Episode 277: Power Rangers SPD: Beginnings: Part I
On the planet of Alandria, Emperor Grumm of the Troobian Empire has stripped the planet of its resources. He then uses his ship to destroy the planet.
Back on Earth, New York City has been rebuilt into a high tech city, renamed New Tech City. Aliens have joined together with humans and live together. 99% of the aliens are peaceful, but the remaining 1% join together with human gangs and cause trouble in New Tech City. An elite force, called Space Patrol Delta, governs New Tech, providing police and fire services, along with making sure day to day jobs of the city get done. The headquarters of SPD on Earth is the Delta Base, which is where SPD trains its forces and also houses the United Nations. SPD is consists of several squads, with the top squad, the A-Squad, being the best of the best and being awarded Ranger Powers.
At the Delta Base, three B-Squad Cadets, Schuyler "Sky" Tate, Bridge Carson, and Sydney Drew, are training in a simulator. Sky creates a forcefield to fight the alien, Bridge sense the aliens' aura to detect where he is, and Sydney turns her hand into stone to hit it. Dr. Kat Manx, turns off the simulator
"You three are going to have to learn to work together better" said Kat
"Don't worry about me" said the person they were fighting, Kat's assistant, Boom
In the command center of the Delta Base, Commander Anubis Cruger is meeting with Tommy Oliver, and Ryan Mitchell
"My spies have discovered that the demons are up to something" said Tommy
"Aren't they alway?" Ryan asked
"Yes" said Tommy "but this is something big, very big. Ryan, I need your team to figure out what it is"
"Just because we aren't currently fighting a villain doesn't mean we don't do anything" said Ryan "it's our job to guard the Abyss of Evil, not to mention help out where we can around Mariner Bay, we are rescue workers after all"
"I understand" said Tommy "but your team is the best fit. The various Angel Ranger teams have their own missions and I have no way to contact them. Out of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, only Jason and Tom still have their Powers, but Tom protects Christians in the Middle East and Jason is inactive. The Aquitar Rangers still have their Powers, but they are Aquitar's only protectors, not to mention don't do well away from Aquitar for long periods of time. The Zeo Rangers have their Powers, but Trey's the only one still active, and he's Triforia's only protector, even I would like to have a sabbatical from Ranger duty, although as you can tell, sometimes I get sucked back in for a while. The Zeo Rangers are all over the globe anyways and would be difficult to reunite. Out of the Turbo Rangers, TJ, Justin, Dimitria, John, and the Blue Senturion still have their Powers, but TJ and John are with the Space Rangers, actually I've heard Justin recently joined them as well, and the Blue Senturion has joined SPD and has his own missions, Dimitria is an Angel Ranger and I haven't seen her in years. The Space Rangers have their Powers and do like to run reconnaissance missions, but they're the protectors of KO-35, which has had a criminal problem they're trying to get under control. The Galaxy Rangers are all on Mirinoi and are retired. The Time Force Rangers still have their Powers, but Wes and Eric protect Silver Hills with the Silver Guardians and others are Venus' protectors. The Wild Force Rangers have their Powers, but are spread all over the globe and have retired. Out of the Ninja Storm Rangers, only Marah still has her Powers. My Dino Rangers don't have their Powers, not to mention are at colleges all over the country. Cruger's Rangers are needed to protect New Tech City, none of us want another 9/11"
"Can't you call some of them out of retirement?" Ryan asked "most of them would if you asked, we've had enough team-ups as proof of that"
"I could ask" said Tommy "but your team really doesn't have an active mission, but yet you all are still considered on an active mission"
"We do a lot" said Ryan "monitoring the Abyss is a full time job, not to mention watching over Mariner Bay"
"I know you do a lot" said Tommy "but if you accept this mission, you could still monitor the Abyss, you may not be able to get there as fast if you're needed, but the Pink Wind Ranger and the Wind Ninja Academy could hold them off until you get there. And Mariner Bay does still have rescue workers. This mission wouldn't be full time anyways, nor would it be permanent. Your team is the best for the job, you have a larger than average team, your Powers were created by Zordon Himself for the purpose of fighting demons, and you have the Demon Hunter. So please will you take it?"
