A/N: Request by court4321 can you do one that is an AU where Finnick and Peeta are roommates and Peeta catches Annie leaving the morning after... you know.
Okay I've only written one AU before so I hope I do a good job
Last Night.
"Annie come on." Finnick says as we run to his apartment.
It's raining terribly hard. Finnick and I are running from the campus theater to his apartment. His apartment is much closer than mine.
"Well I'm sorry but it's hard to run in these shoes." I say as I look down at my black heels. I had a formal event I had to attend before Finnick and I went to the movies. So I stayed in my 'fancy' clothes as Finnick likes to call them. It's just a black dress and heels. I rarely wear dresses so maybe that is why.
"Do you want to be carried?" He teases.
I scoff.
"No thanks." I mutter.
He smiles.
We are almost to his apartment. My clothes are sticking to my body like a second skin. It isn't helping that more than one car has splashed water on us.
"Here." Finnick says as we make it up the stairs of his apartment building.
He fumbles with the keys because his fingers are shaking so bad from the cold.
"Give them to me." I say and take them from his hand to unlock the door.
It swings open.
Finnick sighs in relief
"I though Peeta might have bolted it. He thought I was going to be with you." Finnick explains.
"What makes you say that?" I ask slightly offended.
"He does whenever I go out with you."
"So whenever I go out with you he thinks you come back to my place?" I ask.
"You'll have to ask him." Finnick says with a smile. He shivers again. "I need to change." He says.
Finnick comes back out shortly wearing a hoodie and sweatpants.
"Don't you want warm clothes Annie?" He asks concerned.
"Oh. I don't know if I have-"
Finnick rolls his eyes.
"You can borrow." He says and takes my hand and drags me to his room. "Take what you want. I know you'll want this." He says and throws our favorite hoodie at me. Finnick loves it and so do I. It is so fluffy.
"As a matter a fact I do." I smile and he kisses my cheek. "Am I staying here tonight Finnick?" I ask.
"If you wish. That was the plan. I don't want to drive in this storm and no way in hell am I letting you walk home." He says gently.
I smile.
"Okay." I say and my lips touch his. "This will be the first time then, are you sure Peeta-"
"Peeta will be fine as long as we don't touch his paintings." Finnick says and I smile.
Peeta is an art major so his paintings are usually all over their apartment. They usually have to keep a window open because of the paint fumes.
"Good to know." I say with a smirk.
This will be the first time I spend the night at Finnick's. We usually stay at my place because I live alone. I think I would die of embarrassment if Finnick's roommate saw me at night or the morning. Even if we didn't do anything I would feel humiliated.
I've been dating Finnick for a little over a year. We met in our Shakespearean English class my sophomore year of college. My major is English but Finnick's is Marine Biology. He took the class as an elective. The class room was small and mostly girls. Finnick would always sit close to me. I think because he wanted my help proofreading his papers so I was happy to oblige. He helped me with biology in return because I'm terrible with science.
Finnick's room is smaller than my own. There is barely any floor space from all the stuff he has crammed in here.
I hear Finnick flop down on his bed.
"Finnick." I say.
"Yes?" He says.
"Can you help me unzip my dress?" I ask Finnick. "I think the zipper is stuck." I say frustrated.
I hear Finnick smirk.
"Is this an excuse Miss. Cresta?" He says and kisses my neck.
I smile.
He sweeps my wet hair away and slides the zipper down slowly.
He kisses my shoulder blade while the dress slides down.
I turn around just in my underwear and kiss him. I lean my head against his chest. I feel Finnick's hands rub up and down my bare back.
I breathe in and out deeply. I can smell saltwater on him from his lab earlier today.
"I don't think I need your clothes right now." I whisper and Finnick smiles.
"Me too." He whispers and kisses me and we fall on the bed.
Kissing, teasing, touching, and caressing.
"Finnick." I whimper.
"Annie." He kisses me softly and then Finnick and I join together.
I'm only vaguely aware of how loud we are being. I'm only vaguely aware when I hear the front door open.
I only become completely aware of my surroundings when I hear Finnick's bedroom door close.
"Did we leave the door open?" I whisper already feeling my face getting hot but for a different reason.
"I don't remember." Finnick says out of breath.
I see the question on his lips but I just shake my head and we continue as if there was no interruption.
I lean on Finnick's chest after and he plays with my hair.
"Do you think Peeta saw us?" I whisper slightly self-conscious.
"I think he heard us." Finnick says tired. I can tell he is smiling.
"Oh." I whisper.
"Don't worry Annie. I've seen him do much worse when he was dating Delly." That was Peeta's high school girlfriend who he dated for a year in college but then long distance became too hard.
He is now interested in a girl named Katniss. Although Finnick and I both think she isn't into Peeta. Either that or she is playing hard to get.
