, the dragon slayer thought about what his next move should be. Because Orange was actually moving very fast, he had no time to stop and attack with one of his moves. So… how to hit it…

An idea sprung into mind.

"Nin-nin…"

(Bean's POV)
Bean flew with a flurry of her wings. She was a turquoise hummingbird, and almost hunted to extinction. But after every human she had met, Natsu was the only that hadn't tried to kill her. In fact, it had been the very opposite. He had saved her from a terrible storm, and without the tree she and the human slept in, there was no doubt in her mind that she would have died. So he'd become her friend, and even given her a name.

Banana, Felix, and Hop all shared similar stories, Natsu saving each of them a different time, each time with the last animal in their group. Bean had been first, then Banana, then Hop, and lastly Felix. Banana was the joker, he was always clowning around, Hop was the girl who was always ready to run and play, and Felix was quiet dignified, but he still enjoyed being around the others. They were as inseparable bunch, Whenever Natsu would need help, they would help, with any problem, any obstacle, or with any plan, no matter how ludicrous it may have sounded at first. Like this one.

"Nin nin… Ready… GO!" Bean flew out of her bush, and pecked wildly at Orange, and Banana swung off a tree, tossing coconut after coconut. It reeled on its green plant legs, and slither-ran off, it's awkward vine-like limbs creating awkward steps, but leaving behind a wide trail. Running it headed for the denser path where the animals would have a harder time following it.

Whack

Hop jumped from his hiding spot, and smashed the pumpkin into the river. On Natsu's orders, Bean had followed the creature closely, and noticed it going in circles. She reported to Natsu, and they'd concocted a plan. Make it continue it's pattern, and when it got close to the water, kick it in. Orange flailed and tried to swim, but it was too heavy, it's limbs unable to support its body. Natsu made his move.

"Fire Dragon's Punch!" A solid crunch could be felt underneath his fist, and it split open. A dark rune flashed, and floated away, but Natsu was still too blinded to notice.

"I got it! We did it!" Cheering, Natsu and the others roared in triumph. Even Felix let out a call. It was majestic really, and many females would prick their ears at the sound. Dragging the lifeless creature back to shore, Natsu's hunger caught up with him, and his lips wet. Slow roasting it with his flames, the dragon slayer dried off most of the water, and the smell of burning Orange… It was so good…

"Time to eat! Itadakimas!" Bean flew forward, stopping Natsu's mouth from going an inch further.

"Aw, C'mon Bean! I'm so hungry!" Bean chirped, Hop thumped his foot, Banana hooted, and Felix flicked his tail, glaring.

"Fine… Since you guys all say so…" He pouted, crossing his arms and folding his legs, sitting down with a flop. Then he noticed the sun, setting in the horizon, and he shot to his feet.

"YES! ROAST PORK! LET'S GO GUYS!" Heaving the Orange onto his back, his legs couldn't move fast enough to run back home.

(Igneel's POV)

SMASH

"Get out! You know you aren't welcome here!" Igneel's tail raised, but even the dragon knew there wouldn't be any splattered human underneath. Pity. Zeref raised his hands.

"Of course, of course. But tonight is such a special night, I just had to come and leave Natsu a present, as I'm sure you are also doing" Another smash, and Zeref walked from behind a tree.

"Alright, alright. I just want to make sure that he got the present safely" Igneel's eyes twitched.

"Got it safely… So you already gave it to him…" Zeref nodded.

"Yes, I'm glad you understand. Whoops" Igneel blasted a scorching flame at the mage, but he just ducked and pinched a burning hair. "That was a close one! Oh! Hey Natsu" Igneel turned, and there was his son, carrying some fruit above his head.

"Z!" He cried happily. Gently setting down the fruit, he rushed over and tackled Zeref, nearly forcing him to the ground. "I missed you!"

Igneel held himself in check in front of his son, but the urge to kill Zeref was growing stronger, and Zeref knew it.

"Hey buddy. Wow you've grown up. You're like a head taller now. What has the big guy been feeding you?" Natsu grinned.

"PORK! Would you like to stay and eat?"

"Natsu, you can't—"

"Sorry Natsu," Zeref cut off Igneel, which angered him "But I don't have time. I have things to prepare for. Here, take this" Zeref stuffed a hat on Natsu's head, and Natsu groped at the new toy. It was soft, and silky, soothing to the touch.

"Thanks Z! Here!" Natsu dug a piece of Orange out of his pocket, and handed it to Zeref. "Eat! It's tasty! Er… I mean it smells good anyway. What? Tou-san, I didn't eat it! Really! Bean and the others stopped me! Right guys?" Chirping, thumping and hooting. "See dad?"
"Fine" Zeref gave a winning smile, and took a bite.

"Mmm~ Delicious. Thank you Natsu. Now I really must be going. Bye~" And he walked away, the shadows unnervingly seeming as though they swallowed him up, but that was impossible. Igneel glared at his son.

"Do you want some too dad?" He gave the biggest smile and held out a chunky burnt piece of Orange. It only stayed there a few seconds, as Igneel had to agree that it did indeed smell delicious.

"What is this?" Natsu smiled.

"Orange!" Igneel rolled his eyes.

"Surely my kin have better naming sense than that" Natsu thought about long and hard.

"Orkin?" Igneel winced.

"Try again" Bean flew over and landed on Natsu's shoulder, pointing at Hop. Hop tilted his head, the attention making her slightly nervous, so she did what she did best. Thumped her foot.

Thump

Thump

Thump

The sound induced a monotonous trance in Natsu, in which he remembered Felix's howl.

"Howl…" Then the thudding of Banana's coconut.

"Coco…" Bean's flapping wings.

"Wings…" And it clicked.

"Howlcowings!" Igneel laughed so hard, even Zeref heard it.

"HOWCOWINGS! AHAHAHAH!" Unfortunately, Natsu took this as consent.

"Okay! Howlcowings it is! What do you think?" He turned to his friends, but they were all rolling on the floor, gasping for breath.

"Glad you guys like it" Natsu went to grab the food, and the rest of the night was laughing, fiery lights (literally), and much chow downs.

(Zeref's POV)

Zeref listened from afar, enjoying the starry night sky.

"Master? It's time to go" A woman walked over and bowed to Zeref, who sighed and sat up.

"I understand. Tell me, what do you think of the name 'Pumpkin'?" The woman didn't react, but asked excitedly

"Pumpkin? Have you already decided which demon should receive this name?" Zeref laughed, and replied

"No, not a demon, but a fruit" The woman's eyebrow twitched but showed no other signs, except for the outraged aura she was emitting, killing nearby plants.
"A… Fruit… Master… You gave the sacred demonic name Pumpkin to a fruit?" Zeref's eyes darkned.

"Is there a problem?" The woman quickly shook her head.

"No, of course not. But why?" Zeref turned back to the sounds of life.

"Because… my cute friend gave me a piece to eat, and he like it. But really… Howlcowings…" He chuckled "He never ceases to amuse me that boy" And Zeref walked away, the woman at his side.

"Happy Halloween Master"

"Thank you. Would you like a Pumpkin?"

Yeah, some of those names were pathetic, but they served their cute little purposes. Sorry about the shorter chapter, but I think it would be better if it were short and sweet. And that is Natsu's first experience with a Pumpkin!
