Opening her eyes, Rachel wasn't surprised to find herself pressed against Finn. She was curled into his chest and he had one long arm draped around her waist.
"Good morning," Finn greeted. His lips brushed against her forehead, and Rachel tilted her head up to smile at him.
"Morning. How long have you been awake?"
"Only a few minutes," Finn said. He shifted so their foreheads were pressed together, and Rachel slipped her hand in between both of Finn's and let out a happy little sigh. Rachel tucked her foot in between Finn's calves and giggled when Finn shivered. Her feet were always cold, but Finn never complained when she used him to warm her up; he just teased her about it every chance he got.
Rachel and Finn had been married for a little more than a month, and they were still in that marital bliss stage. It wasn't that much different from when they were living together before they were married, but Rachel still got a little thrill every time Finn called her his wife.
"I was thinking we could have breakfast in bed," Finn suggested. "Sound good?"
"It depends." Rachel stretched against Finn and smirked when he let out a groan. "Are you cooking?"
Now it was Finn's turn to smirk. "Of course I am. You know you can't cook an egg to save your life."
Rachel pouted and shoved Finn's shoulder in retaliation. He chuckled as he got out of bed and pressed a kiss to Rachel's lips, who was too busy scowling at him to return it. Rachel was an excellent cook in just about everything she attempted—other than breakfast. Finn was right; Rachel couldn't make a proper breakfast. She could make a gourmet, five-course dinner, but she couldn't make an omelet.
"Does French toast sound okay?"
Of course, Finn would try to get back into her good graces by making her favorite breakfast. Not wanting to give in so easily, Rachel huffed and said nothing. Having gotten used to Rachel's dramatics over the years, Finn could only grin at her.
Leaning over the bed, Finn pressed a kiss to her bare shoulder. "I'll make it with caramelized bananas."
Damn it. Rachel couldn't keep the smile from forming on her lips, and she nodded her head. She reached up to properly kiss her husband. Finn might have liked teasing her, but she was going to get her favorite breakfast out of it. Rachel wasn't about to complain about getting breakfast served to her in bed.
Rachel swatted Finn's behind (the man really did have an amazing butt). "Go and make me so breakfast, Finn Hudson."
"Right away, Rachel Hudson." Finn winked at her and Rachel grinned as she pulled the blankets up to her nose to hide her smile. The man was too charming for his own good, and he knew it—at least where it concerned her.
Rachel must have drifted off again, because it was about forty minutes later when Finn was gently shaking her awake. The delicious aroma of French toast and coffee hit her nose and Rachel sat up to find that Finn had prepared a full tray complete with a little vase with a single pink tulip. She beamed at him as Finn settled on the other side of the tray from her.
"This looks amazing, Finn," she said. "And it smells just as good. Thank you."
Finn shrugged his shoulders sheepishly. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, after all."
Rachel couldn't help but give her husband an affectionate smile. "That was incredibly dorky," she told him. When Finn winked at her, Rachel blushed profusely. Finn Hudson may have been a complete dork, but he got to her in a way that no one else ever had.
"You love it," Finn retorted, and Rachel couldn't argue with him, because she really did.
They ate breakfast together and Rachel playfully tucked the pink tulip into her hair as she posed for Finn, who managed to take a few pictures on his phone. It was nearing eleven o'clock in the morning when they found themselves laying in bed once again. Their bodies were pressed together with their hands intertwined, and Rachel's forehead was touching Finn's.
Rachel's eyes fluttered closed as she just let the feeling of being close to Finn overwhelm her. This was one of her favorite moments. These quiet moments in the morning, just lying with one of the people she loved the most, were times that she would never forget.
And then Rachel sneezed.
It shocked Finn so much that he slipped right off of their bed and crashed to the floor. They stared at each other in completely shock for several beats of silence before Rachel dissolved into laughter. She clutched her sides and curled into herself that she was laughing so hard, and all Finn could do was sit there on the floor with wide eyes.
Finally, he chuckled as well and managed to pull himself back onto the bed. He pulled her into his arms and playfully tickled her sides until she begged for mercy, but it didn't stop her from laughing. As she turned in his arms, Rachel couldn't help the little giggles that continued to escape from her lips.
"It's not funny," Finn said. He tried to be serious, but even he couldn't stop himself from laughing. He fluttered his fingers against the most ticklish spot on Rachel's side, but it didn't stop her from laughing.
She buried her face in his chest in an effort to hide her smile. "Yes it was," she teased. For once, Rachel was glad to have the upper hand. She got breakfast in bed and she got to tease her husband. All in all, Rachel Hudson would say that it was a very good day.
So I love Pinterest, and they have these screenshots of Tumblr writing prompts all over the place. So this chapter was inspired by one of those prompts!
