It ws the first day of middle school, and Thomas couldn't believe that he actually made it past 4th grade, he never turned in his essays on time, or his math homework(math and writing were his weaknesses in learning). Every time they had an essay due he was always asking for help, until Mrs. Guillory stopped helping him and said,"im tired of you, you cant even learn how to like the right gender you're so stupid!" after that, he tried to change by asking out a girl named Jakhia, who was one of his friends, when he asked her out she said,"are you doing this because of what Mrs. Guillory said the other day?", she asked. He lied and said no, she still didn't believe him, but she also knew that he needed help. So she told her parents that her teacher was being homophobic at school, what she didn't know was that they were homophobic to. so in stead of helping, they said,"being homosexual is going against tge bible, and if you know anyone that is homosexual, you have permission from us to slap them and tell them they need to go to church!", Jakhia just started crying and ran to her room and laid in bed and cried herself to sleep that night. The next day she told Thomas what happened almost crying in the process. "Th-they said th-that i-i have permission to slap people that are homosexual, and i should t-tell them to g-go to church!" she couldn't get anything else out, she just continued to sob, but she tried to tell him she was sorry, but he just shushed and hugged her, and said,"its alright, they cant stop us from being friends, shh, its ok everything is going to be ok," *who is he trying to comfort? himself or her?*