"Oh." I whisper again.
"I guess that's one perk of living alone." Finnick teases and I shove him slightly.
I nod.
"But I also don't like your place." He says.
"It's fine Finnick." I say and kiss his hand.
He has said this repeatedly even when we weren't dating. I live further away from campus. I wouldn't say I live in a dangerous neighborhood but I wouldn't walk around alone at night.
Finnick kisses me again.
"I'm pretty sure your neighbor is a cocaine dealer." Finnick says.
"If you don't bother them they don't care." I say because I'm sure a few of them are drug dealers.
"You gotta get out of there." Finnick says.
I sigh.
"It's fine." I say.
"I know because I protect you." Finnick says and I smile.
"Okay." I say mockingly and he kisses me.
"I love you." I whisper.
"I love you too." He says.
I fall asleep in his arms. I just hope Peeta doesn't say anything tomorrow.
I wake up before Finnick and take his hand off my waist. I kiss his hand before he rolls over.
I smile.
I pull on his shirt and my underwear before heading to the bathroom.
I splash water on my face because some of my makeup is still there. I didn't really have time to take it off.
I grab Finnick's toothbrush and brush my teeth. I don't think he will care. I mean we do make out.
I think if I leave quickly I can get away without seeing Peeta.
I spit out the toothpaste then head to the kitchen to get the toothpaste leftover out of my mouth.
"Listen." I hear Peeta's gentle voice say while he's looking in the fridge. I can't see his face so I am slightly relieved for whatever comment he will say. "I know Annie doesn't usually stay the night and I think I understand why now-" He thinks I'm Finnick. "- but if you bring her home again please tell her to-" he closes the fridge door- "keep it down. I mean I think even our neighbors- He looks up and sees it is me and not Finnick. "Could hear her." Peeta finishes softly.
My face feels hot and I feel like crying from embarrassment. I didn't think I was being that loud. My throat doesn't hurt so it's not like I was screaming or anything.
"Annie." He says worried. "I thought you were Finnick." He says hurriedly.
"I figured." I say and avoid his gaze.
"Please don't cry. Finnick will kill me if he knows I made you cry." He says worried.
"I'm not crying." I say defensively.
"It looks like you're going to." He says worried. "I didn't mean to upset you. I mean most girls aren't so vocal-"
"I don't want to hear about other girls." I say.
"Okay." He says.
"And you shouldn't have closed the door." I blurt out.
"I thought I was doing that out of respect."
"Well-"
"Listen Annie I'm only really upset about this because I invited Katniss over and if she would've heard you writhing around she might get the wrong impression."
"It was late the impression of what you wanted was already there." I mumble. Finnick and I got back around ten. That's not exactly the best time to invite a girl back to your house unless you want something.
"She wanted to get away from her roommates."
She wanted to be with him. I think to myself.
Maybe not to have sex but at least be around him. I don't think they've ever kissed before. Katniss might just want a sex buddy though and I know Peeta doesn't want that. He wants to treat a girl like a princess. He wouldn't sleep with a girl on the first date.
"I'm sure she did." I say trying to hide the laugh in my throat.
"I just don't want her to think I'm some douchey guy. Plus our apartment building has a floor meeting later and the upstairs neighbors complain about this stuff all the time. Usually not us but still."
I get the feeling most of this rant should be directed at Finnick but since he is still in bed I get to hear it.
"I'm sorry. I didn't think… I didn't know…" I say and can feel tears from embarrassment forming again.
I hear footsteps and we both know it is Finnick.
Finnick groans while stretching. Finnick isn't a morning person.
"Morning." He says and kisses the top of my head. He looks at Peeta strangely.
"Why are you glaring? Annie drink all the orange juice or something?" Finnick smiles.
"No, we were just talking about last night." Peeta says calmly and I feel my face getting hot again.
"Strike out with Katniss again?" He smirks.
"I-I-"
"You waited too long. You're just her friend now. I warned him Annie." Finnick says smiling at me.
"No I didn't 'strike out' with Katniss." Peeta says offended.
"Then what's up?" Finnick asks concerned now. Peeta is one of his best friends. They've know each other before college.
"I just didn't realize how vocal your girlfriend was."
I feel my whole neck and face beating. I don't want to look at Peeta ever again.
"Some people would like that, easier than finding porn." Finnick teases.
I jab Finnick's side and he kisses my forehead, knowing he should stop.
Peeta sighs. This is going to turn into an argument one I don't want to be a part of.
"Finnick." I whimper.
"Yes?" He says gently.
"I'm gonna go home." I say still avoiding Peeta's gaze.
Finnick has a strange expression on his face.
"I'm okay." I say.
"You sure?" He asks and glares at Peeta.
"I'm sure." I say and kiss his cheek.