"If you think it's that important" said Ryan "then we'll take it"
"Thank you" said Tommy "unfortunately, Cruger, this means that Lightspeed won't be able to assist you if something goes wrong, as I had them assigned as your backup, as New Tech City is a bit more difficult to protect then the average city, even without a villain fighting you and Lightspeed have the equipment to help such a large city, as they did on 9/11"
"Dr. Manx and I are thinking about activating another Ranger team" said Cruger
"That would be good" said Tommy "Now I need to go, I have papers to grade. May the Power protect you both" and he and Ryan leave
"A-Squad" said Cruger into the Delta Base's PA system "please report to the command center"
Later, alarms go off. Cruger tells the A-Squad about the problem. As the A-Squad leaves the command center, the B-Squad enters. Bridge uses his hands to scan the A-Squad's aura
"Something's off about them" said Bridge
"B-Squad Cadets" said Cruger "there is a robbery downtown, stop it and apprehend the thieves"
"Yes sir" said the B-Squad and they go downtown. They try to take on the thieves, but the female thief, Z, creates duplicates to fight the others and the male thief, Jack, can run through solid objects. The thieves escape.
Jack and Z give away what they stole to people and aliens that were even more poor than they were. They run out of things, but one alien is still left
"I'm sorry we're all out" said Jack and the alien looks discouraged, so he takes off his jacket and hands it to the alien "here take this" the alien gratefully takes it and leaves.
At the Delta Base, Sky is talking to Cruger.
"Cadet Tate" said Cruger "I'm thinking about making the B-Squad Power Rangers"
"Commander Cruger" said Sky "I'd be honored. I humbly request the position of Red Ranger"
"Why Red Ranger, cadet?" Cruger asked
"Lot's of reasons, sir" said Sky "I'm top on B-Squad in test scores, weaponry, and in fighting. As you know, sir, my father was the Red Ranger. Ever since I was a little kid, I've trained for the day I'd become like my dad - the next Red Ranger."
"Cadet Tate" said Cruger "your father was the best of the best, even better than the A-Squad. He fought in many battles all on his own before dying while fighting alongside the Time Force Rangers, Red Power Ranger, and Red Zeo Ranger. I understand why you want to be like him, he was a great man However, what if I made Cadet Drew the Red Ranger instead?"
"Sir, she's a girl" said Sky
"How about Cadet Carson?" Cruger asked
"I like Bridge" said Sky "but in all honesty, sir, he's not a leader"
Elsewhere, Emperor Grumm tries to find a way to use a wormhole to get his ship to Earth, as the wormhole is too small. He summons a Blue Krybot
"Go to Earth with a squad of Krybots and find a proton accelerator" said Grumm
"Yes sir" said the Blue Krybot
"Beware Earth" said Grumm "your end has begun"
On Earth, an alien gives Jack and Z a device, telling him protecting it will save the world.
At the command center, Kat shows the B-Squad their Delta Morphers
"These Morphers will allow you to turn into Power Rangers" said Kat "They will contain your SPD badge, as well as function as a phone. It also has a judgement mode that will scan a suspect's temperature, pulse, electrical impulses and various other readings to render a verdict and then contain them with technology based on the Data Cards the Space Rangers contained the Psycho Rangers with. I will show you a demonstration. Boom did you eat my last cookie?" The Delta Morpher flashes between innocent and guilty before stopping on guilty. "Containment Mode" and Boom turns into a card "this card will allow you to transfer the prisoner to a spot to be easily stored" Kat hands out the Morphers
"Cadets" said Cruger "the thieves are back. I inserted their coordinates in your Morphers, stop them!"
The cadets go find Jack and Z and are about to fight when a bunch of Krybots show up.
