"Can I see?"
Kurt let out a dramatic and very affronted gasp. "No, Finn! You can't see Rachel yet! You have to wait for the big night!"
Outside of his and Rachel's bedroom door, Finn rolled his eyes. It was times like these that Finn wondered how Blaine put up with Kurt. "Kurt, it's not like this is her wedding dress. In case you forgot, we're already married."
Finn smiled when he heard Rachel giggle. They had only been married for just under a year, and they were still very much in the honeymoon stage. But Finn had a feeling that they would be for a very long time to come.
"Ugh, can you please stop it?" Kurt demanded. "I see that look on you face, Rachel Hudson. I know exactly what you're thinking about, and I don't need you to be distracted by thoughts of my brother right now."
Finn shook his head and then jiggled the doorknob again. If he really wanted to, he could easily get that bedroom door open. Still, he was going to indulge Rachel—after all, this day was all about her.
"This is the Tony Awards, Finn," Kurt continued to snit. "Rachel has to look perfect, given that she's nominated for best leading actress in a musical. Speaking of, you have to look perfect, too. I'm almost done with Rachel, so I'll need you to put your tuxedo on so I can make sure it fits properly.
Oh hell no. There was no way Finn wanted to play Kurt's dress up doll. He had already suffered through three fittings. Enough was enough. "Rachel always looks perfect," Finn stated. "And seriously, Kurt, I—"
"Finn Hudson, I swear to God. Don't make me come out there and poke you with my needle."
Grumbling under his breath the entire time about overbearing, over dramatic little brothers, Finn changed into the tuxedo. He was lounging on the couch in the living room when Kurt and Rachel finally emerged from the bedroom. Rachel eyed him appreciatively, but Kurt almost passed out from shock when he saw his brother.
Kurt slapped his hand over his eyes in horror. "Finn Hudson! Please do not tell me that you're sitting on that couch and wrinkling that Hugo Boss tuxedo. Please tell me this is my imagination."
"Kurt, chill out." Finn stood up and shook the jacket out purely for his brother's sake so that he could see his fear of wrinkles were unfounded. "The tux is fine. Now can you just do whatever it is that you're going to do so we can get this over with already?"
Kurt sighed heavily, but nonetheless got his tape measure out and began to make sure that the tuxedo was fitted properly. "I don't know why you're complaining, Finn. This is couture."
"You look amazing," Rachel said approvingly. Her doe eyes were dark and wide as she scanned her husband's body. "We're going to have fun tomorrow night."
Finn smirked and opened his mouth to respond, but Kurt held out a hand up. "Please don't!" he exclaimed. "I'm still scared from that one time when I came over here that one time and found you half-naked on the arm chair. I sit on that arm chair, you know."
"And that's what you get for coming in without knocking. The key we gave you was for emergencies, you know."
"Alright, boys," Rachel looked both amused and a tad bit exasperated with the brothers' bickering. "We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow, so we should be finishing up soon so Finn and I can get to bed."
Kurt eyed Rachel skeptically. "You're not actually going to go to bed, are you?"
Rachel gave Kurt a look that was purely innocent, completely with wide, blinking eyes. "Of course we're going to go to bed! I would never put tomorrow at risk to stay up late for a tryst with Finn."
Finn opened his mouth to protest-especially since Rachel had definitely promised kitchen counter sex if he didn't complain too much during the fitting with Kurt—but wisely shut it again when Rachel shot him a pointed look. Finn nodded and hoped he had a convincing look on his face when Kurt swiveled his head towards him to make sure that he was on the same page.
"Fine." Kurt snapped his sowing kit shut and pointed to the garment bags. "Finn, take the tuxedo off before you ruin it. I'll be over here at eight o'clock tomorrow morning to start with hair and makeup."
Finn groaned. "Eight o'clock, Kurt? Is that really necessary?"
"Yes," Kurt stated in a tone that clearly left no room for argument. "It is. I'll see you then."
Kurt waited until Finn had changed out of the tuxedo and had safely zipped it into the garment bag before he left. The door had just shut behind Kurt when Rachel slipped her arms around Finn's waist and pressed herself to his chest.
"So," Finn teased with a grin. "I guess since you're so tired, we have to get to bed."
Rachel curled her tiny fists into Finn's shirt and yanked him down until his lips were just a breath from hers. "I don't think so, Mr. Hudson. I need my good luck sex."
Well, Finn certainly wasn't one to deny his wife anything.
For some godforsaken reason, Kurt was making Finn wait until the very last second before he got to see his wife. He paced back and forth, constantly looking down at his watch. Carole, Burt, Hiram, and Leroy watched him with amusement. They wouldn't be attending the actually awards ceremony with Finn and Rachel, but they would all be at the after party.
"Son, calm down," Burt advised. "You're going to wear a hole in the ground."
"I don't want her to be late," Finn said. He wanted this night to be perfect for Rachel. He knew the one thing that would really cinch the whole night would be if Rachel won the Tony. He had no doubt that would happen, because how could it not? His wife was insanely talented, and it would be crazy if they didn't give this award to her.
The bedroom door finally swung open, and Kurt came out first. The smug expression on his face said it all; Kurt Hummel was extremely proud of himself. He stepped aside with a flourish, allowing Rachel to exit the bedroom as well.
Rachel's dress was a deep, vibrant red with thin straps and a full, multi-tiered skirt. The neckline was a deep-V, and it was mirrored on the back, exposing a good portion of her smooth, tan skin. Her dark hair was curled and swept up away from her face, and her makeup was dark and smoky. Strappy black stiletto sandals were on her feet, instantly making her taller.
Finn's jaw dropped open and he stood there staring at Rachel. He didn't even notice the way his family was quietly laughing at how dumbstruck he was. Truly, though, Finn was in awe of how amazing his wife looked.
Finn reached out to draw her into his arms. Rachel rested her hands on his chest and smiled up at him with glossy lips. Even though Finn knew he was going to get yelled out for ruining her makeup, he couldn't resist kissing her. For a moment, he was struck by how he no longer had to duck down in order to reach her lips. Rachel seemed to know what he was thinking, because she giggled.
"You're not used to me being so tall, are you?" she asked when they broke apart.
Finn shook his head and then took another moment to just soak her in. "Rachel, you... you're gorgeous."
Rachel beamed with complete and utter happiness, and Finn knew that all eyes would be on her tonight. How could they not? Rachel would be the true star of this show.
Despite Kurt's many protests, Rachel and Finn kept sneaking kisses. In fact, they made out nearly the entire way to the Tony Awards in the limo. And they got very, very handsy on the way to the after party—this time, Rachel was holding her newly won Tony Award and refused to let go of it... even when Finn had one hand up her skirt.
Of course, Finn thought it was hilarious. He made her come twice in the limo, and she still managed to look like a princess when she climbed out of the car. That image was cemented further when she waved her award around like a scepter the entire night.
They were all so happy for Rachel that Kurt couldn't even yell at Finn for the hickey that was barely visible by the strap of her dress. And when they got home, Rachel and Finn had some celebratory sex, with Rachel still clad in her dress and with Finn wearing half of his tuxedo.