"Do you want me to give you a ride?" He asks but it sounds more like a statement.
I shake my head.
"I'm okay." I say.
"Okay, I love you." He says.
"I love you too." I say. Finnick pulls me in for a hug.
"Call me when you get home." He whispers into my hair.
"I will." I say knowing he will be worrying.
I kiss Finnick.
"Bye." I say.
"You might want to put pants on Annie." I hear Peeta mumble.
I look down and feel my heartbeat in my ears. I forgot I was just wearing Finnick's hoodie and my underwear.
I run back to Finnick's room humiliated. I like Peeta. He's nice and gentle but right now he isn't. He's clearly annoyed because we had sex too loud. I hope he didn't stay up too late. I know he usually works early.
I find a pair of Finnick's sweatpants.
I can hear them talking. It is surprisingly at a normal tone.
"You should've just talked to me about this." I hear Finnick say.
"Well Annie-"
"Annie gets embarrassed talking about stuff like this."
"Embarrassed? Really because last night-" Peeta laughs.
"She gets embarrassed talking to other people about it."
"Really?"
"Yes. It's a reason why she wants to live alone."
"That's why because she's so loud?" Peeta asks confused.
"She's not loud... usually." Finnick clears his throat. "But I know it's a contributing factor. She doesn't want to live with other people. She doesn't like awkward confrontations. When she lived in a dorm her roommate would always have guys over or she would come back drunk and throw up on everything. She probably doesn't want to deal with that again."
"I thought she just couldn't afford it. I mean she lives-"
"In a bad area. I know that's why I like spending the night with her. It's not so I can sleep with her. I want to make sure she's safe." Finnick says.
"Well Annie could-"
"She isn't going to want to stay here again. She's too embarrassed to look at you right now." Finnick says and I walk back out I don't want to hear the rest of their discussion.
"You look like a gray blob." Finnick smiles.
I look down and see in one of Finnick's old high school hoodies and gray sweatpants.
"Well most of your clothes don't fit me." I mutter.
"I know." He says and kisses me.
"Bye Peeta." I say and Finnick walks me to the door.
"You sure you don't want me to drive you home?" Finnick asks again. "It might rain." He uses as an excuse.
I look at Finnick and think of what he just said to Peeta.
"Okay." I say.
Finnick smiles.
"Just let me get the keys." He says and heads to the key ring.
I look at the floor avoiding Peeta's gaze.
"Let's go." Finnick says and takes my head as we head to the parking lot.
Finnick owns a Honda Civic. It is an older version. He bought it used and it had a decent amount of miles on it but it is safe. Besides my family drives cars into the ground. I remember when I was little the door of our mini van fell off.
I open the door and buckle up. I scoot the chair all the way back so I can rest my feet on the dash.
Finnick rolls his eyes.
"What have I said about doing that Miss?" Finnick asks as he starts the car.
"To do it always." I say with a smile.
"Are you tired?" Finnick asks because I usually do this when I am tired.
"No." I say truthfully.
Finnick nods and makes a right turn.
"Finnick stop!" I yell because he's about to run a stop sign.
He does.
"Sorry. They really need to move that it is concealed to the driver." He says.
"You've driven me home enough to know it's there."
He rolls his eyes.
After ten minutes we are walking into my apartment.
It took Finnick almost three minutes to parallel park. He's lucky he has a parking lot for his apartment.
Finnick takes my hand and we walk to my apartment. It isn't a huge building with lots of floors. Each building is an apartment. There are probably only five in this section.
I unlock both locks and open the door.
My apartment isn't that bad it has a decent sized living room and my bedroom is bigger than Finnick's. The kitchen is really tiny though.
I hear Finnick bolt the door shut.
"You don't have to do that Finnick." I say.
"Annie-"
"Aren't you leaving soon? You don't need to bolt the door if you're only going to be here for five minutes."
He rolls his eyes.
"Unless you want to stay for breakfast? I haven't gone shopping yet so it might be slightly stale cereal." I say.
"Slightly stale cereal it is then."
I roll my eyes and turn on the news.
I watch Finnick eat.
He smiles.
"I should go." Finnick says and kisses me.
"Okay." I say and kiss him.
"And don't worry what Peeta said. He'll forget it by tomorrow."
"Hopefully." I say and can feel my cheeks burning.
"He will he'll be too busy pining after Katniss to remember anything else." Finnick says and I smile. "I'll see you later." Finnick says and kisses me.
"I'll see you later." I say as we walk to my front door.
"Bye Finnick." I say and kiss his cheek.
"Bye Annie." He says and leaves.
I smile.
"I love that man." I whisper to myself and I guess all this Peeta embarrassment will go away.
A/N: I was thinking of doing a short story of this possibly. Any thoughts on the matter? Thanks!
